Billyonaire: You call Nigeria hell hole, yet your relatives are marrying and residing in the hell hole. These "I wanna-gonna" toilet washers sef. They never stop to amuse us. No comfortable Nigerian lives abroad. I keep saying I love Owerri more than New York.

It is a hell hole. My relatives that choose to live there are adults and are responsible for their own decisions. Everytime you tell these mofos you hate that shytehole, they come up with the line ''but many people are making money there''. Who dafuq told you I care about the dirty money you are making? I love washing toilets and I'd rather be washing toilets in London than washing toilets in Lagos. grin

odumchi: Based on my own personal observations, I've noticed a few things that continue to plague we Africans in the West and especially in America.

Here are those things:

1. There is an African proverb that goes, "It takes a village to raise a child". In a society that places much of an emphasis on the nuclear family and little on the extended family, it is very difficult to raise a child [up to African standards] with the absence of the "village". If the father and mother are at work, then the child is either left to his/her own care or the care of a babysitter. Such a condition does not support the passage of lineal knowledge, advice, and proverbs as is customary in most African cultures.

2. In a country where most people speak only one language (like America), it would be very difficult for one to properly allow his/her children to grow well acquainted with their native tongue, unless of course great care is taken. As for us Nigerians, the shameful truth is that many of our children born and raised in the diaspora are unable to communicate with us in their native tongues.

3. When a child is born, he/she immediately takes a liken to his/her immediate locality. We Africans (in my opinion) must continue to remind ourselves and our children that we are mere visitors and not settlers. I've seen too many cases in which an Amercan-born African child is rarely taken home by the parents but then, when marriage comes around, is forced to search home for a spouse. If your child cannot even say the name of his community, then don't expect him/her to marry from there when the time comes.

Although the dangers are many, living in the West can be rewarding if approached properly. I'd like to hear some of you guys' ideas/responses/attitudes.

1. When I grew up in Nigeria, both my parents were (and are still) working. No village took care of me. Every family on the street would mind their business. I dont think I turned out too bad.

2. Does Obama speak Kenyanese? I dont think he turned out bad.

3. I am not a visitor, I have infact settled, call this place home and I have no plans to go back. My children were born here and will live their lives here. They are not visitors, they are indigenous.

A-40:

the question is who is the bird brain that ratified that contract in the first place

Chamberlain has not justified his selection at both levels

That "bird brain" is one of the most successful Arsenal managers. We all know he worked his way to the top and not through any dubious means. If that man is a bird brain, you need to br asking yourself serious questions about where you are in life. Because it is one of 2 things. Either your human brain is dead weight or u have an insect brain.

Point of correction: Ehem it should be Diaby had a good game against Liverpool not Diaby has had a good start to the season

Comparing Djourou to RVP. I laff in Djourou grin grin

Will Peyton Manning (QB) earn the same amount as his random teammates? Cos that's what RVP was to Arsenal

I hope you are just being pedantic with the bolded statement above cos if you are not, you are definitely an Arsenal/ Diaby hater or one of those plastic fans that cant tell their arr$$e from their head.

Diaby has played 4 games this season and has been solid in all four. It isnt only when Arsenal win that one gives players credit. Are you related to Piers Morgan by any chance?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Is Wayne Rooney Over Rated by norrisman: 9:50am On Sep 07, 2012
He is definitely over rated and you dont need to ask to know this. Being English helps a lot when you are in Premiership otherwise Andy Carroll wouldnt cost £35 million and Wayne Bridge wouldnt be on £90,000/week.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by norrisman: 9:30am On Sep 07, 2012
When Djouoru was playing his heart out at the beginning of 2010/2011 where wan Van Pu$$ie? On the treatment table collecting a salary (like he had been doing for the preceeding 6 years) without contributing anything. Djourou got inujred in the Newcastle game and went off at half time when the team was leading 4 nil. we all know what the result was at the end of that game.

Remuneration in football does not really correlate to your performance. If it was everyone will be rewarded on a Pay-as-you-play basis. Your remuneartion depends on a lot of factors which include your agent, need and financial power of the buying club, your past (past not future) performances e.t.c. otherwise why would Wayne Bridge be on £90,000 per week while Piennar is on £60,000, Andy Carroll valued at £35 million and Carzola £11 million and Samuel Eto'o on £20 million/year while Neymar is on £3 million/year.

