engineerboat: I cannot but said that This Administration is out for the wrong thing in this country.
Earlier in the week the NAF Jet Bomb the IDP camp, a civilian community in Rann, Borno State by a Nigerian Air Force jet, causing deaths and injuries.
After the incidence the Government began to release various statements to describe the unfortunate incidence. 1. Mr Lai Mohammed said, it was accidental discharge. 2. Buhari pleads for calm, says it’s a “regrettable operational mistake”
But as soon as the Survivors began to recount their horror stories, that the Jet actually bombed the camp three times, which cannot be said to be accidental again.
Mr Lai Mohhammed swing into action to turn the news around (CHANGE THE INFORMATION); lo and behold, The minister said it was as a result of "FAULT AND FAKES EQUIPMENT WHICH JONATHAN BOUGHT FOR THE NAF, WHICH ARE VERY BAD"
The question now is 1. So Mr Lai Mohammed finally accept that Jonathan actually bought some jet. 2. When did PMB buy new Jet, and from where. 3. The NAF had come out clearly stating the cause of the said accidental bombing, why is Mr Lai Mohammed turning around The information (CHANGE) 4. NAF know that the Jet are fake as claimed by Mr Lai Mohammed and they still went ahead to use them. 4. The same Fake Jet is the ones they are taken to Gambia to smoke out Jammeh. (I hope their will be no accidental discharge in Gambia)
The accidental bombing was a result of the faulty and fake equipments the GEJ administration bought for the Airforce which is very bad.

coolscott: What I am saying is that the suggestion that are grass and forages are not nutritious enough is so nonsensical that the only wonder is why this is not 1960, with some one-eyed educated politician fraudulent spilling gabbage to the largely blind populace.
Please, let me help you understand the grossness of the stupid idea and why it feels just too difficult for one too bear.
Firstly, the approximate nutrient content of every herb, grass or forage identified as being able to serve as food for farm animals is known and properly documented. The process for determining nutrient content is called PROXIMATE ANALYSIS.
Do you know the nutrient composition of our legumes and grasses as compared to those found elsewhere? Do you know what makes them high in nutrients and what may make then not so rich in nutrients?
If we assume some factors are affecting our grasses so they are not as nutritious as they should be, so the solution is to import the grass right?
Our rice production has not been up to par with that of many other countries worldwide and what did the fed govt do? It banned the importation of rice. It banned it because everybody knows that with improved cultural practices the rice (which we consume) will yield more.
Now our healthy grasses are doing very well and someone comes up with the lie that they are not doing well and because they are not doing well, we should allocate millions upon million to import...?
Now let me let you know that legumes are always rich in nutrients. It is in their nature to.
As for grasses, when they are young, they are very nutritious. When they grow older, they lose their nutritive value but the fiber content does increase and fiber is also good for the animals.
Grasses that grow among legumes can benefit from the legumes as the legumes provide a nice supply of nitrogen to the soil, which is good for other plants growing in the same soil.
Genetically modified plants are looked down upon in the developed world. In fact, just about all of Europe has banned THE IMPORTATION of all genetically modified agric produce, and for good reason too. Beef from cattle that got feed genetically modified plants will not be spared the contamination and categorisation as GM product because genetically modified material was involved in making it.
I know the govt and minister did not mention anything about GM grass and that is just your inclusion but it is good to make it clear that any kind of rigmarolling only brings us to the conclusion that the whole idea came from a profoundly stupid place that the rest of us still cannot identify or explain.
There are only 2 options here: Either stupidity or fraud. To the best of my knowledge, most of the rice Nigeria plants today in the current rice revolution were imported improved hybrid rice seedlings which are flood resistant. Except I dont understand the narrative, nobody says the grasses in Nigeria aren't good enough for cows, but getting improved hybrid grass seedlings which when grown, would have more packed nutrients and can probably survive harsh drought conditions, that doesnt sound like a stupid idea as long as we are importing just for production and not consumption. |

