We keep hearing that Shiites are bad, Shiites are terrorists, Shiites are violent, Shiites are related to Iran etc etc. But if we trace back Nigeria's history, there has never been any single case of Shiites causing any trouble or disturbing the peace for anyone any where. Every single case of terrorism or religious related violence we've had at least in the last 30 years were perpetrated mainly by Sunnis or Sunni based groups. Yet these people somehow want us to believe that Shiites are the dangerous people we should be worried about?... These people want us to believe it is right and sensible to proscribe Shiites even whilst they desperately protect, defend and pamper herdsmen who have murdered (and are still murdering) over 10000 innocent Nigerians? |
How can companies meant to produce and sell some of the most valuable products in the country continue swimming in losses? What exactly is wrong with the black man? Why exactly are these refineries still owned by govt? |
grandstar:But that's exactly my point; that thing you called a "no no" is exactly what's going to happen in 2 years. |
grandstar:No need for these rhetorics, Nigerians need to brace up for the worst. When Dangote completes that refinery, NNPC will stop importation of fuel and the govt would fully deregulate the downstream sector. Implication is that Dangote would be a full blown monopoly as the single supplier of 90% of Nigeria's petroleum products, and the Dangote we know will not sell his petrol even for N200. Dangote is on the verge of holding Nigeria by the balls but unfortunately, both the govt and other Nigerian businessmen are all sleeping. When the time comes, the wailing and the bad-belle will be epic. |
I shared the very same thoughts when I saw the other thread exposing the so called stolen properties. Any human with half a brain would instantly realised that the things in those containers are definitely abandoned properties meant for disposal. Just imagine the picture of those rugs; I wouldn't even let someone bring those diseased rugs anywhere close to my compound, yet these are the things they could bring up as recovered stolen properties. Why don't they go for money, vehicles etc? |
AZeD1:The man is a former commercial pilot and also served as the minister overseeing the entire aviation ministry. I believe he's in a better position than the both of us to reel out such statistics. |
Mustsucceed:Ahhh!... ![]() After reading this post, I had to read and re-read the post from @Awol1 which you were responding to several times trying to discern the reason behind your unfortunate vituperations, but I couldn't connect the dots. It then made me realise that more than ever before, we have to take the issues of mental health seriously in this country. |
Awol1:Are you sure we aren't all tribalist, divisive and just petty at the same time? Everyone applauds this man's intellects in unison here simply because he's only being appointed as a mere minister. If this man had been contesting for a coveted position like the presidency, you will be shocked at how the mood of these comments would have changed. |
AZeD1:Huh? I really wasnt expecting this kind of question even if were just for the sake of arguments. Go back and re-read my post and you may also want to read any available articles or economic materials which explain generally how job creation works. Maybe if you will do that, you will probably then understand that when for instance University X is sited at a community and is said to create say 5000 jobs, it doesn't necessarily mean University X directly employed 5000 people. |
AZeD1:Do you realise you're actually veering totally off point?... This is what happens when people just speak/nag out of emotions and prejudices. A quick reminder to what my comment was about... the man said a single aeroplane in the aviation sector can translate to up to 300 jobs and he is totally right about that; end of discussion! Whether AMCON owns Arik or Arik owns AMCON, or whether the man failed in a attempt to start an airline, or whether urchins should be at airports or not, all that is totally irrelevant to the correctness of his statement that a single aircraft can create employment for up to 300 persons, both directly and indirectly. Regarding the launch of a national carrier, I read in that statement that the plan is for it to be totally driven by the private sector; and that is a very very good idea whether you agree or not. The previous plan where govt was to have substantial stakes was shelved, that explains the current suspension of the Nigeria Air idea. Finally you said the essence of business is to make profit, not to create employment. May I remind you that the person being screened was being interviewed for a govt position. Just in case you do not know, or have forgotten, it is the business of government to care about whether people are employed or not. |
BuhariIsBURIED:Based on who's nepotism exactly? You do know he wasnt made CJN by buhari right? I agree with you though; the entire Nigerian judiciary and the entire NJC must be entirely useless to have promoted an 'ekuke' from the ground up to the level of being the 2nd most senior judge of the entire judiciary. |