Going by your argument:
Bridge > Piennar
Carroll > Carzola
Eto'o > Neymar

Any sensible person knows this is not the case.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by norrisman: 5:54am On Sep 07, 2012
Before the start of the season, the glory hunting fans were asking for a clearout of non marquee players like Djourou, Bendtner, Diaby e.t.c Imagine if Arsene went ahead and extended Diaby's contract by 2 years to 2016, the GH fans would have said stuff like sell that injury prone useless player and pay Van P€r$i€ wages with the savings.

Now Diaby has started the season well and if (touch wood) he manages to stay fit and has an amazing season and becomes the darling of other clubs, the same moronic GH fans who asked for him to be sold will start asking why Arsenal let his contract run to within 1 year of expiry.

These GH fans that critisize the board couldnt run a sweet shop profitably in a school for rich kids let alone a complex multimillion pound business like a football club.

Just because Arsenal declare a profit doesnt mean the shareholders pocket all the profit but hey even if they did, I'd not hold it agagainst them. Afterall they put their money where their mouth is.

It is obvious the owners and custodians of AFC have the best interest of the club in mind otherwise Arsenal wouldnt have a world class training facility at London Colney, a mordern stadium and one of the best football academies in the country.

Arsenal can not pay Man City or Chelsea wages. People want Djourou to get £15,000 but V. Persie to get £250,000 yet play in the same team. I wonder how many people would continue working for an organisation where their peers doing the same job are paid 15 times better than them.
Travel / Re: After Suspension: Would You Fly Dana Air ? by norrisman: 6:17pm On Sep 06, 2012
Moronic Nigerians. The grounding of the airline was a precautionary measure whilst investigations into the June 3 crash were ongoing. Now the airline has been given a clean bill of health, I see no reason why one shouldnt fly with DANA. If everyone switched airlines after a crash no major airline will exist today as every one of them has had major crashes in their history.

Why are people still flying Air France after its Concorde crash in Paris and Airbus crash ove the Atlantic?

Why are people still flying US Airways after the crash in the Hudson River?

Why are people still flying British Airways after its 777 crash landed at Heathrow. In fact what happened to the 777 enroute from China was no different from what happened on that unfortunate Dana Air flight. The BA 777 plane lost all power but the pilots and passengers just had the good fortune that it happened within a distance in which they could glide to the airport. They barely scaled the airport's perimeter fence.

Politics / Re: Cynthia’s Murder: Hotel Workers Sacked For Negligence by norrisman: 5:58pm On Aug 30, 2012
duni04: If they could charge the innocent young man that supposedly sold the sedative to Cynthia's murderers with murder, a young boy doing his IT at the pharmacy and who may not even have been on duty when the drug was sold, I see no reason why hotel workers who were there at the scene of the murder, who spoke to the murderers and gave them a room, who allowed the murderers book a room without ID'S, should not be charged for murder too. Is it because they have money? Ultimately, this trial is going to turn into a charade and a serious miscarriage of justice.

Like you read my mind. Thank God we still have a few sane people in Nigeria because it seems the majority are brainless morons.

Why havent they charged the hotel staff with murder including the housekeeper who cleaned the room that a murder was committed in and the gateman that opened the gate to the hotel a murder was committed in. Lets not stop there. Let them also charge the cab driver that took the murderers to the airport to pick Cynthia as he drove the car that was used to pick up a girl that was murdered. Let them also charge the man/woman that sold the murderes pure water in traffic on their way to pick up a girl they murdered. Lets even charge their parents for having sex to produce offspring that committed murder

Okija_juju:

WTF!!!!

Its like a Gun dealer selling a weapon to someone who isnt licensed to own one and the person used it to kill someone..

And whats that bollocks you just said about the UK?! In the UK, no pharmacist would even talk to you without a valid prescription.. Y

A gun dealer who sells a gun to someone who then goes on to use the same gun to commit a murder will not be charged with murder. he will be charged with illegal sale of firearms or something to that effect.

A drug dealer who sells cocaine (an illegal drug) to someone who goes on to carry out a murder under the effect of the said drug will not be charged with murder, he will be charged with the distribution of controlled substances.

