Celebrities › Re: Pete Edochie: Feminism Is Why Women Get Beaten Up In Marriage by nextstep(m): 3:57pm On Mar 31, 2021
Respectfully I disagree.

Nobody deserves to be beaten like a goat by their partner (of either gender) no matter the reason.

If you feel the need to beat a woman because food was not served, or some other rubbish, don't be upset if we call the police on you.

Times have changed Sir. Your mother was able to cook all these soups because she wasn't working full time as a banker, lawyer, engineer, etc. You can't expect somebody who's out of the house for 10-12 hours working, to do the same as somebody whose sole occupation is home keeper.
Christianity Etc › Re: COVID-19 Vaccines: Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Condemns Christians Taking Vaccines by nextstep(m): 11:13pm On Mar 30, 2021
Tonitoniton:
it is wrong for a believer to take the vaccine after the conspiracy theory we all know.
if u have faith in the vaccine u should have more faith in Gods word.
it is disastrous to buy the devils deceit because u too weak to accept ur right in christ and push for ur right in christ .
I really don't understand the cognitive steps that lead people to this kind of conclusion...

If I say: "OK show us your faith, don't eat or drink anything for 6 months, prayer will see you through", the ultra-religious will reply "don't tempt God", sidestepping entirely their claim that prayer is what heals.

Food is needed to fuel the body.
Vaccine is needed to teach the body to make antibodies.

Why is this a concept some religious people have trouble with?
It's not faith that feeds hungry people, in spite of what the good pastor thinks. It also is not faith that heals people from disease. These are demonstrable facts.

These same religious have no problems taking anti-malarial injections or going for surgery as needed. I really wish those who would rather use faith refrain from any modern medicine. They should allow the disease to kill them, go to their heaven and leave the rest of us alone.

I think you see the so-called "leaders of tomorrow". How does someone who's always crying victim (and unwilling to take charge of their own environment" become a good governor or senator?

Is it FG or the caretakers that threw all that trash around?
If students contributed 300 each for some bleach, brooms, and a tanker of water, they can clean this up real quick. Dig a small refuse area, pack the rubbish, then burn that crap.

Politics › Re: Buhari: Nigeria, A Nation Of Huge Gas Resources, Little Oil by nextstep(m): 5:25pm On Mar 29, 2021
Gas and petroleum come from the same place: underground hydrocarbons.

They are both natural resources, and the technology for extracting them are all imported. It will be developed by foreign companies, who will pay Nigeria a price we don't control. How on earth is this diversification?

Besides, the world is moving away from hydrocarbons to renewals (at least gas might still be needed for heating and industrial chemicals), but this is the last thing we should be pouring money into.

A country of 200+ million people cannot be reliant on exchanging natural resources for dollars, that we just use to buy consumables. Still our teaming youths remain underemployed, instead funding the employment of foreign youths.

You're welcome to dress anyhow you like. Just as people are free to react anyhow they like, as long as it doesn't involve abuse of any kind. My business, my rules (as long as I'm not discriminating on the basis of gender, race, disability, religion, and a few other things protected by law).

OP, you sha know that deadly fires also happen in people's homes, in hospitals, offices, etc. I hope you're not encouraging us to avoid sleeping at home because of the chance of fire?

But seriously, RIP to those who passed. This life is so fragile and can get snuffed out at any freaking time. Enjoy it while you have it, for nobody is promised tomorrow.

If I say we should use the money to build different industries to employ youths to the glory of God, people will start abusing me.

At the end of the day, all the speakers, mics, projectors, rugs, AC, fans, bibles, anointing oils, will employ the youths of other countries that make these things. But what do I know.

Belafonte:
op is here because he's a good guy that wants to the right thing but can't because of financial constraints. his woman is behaving strangely and he finds it both weird and unsettling and he's considering continuing the relationship because her behaviour is out of form. his head is telling him to move on, buy his heart(the good guy that he is) is considering the six years he has spent with the babe and he's wondering if he's overreacting, hence this thread.

I do not care if she's approaching 969. if she does not know his financial standing or knows but is not understanding enough to be patient till a good enough time, she will make a bad wife and will blackmail this man till his last days on earth. if she has not, after six years, known how to effectively communicate with the man she wants to browbeat into paying her bride price, she does not deserve to get married to him

if a woman tries this with me, she's gone. let her carry her punna to another man. she's mad
You've made good points, my brother. Let me go and sleep.
Business › Re: Which Bank Offers The Best Saving Option In Nigeria? by nextstep(m): 10:56pm On Mar 25, 2021
seunmsg:
None. No bank can go beyond the CBN approved interest rate. If you have unused money you intend to save, use it to buy Bitcoin or other cryptocurrency. Bitcoin gives more return in a month than Nigerian banks can give in a year.
For now. If you bought bitcoin on Mar 13, you will be crying today. Of course if you bought in on Jan 30 you will be smiling. I don't like that kind of swing, so I'd stay clear.

