lol, honestly it's Nigerians that will suffer as a result of this regardless of whether Nigeria or South Africa is at fault. All South Africans have to do is stop diplomatic ties with Nigeria and close Nigerian embassy. Nigeria can do likewise also, but I don't see South Africans rushing to Nigeria to live there, it's mostly the opposite that occur, so abeg Nigeria, don't screw this up o. |
There
Quite true! As a matter of fact, my further investigation showed that there was no bible in the bible. Jesus never read the bible. He read the scriptures written in Hebrew which can still be found in Israel today in scrolls. Moses never read the new testament. Moses never ended or started his prayers with "in Jesus name". He never did that. None of them spoke English not to talk of reading English scripture or some book with many scriptures called bible. Remember it was that "foolish gentile" King James of England who even without gods authority, gave orders for the Latin bible to be translated to English and printed in quantities and "foolishly" authorized common human beings to own their own bibles in an era where only the catholic church had the power to own bibles or interprete it. And the church kept the bible only in Latin. So let's all go to Israel and get the original scrolls and read them. Throw away your bibles pls Oops I forgot, Moses never went to church. And Jesus never went to church too. They may have gone to temple or synagogue. So let's all destroy these churches we built(except may be some synagogue somewhere in lagos )What a thread!! Hisssssssss
LMAO, I had a good laugh with this. Honestly there are so many things that we do now that is not written in the bible and doing it does not make it wrong. Using your theory, everything we do now will probably be wrong because it ain't in the bible. If you are living in this world, you have to accept that the world is constantly changing. What was acceptable as symbols of marriage 500 yrs ago is not the same as now. You know why? because culture evolves, people change. Get with the program or go back to Israel and start reading the scrolls not this modern bible put together by Constantine at the Council of Nicaea and find yourself some robes because I am pretty sure they weren't wearing trousers or skirts then, discard of your technological gadgets and some learn Hebrew or greek. |
somewhere between 25 and 30. I don't why people are saying 18-21. Please I was broke during this age range. I was in college with massive student loans, living with my parents, no car, no job, etc. Hated it. I think I just like my independence and 25-30 gives me that. |
I have noticed many events in Lagos are always held at Eko suites. Why? There is no where else? |
never understood why Kwara state is considered a Northern state. If you were to give a nigerian map to a non nigerian and asked them to place Kwara state in a zone, I am pretty sure Kwara state will be placed in the south. Based on my map, Kwara state is in Southern Nigeria. I don't even consider Kwara or Kogi or a middle belt state. Abuja, plateau and Niger are the true middle belt states. Maybe I am looking at this with my American eyes, |
I think you are going to far in labeling it a sin. Bring proof from the bible where it says infant baptism is a sin. Who died and crowned you king to tell people what is a sin and what's not since it's not explicitly written in the bible. Now if this was about fornication, adultery, lying stealing, etc. I will agree with you because the bible say these things are sin, but anything else is up for interpretation and you can't make a bold statement such as infant baptism is a sin when the issue of baptism is vague in the bible. |
Those poor kids. Some parents seems not to realize the impact of the home on the children. Those children would probably grow up to be abusive or be in abusive children because that;s all they have ever know. Most of the criminals and psychopaths in the world comes from dysfunctional home and it is a shame that these children destiny is already being shaped by situations that they have no control in. Women need to be careful who they marry. Growing up in an abusive home will have an impact on your life whether you acknowledge it or not. |
Gele is yoruba all the way. Yorubas are just flamboyant in the way they dress. I will say the head wrap is popular throughout West Africa, but the extra flamboyont ones are mostly worn by Nigerians mainly Yoruba. Like I said, Yoruba people like to show off and overdo things, so it makes sense that this will affect their dressing over time. I honestly can't see other people in west Africa being this extravagant with their dressing. Ghanians in general tend to be demure and reserved so I can't see them starting something like this. |
