Arsenate: say no to homosexuality. it's evil...but that's not the only evil in existence.. How come we all tend to lose sleep over what 2 adults do behind closed doors which doesn't affect the next person in anyway?... We have corruption like cancer eating us up and killing millions since the beginning of time, we have bokoharam, we have Nigerian police, we have militants, we have natural disasters, we have PDP, we have all sorts of evils we should be bothered about yet everyone keeps losing sleep over what 2 adults do behind closed doors... If we must be religious extremists, then fornicators, adulterers, polygamists, liars, etc MUST also be put behind bars... I wonder why everyone approves of these other vices and yet insult sharia mongers who have decided to go all the way to pass judgement on behalf of God.. |
Descartes: Let's go by your ascertion,I believe I reserve the rights to commit the fallacy of generalization in this case... I would be unfair to exclude myself in my submission (even though I know I am not included) |
Demdem: Only irredeemable fools still talk about the continuation of Egbere Jonathan in power. To set the record straight, Nigerians are irredeemable by nature... Even if Jonathan leaves and a worse person takes over, our youths, adults and aged will still roll out en mass to worship the new cretin |
1 million Nigerian youths solidarity rally in support of charlatans and fraudsters... I am sure when conducted, more than 2 million persons will turn out including 50 years old youths... Another scary pointer to the prevalent joblessness and hopelessness the nation faces. |
englishmart: why ebola of all sicknesses? Why he was tested for ebola??.... Because there's a prevalent ebola epidemic in certain areas of west africa.. and the symptoms of ebola include diarrhoea and vomitting |
englishmart: That man has given us bad name o. Chai. Those white men will start seeing us the way we see liberians. He doesn't have the virus, didn't you read the report? ![]() News reports of this nature can be very damaging because 99% of the people reading the title will misinterpret the story and Nigerians will now be stigmatized worldwide.. He probably was suffered from fever and diarrhoea when he arrived the UK so as a precautionary measure, he was quickly tested for ebola and was confirmed negative.. |
Top 10 Most Expensive US Military Planes |
Nihilist: I don't think you understand the meaning of the word 'Impunity'.Read through my posts, I never asserted that the white man is a saint so please no need for insults.. From your arguments so far, you have been trying to convince me that the degree of corruption and also the widespread nature of corruption obtainable in every facet of life in Nigeria is EQUALLY obtainable in countries like France, Italy, Spain, UK, US etc... I am afraid I do not agree with you at all. In fact, I find that to be a very laughable conclusion on your part and I would need an entire lifetime of convincing and brainwashing to even consider your argument. I also do not wish to continue with this discussion. |
Nihilist: LmaoI have simply explained to you what the malaise is, IMPUNITY. Corruption is a major problem in Nigeria, but impunity is the greatest problem which nourishes this corruption... Impunity is the ONLY reason why Nigeria is synonymous with corruption. Berlusconi for instance was charged for tax evasion and sentenced to prison. In the next 100 years can you honestly say tax evasion can send even a local government chairman to prison in Nigeria?.. by all standards, that isn't even a crime in Nigeria because corruption has already been infused into our culture. If IBB, Abacha's children, OBJ etc were charged to court and imprisoned for their blatant looting of our national wealth, do you honestly think corruption would be as wide spread as it is in Nigeria today?.. If only our leaders could have a single iota of fear as regards stealing public funds, don't you think the nation would be better?.. Impunity remains the biggest problem in Nigeria. ..and just before I go, Yes! the degree of corruption in Nigeria is thousands of miles ahead of what is obtainable in those developed countries you keep mentioning.. the reason is obvious from my explanations.. |
Nihilist:Now I see you must belong to the lot who excuse our societal ills because you strongly believe we aren't alone.. Always screaming things like, "Nigeria is not the only corrupt country"... I weep for the so called intelligence you claim.. Now back to the statement you tried to counter, do you really think those other countries mentioned have an EQUAL and widespread level of corruption and moral decadence as Nigeria?.. If so, how come they still prosper but we only retrogress? .. have you ever asked yourself that question? Yes! corruption exists everywhere however, the Nigerian corruption dish is served with a very special spice called IMPUNITY which makes it irresistible and unstoppable. IMPUNITY = "if I steal and I'm caught, I am 99% sure I will not still go to prison" With impunity over the decades, our corruption has grown to unbelievable heights which dwarfs what is obtainable in those other countries mentioned... Now that is why they progress and we don't; our corruption is at a totally different level.. Nigerians really need to shelve the complacent argument of "corruption exists everywhere" |
