See, his going to church is better than Islamizing the country. You don't know the peace you have now until it is taken away from you. I.e. if you're a Christian. Please, be wise. Muslim supporters will never antagonize their leaders the way Christians do. This is terrible. The West ll betray GMB, just watch and see. That is their way of life. GMB only has online supporters. When the real time comes, it ll be the opposite.
So because u think Muslim supporters will lie to cover up their leaders then your wise and righteous suggestion is for Christians to also do the same?

What ever happened to doing the right thing and saying the truth?

..... And as far as i know, Buhari is hardly a better alternative. And pls dont give me dat bullcrap dat Buhari represents "change" coz "recycling" is a better adjective.

Dont get me wrong. I have nothing against Buhari and of course I am not a fan of GEJ. But as a concern Nigerian, something tells me Buhari can fight corruption and insecurity but his competence to develop Nigeria is still very much in doubt.

Happy New Year bro.
Nigeria has got extremely intelligent and smart people all over. The lack of bright ideas has never been a problem in Nigeria. Rather, corruption by people surrounding the leadership never allows these bright ideas to actualise. 'Reduce' corruption and you will be shocked at how the nation would be transformed. I did not say 'eliminate' but just 'reduce.' If there is no room for blatant looting anymore, you will be shocked that the same corrupt individuals in our government today would automatically redirect their ingenuity from looting to positive development; yes! Nigerians can be that dynamic.

Furthermore, i think the PDP with their wealth of experience in the game would make a good opposition and any other party at the centre would be put on their toes.

As for Buhari and his percieved cluelessness, if he can deliver on his promise to 'reduce' corruption at the top, that would be just perfect. From his antecedents, GMB allows his deputies to function freely. Till date, most people still ascribe the successes of his previous leadership to his deputy (Idiagbon) so I think in terms of policies, our focus should be on the Prof.

Even a 3year old slowpoke knows the Nigerian Army is a cesspit of corruption. Everyone knows the NA introduced corruption to the Nigerian society so why should I or any other compos-mentis homosapien doubt the contents of that letter?

Since the reign of Jonathan, anybody or organisation who dares to say the truth without sugar coating is a friend/sponsor/ally of bokoharam.

CNN works for BH
BBC works for BH
APC works for BH
Pastor Bakare
Obasanjo works for BH
Oby Ezekwesili works for BH
Azazi worked for BH
Sanusi LS, the moment he raised alarm of missing billions, he was also discovered to also work for BH

So why should anyone be surprised at this news that Saharareporters works for BH?... Afterall our Nairaland Jonathanians have been telling us this for a long time?

All those calling for the arrest of Saharareporters, why dont you lead the arrest team to the sahara desert?..

Kudos to the Nigerian Army. Let them keep the brilliant fight against terrorism.
...and how does a plea by an anonymous concerned individual to the president to investigate the corruption at the military hierarchy slow down the fight against terrorism?

What is even wrong with some Nigerians?... What is wrong witb Jonathan supporters?... Every single issue is perveived to be an attack against Jonathan.

A letter from whoever which stated the obvious is now seen as propaganda against Jonathan ?... Who does not know the Nigerian army is corrupt?... who does not know the NA introduced corruption to Nigeria?...

The sort of paranoia exhibited by Jonathan supporters is sickening. I am still confused how a plea by an unknown individual to GEJ to investigate the corruption at the military hierarchy is what some individuals now term propaganda against Jonathan. Not long ago, SLS raised the issue of the fuel subsidy cabal receiving payments but not importing products. Jonathan supporters interpreted this as an assault against GEJ. Just last year the same SLS called on GEJ to investigate NNPC due to unremitted funds running into billions of dollars and once again, Jonathan supporters immediately interpreted this as propaganda against GEJ.

So far, no one has accused GEJ of being responsible for all these mess but the unnecessary defensive attitude of Jonathan supporters econtinue to make it look like GEJ is solely responsible.

Do not let yourself be deceived by political charlatans an do not let yourself be used by the charlattans to deceive your brothers and deprive the south east of meaningful development.

