Thank you! I majored in French in university but I still took out about 6 months to specifically prepare for the exam. Preparing for it wasn’t easy as I have a lot going on. While the preparation was during a 6 month period, I didn’t really study as hard as I should have daily. On my first try, I got all the scores I needed for three sections but my speaking was a few points below the cutoff I needed to meet so I took it a second time and achieved my desired results.
My additional advice to you would be to prioritize your French even further. Once you have your PR and are looking for a job, you may want to start looking into applying for government roles, if you are interested. You look for bilingual positions, design your CV appropriately, and start shooting them out. Opportunities abound in the Canadian government for talents like yours.

Impressive! Congrats once again. I'm always happy to see someone put in rewarding effort like this.
I also have a friend who is trying to do some French without prior experience, and it's been a bit challenging.

Hello everyone, just sharing an update on my process while I waitttt for four months to pass cry I got my successful TEF results last week so I have those extra 50 points for French. I haven’t taken my IELTS yet but I’m registered to take it next week. If my French results were just a teeny bit better (C1 all around), I wouldn’t have needed to take IELTS but with just 3 B2+s and 1 C1 in TEF with 3 years work experience, my eligibility is 64/100 so I need to take IELTS.

At 28, married, masters degree, husband with 2 or more certificates, B2 + for TEF, maxed IELTS, and 3 years work experience, we’re looking at a CRS of 525…with IELTS results of 8777, a CRS of 513.

I’m the principal applicant because my husband has lost points for age, can’t speak French and has already taken IELTS twice (both of which are now even expired.) If he was the principal applicant with our current profile, the max CRS we can have is 462. So I’m glad I can be the principal applicant and we’ll have a good enough CRS.

Only thing now is despite all my existing work experience, none is 1 year continuous. My current job is 8 months gone so I have to wait until April 2024 before I can enter the pool even though I have everything else ready cry ECA and TEF and soon IELTS.

I can’t wait for 4 months to fly by so I can finally enter the pool and get that ITA I have so desired to get since I found out about express entry in 2017.
Massive congrats on your French effort. Just wanna ask how long it took you to get the French done? How challenging did you find it? Did you have any prior French knowledge?
FamilyRe: Single Nigerian Ladies In Diaspora, Any Reason Why You Turn Down Our Guys? by NuCypher: 6:08pm On Nov 29, 2023

I am not in the diaspora but I stumbled on a thread where someone made a sensible comment about this same issue.

They said something to the effect of everyone being too smart because of their papers/stay, nobody wants to compromise or make sacrifices, for the sake of an authentic relationship because too much sense is worrying all of you there.Na una know wetin dey worry all of you sha!

From my observations, there's a tendency in most of you japarians to gravitate towards self conceit and a vain superiority complex, where you start to think you're better than other Nigerians because;

1. You've lived in obodo for XYZ number of years or you have papers, so even new immigrant Nigerians are like an affront to you guys (meaning their very presence in your host country is like an offence)

2. You think with your papers you have finally arrived what can any Nigerian offer you again. But your papers alone don't provide healthy social interactions, good friendships or companionship, laughter and fun moments with others.

I see that superiority complex even here on NL with folks who haven't lived overseas for 2 years, I smile and shake my head, thinking to myself, poverty is really not a good thing. When you grow up privileged very little about the white man trips you to a point where you start to insult or look down on your country and fellow country men. Because you grow up knowing what your own people are made of and capable of. It's not so much about privilege alone, but having a healthy dose and sense of self worth, self esteem and self love.

My friend engaged an asian cabbie in conversation in the UK, while riding in his car. The cabbie told her it is very disappointing to see the way we Africans/Nigerians in particular behave overseas. He said we are quick to throw away our cultural values to embrace western ones, we are the ones who are quick to talk back to parents and disrespect them (that was an incident he witnessed in his cab with a Nigerian family)

Whereas he sees Indians, Chinese and some Asians hold onto their cultural values and practices, maintaining the family unit, and refusing to let the west negatively influence them. I think the cabbie's experience and narrative, may help you understand why you are having a hard time finding a Nigerian date.
Your generalizations on Nigerian men is very disturbing. This is about the umpteenth time I'm seeing a variant of this your disturbing opinion which really has no basis in reality. Contrary to what you think, many Nigerians are keeping a low profile abroad and will barely show off their papers or their fortune, if they have any. But apparently, the loud ones have sounded enough gong to get into your ears and make them think they are the majority. You truly need to readjust.

You earn 100k dollars and can’t afford rent of 2500?

How many people even earn up to 100k$ annually? Yet they still pay their rents.
At $100k a month, a 2500 apartment is already around 35-40% of monthly income. Anyone doing that is just asking for trouble in this inflation-ridden economy.

Direct flights from where? There are no direct flights from Canada to Nigeria. Getting to the US first is as direct as it gets.

