Politics / Re: Court Quashes Debe's Suit, Awards Ojukwu's Will To Bianca by Nwanna2588: 7:44am On Mar 30
xstyle:
Wait! Bianca didn't complain to the court, so it must have been Debe who took the matter to Enugu. Again, the issue started when Ojukwu was alive but he didn't dissociate himself from the said will. However Dede would have proved that some of those properties weren't Ojukwu's property, that is, the Estate belongs to Ojukwu's father (Debe grand grandfather) so without the grandfather legitimately passing the property to Ojukwu, he can't pass it on to another person. Moreover, how can a stranger inherit an ancestral land, Debe needs better lawyers.

Alright, let me break it down simply. Ojukwu was a big figure who, after a war, had a lot of his family's properties taken away. These properties were really important and valuable. He had to leave his country for a long time, and while he was gone, nobody could get those properties back. When he finally returned, he fought through the legal system to get many of them back. There's a memorable story about one property in Lagos that soldiers had taken over, claiming it was theirs, but Ojukwu managed to kick them out and reclaim it. However, not all properties were recovered, like the Ojukwu Garage in the Mile 12 market.

Now, about his personal life, Ojukwu had four wives, but Bianca was the one he loved the most. So, he decided to leave everything he owned to her. There was drama with Debe, who was Ojukwu's son, but Ojukwu did not fully accept him. Debe and another one of Ojukwu's sons are still fighting over who is the rightful first son.

The story gets more complicated because, legally, Bianca has the rights to Ojukwu's properties, but morally, people think she should share with all of Ojukwu's children, including Debe, because they all are his family, after all. It's about doing what's fair and right beyond just the law.

They will use Lisgrey third party recovery company. Their strategy is to threaten you with law enforcement agents.

My advice to you is to pay the exact amount they gave you without the interest. If you pay the amount you were given credit bureau will clear you and you won't have any cause to panic about any threat.

I really don't know why people tend to reverence Ojukwu that dragged an ethnic group in killing of millions due to his selfish ambition for not being made head of state after the death of Ironsi, that was the beginning of the whole issue. All other excuses for the war was all a smoke screen

And err you have! Ojukwu, he not desire to become President after Ironsi's demise. Nay, he oppose the notion of forsaking army hierarchy. He plainly state: 'Twas General Ogundipe who ought to ascend to the presidency. Off with you, delve into your history!

Politics / Re: 60 Reps Seek Change From Presidential To Parliamentary System by Nwanna2588: 7:23am On Feb 15
No, no, no, no, not nowadays when we've tried both. This was how things went down in the old days, like back in the First Republic. Even though I wasn't around then, I've read about it, and trust me, it's not good for us. If you're from the South and you're all for a parliamentary system in Nigeria, just know you're handing power over to the North. Plain and simple. The last time we tried it, Tafawa Balewa was the only Nigerian who held such a position, and we all know where he's from. It's a cycle that keeps repeating. I'm not against the North leading Nigeria, but I'm all for our federal character system. This just leads us away from it because sticking with the parliamentary system means the North will consistently hold the top spot in government, which goes against our federal character principle, or whatever you want to call it. So, let's stick with the style we've had since October 1st, 1979. Enough of this Westminster stuff they call responsible government. I don't see how responsible it is. If we can ditch most of their system and stick with the American style, we should. I'm not into that. It's anti-South, plain and simple!

What a comeback! Back in 2006, when the Ivory Coast team was strong, we lost to them. It was a sad day, but I promised we'd get our revenge. In 2013, facing them again in AFCON, we finally avenged that defeat. Fast forward to today, playing in their home turf, and we've done it again! Nigeria, showing our strength. Now, let's set our sights on Cameroon – a team that beat us before. I'm hoping for a Nigerian-Cameroon final, another chance for sweet revenge. Go Super Eagles!

NYSC / Re: Mobilisation: How Undercover Reporter Breached Our System To Enrol Twice – NYSC by Nwanna2588: 6:51pm On Jan 04
The man's defence is puzzling. Investigative journalism has exposed a flaw: thumbprints, not email addresses or phone numbers, are at the core. The question arises: why didn't the system detect a repeated thumbprint? The system is malfunctioning, and online defences only worsen the situation. Banning universities abroad is misguided; the focus should be on individuals exploiting the system, like the man in question. How can one thumbprint multiple times without rejections? Nigeria risks consequences as other countries may reciprocate by banning Unilag students. Recent events at Unilag show opposition is futile. Instead of targeting other universities, the authorities should have started with the NYSC system's thumbprint procedures. The man's dedefenceemains are unclear, raising concerns about collaboration.

