Education › Re: Adamawa Government Begins Free Feeding For Boarding Secondary Schools by obailala(m): 9:31pm On Jun 24, 2019 |
Ify05: Adamawa State Government has started a free feeding programme for students of its boarding secondary schools.
The state Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, spoke about the programme on Monday in Yola while receiving members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) who were led on a solidarity visit to him by its governorship candidate in the 2019 general election, Sen. Abdul-Azeez Nyako.
Fintiri said the feeding of boarding secondary school students has commenced in nine schools and would be extended to cover all the 52 boarding schools in the state in the near future.
Governor Fintiri also announced that all forms of school fees will be abolished from September so that parents would no longer be bothered with school fees.
Fintiri spoke days after the report of a baseline research into causes of high rate of out-of-school children in the state recommended free education among others, after noting that many students drop out of school at the point of sitting for final examination because of inability to pay the fee for such examination.
The governor said the gestures of his government were meant to make quality education conveniently available to all the people of the state, adding that, “Our plan is to make sure that government schools can compete with private schools in quality of education in the state.”
Fintiri welcomed the ADC delegation on its solidarity visit and said his administration was available to take advice from all citizens irrespective of the party they are in.
Earlier in his speech, the ADC delegation leader, Abdul-Azeez Nyako, said he and his party members paid Governor Fintiri the solidarity visit because Fintiri and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had been carrying the ADC along.
“ADC as a party wants to assure you of support; we will not heat up the polity for you,” Abdul-Aziz assured Fintiri.
Abdul-Aziz Nyako was the third most popular governorship candidate in the last governorship election after Fintiri who won the election, and then APC’s Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow who trailed Fintiri.

All we are doing here is to look at issues from another point of view. So tell me if you were also there, you would have gone to the chopper for a selfie, a typical of our mentality. We hail people who are suppose to manage our resources and common wealth. They are manager and not owners.
Secondly, you supposedly concorted that it could be a medical ambulance or sort. Bro wake up and ask for wisdom from God. I don't expect this from you. Don't let anyone stereotype your thinking along their parochial way of thinking. The vehicle in questions an a private one and another of people are also sick in that traffic jam. A parting word. I want o quote Jesus Christ on the cross. "woman cry for your children" Don't bother about me just use the same advice you gave me in the beginning to work hard...... Good luck Once again I ask you, how exactly did you identify the person the chopper came to pick up?.... For this unidentified passenger, how did you come to this conclusion that the person must be a politician or a political leader? Cos that's all you seem to be talking about. And what exactly did you mean by parochial way of thinking?... What do you mean by "plenty people would still lose their lives to armed robbers on the highway"?... You're obviously bitter and harbour a prejudice against whoever it is that that chopper came to pick, even though you dont know the person.. You clearly need help! I dont know you, but the reason I teased you about working hard is because, I'm positive that if you had a certain level of affluence, you wouldnt automatically concluded that the person that chopper came to pick must be linked to politics. And as for me taking selfies, yes! if I was there, I would surely have taken a selfie because it's an interesting and unusual sight to see a chopper land on the expressway to pick someone, especially in Nigeria; I would love to have a picture memory of it, and that has nothing to do with me hailing or admiring anyone. Even in the most developed countries, people would quickly pull out their phones to take selfies if they saw this... Meanwhile, God has already blessed me with considerable wisdom. I could use some more though, but not because you say so. |

ERockson: I think Igbo will surely get 2023 presidency if they channel all their political energy in achieving it rather than ensuring Tinubu or Yoruba don't get it. I think the energy, strategy and other method igbo are using and will use from now should be more than enough to get the 2023 presidency. Energy that cannot be synchronized, cannot be harnessed. You're very right about this, pulling down the opponent instead of focusing on how to run faster has never really been a smart strategy to win anything. Also, crying over the acts of the opponents and whipping up sentiments has never really been a potent political strategy. |