OP, if you can watch this money burn without crying, then sure, buy bitcoin. The returns are immense, but so are the risks.
T-bills should a decent option, enough to match inflation (unlike bank savings), but your principal is guaranteed.

Go buy small small goats lock them for one corner Dey feed them.

Cash out in 2years.

Best advice I've seen in a while! grin Honestly.

Besides inflation eating away your savings, the naira sef gets devalued anyhow. At least the goats will increase in price every month.
Ask somebody who had 1 million saved in 2015 what that can buy now. I don't think it's worth 500k (in real terms, based on what you could buy in 2015).

she doesn't need a fücking licence to do anything. she's a free moral agent. let her move out tomorrow morning. even if she can't afford accommodation, are her parents dead?
If that were true, OP won't be disturbing us with this yarn. Obviously what she's doing is working on him... enough to write this tale instead of sleeping.

Let's be fair to her: she's likely a nice lady, a good girlfriend for 6 good years. We don't know if OP has even proposed. I mean, a lady approaching 30 is going to start fearing for her future. OP can find another lady today, spend 6 years with her, before deciding to marry. A woman does not have the luxury of time, and who knows, her next boyfriend can also take his time (3-6 years) "getting his finances ready".

Not saying one should rush into marriage, but both sides should sit and talk this thing through, though her clock is running out.

forget the free. was it the op who deflowered her? let's start from there first grin
Funny grin

But seriously, are we saying that responsibility to a woman is dependent on who deflowered her? What's this, 1896? Did she "meet him at home" too? What's good for the goose, etc.

All I know is, nobody (especially women) should mention "free sex", as if she's doesn't enjoy the financial benefits that come with having a boyfriend/husband. That money spent over 6-years on outings and urgent 2k, can buy property in some parts. Don't say he had "free" sex... there was an opportunity cost of being with her.

Move on.. sell all the properties you have in both names.. she doesn't deserve a life with the good man..
Frankly, I don't think this is good advice. Chances are we won't be saying this to the wife had the situations been reversed. Men do this kind of crap all the time (up to and including infidelity), but we ask the wife to endure, as long as there's no physical abuse, and the man changes his ways. In this case, I will ask OP to endure, forgive, and come to a better understanding with his wife. For better or for worse, etc.

OP, I can sympathize with you, but do understand that women in this country have been through a lot. Many times, they will work their fingers to the bone to support a spendthrift husband. Or help build a house that the husband will one day throw her out of.

It must be very hard for you, but try to have a mature conversation with her to understand the motivation behind what she did...

Well that's the point of her game isn't it? You either rush and marry her, or give her licence to become a free agent. 6 years no be beans, and no matter your decision, she has forced your hands. Chess.

I have never been this confused in my entire life...

I have a girlfriend that we have been dating for 6 years now... she tells me I am not entitled to sex because I have not paid her bride price. I just could not understand the sudden change in her attitude towards sex when wedding is next year.
Well, it has been six years, which is a lifetime in women-years (as per ability to have children, etc). Have you proposed? You can always marry in a small ceremony now.

Obviously, this is an ultimatum she's trying (probably learned from some friends), and look it's working: you will either propose and marry right away, or she becomes a free agent... I'm sure she's getting a lot of offers, and she can't waste her youth on somebody who's taking too long to decide.

I asked if her husband is aware of who I am. She stuttered and I just knew he doesn't. She will pay well but it's not about the money. It's more like granting a favour but I feel she's got an ulterior motive somewhere. And me, I have a soft spot for her and my flesh is very, very weak.

Modified.
I'm sorry to say but many of you reason like kids. I have no intention of sleeping with her. I'm principled never to sleep with any of my exes. Do you have any idea how many women are on this planet? What is wrong with the lot of you? I just find it hard to turn her down because she's such a good person.
First, unfortunately, your "principles not to sleep with an ex" are contradicted by the first paragraph about ulterior motives, soft spot, and flesh being weak, so it's no surprise people have that in mind.

Second: she should find and pay well for a reliable manager. I can't imagine it would be more expensive than paying for a monthly flight back to Lagos. You don't want to be part of whatever drama is cooking.

Let me be honest: I have nothing but ulterior motives for most of my exes. If I happen to be in their lives again, I will want to bang 'em. And in most cases the feeling is mutual. To avoid stories that touch, we avoid each other. I can't be friends with my ex, or help her do anything. That's just me, and I'm owning up to it grin

Or wait, is the OP the lady in question? Who is actually asking this question?

Give amnesty to BH, rehabilitate them. Tolerate herdsmen banditry all over. But when it comes to ESN... kill them. The only thing this tells me is ESN needs to arm themselves with real weapons just as boko boys. Then we'll see how the army can raid them.

Medical tourism is about the quality of service and not mere building.

If you want, build a world class hospital and populate it with the kind of hospital workers we have in Nigeria, quack service will be inevitable.
This was my thought too... we really need a well-trained medical workforce who take their profession seriously.