Fabnaija:Which court order?... has he been granted bail on the second charge? |
aolawale025:Which court orders exactly? I dont know how the legal system or bail works, but if someone is accused of more than one charge by different authorities in different jurisdictions and he is granted bail on one, does it automatically mean he has been granted bail on the other too? |
AZeD1:Arik air as an example has less than 20 functional planes but employs over 1500 direct staff. When you factor in the indirect staff, and the indirect-indirect staff (e.g. those urchins at the airport stand that rush to help you with your bags when you get to airports, the caterers that prepare the snacks you get on flights etc), you will be shocked at the sheer number of mouths that are being fed by the mere existence of Arik air. Sometimes people ought to exercise restraint in the way they rush to insult people because more often than not, you may just risk sounding more clueless than the people you insult. |
somehow:Lol.. smh.. Such a poor attempt at being clever! If you go back to my last post and read till the very last sentence, I already did mention that you would surely shrink back to your shell with the weak defense that you were referring to just Ojota. Protesters were killed in Lagos, Kano and Kwara, but your argument is that no one was killed at Ojota? So because no one was killed at Ojota, is that the reason you quoted me originally to challenge my post about trigger happy Nigerian policemen? |
somehow:Why do you sound so much like the Nigerian police with this your bizarre denial? Are you a policemen? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-16464922 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2012/jan/09/nigeria-fuel-protests-one-killed https://www.reuters.com/article/us-nigeria-strike/nigerian-fuel-protests-grow-13-killed-in-attacks-idUSTRE8091B120120110 https://www.reuters.com/article/us-nigeria-strike/nigeria-fuel-protests-turn-violent-two-killed-idUSTRE8081NM20120109 https://www.aljazeera.com/news/africa/2012/01/201213135855591893.html https://www.pri.org/stories/2012-01-10/nigeria-news-fuel-subsidy-protests-turn-deadly-three-people-killed https://www.france24.com/en/20120103-lagos-nigeria-end-petrol-subsidy-riots-clashes-police Within a second in google, about 20 different reports on fatalities across Nigeria during the #OccupyNigeria protests popped up; on last count, it was over 12 fatalities, some of which were in Lagos. I know your next line of argument would probably be, "I meant in Ojota alone"
|
somehow:1. BBOG was a very very organised protest, but that doesn't mean they weren't teargassed on several occasions. 2. BBOG was mainly in Abuja where the police are a little bit more civilised than the rest of the country. 3. Again for BBOG, the world was watching with keen interest; it would have been disastrous if the security forces tried the usual madness. As for Ojota, I remember one person was fatally shot live on camera in the usual Nigerian police tradition (to fulfill righteousness). |
delugajackson:In Nigeria, even if the pritest isnt disruptive, even if the police has been able to overpower and disperse the protesters, they somehow just have a way to still level their rifle to release a live fatal bullet. It's a tradition done just to fulfil all righteousness. |
If I say BU, you say RA, another man say TAI, omo na you sabi... |
jrusky:If you read through that story again, you will realise his death had absolutely no connection with saving the pig; that he died after saving a pig does not automatically mean 'he died because he saved the pig'. The story didnt say he drowned, neither did it say he was crushed or attacked by the pig, so how exactly is everyone linking his death to the pig? The comments so far on this thread are shockingly myopic. |
odiereke: sotall:His death probably had nothing to do with him helping the swine. This story get k-leg, but the real tragedy of this story is the reasoning faculty of Nigerians, both educated and uneducated. Reading through this thread and seeing how almost everyone just swallowed the pig logic is depressing; many even call him stupid for saving a pig. |
Stingman:Same way in which PDP politicians who were quiet then are protesting today as activists... #Politics |
bkool7:You will be shocked that the very people who criticised the loudest when ransom was paid for release of those girls are actually the loudest chanters today in this thread also criticising the same govt for doing nothing. To many, it's just politics, nothing personal. |
destinie2019:Wow! The man must have really angered the gods. nzeobi:Amaechi was not cleared in 2015?... Which Amaechi? |
Mexyz:Has any ministerial nominee ever been rejected by any senate since Nigeria's history? |
No single ministerial nominee has ever been rejected by the senate since 1999 till date. So ehy do they even bother with screening? ...and for those shouting Saraki senate Saraki senate, was any ministerial candidate ever rejected by Saraki senate? |
OlujobaSamuel:You wicked man... ![]() |
Anegbettedude:You think Oshiomole himself will permit Ruga if he were governor? |
Hehehe... The UK Trump ![]() |
Same ol same old folks... All politicians! |
