Is that not a sting ray? Those chaps can kill with a strike of the tail. People should be careful handling sea creatures they don't know. A famous death was the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin... he died after being struck in the chest by one of these. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2006/sep/04/broadcasting.travelnews |
It's that time of year again... when joysticks somehow and inexplicably disappear, only to reappear upon inspection. Poor woman... there are genuinely bad people around (who kidnap kids, and murder others for ritual), but organ stealing only appears to happen in the imagination of Nigerians. Not once has a crowd seen incontrovertible evidence of a man missing his vitals. |
Queen Ajoke looking very portable. ![]() But let me respect myself and Alaafin, and just wish her a happy birthday |
So it's been OK all this while for them to kill civilians in the name of law enforcement and chasing people, but once the tables turn for just a little bit they start crying... Good thing youths eyes have opened. This week without much police presence has been a blessing. All our okada, keke, and other drivers can work in peace... at least until the police return to harassing us again. |
This is is a wise step in the right direction... we also need to tackle the original reasons for the unrest: massive unemployment and hunger, inadequate pay for officers, and lack of reprimand when an officer breaks their mandate. |
Even Oba's staff is Made in China ![]() Wetin we no go hear for Naija ![]() |
We know that in US, "buy" means "loan". And in Nigeria "I bought" usually means "my big god bought it". But not hating... life's too short to be careful all the time. Make she enjoy! |
zangaozanga:Funny guy: in East, they kidnap in West, they mine skulls in North East, they blow up in North West and North Central, they machete Nowhere is safe my brother, let's stop the sectionalism. |
guru90:And she in turn has robbed some people. Does she need all this in her house? Don't we understand the meaning of sharing? Now she has a hoard at the expense of others, exactly like where she took it from. Any difference? |
This is the same greed we're accusing our leaders of. Does she need so much? Why didn't she just take a bit, so that others will have? ![]() This is what I mean by: leaders and citizens both have to change their ways. |
olujastro:No mind am.. it's quite sad that we as a people can't even be bothered by President's word. Second - I go try this Buhari style next tomorrow ![]() |
I will not be tuning in. I will be watching the grass grow in my backyard... it's bound to be way more useful than to listen to PMB ![]() |
nextstep: Emekaonline:All I said is "Lagosians have taken the authority of the Oba of Lagos" because they're angry. This power currently resides with the youths of Lagos, and as of now, they will not listen to any commands he makes. This is unprecedented, and it's a reminder that all power ultimately derives from the people. Eventually, once he has appeased the youths and his ancestors, the authority will be restored to him. What has this got to do with anything outside Lagos? |
O gah oh. Oba of Lagos right now has no authority... the people have taken back his staff of office. I've never experienced this before oh... this one pass "boys dey para" |
Szkpytqgdcvx925:The United States was built in great anger and violence against a tyrannical King. As was the French Republic. |
baralatie:the bolded is how revolutions start... gov't needs to tread very carefully... |
What wealth? ![]() Who's got any wealth to pass down to their children in this Nigeria? ![]() This protest is something else o... everybody dey para. It's time sha, after 60 years of mismanagement. |
Make these people take am easy oh... Next thing you know they will deploy soldiers, some protesters go use strong head, and na armed conflict we go dey hear oh... Sofrey sofrey |
ndidibabe:"No Court Sentence, But I Dey Prison Since 2016" - Edo Prisoner Laments. Indefinite detention without a trial violates many national and international laws, including human rights laws. In addition far too many innocents are languishing in jail merely because they can't post bail - which is "free". Yes there are criminals too, but that's why we have a trial where a jury gets to decide guilt. Only the jury can determine guilt, based on evidence before them, not a judge, not the lawyers, and certainly not law enforcement (police). Systems of justice are structured so that no innocent person is unjustly incarcerated, at the risk of letting real criminals go once in a while. |
ProfAmaben:I understand what you're trying to say, but you do realize that a large number of USA grandparents ran away from their own homes in Europe. Even Trump's mom and paternal grandfather were foreign born. Trump's father was an "anchor baby" ![]() |