The long list you have just posted below is a SCAM and the list has been thoroughly scrutinised on another thread here on Nairaland. Most of the projects are either duplicated on the list or are only at 10% completion. Also, some of the projects on the list are actually ghost projects as they only exist on paper. I would not even want to talk of the amount the FG claims was spent on these projects.

Typical example of a false achievement is the PH - Owerri road. It may interest you to know that this project appeared twice on the list under Omo state:
Reconstruction of Elele – Owerri Road
Rehabilitation of Owerri – Port Harcourt Road
The disheartening this about this road in addition to it being mentioned twice is that it is actually one of the worst roads presently in the south east (see pictures of the road taken in September below and you will wonder what this road is doing on that list)

The more we keep spreading this false list as the achievement of GEJ in the SE, we continue to tell him that we are idiotts who are content with his scamming of the zone and we end up shortchanging ourselves.

Politics › Re: Some of The Things Jonathan Supporters List As His "Achievements" by obailala(m): 4:47pm On Dec 23, 2014
Sweetlemon:
Hello all.

Previously I compiled a list of annoying things Jonathan supporters say in his defense. https://www.nairaland.com/1984252/annoying-things-gej-pej-apologists
Today I will be presenting you with things they list as his "achievements".

1. Rainy Season Electricity:
I remember during the peak of the rainy season, there were threads all over the place about how things have frozen in their fridges, about how PHCN is giving them 28/7 light. Fast forward to the coming dry season, how many hours of light una dey get now? When will people see that as a general rule, electricity is always better during the rainy season because of the raised water levels in the dam?? Sorry I don't have the patience to explain much, ask a secondary school science student near you for further explanation.

2. Groundbreaking Ceremonies:
Ok. to be sincere, Jonathan did not fail in the works sector. he did build roads he and there, renovated and built new airports, and railways. BUT you'd be surprised that a good number of these achievements are still in the groundbreaking level, some even still on paper. Such as the 4th mainland bridge, river Niger and river Benue bridges, etc. And a host of other "FG to" " FG plans to" news we keep hearing everyday.
Please allow my eardrums rest and feed my eyes instead biko.

3. The Rule Of Law/ Freedom Of Speech:
"you are saying this because Jonathan is gentle, he's not like OBJ or a military man" "If this was North Korea would you be talking about your president like this" bla bla bla.
Oh really? kindly remind me what system of government we run here. I have been thinking we were in a democratic regime all this while o! Are we even in Nigeria or North Korea? Abi I don miss road ni?
If your Jonathan was so sweet and gentle why did he harass Sanusi like that? Why did he turn Rivers state into a chess board game with Amaechi? Why did he suddenly increase fuel price that much despite all our pleas to at least provide some sort of soft landing for us first and on the first day of the year for that matter? Why did he......... in fact, let me save all the 'Whys' and 'Hows' for another day.
FYI, Yar'Adua was the real person who never interfered in court rulings, who never intimidated opponents, who never looked for trouble in anybody's state. Let me stop here before I start crying cry cry cry cry When Yar'Adua died, One of my Northern bobos then told me that Nigerians will soon start crying for Yar'Adua and I laughed at him and told him not to worry because we now have goodluck so no cause for alarm. Kai! cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry

4. Nigerians Are Now Now Informed About FG Activities Because Of Jonathan's Transparency:
In their minds now they have buttered up all the shameful scams and missing billions of dollars recorded under Jonathan's watch by we are hearing about them now unlike during other regimes because of his "transparency". Really? Oh well sorry to burst your bubble. The reason why we are more informed now than during other administrations is because Nigerians are now more inquisitive and politically aware. We no longer wait for brown-envelop loving journalists to bring us news. We now use inside sources and thankfully investigative journalism is now gaining ground. We are now in the era of smart phones and people have been able find other uses for their phone. Such as capturing and reporting live news.

