I get your point, and it's fine. I still think you have a streamlined view of what dating is. First of all, it doesn't always involve intimacy. Then it doesn't have to be for years.

Even if you don't call him your bf, there would definitely be some sort of romantic bond between the both of you before you get engaged (unless you fancy arranged marriages). "A rose by another name would smell as sweet."

It's normal to grieve over the loss of someone you were once so close to. It's normal to feel jealous when it's the other person advertising her attachment to an ex.

But the part where she said "you can go back to any of your exes..." Says alot about alot. Don't end it just yet though. It's just a rough patch that proves that you'd constantly be compared with her ex for sometime. Currently he's higher up the ladder so she attacked you that way. If you know you can be a better partner than he ever was, hang on. If however you do mind being compared, let go.

It's easier to see physical beauty. All the same, what I'd go for (first) depends on what I want.

the point is that you are flirting with her (you even have her passwords now) and wondering if you should make a bold move. Against the backdrop of your friendship with her bf (which is how you met her in the first place) and your own relationship with your gf, it's clear you shouldn't be called anything with friend in it... best friend or boyfriend.
