Consistency in beliefs is an integral element of integrity. If a man of integrity believes that it is not proper to send undisciplined soldiers to a region where local governments have been taken over by vicious terrorists, how then can he in good conscience possibly send similarly undisciplined soldiers to a region having miscreants who had not even overwhelmed the police? The explanation I can come up with for such inconsistency in beliefs is that ethnic and religious sentiments are the primary drivers behind his pronouncements and actions. Do you have an alternative explanation? Let's hear it.
The only explanation I can think of is that the 'demons of Aso Rock' (just as Reuben Abati described it) which dances on the heads of people once they step 'close' to the villa has danced on his head.

On a serious note, pre-2015, APC goons lamented the deployment of soldiers for Ekiti elections in 2014, and across the country for the 2015 elections, but PDP folks like Fayose, FFK, Barr Ozekhome and several other PDP-ians wrote lengthy articles denouncing the wailing 'APShits' for crying blue murder; they obviously never thought they could lose their access to Aso Rock. Fastforward to 2017, the very same PDP actors are now decrying the deployment of the military for civil matters, while the APC guys who now have access to Aso Rock are defending the deployment of soldiers.

The tables only just turned, it's got nothing to do with ethnic or tribal or religious sentiments which the politician always use to deceive gullible folks; it's all politics and these guys are all political actors. That is my alternative explanation.

I've had a fair share of encounters with soldiers, I lived in Warri all through its crisis years. Soldiers would only ask you to raise your hands while crossing checkpoints when there is tension in the area.

And what exactly is coming around to me?.... To the best of my ability (and by God's Grace), I will make sure I avoid every single form of confrontation, or anything that could lead to a confrontation with the renown trigger-happy Nigeria's armed forces - Police, army, army ohia (a.k.a civil defense), navy, customs etc.

My original point was simple, avoid any form of confrontation.

Nope, that wasn't the case.

If the Nigerian Army came in, did their drills n as always, nothing would have happened.

There was absolutely no reason for the army to come in n send a full company to nnamdi kanus gate knowing fully well how volatile things have gone in the SE. They also attacked n killed so many people far away from nnamdi kanus home.

if any war befalls nigeria, the chances of a split is much more than 50% and it would be written in history that it was entirely buharis fault.

Simply ignore ipob n stop giving them commercial airtime n the movement will fissle away in a few months.

-buhari took the biafra movement to BBC, CNN n Aljazeera.

buhari took it to all the newspapers in the world.

he sent dead bodies of biafrans to social media n made the movement become an international movement.

Further errors from President Buhari will send this movement into an arm conflict.

Always remember that a further massacre of igbos(irrespective of who started it) will trigger a mutiny in the army and that my brother will spell final doom for nigeria.
Oh yeah, I should have known it's still all about Buhari, Buhari, Buhari this, Buhari that. Like I said before, mind your business and the soldiers would mind theirs; the soldiers would only act following some form of confrontation or unrest. Soldiers have been stationed all over the SE, SS some parts of the SW and several places in the north east; we aren't hearing of issues everywhere else except Aba and Umuahi axis, and that is because the people everywhere else chose to mind their business.

Actually our soldiers can be so unprofessional, trust them on that one, how do you explain soldiers mounting a checkpoint and demanding that all commuters alight from vehicles and raise their hands before the could pass, and demanding that those with motorcycles alight and wheel their bikes before they could pass, without any prior incident or provocation.
That would never happen if there's no form of unrest.

When a person has an intention to commit a crime, the presence of law enforcement officers suddenly becomes provocative to him.

Soldiers arent even like the police who stop vehicles to extort bribes. People can choose to ignore the presence of the soldiers and just go about their normal businesses or they can choose to keep losing sleep over nothing. In fact, with the currently increasing wave of ember month kidnappings, the presence of soldiers would be helpful.

GiantParrot:
Fayose and FFK are inconsequential attention seekers. You, Sir, are ignoring the more important matters here: It is on record that General Buhari, a respected elder statesman in the North, opposed the deployment of troops to the North to quell the attacks of bokoharam. Note that at the time, bokoharam was among the most vicious terrorist groups in the world. But now, President Buhari, who has always been perceived to be an ethnic and religious bigot by many in the South, sends the military against a mostly non-violent group in the East. It would be morally dishonest to equate IPOB and Bokoharam. But even if you choose to do so, then the military offensive against IPOB in the East is anti-East by Buhari's standards for the military action in the North against bokoharm.

So then, what do these facts say about the nature of the man Buhari - about his fitness for leadership in a multi-ethnic society that already suffers growing ethnic tensions? What will his legacy be? Will he mend the divides? Or worsen the tensions? Time will tell. But as of today, the past is already written. His legacy is already taking shape, and the Nigerian vicious cycle of intolerance remains in progress.

**Modified**
Let me add that Jonathan's legacy of ineptitude and corruption is well known. It is regressive, not progressive, to bring up a bad example as support for another unwise action.
You have spoken very well, but I'd like to point out one thing regarding the alleged opposition of Buhari to soldiers in the north and the infmous "it is anti-north" statement.

Nigerian soldiers are known to be very brutal and unprofessional in their dealings. If you send the soldiers to a community to flush out 10 criminals, they typically kill or maim 50 innocent folks before wiping off the 10 criminals. This is a known fact and it happened in Warri, Odi, Odioma, Zaki-biam etc. Every single place soldiers have been sent to enforce peace, they enforced a tsunami with the elders of the area lamenting bitterly and begging for the soldiers to be withdrawn.

So why exactly do we always sit comfortably in our homes and assume the same Nigerian soldiers who are known to be genocidal everywhere they go suddenly became 'professional' in the north-east?... We all know how barbaric soldiers get when one of their own is killed, so with over 1000 soldiers killed in Borno, do you need to be told how unprofessional and genocidal those soldiers would have been while scouting communities for bokoharam members?...