5. Foreign Investments:
Oh puleeeze! USA, UK, China, and co. have been falling over themselves to "invest" in Nigeria since time immemorial. Nigeria has always been a gold mine, for those who can find their way to the gold. Don't you just get it? The gains and returns from these investments are hardly ever felt by the masses. Yes, they help in developing and civilizing us but they hardly, in the long run, they actually us. Example telecoms companies. You will be shocked to know the call and data rates in other countries. Government take the taxes and levies they pay and pocket them instead of using their investments to provide infrastructure and other basic needs for us.
So please stop getting us excited with your "France to invest $1B in Nigeria" "Nigeria signs $5B deal with Russia" headlines because we don't get to feel the money.

Let me stop here, I'm missing Yar'Adua cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry
1000 likes for this post..
It pains me to my bones when I hear Jonathan apologists come up with these silly defences such as, he is transparent, he allows freedom of speech etc. The worst of all is the claims that Jonathan has built a second Niger bridge amongst other spurious delusional claims. Truth is that Nigerians have become militantly concerned with what goes on in the corridors of power and the social media boom has helped greatly in spreading this awareness.

Whenever I remember an insensitive statement I made in 2010 regarding Yaradua, I still feel depressed and I pray God forgives me. I turned on the TV that faithful morning and saw on the news that Yaradua was returned into the country in the middle of the night. In an unprecedented fit of rage, I yelled "why is this maga still alive." ...and this was all because I passionately wanted the meek and charismatic Jonathan to be my president.

From this link, http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=83223, it is clear that the project was not abandoned without a reason, and the contractor has been remobilised to resume work after sorting out the issues that led to work stalling. GEJ has a masterplan for the overall development of the country which he is diligently following despite all the BH distractions which follows from the threat of the disgruntled politicians who promised to make Nigeria ungovernable. I have seen a lot of comments trying to ascribe some of the listed projects to OBJ and this is where I think a lot of people are getting it wrong. Government is a continuum, so project implementation life cycle most often than not will overlap across multiple regimes. This is the more reason a GMB led FG would be the worst thing to happen to Nigeria because he will set out to retard our progress. A case point was the Lagos metro project which he cancelled as military head of state due to pure ethnocentric bias, only to tell us today that he did it in order to save the value of the naira. People should be careful.
At least you are still one of the sane ones that agree that the project was abandoned. My point is simple, if we agree the project is abandoned, why is it listed 'twice' as an achievement of Jonathan?

Are you suggesting that I'm lying about the state of the road?... The pictures were taken sometime in the last 3 months. No Nigerian will see a truly good thing and come here to deny it with pictures.

This particular road has been on the news recently. It is ironically a shame that GEJ supporter who are mainly from the southeast would go around spreading falsehood about fictitious development in the southeast, thereby short-changing the zone.

There's been a serious war of words between the Imo State government and FG on the state of this road. It is a full frontal insult to Imo State citizens and the entire southeast zone for anyone to even think of mentioning a nightmarish death trap road as an achievement.

Another annoying claim of the GEJites is the Onitsha - Owerri road which was also built to 99% completion by OBJ. When I opened this thread and saw the looooong list, I knew it must be some form of SCAM. I didnt know where to start scrutinising from so I simply jumped to my state and something immediately caught my attention.

* Reconstruction of Elele - owerri road
* Rehabilitation of Owerri - Port-Harcourt road

Firstly, I am still struggling to understand what the difference is between these 2 roads undecided. This typically explains why the list is so long; only God knows the number of other duplications contained in this list if I could spot this in a split second.

Secondly and most disheartening is that this same road has been under construction for ages (since OBJ's tenure I believe) and it's still under construction till date. So how does it now count as an achievement of this administration?

The road isn't even anywhere close to completion and after passing through it last month, I wouldn't be wrong if I say this is one of the WORST ROADS IN THE COUNTRY PRESENTLY. The only axis of this road which is excellently motorable is the Rivers state axis of the road which ironically was constructed by Rivers State government (and up till now, Amaechi is still begging for a refund from the FG). angry

Finally, who even cares if the list is as long as the Nile?... A vital question to be asked is, at what cost were these projects executed?