Your post highlights the importance of traders being informed and taking proactive measures in business. The proverb "to be forewarned is to be forearmed" rings true in this context, emphasizing the responsibility of owners to act on the information provided. It's crucial for businesses to prioritize the safety of their goods and finances. Your perspective encourages moving beyond ethnic sentiments and holding traders accountable for their actions or lack thereof.quote author=Mynd44 post=127737865]
The police isn't the problem, Nigerians are the problem.

The initial quit notices were served in 2019. The tenants went to court and the court case started. The court finally ruled that POWA had the right to evict and demolish.

POWA applied for a demolition permit, it was issued and the tenants were served a 3-Month notice ending December 31st.

Then they were also served a 24-hour notice on December 30 to remind them.

As at midnight of 12am January 1, those tenants should have left as they didn't have any legal stance or any right to be there, POWA had gone through the needed steps too and so they can't be held liable.

Also note that those asking where the tenants should go, POWA has not been collecting rent since 2019 when the initial quit notices were served. They refused to make plans now this has happened.

The landlord gave them quit notice long before their rent expired .

They took the landlord to court and have not being paying rent ever since.

The court order explicitly told them to vacate the premises with immediate effect.

The landlord was gracious enough to give them till the end of December 2023 and they stubbornly still did not vacate the premises.

Keep defending rubbish

Your initial exposition was commendable, and I was nearly tipping my hat in acknowledgment of your thorough elucidation. However, permit me to express my reservations regarding the denouement of your discourse. It appears that you faltered in the ultimate sentence, asserting that I should persist in defending what may be deemed as nonsensical or egregious. Allow me to clarify that my intent has never been defensive; rather, I sought elucidation.

To admonish me to uphold a defense of perceived nonsense bespeaks a misguided perspective. It is my contention that such a stance exemplifies the very malaise afflicting our dear Nigeria. I beseech you, in this annum, to eschew the employment of vitriolic language and, instead, endeavor to articulate your thoughts with the same finesse displayed at the inception of your communication. Consider this counsel a benevolent suggestion for your refinement.

Okay, like, so everything's been explained, right? Landlord and tenant, like, clash. From a legal standpoint, eviction should match the payment period, you know? Like, if it's yearly, eviction after a year, and for other months, it's based on that. But, like, I've read posts saying a landlord won in court, and now it's just two weeks. Confusing, right? Normally, it's tied to the payment duration. I heard about a case where eviction happened after a year, but the tenant had no place to go. People blame the government. Like, who's wrong? Also, doing this now isn't cool. Imagine someone away for the season, only to return to a demolished place. Not the best time, right? Clarification needed.

I woke up to bad news again – herdsmen killed hundreds in Plateau State. I thought their activities were over without their kinsman in charge, but I was just deceiving myself. Now, without their kinsman leading, what motivates them? My condolences to the deceased. Living in your own country, facing mass killings. What have these people done? Whether Benue, Plateau, or South Kaduna, a state of emergency is needed. Are herdsmen above the law? Complaints about not going to farms, especially affecting bean prices. In the South, Yorubas formed Amotekun; in the Southeast, ESN emerged due to herdsmen. The South South's threat has kept them unharmed. Are these herdsmen greater than Nigeria? One ethnic group causing so much trouble. Nigeria needs to unite against this common enemy. A Benue man left the Northern Union due to killings. Nigeria must recognize the real enemy – the herdsmen. The middle belt, especially, needs to realize this. I'm tired of all this.

I recently sent money to my account of the same banks and it has been deducted yet it has not been credited.

Meanwhile, I've sent this letter of complaint to my bank:

Subject: Request for Reversal of Intra-Transaction

Dear [Bank Name],

I hope this letter finds you well. My name is..., and I hold an account with your bank under the account number...

I am writing to bring to your attention an issue I encountered while using USSD to transfer funds. Unfortunately, I made an error and initiated an intra-transaction instead of the intended inter-transaction. I inadvertently transferred N... to my own GT account on two separate occasions today, 25th December 2023.

I kindly request your assistance in reversing these transactions and crediting the funds back to my GT account. I understand that this mistake was due to my oversight, and I appreciate your understanding and cooperation in rectifying this matter promptly.

Please let me know if you require any additional information to process this reversal. I appreciate your prompt attention to this issue.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Please share your experience to enable me to handle it in the right way.

Dear esteemed NairaLand moderators, this presents a golden opportunity for you to demonstrate the validity of the recent website ban. If your commitment to curbing such issues is steadfast, now is the moment to manifest that dedication. Let us delve into the very essence of the predicament – observe this post that captures attention with its headlines, yet the influx of comments becomes the fulcrum upon which decisions hinge. Contemplate the following: when an individual engages in constructive criticism, the responses often brim with asperity, dripping with the acerbity of harsh commentary.