The problem with raising awareness to such issues these days (especially on nairaland) is that someone would soon politicize this and the thread would soon degenerate into a PDP vs APC madness ![]() |
APContherun:..And what is crappy about the post?.. That statement seems like the ONLY truthful and reasonable statement in this entire threadObiagelli:Aren't you ashamed posting such crap here? |
ochejoseph: SINCERELY CAN YOU DO THIS ?I can do this for my younger or older sister, I can do this for my mum, I can even do this for just a friend. So why on earth should it be an issue to do this for my wife?.. or do I hate her so much? How does helping my own wife buckle her shoe (when she's putting on a supposedly tight skirt which makes it difficult for her to bend) make me less of a man biko?.. How silly can people go to prove that they are 'real men'? www.nairaland.com/attachments/1580568_fam_2_main_jpeg8a0336564b8e9dcd511cd226cb2e7b06 |
0rlando0woh: My brother you and the person you quoted are the dumb ones here, learn to think critically instead of swallowing everything the whites tell you.NO A lot of our people read and listen to the sweet-coated chunks of foreign news and let themselves to be deceived. In terms of power generation worldwide, coal is going nowhere just yet, at least not in the next 50 years. Countries like Germany, Japan, China etc. know this fact too well that's why they are aggressively expanding their coal power generation capacity yet Nigerians are talking of the renewable energy mirage... Nigeria needs to diversify its energy supply. Aren't we tired of hearing stories like "Power generation drops as militants blow up gas pipeline"? |
double3: I get your point, but the issue here is that those plants making use of coal as raw material to produce electricity where built long before the world started laying emphasis on clean source of energy and it may interest you to know that some of these coal plants are being decommissioned due to its impact on the ecosystem, therefore It would be ideal for us to tap into the current clean and green technology. To further stress my point, this is an online article I copied "...About 6.1 gigawatts of UK coal plant capacity is expectedThe ugly truth is, yes! there are campaigns here and there to stop the use of coal but that is absolutely unrealistic (at least for the next 50 years). UK which you cited still generates over 30% of its power from coal and 2015 is in 5 months time; I do not see them shutting down 30% of their power generation in less than a year when there isn't a suitable replacement in place. Clean renewable energy which is being touted all over the place is still at the infancy stage and cannot meet up to 2% of the entire energy demand in these so called developed countries.. Contrary to what they tell you about abandoning coal, developed countries such as the UK are actually developing means to reduce the emissions from coal through means such as carbon capture. That is what Nigeria should be targeting if going 'clean' must be considered as one of our concerns (even with all our blaring generators). Remember, highly developed nations like Germany, Japan, China etc. are presently expanding their coal power capacity because they understand the economics involved. In my opinion, considering the rate of emissions we have in Nigeria from 'I pass my neighbour' generators, developing coal power plants and taking away our reliance on gas power should be a very huge step in the the 'forward' direction.. We simply need to crawl before we start thinking of walking or running... Even the big boys aren't running yet. |
kel4soft: My Igbo brothers if not for opposition, this second Niger Bridge wouldn't have materialized. You know how long it took for the FG to fulfil its ground breaking event since 2011 election promise. We are moving forward because of vibrant opposition. The work of opposition is to criticize and give solution which Okechukwu Osita did in his statement. After blaming the PDP government for failing to make Enugu State productive. He suggested coal would have been an alternative. Igbos, una wise pass like this na.It doesn't take much more than common sense to know the bolded part of your statement.. However if you leave some of the GEJ supporters, they would pray and fast for Nigeria to be a one party state. |