everybody in Costa Rica speaks Spanish, etc, Everybody in Costa Rica does not speak spanish! Other languages include Mekatelyu, Boruca, and Bribri. From around Latin America, The point is that spanish is the major language spoken in Costa rica. Google it now. Of course you have small tribes that speak a different language, but I wouldn't be suprised if those in the video know spanish as well their local language since spanish is the official language of Costa Rica and that's probably what they are taught in school. If you know Spanish and travel to Costa Rica, you will find your way around pretty easily. I know a couple of people that studied abroad in Costa Rica and the only requirement was for them to know spanish. Nobody ask them to learn Bribri or any other language that you have listed/ In contrast to Nigeria, will knowing Hausa help you find you way in the southeast? or knowing yoruba help you in Kaduna? We are fragmented in Nigeria. That is the point I am trying to make. Spanish is the official language of most Latin American countries. Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba are not the lingua Franca of Nigeria, English is. |
This is so embarrassing. A whole giant of Africa? |
If you're American or ________, your language is English or __________, everything else (except Spanish or ______) is 'other'. Sooner or later, if you're staying in the United States your 'home' language will surely vanish, just as the other hundreds of immigrant languages have. Germans tried to preserve their language and failed. Italians? Didn't even try. Dutch? French? Finnish? Swedish? Polish? Yiddish? All gone, (well, French creoles are still breathing their last breaths) and all these immigrants came to America and populated it in their millions. What Nigerians have to do is start accepting that they are no longer Nigerian in _____ country and try to bring some cultural impact and heritage onto their adopted/home countries, just like all the European and Spanish speaking American immigrants have. Sorry to tell you, but your great grand children will not speak ______ in the United States. Agreed overtime, the descendants of these immigrants are going to assimilate in to the American culture to the point that all they will know is my great grand parents were from Nigeria. That's the price you pay when you decide to move to America. Even the hispanics are going to assimilate overtime. |
Nigeria is a country with different ethnicities and languages. We can't compare ourselves to Hispanics who lack diversity in their home countries. All Latin American countries speak Spanish except for Brazil and Guyana. Everybody in mexico speaks Spanish, everybody in Costa Rica speaks Spanish, etc, but everybody in Nigeria does not speak Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa. Nigeria is so fragmented language wise and the only way to communicate with our fellow Nigerians is to speak English. There is not one dominating language in Nigeria like there is in Ghana where majority of their population speak Twi. We are too divided to speak one local language, so English is what we are stuck with. Many of the younger generations of Nigerians don't speak their language because many of us are growing up in a "melting pot"with different ethnicities that we interact with on a daily basis and this is vastly different from our parents era where many of our parents stuck to their own kind or own group, so it was easier to learn their language. I grew up in the USA, I have Igbo friends, yoruba, ibibio and Niger deltans friends, so how am I going to interact with my fellow Nigerians in the diaspora if I don't speak English. I think this is why Pidgin is on the rise. It is the younger generation way of interacting with others while still maintain our culture. |
silentc:agreed. The US is an individualistic culture while Nigeria is a collectivism culture. This means every man for himself and your success and failure are solely based on the individual. We all know in Nigeria, you are rich and your whole extended family is rich also. This is a Nigerian mentality. Never experience this, but with the way people in Nigeria just demand money from my parents like money grows on trees is astounding. In America you work for every penny that you have. Do this people know how many overnight shift my mother works for some vaguely related family member to just ask for her to send 200 or $100 like it's that easy and when you send less they complain. |
eya sorry ehn. Like you said, his whole mind set is that you guys are after his money and he also doesn't have that emotional connection with your family that would prompt him to help you guys. At the end of the day, he doesn't know you guys. Maybe he doesn't realize how bad things are in Nigeria and he may be comparing Nigeria to the US in his mind because in the US if you are low income, you can apply for free health insurance from the government that will pay for all your healthcare cost(Medicaid) and if you are old, you can apply for Medicare and so many other things to help people. His mind set is different from the average Nigerian. Americans don't just dash cash to people like that. Anyway, I will say forget him and move in. From the looks of it, he doesn't care for you guys so much, so you should stop caring also. |