Hello guys,i got ITA last month and i have a pressing question. I plan to use gift deed for my entire POF for a family of 2.
In your experience,do you think it'd raise any eyebrows? I ask because I've been working for over 10 years in total. I hope it doesn't seem weird that I'm using a gift deed for all of it.
Read page 1. It's not a problem to use 100% gift deed. Just make sure to have your base covered. The idea is that the 100% gift deed must now be completely yours and not a loan you have to pay back.

A family friend is about submitting their application, however, the husband has a child outside wedlock who lives with his mum and won’t be accompanying them. Also, my friend and her husband are yet to have a child. Should she select family of 2 (since it’s just her and her husband) or family of 3 to include her stepchild who doesn’t live with them and isn’t relocating with them as he is still underage and with his mum.

Would declaring funds and filling in family of 2 be deemed as misinterpretation?

The reason why they are confused was that her husband never married the lady and also, the lady isn’t willing to give up her child to them. So they are confused if to add the child or not as either ways, the child isn’t accompanying them. They just want to be on the safe side and don’t want anything to ruin their application

What are the pros and cons
That's his child whether accompanying or not. You have to provide your full history. They want to know every single thing about you that there is to know.

There's some wisdom in OP's post. The lazy lifestyle of Nigerians is why they can't stomach living in the West. It's a place where you have to earn your dollar.

Please how do i apply to university of Toronto to study data science
Go to their website and apply. It's utoronto.ca. They offer MASc in Computing with concentration in data science. That's the closest they offer in terms of explicit data science. Otherwise, you can apply to their Statistics program and you will also get the option to choose several data science courses, especially those leveraging on statistics. I did that Statistics program and can tell you for free it's not a walk in park, so be sure what you want to get into. The MASc is more expensive and relatively easier to get into as long as you have the money, but there are scholarship options available, e.g. Vector Scholarship. The Statistics program is cheaper, but more difficult to get into and to pass. If you want to attend the University of Toronto, make sure you know what you are doing. Nobody is going to hold your hand through your course.

Children born in the US do not take this vaccines?
American propaganda sees to it that most parents generally do not have their kids vaccinated. This is predominant both in the white and black communities and for different reasons. For blacks, years of being used as experimental subjects makes them skeptical of trusting the government and taking their vacccines, while for whites, it's sometimes driven by religion. The good thing is that the low incidence of viruses and earlier years of immunization has reduced the incidence of diseases in children in the country.

Many Nigerians take such things for granted. When Covid started ravaging places like New York and Italy, there were theories that it was going to decimate Africa (especially Nigeria) once it gets there, especially given the high human density in places like Lagos. Many people were scared. Regardless, when Covid got into Lagos, it barely did any damage. Nigerians were barely washing hands or using face masks, yet nothing happened to them. This surprised many public health experts who had expected carnage. When it went for long enough and Covid didn't seem like a problem in densely populated places like Lagos, one theory advanced was that the many vaccines people in Lagos certainly took in the childhood may have been responsible for the inherent immunity they developed against flu-like viruses like Covid. While nobody knows for certain, there's likely some truth there.

Many Nigerians don't know the good the vaccines they took in childhood was. They grow up, listen to American propaganda and suddenly think vaccines are Bill Gates trying to take over the world. The same Bill Gates that sponsored their polio vaccine....dey play

Good day Nairalanders. I have a question please. A friend of mine recently got ITA in the CBD. The issue is that they weren't really expecting it yhis soon and so their POF is not ready. They would like to use an agent for the gift deed POF. Please can you guide to the process or necessary documentation required?

Any help or input is greatly appreciated.
Getting an agent for your gift deed is...well...not appropriate. You are putting your application at risk. Some people have done it and gotten away with it, while some ended up getting misrepresentation (maybe a few). I doubt you'll find any concrete advice regarding this on the forum, because it's not recommended. But then, if you want to do it, I'm sure you can find a lot of agencies that will do it for you at a high interest rate. Just google. Why not try find family who can give you the money?

FamilyRe: How Would You Handle A Partner's Drastic Personality Change During Hard Times? by NuCypher:
Persephone1:
How did the man handle his own loss and misfortunes?

Most men struggle to remain the loving, responsible, cheerful and peaceful men they were when they experience setbacks. Most men's mental stability is attached to their ability to provide and spend. How do they react when things don't go the way they want.?

I believe this narrative of women changing when things go sour should be checked. It is far from reality! It is an exaggeration also. There are women who stand by their husbands . At least "your mothers" did that. And when women change was it really due to lack of funds or the inability of both husband and wife to manage themselves.

You all want women to support and also care for an overgrown harsh baby who refused to grow up and work towards overcoming his challenges. Abeg!
You are asking for too much. How do you expect a man who just suffered major setbacks to remain the "loving, responsible, cheerful and peaceful man" he once was? Are you living in la-la land? Such experiences are too jarring to ever make him keep his head straight. Of course, this doesn't justify assaulting his wife, sexually, physically or emotionally. Having said that, this is probably the time the man needs his wife more, to stand by him and make him whole and not judge him based on his misfortune. I wonder why you can't see that.
