trapangels:Yes I can hear myself very clearly... It is common knowledge that there is no such thing as a corrupt free govt. Even the most developed and advanced economies have elements of corruption but I thank God you agree with me that our present govt is the most corrupt on the face of the planet. Now you say you prefer the more corrupt govt we presently have because 'at least you know their level of filth ...and you fear the less corrupt guys may be corrupted later in future.' Well, you are entitled to your own decisions and are free to vote for whoever you like. However, in my own world, I think it is foolishness for me to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result (all because of the fear of the unknown). I would rather try something new and if it doesnt work out, I push it aside and once again try something else until i achieve desired results. |
gogochocolate:Enjoy your clanish fools paradise!... not everyone views the world through that microscopic prism. |
gogochocolate:..and in your mind, you are automatically 101% sure that the motor assembly plant in Nnewi will be closed if GEJ leaves power? Can you please take several seats at the back... ![]() If a less corrupt government is at the centre, you will surely see several more automotive assembly plants springing up across the south east. With less corruption and better security even in the north, investor confidence would be boosted in Nigeria as a whole and more foreign investors would surely troop down into the south east to tap into the juicy business environment of Nigeria. NISSAN, FORD and TOYOTA would surely love to have a plant in Nigeria but due to the percieved insecurity and corrupt business environment (especially by govt officials demanding cutbacks), these companies have been very wary of investing a kobo in Nigeria and have kept away. The story of Virgin Nigeria and the shocking words of Richard Branson when he pulled away from Nigeria is still fresh in our minds. With the forthcoming elections, these guys are closely monitoring Nigeria and praying a less corrupt govt takes over. Saboteur to Igbo race indeed, what Nonsense!... The kind of Igbo blood in me is too superior and does not permit blind and silly followership. By the way, is Jonathan even an Igbo man?... Okay, he's not my brother but rather my close neighbour so I can easily assume he's my brother but then, "OF WHAT USE IS MY BROTHER'S LEADERSHIP TO ME IF HE CANNOT DEVELOP THE NATION OR EVEN JUST OUR FATHER'S COMPOUND?" |
Nairaland MODs na wa! Even though the Punch Newspaper published this story yesterday (for whatever reason), isn't it clear to the Nairaland MODs that this is an old article?... Why does this have to be put on the frontpage? ![]() |
dcaliph:A very simple and explicit answer... 1. Clanishness does not put food on the table... 2. The southerners are way too enlightened hence are aware of no.1 above unlike the majority illiterate northern population. “Of what use is my brother, my blood brother who is not going to move the nation forward? And you want me to vote for him because he is my brother? |
Source: www.lindaikeji.... what nonsense! ...or wait a minute, it's actually a fake site; www.lindaikejist ![]() Merely reading through the story, this has to be the most silly and most unintelligent attempt at fabricating false propaganda. Show me your mentor and I will tell you who you are and what you will become. The virus of cluelessness, pettiness and flimsiness has definitely spread amongst the TANoids. **spits on thread and walks away** |
bilms:This is too embarrassing ![]() |
cuteboy2:That is an unforgiving mistake you just made there. |
hyfr:Well, maybe you did not say so personally, my apologies. But a lot of GEJ supporters keep screaming that GMB detained Ekwueme for nothing. All I'm saying is that your allegation against Ekwueme that he was corrupt kind of exonerates GMB. |
For the fact that we do not have enough opposition is to my view a natural development. When IBB decreed two political parties, NRC and SDP, he called me and asked what I thought of that, I told him in principle that I am in support of two party system where there are two strong parties. But I have reservations for the two party system being created by a decree. So, now in this dispensation we have the PDP, we have the APC which is the major opposition party which I think is healthy one provided we base our decision making on issues rather than abuses. The formation of the APC was the best thing that happened to Nigeria's democracy. At least the PDP can no longer do whatever they like without consequences. However due to the poor report card of Jonathan, the entire PDP machinery is now left with no other campaign tool other than abusing the opposition. Instead of advertising their candidate, they dwell on running down their opponents. If one opens the Nairaland political section or any other website, 90% of the threads have 'Buhari' mentioned in their title. If it's not APC promoting GMB, it is PDP abusing GMB but whatever the case, it is all about GMB. How would you assess that of the President Jonathan. How would you see the presidency under Jonathan? It must be really painful and depressing for the founding fathers of PDP to have such an inept and confused individual as