Not only in Nigeria. Even here in the US with the economic recession, you don't have liberty to be picky. As a recent college graduate, if you are offered a good job, you will take it and majority of the time people tend to stay in the field they started working in. Even if you decide to move to a different career field later on in life, It will prove to be difficult to gain entry because you don't have experience in the new field and even if they do hire you, you will earn significantly less because you will probably be in an entry level position. This leave you no choice than to stay in your current career since probably now have heavier responsibility now than when you started off such as paying car note, rent, credit card bill, electric bill, etc. so you decide to just stay on your field and pursue more options within the field than start all over. This is why most people stay in the career field that they start of with. It is important to be careful what job you accept after graduating from college or grad school because this will most likely determine your path. |
"Even America that is warning its citizens have its own security challenges. It is not beyond the security agencies." Wow @ this statement. Is Nigeria comparing itself to the United States now? Yes, America have it's own security challenges, but also America takes their security very serious. There is no way in the world where there will be a group in America that killed 150 people and the US govt or Obama would say it's no big deal. Omo, they will use all their intelligence, whether FBI, CIA, homeland, even armed forces self that the group will be destroyed. Even if 10 people died self, that group would be in trouble talk less of 150. This is one of the main problem in Nigeria, there is no regard for human life. No incentive to protect their citizens. One thing I like about the US is that the government will protect their citizens at all cost. 150 dead and and the govt is saying no big deal. Ki lo De. There should have been a state of emergency declared by the president. *hiss* |
We all know that Nigeria unlike the US or other western countries is a cash economy in comparison to the US which is more based on credit. We also complain that Nigeria is corrupt, but how can we eliminate corruption when trillions of money are unaccounted for in Nigeria because of our cash based economy. Corruption thrives in an environment where money can't be traced, so to eliminate corruption, we must first eliminate our cash based economy. We should be able to account for every penny in Nigeria, but we can't do this when people are hiding stacks of cash in their suitcases. |
yes, I want some kuli kuli so bad. |
Nobody is ugly. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There is a difference, but I can't really explain the difference. I can tell the difference between someone fresh off the boat. The Ajebutter ones in Nigeria don't look that different because they have the Mulah to take care of themselves, but 90% of Nigerians are not Ajebutter, I think its fair to say Nigerians living in Nigeria and Nigerians living abroad looks different probably as a result of nutrition and ability to properly take of themselves |
lol, Men checking out ladies Asses is not universal. Having been around a lot of white people, white guys are more fascinated by breasts. As matter of fact, many of them don't want their women to have big asses. They think it's disgusting and in contrast black guys are fascinated by big breast. Many of them could care less about your breasts. |
To people that are attacking Nigerian musicians as making no sense and Nigerians as people that just like the beats of song need to realized that people in general likes catchy music. Well, its just not just Nigerian musicians that makes no sense, A lot of songs that come out nowadays have poor lyrical content, but they become big hits. There so many American songs that I have listened to and liked, but at the end of the day, I ask myself why this song became popular. People that like Soulja Boy, Nicki Minaj, lil wayne, Wacka Flocka, Gucci Mane are not necessarily doing so because these people are lyrical genius. Can someone tell me what "no hands" mean? This was the song sang by Wacka Flocka. I am guilty of doing this also. I listen to a lot of music with poor lyrical content, but if I want to listen to song that has string lyrical content, I will go listen to Ayo, Luther Vandross, Gospel music and some old school R&B. I don't think she hates Nigerian music, it just not what she is used to. She may be hearing the wrong word though. Anyway, point is Nigerian music is playing wherever she is so, somebody is liking it over there. |
lol, was it Nato that killed him or his own people? Nato aided the rebels, but the Libyan people killed him. If they want to sue, let them sue the rebels. |