A corner store owner who sells a knife to an underaged child who then uses the knife to commit a murder will no be charged with murder, he will be charged with selling an offensive weapon to a minor

If the gun seller, drug dealer or corner store owner knew the intentions of their clientle at the time of the transactions then they can be charged as accessories to the crime committed.

Imagine a video store owner who sells an xrated video to a 15 year old (a minor) who goes home, watches the video, gets ecited and then rapes a neighbours 8 year old. Will the video store owner be charged for rape? If the minor claims the video prompted his actions, the worst the video store owner can be charged for is 'sale of material harmful to minors'

I will bet my last penny that you have personally bought drugs (that need a prescription) without prescription in Nigeria. I can confidently say that you do not know what a Nigerian doctor's prescription looks like as you have never seen one before.
Politics / Re: Nonso-Maduakor Wrongfully Charged For Cynthia's Murder by norrisman: 4:33pm On Aug 29, 2012
Murder = delibrate act to kill
Manslaughter = either voluntary or involuntary (depending on jurisdiction) action that leads to a death.

The pharmacist has nothing to do with the murder! End of story. Nigeria is a failed state. In the UK the CPS would not even bring such a charge as it has no chance of success and it would amount to wasting the courts time. Are the state prosecutors in Nigeria this dumb? If the pharmacist agreed to selling the said drug to the undercover policeman after the policeman told him he planned to use the drug to sedate a girl and then have sex with her, then a case of conspiracy may be built against the pharmacist.

The pharmacist did what is practised all over Nigeria. Like I said, in my 25 years of living in Nigeria, not once was ever asked for a prescription to by drugs. You can buy injections, blood e.t.c in Nigeria just like u were buying garri in the market. Do you go and arrest the man selling otapiapia in traffic after a house girl uses the said otapiapia to poison the master of the house.

For legality sake and for those baying for blood, the worst that should happen to the pharmacist is that he should have his license revoked and charged and punished for the crime of 'selling a drug without prescription'

The man knows nothing about the murder!

coogar:

and this is exactly why i said the pharmacist's case is a bit complicated. we all know nigerian pharmacists sell everything under the sun to anyone. most of them are not even qualified pharmacists so they are not breaking any ethic code of the beloved profession!

the pharmacist should get a good lawyer and argue his case. i also hope some of the victims of these murderers who were lucky to survive their ordeal should be interrogated to see if the pharmacist has ever been involved in this heinous crime....

The Pharmacist should not have been charged except there is evidence directly linking him to the crime and not just for the reason that he happened to sell the drug used to carry out this dastardly act. Hell, I have seen people selling complet kitchen knife sets in traffic before!
Politics / Re: Four Charged For Cynthia Osokogu's Murder by norrisman: 10:27am On Aug 28, 2012
Why are there so many people taliking about prescription in Nigeria? I lived in Nigeria for 25 years and I have never seen a prescription note before. I have bought every drug you can imagine under the sun and not once have I been asked for a prescription note. I have had top doctors in top hospitals write down medication for me to buy on a plain piece of paper just so I can remeber the name not as a prescription.

In the UK and other developed countries I would imagine, apart from paracetamol, ibruprofen and some cough mixtures, every other drug requires a prescription. I would imagine this is the same way it should be in Nigeria but if any slowpoke can tell me they have never bought a drug in Nigeria apart from the 3 I listed without a prescription, then they are only fooling themselves.

Imagine turnig up at a pharmacy (popularly called chemist) in Nigeria to buy some malaria medication and you are turned away by the attendant because you do not have a prescription. Now that would be laughbale!

He is being supplied with electricity which he is paying for. If he is indeed depriving residents of the area of electricity, you may say he has failed in his social responsibility but definitely hasnt done anything illegal or to be castigated for.

The thing is the man hasnt even been charged with rape. How can you be accused of raping someone you turned up at an event with hand in hand a day after the alleged rape?

Assange is wanted in Sweden for questioning relating to the allegations. Assange and then later the Ecuadorians asked for a gurantee from Sweden that he (Assange) will not be sent to a 3rd country (US) if he goes to Sweden. The Swedish government failed to give any gurantees. Why cant the Swedish authorities send their prosecutors to the UK to question Assange? It seems they are more interested in serving the interest of their master (US) than seeking justice for their citizens who allege crimes have been committed.