bigboss80s: I feel like giving up Focus man, FOCUS!!! Keep things in perspective. Nigeria is NOT a developed nation. We do NOT need the number of trucks they have in the U.K. If the Lagos - Maiduguri rail line is working effectively, many of the Dangote trucks would be taken off the road. The benefit of this in the short term is we can take the pressure off our existing road network and spend more money building new and bigger roads for when we would actually need a plethora of trucks i.e. when we r actually industrialised, as opposed to spending trillions rehabilitating roads destroyed by these same trucks. Besides where in the UK do u see heavy trucks within town? They stop on the outskirts, and smaller trucks convey their payload to the shops. Unlike in Nigeria where a truck will block the entire road just to offload a few cartons of milk to a small store. Heavy Trucks were made for a reason. They work well in some countries. Nigeria is not one of those countries. We have proved that over and over for decades. Right now, the rail and light trucks can handle what the heavy trucks are doing. I hope this makes sense to SOMEBODY. The simple point being made which you have failed to realise is that even in societies which have the most robust rail network, the importance of large trucks can never still be overemphasised. Trains cannot deliver the service of trucks, trains cannot replace trucks. I live in the UK, whenever I embark on a journey, the number of trucks on the roads is mind boggling. There is a legislation which prevents most trucks from driving into cities during the day, but that doesn't mean they arent there lurking in the dark. And yes, just like in Nigeria where trucks block the road to offload goods into stores, that also happens every single day in the UK too; there are thousands of shops (both big and small) which get deliveries several times a day. Only difference in the UK is that the road network is better, so the offloading is done in such a way that it doesnt COMPLETELY block traffic. You say those are developed nations?... Isn't Nigeria supposed to be a developing nations?.. How do we get developed if we don't embrace industrialisation (which requires numerous trucks)?... Several people here have pointed out to you that even the most developed nations with very robust rail network (an superb roads) still need numerous trucks to get goods to the final destination but you insist on your argument that a Nigeria which doesn't even have a rail network should jettison trucks? Your argument might have been meaningful if you were calling for the government to fix our bad road networks and also pass legislation to limit the access of trucks into cities or regulate their activities. But your outright denouncing of trucks is clearly throwing the baby away with the bath water and I'm sorry, that is absolutely pointless. |

PStacks: we all complain Nigerian roads are bad. have you taken a minute to ask yourself what is the cause of these roads going bad.. you see the roads are too burdened by these heavy duty trucks unlike cars, truck tear and wear the roads more easily and faster if you ask my opinion and talking of road safety.. these trucks at a time were asked to restrict their movement to only night travels but they will never adhere..
the truck drivers are usually very reckless too. the disadvantages far outweighs the advantages put together. capitalist only think what favors them and dams the consequences on anybody else You want a country with a buoyant economy right?... You want an industrialized Nigeria where unemployment rate is to the barest minimum, where healthcare is superb and even free, where hunger is eliminated and where as a Nigerian, you can hold your head up high and declare your nationality anywhere you go to in the world? If you want any of that for Nigeria, then you cannot wish these FEW trucks we have away from our road. Just for your info, the problem is not the presence of trucks, the UK for example has hundred times more trucks than Nigeria, and that's in addition to its very robust rail network. The real problem is the absence of roads. |
Business › Re: Dangote Floats $100m Truck Assembly Plant In Lagos by obailala(m): 4:55pm On Jan 16, 2017 |
PStacks: If Dangote is sincere enough, i believe he should be paying more attention and interest to rail..
rail is far more cost efficient than plying trucks on our high ways..
it is gross act of irresponsibility to have federal government construct roads with hard earned tax payers money and have dangote alone ply over 10,000 trucks on road built by the government with tax payers money. Dangote is only taking liverage from the poor masses.. these truck are neusances to the roads and hazrds to the roads and in most cases reckless drivers.
Rail would do us more good in haulage instead of road, or better still, dangote can support the federal government initiative to have all federal government roads run on dualised 5 carriage xpress lanes so as to have special dedicated express lane carriers for trucks like we have in developed countries, not to hav trucks competing with vehicles on the tiny one way the government has bee able to provide how many years after independence..
that obajana road is a complete disaster, dangote is supposed to have taken responsibility for that road long before now.. the okene, lokoja road is a mad death trap, kabba-obajana road where all of dangote cements come from are no go areas.
the earlier we deal with ourselves with sincerity, the better for us as a Nation. While trains are important, they still cannot do the job of trucks; trucks can replace trains but trains cannot replace trucks. So what exactly is the problem here? is it that there are plenty trucks on the roads, or is the problem that a single industrialist owns most of the trucks?.. (I'm sorry but this sounds much like bad-belle). Dangote pays his taxes to the government like everyone else and due to the enormity of his truck fleet and businesses, I'm sure he would be paying a significantly higher amount of tax than the rest of the road users. After paying his taxes to the government, should he be made again to do the job of successive inept Nigerian governments? I wouldn't think that is fair except we are suggesting he should be punished for being an over-successful industrialist. |