I think the problem is that the bad is rewarded in Nigeria. Nigeria is an aggressive society and If you are not aggressive, you will be stomped on. The ones that follow the rules and do everything according to the law are often punished. For example, if you are following traffic laws and moving at the suggested speed and waiting for stop signs, but if no one else is following that law, you will realized that you will be the person hit or injured or the person that have the biggest money is the one seen first at the doctors office, this might prompt others to come withe bigger cash next time they are waiting in line for something, Once people see that following the law is working and people that are disobedient are punished, you will definitely see a change in society attitudes. |
well first, Tigers are not indigenous to Africa, but Asia. Second, many of the wild animals that many westerners expect to see on the safari doesn't exist in Nigeria. The reason why is First, Nigeria can be broken down into two different climate. Southern Nigeria according to geography is a tropical rain forest while northern Nigeria is a very dry climate probably because of its proximity to the Sahara Dessert. One of the main characteristics of tropical rain forest are heavy rain falls and tall tress. The types of animals that exist in tropical rain forest are animals from the ape family mainly monkeys, gorillas and Baboon. These kinds of animals cannot survived in Northern Nigeria because it is too dry for them. I am sorry to say, but animals such as Lions, Hyena, Giraffe, Zebra and all those other animals from the Lion King movie cannot be found in Nigeria mainly because rain forest and dry climate are not where they thrived. These types of animals are mostly found in east Africa and southern Africa because many east African and southern African countries are Savannah grassland and Lions and other animals of such thrived in this kind of Environment. Wide plains are where you will find Safari which doesn't exist in West Africa. Lions don't swing on tress. Abeg! Now Tropical rain forests harbors animals such as Elephant and Gorillas. the highest concentration of Gorillas in the world are found in the Congo and it is because of the rain forest environment. Gorillas don't live in Savannah grass land that is typically found in eastern and southern Africa. This is why you barely see Gorillas and Lions living together. Now that you know the kind of animals that can be found in Nigeria, the question is why don't we have Gorillas and elephants compare to the Congo since we share the same Geography. The answer to this would be because The Congo and many Central African countries have many uninhabited land that allows these animal to thrived, but I don't doubt that 600 years ago, southern Nigeria probably had this type of animal, but civilizations drove them away and they are now mostly in countries that give them space to thrive. |
pure evil. I hope the rest of them doing this are caught and giving life imprisonment. Wicked people! |
Zaynee63:It's not a failure, but as someone living in the United States who is heavily involved in the different social networks, none of my friends are going to google plus. I don't know anyone moving to google plus, but I wouldn't say its a failure. More of a work in progress that could go in either direction. |
well Google has to find their Niche. What is it about them that makes them so special that Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin can't give me? Once they answer that question, they will find more success. I have Facebook for keeping in touch with friends, Twitter allows me to be more blunt and free spirited and Linkedin allow me to keep in touch with job professionals and follow companies that I am interested in. They just need to find their voice. I do have a google plus, but I don't do anything on it. |
currently possess the Samsung Galaxy S. I like it and I don't plan on upgrading it anytime soon. Its hard to keep up with the latest phones since new ones are being released every couple of months |
Torch1:In Christianity, you are allow to question all you want without repercussions and most Christians are very laid back with their religion. |
biolabee:Tricking guys is apparently not 70s. Something like this just happened in my family. I am not referring to those families that will not bless the Union if there is no pregnancy. That is another topic I have an issue with, but that's for another day. |
It seems that there is trend of women getting pregnant before their wedding day, but my problem are Women that purposely get pregnant in order to force the guy to marry them. I believe this stems from our cultural view that marriage is a must and being single is a curse, so I want to ask, is it mandatory to get marry to the extent that some people have now result into tricking guys to marry them? Why enter a marriage that is built on deceit and lies? What's your view? |
