Here is a well kitted general of the Ametokun, let us know what your take is, on his armour and readiness for this task that could prove unnerving when the heat is turned on.

My verdict; He is made for the jungle and he looks set to carry out his assignment with a superlative assiduity.

Yes I agree, I was opposed to the removal of subsidy in 2012 because the govt then told us they were removing subsidy because 'people' were stealing the money, and instead of catching or punishing or preventing the thieves, the only remedial measure they came up with was to remove subsidy.

But then again, talk is cheap! the latest trend these days is for every current PDP sympathiser to claim they weren't opposed to subsidy removal in 2012. And one then wonders whether all those who blasted govt in 2012 (including musicians like Flavour who released a song) were automatically all ApC. Can you swear on your life that you weren't also against the removal of subsidy back then in 2012?

Before we go there, do you now agree the info you posted earlier was wrong?... Do you now agree N2.1 trillion was the amount paid for subsidy in 2011?

Go and sit down! GEJ yearly budget never reached even #5 trillion. Are you saying he used 50% of the budget for subsidy? Liar!
Why dont you show up till 2019?
Oga please I dont do childish arguments. I showed you a link which contains my figures, there are also 1000 other news sites which contain the same info free of charge to the public.

https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/nigeria-spent-n9tr-on-fuel-subsidy-in-10-years-pppra.html

If you cant open the link and read, or if it's beyond your intellectual capacity to do your own verification research via google, then I'm sorry, I cant be of help to your kind.

Meanwhile regarding 2019, I dont know how much was paid for subsidy in 2019 because it hasnt been announced/published yet; 2019 just ended 2 weeks ago.

PoliticsRe: Sentiments Aside, Buhari Is Better Than Jonathan by obailala(m):
Xisnin:
Fake figures.
Buhari met 10 trillion Naira debt accumulated since Nigeria's independence and he increased it to 22 trillion in a space of 4 years.
Nobody can beat that record.

Oil price is not an excuse because OBJ managed lower prices without borrowing Nigeria future to the chinese.
GMB actually met $63bn debt, and has increased it to $83. Most of the funds borrowed by GMB were foreign and in dollars, so it doesnt work when you compare it in Naira.

...and by the way, did you say the N10trillion was accumulated since independence? #Fallacy... This is another analysis based on weak political propaganda. OBJ cleared most of Nigeria's debt by 2007; the majority of that N10trillion (or $63bn) debt inherited by GMB was actually incurred between 2007 and 2015, the largest chunk of it was actually incurred at a time when Nigeria enjoyed the most unprecedented oil income boom.

If you must criticise govt borrowing under GMB, remember that since 2015, there's been a massive dip in the country's income due to very low oil prices and output; it's only logical and inevitable for a person to borrow at a time of low income to ensure he feeds his family. But the real question Nigerian should really be asking is, why did we borrow so much between 2010 and 2015 when oil prices and income were sky high?

On subsidy
We were doing about N1.2 trillion during GEJ tenure but Bubu said if anybody tells you he is subsidizing anything, that person is a fraud. Bubu is subsidizing with N1.8 trillion and we are paying double the amount for petrol inspite of the subsidy even when crude is at a lower price.
Who is the fraud now?
The fraud is actually Reno Omokri who recently succeded in deceiving you and millions of other unsuspecting Nigerians with his usual barefaced shameless lies and propaganda. It's a shame many Nigeria's still havent learnt to verify info they hear from dubious politicians.

N1.2trillion was the amount spent on subsidy in 2014 alone and that was the lowest amount spent on subsidy by GEJ between 2011 and 2014. In 2011 alone, subsidy bill was N2.1trillion (this was the highest ever in Nigeria's history - the year of the massive subsidy scam which forced govt to attempt removing subsidies in Jan 2012).

On the contrary, the N1.8 trillion you quoted which was spent on subsidy by GMB was the TOTAL sum spent in 4 years, i.e. 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/nigeria-spent-n9tr-on-fuel-subsidy-in-10-years-pppra.html

With your above skewed nalysis comparing 1 year vs. 4 years, we can conveniently say RENO has achieved his aim of misleading the public.

You're either a shameless liar or not enlighten enough.

Oga, GEJ inherited a reserve of $35b from Yar'Adua (see graph below)
If $35b is what you called good reserve, well, I'll discontinue any argument with you

Agreed, the reserves have somewhat gone up under but did he do any special to jack it up?
The answer is a capital NO! Buhari took the lazy man's short cut of borrowing, borrowing and borrowing more
then use part of the various loans to shore up our reserves

.
But in dollar terms, Nigeria between 2010 and 2015 borrowed just about the same amount that has been borrowed between 2015 and 2019 with nothing to show for it either; not even shoring up the reserves. It's funny that a lot of people dont know this due to political propaganda.

This isn't me endorsing any of both men; I'm just saying your bolded point above holds no water.

..and by the way, the person you quoted was right ; GEJ inherited a foreign reserve of $42bn in the start of 2010, not $35 as you claim. The chart you pasted started from December 2010, GEJ didnt get in power in December.

I don't think there's anyone who really doesn't recognise the existential herdsmen problem. People just don't appreciate when the issue is politicised; i.e. blindly turned to an Apc vs Pdp matter. As an example, if you read through this thread and count the number of times the name 'Tinubu' has been mentioned, one could easily think Tinubu is a herdsman.