It behooves you to recognize that this contentious environment is the very catalyst for the aforementioned bans. Allow me to offer sagacious counsel: be proactive in mitigating such circumstances. I refrain from appending any superfluous commentary but proffer a sincere advisory. Consider instances where individuals inject their ethnocentric ideologies, further perpetuating the divisive fissures within Nigeria. The forum becomes a battleground for expressions of animosity, fueling the flames of discord. As vigilant spectators, we implore you to take decisive action this time.

I have perused various threads and encountered appeals invoking the need for moderation, citing the violation of Rule 2 and other regulations. Your repository of rules is vast, yet its efficacy lies dormant on paper, bereft of implementation. The global audience is keenly observing your actions or lack thereof. The onus is on you to transform these rules from mere theoretical constructs into practical safeguards. The scrutiny of the entire world rests upon your shoulders.

I've perused the comments, and predictably, encountered acerbic retorts instead of a discerning analysis. Rather than addressing the core issues, those lambasting educators ought to introspect. Just because your occupation is lucrative doesn't exempt you from recognizing the pressing concerns raised here. Teaching, the progenitor of all professions, demands prioritization for societal advancement. Detractors asserting worthiness despite subpar research are missing the point. A proficient system would curtail such deficiencies. Don't demand research while depriving the means for it. Let's initiate reform, perhaps by elevating education to exclusive status, akin to healthcare. Bemoaning the paltry earnings of graduates is valid, yet defending such injustice undermines meaningful discourse. I conclude my reflections here.

Car Talk / Re: TOYOTA COROLLA: A Wise Choice Decision To Make In Nigeria Today? by Nwanna2588: 6:06pm On Dec 21, 2023
Navigating through the vehicular landscape of choices, akin to the myriad of car options on the market, one observes a familiar pattern. Much like the tendency of Nigerians to gravitate towards a newfound discovery, be it the ubiquitous Macmillan textbooks of yesteryears or the current trend of embracing Lantern quantitative and verbal reasoning.

In this metaphorical journey, I draw a parallel to the Toyota phenomenon, where a singular choice becomes a widespread preference. However, the automotive realm, much like life itself, unfolds a plethora of options, each potentially more fitting for its purpose. The allure of Toyota, celebrated for its fuel efficiency, echoes the collective embrace of a popular choice, perhaps overlooking alternatives with similar merits.

The crux of the matter lies in the propensity of individuals to follow the footsteps of their neighbors, perpetuating trends without delving into the broader spectrum of available options. This inclination, akin to the Toyota factor, manifests in a cascade effect, with one neighbor influencing the other in a domino-like progression.

Yet, inherent in this trend lies a crucial realization—the existence of alternatives that may surpass the current favorite. It beckons one to explore beyond the immediate circle, analogous to venturing into West African countries for more economical solutions. The advice, though specific to car parts, extends as a metaphorical suggestion to probe beyond the familiar and discover cost-effective alternatives.

Furthermore, the astute recommendation emerges: if the pursuit involves repairing your metaphorical car, consider seeking parts in neighboring West African countries like Cotonou, Togo, or Ghana. A venture across borders may not only yield savings but also serve as a testament to the cost disparities influenced by demand dynamics.

In conclusion, the automotive analogy provides a lens through which one can glean insights into the broader human tendency to embrace what is popular without exploring the wealth of alternatives. The Toyota factor, while emblematic of a widespread phenomenon, prompts introspection—encouraging individuals to question, seek alternatives, and, in doing so, potentially find a more economical and fitting solution.

It's been like a whole year since the UK Educational Department was like, "Yo, we're coming to snatch up some teachers," and everyone was super hyped, especially 'cause teachers here don't get much love. They dropped this bomb in February, and teachers went into full prep mode, and let me tell you, it wasn't a cakewalk. It was all about spending, spending, spending – hitting up the old university to dig out certificates, and if you didn't have an international passport, you were scrambling to get one. Gotta be ready when those recruitment folks roll in. They did the same drill for medical personnel, and guess what, they showed up.

Fast forward through March, April, and now, bam, it's December. Ain't nobody seen hide nor hair of those recruiters. Cue the awareness alarm! This piece is all about making noise – like, did they secretly recruit, 'cause it's been radio silence. So here I am, dropping this to shout out if anyone got that golden call from the UK government for Teach for England. We were out here prepping, spending cash, hitting up our old unis for certificates we didn't even know existed. Talking about teaching vibes, the language we used – like, who knew we needed a certificate for that? Or checking if our alma maters vibed with English during our undergrad days.

Some even took it to the next level, getting medically cleared, just to dodge any curveballs. And now, crickets. UK government, you gotta spill the tea. Is anybody out there who got that Teach for England gig after the big announcement? Asking for a friend.