Jonathan representing their party.... A leader who only 'occupies' a seat and some Nigerians actually want this Jonathan to continue occupying the seat for a further 4 years even while the nation burns.. Well, you should bear in mind that this trouble in the North-East didn’t start with Jonathan. At a time insurgents were occupying local government headquarters in Yobe State before Jonathan even came on the scene, but it escalated after Jonathan was elected and 2011. Stories connect it to some statements made in 2011 that if Jonathan wins, they will make the country ungovernable. And after the election, insurgents took over a whole region of a country that out of 26 local government areas in Borno State, Boko Haram is in charge of 22. So, it’s a situation that is not necessarily of Jonathan’s making. However, his approach to it, it’s a matter of approach. In our time we had Maitatsine, I think in the same Borno State, the same Maiduguri but President Shehu Shagari didn’t waste time in crushing them. They resurfaced in Kano, we faced them again squarely, surfaced in Sokoto State, his own state, in area that was our showpiece for rural development, irrigation, there they were finally crushed, they didn’t rear their heads again until we finished. Then when Buhari came in 1984, they resurfaced again this time in Yola and he dealt with them as well. Some people said that you can’t kill insurgency with the force of arms, but even insurgents are not immortal, except for few who are suicidal elements; many of them don’t want to die in the final analysis. So, if you face them squarely, they are bound to retreat.Jonathan has proven and reproven that he is incapable of leading a complex nation like Nigeria. He is absolutely incapable of being a commander in chief of the armed forces and that's why our military is in total disarray and can't defeat a ragtag insurgence. It's a real pity that most southeasterners and southsoutherners have refused to empathize with the people of the northeast. It's very easy to be nonchallant and say things like "they brought it upon themselves, so it's not our business." What we fail to understand down south is that if this insurgence is not checked quickly, it will grow stronger and will eventually spread to the south. We have a leader who is incapable of providing security and yet we dont give a damn and want this ineptitude to continue for a further 4 years all because we think we are punishing the north? |
hyfr:Oh!... so you now agree that Ekwueme committed some atrocities and was corrupt?... Yet you keep screaming blue murder about why Buhari had to place him in detention for a while... You have just succeeded in exonerating GMB. |
ggrey2020:Osimbajo Muslim?.... even if he is and so what??... Lol ![]() ..some of these Jonathanians are now beginning to lose it. ![]() |
tandj:Osinbajo not being in the southeast together with GMB is degrading and insulting?? Can u kindly explain what u just said please? Seems like these Jonathanians are now getting frustrated and confused. |
mrmetoo1: ![]() The way in which the Jonathanians keep blabbing from all corners of their mouth with all sorts of conflicting allegations is baffling. The fact remains that if Osinbajo becomes the de facto president while GMB is in the background, that would also still be a wonderful and desirable situation considering the sheer brilliance radiated by the Prof. |
The Federal Government has denied allegations by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that it squandered the country’s foreign reserve."Nigeria’s reserves during the period were not squandered but used appropriately in the course of normal transactions required for the development of the Nigerian economy.” Excess income was used for 'Normal Transactions' and someone here thinks this is a sensible explanation by the government? Nigerians have grown too smart to be continuously deceived by these charlatans!... except of course we sometimes decide to act a fool and allow ourselves to be deceived due to ethnic/tribal/religious sentiments. |
babyfun:Africans and their grand religious delusion! FYI, God will NEVER leave his kingdom and come down to change the situation or condition of Nigeria or any nation at all. Instead he uses mortal men to make the changes and obviously, if the mortal man God intended to use was GEJ, GEJ has just failed both God and man and it is time to move on. Never in Nigerian history has an incumbent leader been this close to losing a re-election bid. Maybe this is just the hand of God at work in a bid to give us the change we so badly desire. If the mortal man we need is not Buhari/Osinbajo, we would know soon enough after their rule. However, something we all know for sure at this time is that that mortal man isn't Goodluck Ebelemi Azikiwe Jonathan. |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMQ8tyEu9qY @ 15:45 - Why did Amaechi just snatch the mic from Abike Dabiri in that manner?... That was very uncalled for and irresponsible ![]() |
backtosender:www.nairaland.com/attachments/2001706_phtrain1_jpegd53d8d01a7d0322a3f2c1fb54e2ac5e0 ..And this is what over $35billion dollars in excess crude savings was squandered on?... A refurbished 1970 train from PH to Enugu and you expect a sound person to be impressed by this devilish squander-mania? If only Nigerians truly know how much is squandered and looted daily since the loose reign of GEJ, we would have been out on the streets protesting. |