Why are they so scared of this peaceful program that stand to serve the overall interest of the country?

Why is an unsecured part of the country so important to them that they are negotiating the same with the '2023 Presidency'?

Why would a particular region or set of people believe that the "Amotekun' program is targeted at them?

I bet its time to think beyond political alignment

A more pertinent question to ask is why the votes from those areas were excluded in the fist instance.
The votes in those areas were excluded/ignored by the collation officers because they looked/were dubious.

Unfortunately, according to the law, a collation officer does not have the right to decide on what he/she thinks is dubious result or not. That is the job of the tribunal. This irregularity (i.e. collation officers cancelling result by themselves) is the legal loophole which Uzodimma's lawyers exploited in the supreme court.

Unfortunately for Ihedioha, his lawyers seemed to be intellectually lazy, else they should have dwelled on the authenticity of the excluded votes as their main defence; instead they were busy defending other things.

At the end, no one can blame the supreme court of bias, cos they pass judgement purely based on evidences placed before them, not based on conjectures or sentiments.

Instead of this government to remove the import duty on solar products and other solar-powered products and stimulate uptake of solar energy products in our country, they are busy looking for avenues to waste taxpayers' monies and enrich themselves through inflated contract schemes. I have observed that GIZ is mentioned in this foolish venture. Such a shame! To think that they would be involved in distributing cook stoves that represent the past, fading technology.
This sounds like a good idea; Nigeria just lacks leaders that can think. A sensible government should declare a state of emergency in the power sector and encourage any initiative to end our power travails in the shortest possible time.

Solar power still remains very expensive today, but there's still a lot the government can do to encourage the penetration of solar energy into Nigeria. Even in the UK where there isn't a power problem, their government gives incentives for households who opt for green (solar) energy.

Happy New Year everyone please I would appreciate if you could spare some time to read this article I put the link below. Would kindly appreciate your opinion on the questions raised in the article in connection to the question I raised some years back about how the Refinery would impact on the Nigerian economy.

https://www.theafricareport.com/21854/behind-the-hype-is-dangotes-refinery-a-game-changer/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

cc 989900, tonyebarcanista, omenka, sarrki, theGoodjoe, obailala, jpphilips and any other moniker i erroneously omitted your contributions to this topic would be highly appreciated and welcome thanks
jpphilips and ultron12345 have already done great justice to this thread.

Nigeria currently spends between $6-7 billion annually importing petroleum product. When ramped to full capacity, the 650,000bpd Dangote refinery can produce over 50million litres of petrol per day, this is in addition to millions of litres of diesel, kerosene, aviation fuel daily. Essentially when at full production, Dangote refinery can meet more than 100% of Nigeria's refined products' demand.

In addition to Dangote, there are over 40 other private mushroom refineries being built currently which would also add to Nigeria's refining capacity (when dangote goes live, owners of these other refineries will be forced to speed up construction). A major benefit of all these is that Nigeria will instantly grow from net importer to net exporter of refined products. A point to note - A barrel of crude may sell for $55 today, but if that barrel is refined to finished products before being sold, Nigeria could make over $200 from a single barrel of crude. In essence, the economic benefits of selling finished products as opposed to just raw material is immense.

Currently, refined product import gulps over 50% of Nigeria's forex earnings which could have been used for other essentials. With $6-7bn in forex saved annually, and some extra forex being made from net exportation of finished products, the effect on the value of the Naira cannot be overemphasised; the CBN could easily return the Naira to N200/$ if it so pleases, although I doubt they will ever want to do that because it will make no economic sense (i.e. forcefully return us to lazy importation days).

Regarding transportation for both crude and refined products to/from the Dangote site, huge pipelines are currently being built as part of the project. Huge jetties are also in place for import/export of crude/finished products by sea. Dangote would most likely buy Nigerian crude, but if there are hitches, I believe there must be alternative arrangements to source crude from elsewhere.

Finally, one area I hold a contrary opinion to many is in the final pricing. Dangote will not sell petrol for less than N145, I doubt he would sell for anything less than N200 and I would explain why I think so. Dangote will not get crude for free, he will have to pay the global going rate for crude. If he pays the global rate, he will obviously make far more money if he sells his products to foreign buyers as opposed to locally. So why exactly should he sell for N145 locally and lose potential profits?

And another prediction I have is that the moment Dangote refinery is operational and the moment the NNPC no longer needs to import fuel, the Nigerian government would finally detegulate the downstream sector fully, giving Dangote (and the other smart opportunists) the free hand to fix prices and fleece Nigerians. Dangote would easily become richer than the entire nation.

I'm sure I know the meaning and difference between 'poor' and 'rich'. Contrary to your definition, a rich man is actually someone who can achieve almost anything he wants; whether it is living comfortably in a large spacious house, acquiring any material thing he wants or touching the lives of countless people as he pleases. A poor man's abilities are highly restricted.

The statement you made earlier is very common amongst poor people. Im not however saying ypu are poor.

And lastly, the house can accommodate my entire extended family and friends whenever i choose to do a feast.

At the end, it's just a choice, some like it hot some like it cold, some like it in the pot, 3 days old.