bigboss80s: I only asked a question which, by the way, u haven't answered. I don't get into fights here, but u have to be blind to not see that trucks are a big problem on our roads. Like someone pointed out, Dangote is making a wise business decision, but how does it affect Nigeria in the long run? And please don't compare Nigeria to countries like England where they have an excellent maintenance culture. Our roads cannot withstand the pressure of these trucks without regular resurfacing. If he has Nigeria's interest at heart he should be interested in getting NASS to pass bills that would allow private sector involvement in the rail sector. Lighter trucks are needed. That much is certain. But we need a working, reliable, private-sector driven rail system even more. Please what question did you ask?... Trucks are a big problem on our roads but we certainly cannot do without them, not now and not even in the very long term. So what I am yet to understand in your logic is how continuation of truck importation is better than Nigeria manufacturing the trucks it uses. Obviously you seem to be the only one on this thread who is opposed to Nigeria manufacturing its own trucks because you think trucks are bad for roads. A little piece of info for you, even the most advanced nations with the best rail networks still have heavy trucks all over their roads because the use of large trucks is inevitable in any economy; trucks can replace trains but trains can't replace trucks. If your point were to be that the government should fix our roads and build rails to ease some of the load from our roads, that would have been an understandable contribution from you, but on this note, no one seems to understand where you are driving at; are you saying Dangote should start fixing Nigerian roads first or are you saying Dangote should invest in building railways for govt?... Trucks are inevitable to Dangote's business, so are you also suggesting that Dangote continues to import the thousands of trucks he uses instead of producing them here in Nigeria?.. How exactly does importing the trucks ease the pressure on our roads?... What exactly are you all about man? |

Esseite: Good opinion.. was just thinking in line with the kind of politics we play in this country..
If you go back in history.. so much has been said about rail projects and billions of dollars spent.. nothing to show..
Is it not a point of concern that the same minister that abandoned a monorail project is opting for another within a time frame of 2 years untill this adminitration gives way?.
The masses have waited for too long for jamboree projects. From my opinion, better, wider, standard road cutting across every nook and cranny would serve us better for now while we keep hoping for the rail project This is exactly the point I was trying to make, I'm surprised you don't still get it. Amaechi did NOT abandon the monorail project, Wike did, and that is the sort of crude politics the black man plays. It's rather unfortunate that a lot of people (including yourself) think the abandonment of the project is the making of an Amaechi who is NO LONGER THE GOVERNOR. The Calabar monorail project was started by Duke, progressed by Imoke and recently completed and commissioned by Ayade. Had Imoke sworn never to touch the monorail project when he assumed office (like Wike did), the project would have ended up abandoned like many others across the country. While embarking on easier road projects, projects like the speed rail are ambitious projects which we MUST embark upon if we want our economy to go anywhere in the future. |

Ours may have required more than just a few days due to our peculiarities, but the CBN quickly rushed back to pegging the value after it feared that the Naira was falling to steeply. In essence, we could not see the benefits of floating because we cancelled the floatation too quickly (before its benefits could materialise). |