The fear of youths' voices is the beginning of wisdom ![]() |
Let's not devolve into nonsense tribalist sentiments. Youths are doing the needful. But if those Kano youths catch Buhari enh... ![]() Something has definitely changed in their attitudes since 2019. |
And someone will come and ask if it's OK for #EndSars protesters to block road. ![]() 5 hours delayed on road vs a lifetime of being a crippled by police... you choose. Any minor (and temporary) inconvenience by all Nigerians to secure a better future is welcome abeg. |
gidgiddy:My brother you wrote well, and I hope these are indeed bandits and not some innocents. I too don't support these murders, but however, notice: - these are alleged bandits. After arrest, most would have posted - vigilantes are rounding up bandits... something police has refused to do - unarmed Black Americans are killed extra-judiciously, routinely, by their police. Hence the riots. |
You know these "hoodlums" are former SARs officers in mufti... ![]() |
Reference:I see your point. However, what I was driving at is, no matter how many countries Nigeria becomes, the leaders of each country will be the same as the leaders in Nigeria today, unless youth choose wisely. Let me just take this "definition of what corruption is"; no region has decided that corruption is bad, as in senators, governors, reps, LGA chairmen from every place chop and clean mouth. What kind of restructuring, round table, can repair this? Often when I mention countries that have developed in spite of their varied populations, people huffily state that we're different. UK has 4 tribes (English, Welsh, Scots, Irish) that fought for nearly 1000 years. India and China have countless ethnicities. US is made of people all over Europe (English, Germans, Irish, Italians, West Africans, Indians, etc). Malaysia, Indonesia, also, multiple ethnic groups. All with their own interests, and backgrounds. I find no need to restructure or come to more round table discussions. Just serve your people justly and honestly. |
lymelyte:It's also there: Youths, you've seen what your voice can do in the #EndSars campaign... do not waste your voice in 2023. In other words, since the leaders are causing problems, don't sit back and let others choose the same bad leaders next time. |
tollyboy5: Reference:My brothers, it's not the terminology that's the problem: ECN (gov't) -> NEPA (gov't) -> PHCN (public holding) -> LDC (private). Still no light. No matter how we rearrange, restructure, or restructuring the country; whether they are in one large barrel or several baskets, we still have the same bad apples. |
I used to have a spec... then I realized that my type is every type ![]() As long as she's got a good heart and a smart head, I'm OK. |
Everybody likes using the word: restructure like it's a magic pill. We have LGA chairpersons, reps, senators... how come schools in their districts are not world-class? Let me see just one example of a part of Nigeria that's fair and equitable to all, and I will say OK, those guys will benefit from restructuring. Delta suffered when it was part of Western Region. Ekiti suffered when it was part of Ondo. Ask the beggars and codeine takers in North West and North Central if their elites give a rat's ass about them. Why would their lot improved if restructured? Will the destitute in North East suddenly get their lives back if restructured? Why are so many poor in Western Nigeria (including Lagos)? Why so many ritual killings? How can restructuring help them? All those baby factories and fake medicine makers in East? How will restructuring cure that problem? Is it lack of restructuring that's stopping the South South leaders from taking care of their people and environment? Even when Biafra was around, the masses suffered while the elites enjoyed imported tea and chocolate. The same senators in Abuja will be the same ones in each restructured zone... still stealing money collectively. Youths, you've seen what your voice can do in the #EndSars campaign... do not waste your voice in 2023. |
Iyoocartel: Nightstalker:Bros please be calming down. I consider myself a cyber hustler... I work on contract for developing software. I no be yahoo boy. I no be thief, online or offline. My hustle is as legitimate as somebody doing waiter, mechanic, doing business, or real estate. I too want to "get the bag", but do so honestly, like most people. The punishment for cybercrime is jail and/or fine. Let the process work without the constant threat of death to millions of innocent Nigerians. If somebody is bragging about stealing, they should be investigated by law enforcement, and brought to justice by a jury. |