Without being told, I'm sure before the NA kills one BH suspect, they must have murdered 30 innocent people. We all saw the gory videos from amnesty international of soldiers lining people up, slitting their throats and kicking them into a massive pit for burial; do you really think those guys were all truly BH fighters?

So with elders always lamenting when soldiers are sent to their communities all over Nigeria, why did we make an exception when Buhari also lamented the same conduct of the very same Nigerian soldiers in Borno?

If APC supporters had staged a protest, blocked the soldiers and flung stones, bottles and other dangerous missiles at the military then, there would surely have been casualties cos the Nigerian military has not changed any bit between 2015 and today.

By the way, in the 2012 fuel subsidy protests, teargas and live bullets were fired and at least 2 protesters were murdered in cold blood. Never was it reported by anyone that it was GEJ's fault unlike what we get today when people challenge trigger happy policemen and soldiers and then blame it on Buhari.

Needless hatred for Buhari (and of course, Buhari's reciprocation) will soon plunge the country a section of the country into irreversible chaos. A presidential tenure is for 4 years and I doubt Buhari would even go beyond 4 years. Instead of losers of the last election to just put their failure behind, face their businesses and live their normal lives till 2019 when there would be another chance, they rather chose to challenge the sovereignty of the state and stand in front of live bullets from the animalistic Nigerian forces. At the end, after so many souls perish needlessly, what would be the benefit besides accusing the man they hate so much and hoping he would be tried at the ICC (something which would never even happen)?

Common sense is truly not common these days.

But the problem is that since then whenever she's around I don't feel like coming back to my house after work cos all she does is to collect money for this or for that and when I try to tell ha that I don't have she always threatening to break up with me, every time I give her money to buy something that is when everything in the market becomes costly, sometimes I look at her and inmy mind I be lik'e "shey Dis gal no know say I sabi d price of all d things she dy lie abwt''
but I keep cool for the sake of peace...

Abeg can you imagine that a brown powder (Zara) she told she bought for 9k I checked it out and its sold for 3k... since night I haven't talked to her but as usual she's packing her bag now....I know in her mind she's waiting for me to beg her or she leave ......

What do I do FAM .....I truly love her

If anything happens or the grid develops fault. All those generating station will go off or Trip immediately.

1. The fifth guy was the one making it rain; he held the nozzle.
2. The fifth was being carried by the other four, probably in a body bag or casket.

I may not be a power systems engineer, but I know I could turn-on my 10kw generator set and use it to power only a single 60watts light bulb. By doing that, I'd be generating 10kilowatts but consuming only 60watts, while the remaining power produced by my generator remains idle/stranded. Going by my

So going by your explanation, are you by any chance implying there has never been a time when the GENCOs were generating more power than the TRANSCO could wheel out?... Of course if that occurs, the normal thing to do is to cut the excess supply by shutting off some turbines, but you seem to be saying it is practically impossible for the generating companies to (at any time) produce more power than the grid can handle.

From what I read, the above scenario has been the recurring case in Nigeria's power sector for a while - the GENCOS generating a certain amount, but the TCN being able to wheel out only a fraction of what is generated while the extra power generated is left stranded and costing billions to the GENCOs.

How exactly do you explain these reports below?

PoliticsRe: Power Generation Hits All Time High Of 7001 MW by obailala(m):

Prof,Power generation is different from power generation capacity.

In load matching equation, Power Generated = Power demanded

Prof , once again you dont generate electricity and through it into the ocean. You generate electricity to meet a demand.

You can have 20MW generation capacity, but if the load to pick power is about 4MW, the power you generate will be around 4MW
I can generate 1000mw and not feed it to anything, it is called 'generation.'

Nigeria could be generating 7000mw but may just have the capacity to wheel out only 5000mw, or 6700mw (which is reported as the current transmission capacity). I'm not sure I understand why this should even be a topic of argument.

The lie is they cant generate 7000MW,
For you to say they generate 7000MW, it means7000MW is being fed into the power pool called grid and that 7000MW is being consumed or lets say 6000MW is being consumed by the discos assuming there is wild assumption of 1000MW loss.
Even at that disco cant absorb 6000MW.

The rule is your dont generate what is not being consumed hence the system will collapse due to over voltage or over frequency, but on the day that was quoted for the 7000MW , there was no system collapse, so where did the 7000MW go to .or was it stored on the grid.. Lol
You just need to go back to school since you dont have a clue what the word 'generation' means.
PoliticsRe: Power Generation Hits All Time High Of 7001 MW by obailala(m): 7:52pm On Sep 15, 2017

Lies

You need massive and highly capital intensive infrastructure development in both Transmission and Distribution network to be able to handle 7000MW.
Transmission capacity as at last quarter hoveered around 5000MW
One thing about Electricity that people dont know is you cant store it.
As you Generate, there must be people downstream to consume
Power generated = Power demanded + losses.

So its a lie that 7000MW was generated, because where is the Transmission and Distrubtion Network to handle it huh
What exactly is a LIE there? Are you sure you bothered reading the report before compulsively jumping into this your conclusions?... Did you read the part where it said 7001mw was power 'generated'?... You are busy talking of Transmission and Distribution.

A country that has had installed generating capacity of up to 12,000mw for ages does not need any massive capital investment to yank its generation from 3000mw to 7000mw; all that is needed is some turn-around maintenance on already existing but non-functional power turbines, in addition to improving supply of gas to power stations.

By the way, Transmission capacity has recently been upgraded from 5000mw in 2015 to 6700mw recently. So the real problem currently is in Distribution, the useless DISCOs who don't havewhat it takes to be DISCOs.
