PoliticsRe: Germany Produced A Record 23.9 Gigawatts Of Electricity Yesterday by Nightshift(m): 11:41am On Jul 09, 2013
Yesterday, an oil refinery company in the South West city of Karlsruhe, said it's about to start building a 1,200 megawatts gas power plant near its headquarters.
Germany's electricity giant ENBW, is also investing in the project. Germans use waste to generate power; the recent buzz is their ability to harness heats from earth's deep pool thousands of metres below for electricity generation.
PoliticsRe: Germany Produced A Record 23.9 Gigawatts Of Electricity Yesterday by Nightshift(m): 11:24am On Jul 09, 2013
Peterwins: 23.9 Gigawatts = 23,900 Megawatts.

......and Nigeria struggles with 4,000 megawatts for 160 million people.
That figure is only power generated from solar installations. The total power generations from nuclear, hydro, coal , gas, solar, etc in Germany are over 800,000 Megawatts! What Nigeria generates cannot power Munich or Stuttgart.
Small Austria with about 8 million population has over 100,000 Megawatts!

No, but i grew up in Enyimba city listening to such great music for decades.
I still have some collection of the group's albums. Discussing Ikeji festival during my high school days was fun. I do sing some of the chorus as well, especially the tracks on "Oderigugu" by title album.

You will be forced to marry the chief priest of their village shrine. Sounds good? grin

According to oral history, some medicine men from Okposi or some part of Ebonyi brought the female snake to their community

Another snake worshipping part of Igboland ( Eke Idemili comes to mind) are those Ohaozara villages.

In my Nkanu part of Igboland, green snakes are regarded dangerous and are said to sprint like Carl Lewis grin

PoliticsRe: APC, Danger To Nigeria - Ezeife, Ex-Anambra Governor by Nightshift(m): 11:48am On Jul 07, 2013
PDP is neither conservative nor progressive; there aren't any differences between the party and Umaru Dikko/ Uba Ahmed/ Olushola Saraki's NPN. By the time those shameless hawks finish with Nigeria, Greece will be a paradise compared to the country left as Nigeria.
Under what motto does a political party without ideology operate? No wonder we have an over-bloated national assembly that feeds off the masses and no one sees anything wrong about it.
PoliticsRe: APC, Danger To Nigeria - Ezeife, Ex-Anambra Governor by Nightshift(m): 11:29am On Jul 07, 2013
Without ideology, Nigeria's major political parties are more like narco-cartels. The only thing they haven't done is hanging ordinary Nigerians on top of bridges across the country.
PoliticsRe: Ifeanyi Ubah Capital Oil Shots Fans. by Nightshift(m): 11:03pm On Jul 06, 2013
Gun shots during political campaign aren't new in Nigeria politics.
Rewind it back to 1983 election campaigns, NPN was the face of gun-running goons . Politics in 9ja is not for angels- it's a knife-fight out there!
PoliticsRe: Most Frequent Governor In Aso Rock ...and Least Frequent Revealed. by Nightshift(m): 9:59pm On Jul 06, 2013
No governor needs to frequent Abuja before attracting Mr president's attention. Former governor of Imo State, Dede Sam Onunaka Mbakwe, did it better by crying before then president Shagari for more federal help for his beloved state. The nice governor got all he wanted and eventually earned the tag "Oliver Twist" governor.
BusinessRe: Is Shoprite Business Good For Nigeria? by Nightshift(m):
Big grocery stores like Shoprite is part of modern lifestyle in developed world. Nigeria is developing and needs such shops. Nigeria's retail businesses survived good old Leventis, UAC and Kingsway stores for decades.

The real danger to Nigerian economy are the copycats in China who are killing our industries with fake and substandard goods. We are opening our doors to the Chinese at our own peril!
PoliticsRe: EU Loses $153 BILLION To Corruption Yearly by Nightshift(m):
The million dollar question is, how can Africa recover it's stolen billions of dollars stashed in European banks? Europe's laws do not respect Europeans caught in corruption, whereas in Africa few countries get their corrupt officials imprisoned. Tax evasion alone can get one jailed for some years in Central Europe.
If we can reach Europe's level in fight against corruption, then Africa will be million times better than it is now. Diehard patriotism is required to fight corruption in Africa!

Gov Chime should also finish the Conference Centre started by former Gov Nnamani. The unfinished edifice has remained an eyesore. Besides, Coal city deserves such a centre.
Solid looking jobs by Chime there......as usual.

I wish we could find a way of getting more money for Enugu reconstruction. Until the coming of Chime, it hasn't witnessed any major works ever since the end of the civil war. Imagine what Enugu would turn into if he had an extra billioon dollars to work with.
If Gov Chime had billions of dollars to work with, he would turn Enugu to practical Southeast's Berlin. With the little he has, he has been able to show that a poor state in Nigeria can achieve a lot with prudent financial management.