...But the church explained, though informally, that it was a way of controlling the crowd and discouraging thousands of people who come to church once a year on 31 December and prevent “real worshippers” from securing seats at the headquarters on that important night...The gospel according to Christ Embassy Enterprises, "Christians who do not have N1000 are not REAL WORSHIPPERS" This has to be the most irresponsible statement I have ever heard from a church. God help us! ![]() |

SiriusBlack:@ SiriusBlack I totally disagree with you on this! The reason why the soldier went public with hus complaints was because he wanted his voice to be heard; LIB just helped him to achieve that. I'm sure the said soldier knows too well the consequences of his actions even more than you do but being fed up with the insensitivity of Army authorities and the government towards soldier welfare, he couldnt be bothered about the consequences anymore. Resigning from the military isnt easy, there are a lot of soldiers today in the north east who wish to be courtmarshalled and dismissed peacefully instead of being killed when battling with bokoharam with no bullets. Blaming LIB for amplifying the voice of the soldier is like blaming Channels TV or AIT for broadcasting the protests of angry pensioners. These protests are done with a view to attract public attention and linda ikeji simply did the soldier a favour... Besides, that might not even be the soldier's real picture or name. |

tobechi74:Nigerians wanted change! Nobody wanted the old general in 2003 or in 2007 especially when there was an option of a well learned university lecturer (Yaradua). In 2011, Nigerians wanted change again and opted for the humble Jonathan (who had no shoes). Jonathan to everyone had all the trappings of the much awaited change Nigerians prayed for. He was the first Nigerian president without any direct links to the military mafia and he enjoyed massive goodwill from all regions of Nigeria. Nigerians also being very spiritual, believed that the kind of luck and favour which followed goodluck would be rubbed off on the country; how wrong we were. Fastforward to a few years later and Jonathan proved himself not only to be extremely incompetent and clueless in his approach to leadership, he also erroneously surrounded himself with the worst of the worst vultures that had plundered and ruined Nigeria over the decades. The goodwill of the people brought him to power but immediately he took over the reign, he sided with the evil cabal (who ironically were against him in 2010 when Yaradua was sick). To cut the long story short, Nigerians are tired of GEJ and the old general is the only alternative at this time. The only supporters Jonathan still has are office holders benefitting from corruption and people from the SE and SS who are just being tribally sentimental. |
Balkan: Balkan: 9ijaprince: meolaniyi:Diehard Jonathan fans keep bothering themselves with non-issues. Oh Yes! we all know Idiagbon was an active force in Buhari's previous administration and we all also know that Buhari single handedly picked Idiagbon to be his deputy. Judging from what we all know about Buhari, he allows his deputies the liberty to function to full capacity and this is the reason why your focus and my focus should be on the seasoned Professor whom so far has proven himself to be an intellectual who knows his onions. It is even evident from the campaigns so far that Osinbajo is independent as he is seen leading the campaign train of his party to several locations. If PDP is deposed in february, Professor Osinbajo would be the defacto president of the federal republic; and I don't think tht would be a bad idea. |
vigasimple:Do you really mean to tell me that of all the disheartening figures you just saw in that report, all you care about is the personality of the messanger? Are you a Nigerian?... If you really care about yourself and the future of your children, how come you are not perturbed by the figures in that report but only concerned by the irrelevant character of the messanger? |
huptin:The most painful part of this is that GEJ die hard supporters would not even see anything wrong with these figures... As a matter of fact, 100% of their focus in this report would be on the personality of the messanger and they wouldn't be perturbed a bit by this gruesome economic mismanagement. Very soon they would say the squandered $30billion+ was used to refurbish some 1970 locomotives running from PH to Enugu. ..And one wonders why a nation which has been enjoying an unprecedented oil price boom will instantly go broke, initiate austerity measures, crash the value of its currency and wouldn't even be able to pay civil servants; all these happening the very second the oil price boom reverses because not a single dime was saved yet all Nigerians can boast of in terms of infrastructure are some refurbished 1970 trains running from PH to Enugu. May God deliver us from clueless corrupt leaders and most especially from zombie followers! |