With the prevailing corruption in the country, it is only a fool that would believe any meaningful development can actually take place. Attempting to develop the country without paying a single attention to graft is just like fetching water from a stream with a basket.

My fellow Nigerians, please see for yourselves the images of the PH - Owerri road which has just been counted twice as an achievement of this administration in Imo state. What kind of wickedness is this?.. Nigerians have always been the problem of Nigeria.

Thanks to this administration... At least let's commend them for this and others too. We have our short comings and we also have our achievements.
If u must append this success to politicians and are desparate to count this as an achievement of this administration, may u also be reminded that we had only 21 cases in 2010 when this administration started and it skyrocketed to 122 cases under this administration. Fortunately for once in its reign, this administration has been able to cleanup one of its own mess... embarassingly with the help of Bill gates' billions in donations

@Op
There are different reasons why Buhari wins only on social media. Hopefully this time around, his victory would be extended to reality with the full machinery of a large political party behind him (remember last time he contested under the flag of a 2 months old tiny party created by him but was able to gather 12million votes)

I can think of 3 main reasons for now:

1. Level of exposure
The people who vote on social media are relatively more educated, enlightened and exposed. Hence they are not easily swayed by the toxic negative propaganda that pdp spreads about Buhari. Unfortunately, the main people who vote in elections are the uneducated, unenlightened masses in rural areas who are easily deceived by pdp propaganda and are also easily bought over with bags of rice or salt. We all know the party which controls our national treasury so it is clear who can buy more bags of rice.

Furthermore, most of the enlightened ones on social media are either Nigerians is diaspora who will end up not voting or rich comfortable Nigerians who for the fear of flying bullets, will never leave their houses on election days.

2. Voters Intimidation
On social media people express themselves freely without fear or intimidation and their votes cannot be bought. In the real election, the story is different.

In the 2011 general elections, my sister went out with the intention to vote Buhari. After thumprinting for CPC, she wasnt allowed to drop her ballot into the box until she showed the inec guy and some fierce looking thugs whom she had voted for. On seeing that she voted cpc, her ballot paper was torn right infront of her while she was given a fresh sheet to vote the 'right' man. At this point, she opted not to vote anymore but was cajoled by fierce looking thugs. For her personal safety, she just voted PDP and ran home. This was in Delta state and God knows the millions of other innocent voters who were also disenfranchised this way. She had voted Buhari on social media but was forced to vote Jona in real life

3. Rigging Rigging Rigging
After voting, the results are counted before everyone and a result is anounced. When you turn on the radio the next day, you hear totally different figures. If you are aggrieved, you are advised to go to court, and we all know how long that takes. Sometimes even the number of votes cast exceeds the number of registered voters. The recent PDP primaries in Lagos which has now been nullified by the courts rings a bell (total number of accredited delegates was 617 but total number of votes counted was 663).

Gflat:
I am sorry to say boss but your people (moderators) are seriously making the Frontpage a joke... sad

Though they are trying their best but you should have noticed people aren't really impressed with it. The reason why i had to create this thread was:
I introduced Nairaland to my uncle few weeks ago though he has been visiting as a guest and seem to enjoy the topics discussed especially some that made it to FP.

But recently he started asking me what kind of "irrelevant" stuffs were being updated recently. I couldn't give a good response to that all i could do was smile...

Mr seun, i aren't "jealous" or anything but i noticed some mods have also taken over the celebrity section...their post(s) are always making fp..is this an example of how things are suppose to run around here??

I am sorry if i have stepped on toes i just feel i should let out my mind. We all love Nairaland..no where else can remind us of Home

God bless Nigeria, God bless Nairaland smiley
Sorry about your concerns but you need to understand Nairaland is a public forum.

What you find very informative and relevant may be useless and irrelevant trash to the next person. That is why at every instance, there are over 60 topics on the FP for you to choose from.

Live and let live!