martineverest: it's Nigerian English..respect it .
Americans and Aussies would have adopted the name instead of coach bus if they were the ones calling it that name.
I find it appalling that my friends tried to correct me when I say 'go-slow'(traffic jam) or off-head...those expressions are Nigerian brand of English You're very much in order! I guess it's the inherent inferiority complex we suffer that makes us think our nomenclature is wrong or inferior. I had a similar argument with someone recently who made a mocking joke about how Nigerians 'ignorantly' call coke and fanta 'mineral'... I was seriously enraged! Just the way the Brits call coke and fanta fizzy drinks, and the Americans call them soda, we in Nigeria call them 'mineral' drinks, and there's absolutely nothing wrong in that. People still dont reqlise that Nigeria houses one of the largest population of English speakers globally. |

AutoJoshNG: https://e9r8e7v9.stackpathcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/luxury-bus.jpg?x66560
One of the most popular buses used for interstate journeys in Nigeria are buses confusedly referred to as “luxury” or “luxurious” buses.
Indeed, this bus type is typically designed to be luxurious. They offer some kind of comfort or luxury to passengers. Well, as they age, they lose most of their "luxury". At that stage of dereliction, can we still call them luxury or luxurious buses? Definitely not.
The appropriate name for this model of the bus is “Coach Bus”.
Coach buses are designed for longer-distance service. This is in contrast to transit buses - or mini-buses.
Though they are used for several purposes, in Nigeria, Coach Buses are mostly used for interstate journeys, etc..

Source:
https://autojosh.com/why-do-we-call-these-buses-luxurious-buses/ There's nothing wrong with those buses being termed 'Luxurious Buses' in Nigeria; it's just the Nigerian nomenclature. The term may have been coined out of the fact that unlike the smaller transit buses (typically Toyota Hiace) which are the most common form of inter-city transportation in Nigeria, these bigger buses offer much more space, comfort, safety and 'luxury'. Just the same way the Brits call coke and fanta fizzy drinks, and the Americans call them soda, we in Nigeria call them 'mineral' drinks, and there's nothing wrong in that. |

linearity: Ghaddafi was linked to the downing of Pan flight AM103 that killed about 190 American citizens. Despite the handing of two people, Washington still believed that Ghaddafi commissioned the PFLP-GC with about $10 million to do the dirty deed.
And America never forgets, it does not matter who become President or how many years goes by, Ghaddafi had been penciled down to take the fall, Obama just happens to be the President when the CIA checked off Ghaddafi on their todo list.
Same thing is going to happen here, Iran made a big mistake for downing that drone, agree it was pilotless, but they will paid dearly for it.
Trump had order strike on the Iran...preparations were in top gears, the fireworks were to start falling on strategic locations in Iran early Friday, but Trump called off the strike, and I believe it was not called off because of lack of zeal...Trump wants an external conflict as US switched into election year 2020 to galvanize support for himself across the US and Iran is foolishly giving him a reason to use them for the experiment. Lol.. this dude here has watched too much CNN, too many American movies and has swallowed too many American propaganda all through his lifetime.. You're not alone though, we are all victims of American propaganda cos 99% of the media content we have watched since birth was crafted by the Americans to configure our minds and see them as G-O-D. Believe it or not, the US is just another mindlessly self serving country looking out only for its own economic interest and they dont give a flying fvck whose ox is gored. I'm not a fan of Iran, but I refuse to be trapped in the mind control bubble created by the yanks which makes many believe it is right for the US to have over 1500 nuclear warheads, they even plant these warheads in different countries of the world and gift some nukes to even Islamic allies like Pakistan, but then the same US teaches the world that it is immoral for countries like NK or Iran to possess even a single warhead. Meanwhile the same US which happens to be the only nation in the world to deploy nukes TwICE, thereby annihilating a quarter of a million people, this same US happens to be the moral judge and jury today for who should have and not have WMDs. Why exactly are we made to see it as a crime for Iran to bring down a certainly armed enemy drone encroaching its airspace?... Would the US tolerate it even if a harmless Iranian kite is flown near its territory? |