Stancollins:Insulting the messanger or deceiving yourself that the messsage is a lie does not change the truth. The figures dont lie and you can easily get the said figures from several sources. |
Considering the all inclusive nature and completeness of the bible, any single statement made in this world can be backed up by a biblical quote. |
allisonluvsu:Up till now budget for INEC to run the election has not been approved by FG. INEC effectively hasn't started any real preparations for the election which is in less than 6 weeks. |
Incorruptible:Even if Apostle Paul is the APC flagbearer, your type will typically still vote GEJ. So please spare us your 'No Buhari' gospel. If you must know why GMB is the flagbearer, it is for political expediency. Even if Osinbajo is as wise and intelligent as King Solomon in the Bible, he will not be able to win an election in Nigeria because he is not known. The 'face' of Buhari alone is capable of gathering over 10million votes in the north and that is where political expediency comes in. Remember, before any campaign promises or change can be fulfilled, the first step is to win the election. Furthermore, no matter how intelligent or wise or upright people like Osinbajo or Fashola may be, they may not be able to dislodge the evil cabals in NNPC, NEPA etc who are holding the country down. The face of a no-nonsense general like GMB might just be what is needed to instil fear in the hearts of these cabals. To bring the required change in a country like Nigeria, it requires not just intelligence and wisdom, but also the presence of a 'Hardliner' at the top. From his past antecedents, Buhari gives his deputies the freedom to function freely. Buhari's previous leadership in 80's was driven mainly by his deputy (Tunde Idiagbon). From the look of things, if APC wins in 2015, I forsee Osinbajo being the defacto Nigerian president while Buhari remains only a figure head. For this reason, I have closely followed Osinbajo's candidacy and what I see in him looks very positive and promising. |
donpeey22:Continue wallowing in your self deciet/delusion. I would rather be called an ingrate than to go against the principles of common sense in order to feel like an Igbo man all because you said so. You say GEJ made the south east feel a sense of belonging by appointing Ihejirika as COAS. This is embarrasingly the lowest of the lowest forms of petty and absolutely senseless tribal reasoning. That Ihejirika was made a COAS (and also a billionaire), how did that appointment benefit the hard working tailor in Ariaria market?... How has the billions made by Ihejirika affected the lives of his immediate neighbors in his village?... Why should I as an Igbo man see this as a blessing?.... You also say OBJ/Yaradua sidelined the Igbos and I ask, reputable individuals like Soludo, Ernest Ndukwe, Oby Ezekwesili, Dora Akunyili, Okonjo-Iweala, Okereke Onyiuke, Barth Nnaji etc who made great impact in the nation, were these distinguished individuals appointed by Idi Amin or are they Yoruba? Again you say GEJ upgraded the Akanu ibiam airport in Enugu to international standard and I ask, was it the only airport in the country that was upgraded?... You accuse OBJ of relegating the South East zone and it makes me begin to wonder if GSM telecommunication introduced by OBJ was intoduced to only the NOrth and Southwest while the east was left out but GEJ came in and built airports ONLY in the South East (hence the need for us to worship him for being the only one who remembers Igbos). You also delude yourself by prematurely celebrating the SCAM second Niger bridge which is presently at 0.01% completion. A proposed 1.5km long bridge which comes at an overinflated rate of N117billion whereas a 1.3km beautiful suspension bridge in an ovepopulated lagos was built for N30billion. Furthermore, several bridges have been built in other parts of the country free of charge (e.g. the Loko-Oweto bridge linking Nasarawa and Benue) yet Igbos wishing to use the yet to be constructed Niger bridge have already been told to brace up to pay toll fees for the next 25 years... and someone here tells me I should be excited and worship GEJ for this SCAM blessing to Igbos? Now in the greatest form of self delusion, you say the Enugu port Harcourt expressway has been fixed by GEJ. A road whose rehabilitation is less than 10% complete after 6 years of GEJ yet you expect sane Igbos to rejoice over this scam?... I am trying hard here not to insult you for this your misguided statement. You say OBJ didnt fix a single road in the South East?.. May God forgive you for this blasphemous statement. It may interest you to note that the Onitsha-Owerri road which is falsely being labelled an achievement of Jonathan was actually constructed by Julius Berger to 95% completion in OBJ's tenure. During Yaradua's reign, the contract for the remaining short distance on the road was terminated because of excessive contract inflation. GEJ only came in and re-awarded the contract for the final few kilometres of the road (only God knows at how much). For you to even mention the Enugu port Harcourt expressway as an achievement, you are no longer being delusional but rather diabolically mischievious. If you are sure of what you say, why dont you say AMEN to the prayer that your life would be as smooth and complete as the Enugu port Harcourt expressway. |