double3: Coal is not a clean source of energy, any mega project involving burning of coal to produce electricity is not ideal in this very 21st century. The world is going green therefore we should tap into the green economy as well. fashrola: please preach it to most of these dumb people on NL@double3 The world isn't an ideal place yet. No country in the world uses only clean energy. Mention any developed or ideal 21st century nation in the world and I will tell you how much they rely on coal for their power. US today produces over 44% of its massive power from coal plants while china produces almost 70% of its massive power from coal and there are no concrete plans to change this in the next 100years. Then you suggest that Nigeria which isn't able to efficiently light-up a single state should start considering clean power?.. My take is that we should learn to crawl before we think of walking and then running. @fashrola It is simply laughable when an uninformed/unenlightened person refers to others as dumb. Fully educate yourself before you jump to insult others... Google is your friend |
OlaJohnson1: It is because of people like you that make me feel discouraged making comments on NL, you don't make any logical comment. I can't but agree with Barcanister that between the APC and PDP guys on NL, the APC guys have a well-thought arguement.FACT!!! In the typical Nigerian spirit, the PDP guys are intellectually lazy because they hold power and they believe they would hold power forever. Just the same way Nigeria became lazy when oil was discovered... The PDP guys come up with some ridiculous arguments that would make any sensible person cringe and when they want to save you the stress, they simply scream "GEJ till 2019." I wouldn't forget in a hurry, the shock I received about a month ago when I argued with a cousin who strongly believed Nigeria was a better nation under GEJ and cited an unprecedented improvement in power supply as he now gets minimum 18hrs of power daily. Of all things to cite as an example, it was NEPA On the other hand, the APC guys know they have to be extra smart and convincing in their arguments to win over people... Unfortunately, no matter the smart arguments put up by the APC e-warriors, it has little or no effect because a majority of Nigerians are lazy upstairs, we simply believe in religion, ethnicity, tribe and then the embarrassing rice and beans politics... |
Pastors are humans too.. and no matter how good a person is, he must have enemies who want to hurt him... If a pastor can afford bodyguards, I see nothing wrong with that except of course the fact that some NIgerian pastors misuse their right to guards and use these thugs to harrass law abiding citizens... I have heard cases of pastor's bodyguard beating up an individual who tried to overtake a convoy ![]() ..And yes, it is biblical, when Apostle Paul's life was threatened, he had 200 soldiers , 70 horsemen and 200 spear men to protect him from 40 men.. Remember, heaven helps those who help themselves. A person who can afford security guards but rather moves around without security in a volatile environment expecting God's angels to protect him, that will amount to testing God... OYO |
DTaj: This is the most odious post I have read in a loooong while! Is bomb comparable to fireworks/ 'banger’? Have you spoken to Kaduna residents who actually saw Buhari's three cars before and after the blast? My friend you cannot convince Jonathanians.. A basic requirement to be a full supporter and defender of Jonathan is that you have to firstly put aside all forms and appearances of common sense and logical reasoning. Unfortunately, Jonathanians erroneously think they are doin GEJ a favour, little do they know that their actions and public arguments further cast GEJ in bad light and make the man appear to be even worse than he actually is.. I do not need much more than common sense to know that there are a multitude of people out there who would like to see Buhari dead; GEJ doesn't even make the first list... Unfortunately, in the simple-mindedness of Nigerians, when there's an attempt at Buhari's life, the prime suspect has to be GEJ. Jonathanians in response to this simple-mindedness now feel the only way to defend their man is to sell a flimsy story that the General tried to kill himself to gain sympathy.. how silly! |
victord1st: Show me the picture of buhari inside the said vehicle or even anywhere at the scene.Stop being petty.. even if it was stage managed, asking for a picture of Buhari at the scene as a basis for ur argument is very petty... If he wasn't at the scene, or in the vehicle, it wouldn't have made the news |
koastar: One reason I believe the assassination attempt on Buhari was staged is that, he (Buhari) claimed the vehicle (laced with bomb) ramped into his convoy but no one died. The question is, how come those closest to the bomb who are in the convoy were not killed by it not even a serious injury but those who are far away got killed? If the car that ramped into Buhari's convoy was the one carrying the bomb then, those in his convoy should be the most hit.Are you aware there were 2 different bomb blasts at clearly different time intervals? Did you not see the picture of Buhari's convoy and damaged car by the side of the ripped car? Summary; Even if it was a staged assassination attempt, your logic is laughable |
simpleseyi: A tale of two presidents and two thieves.perfect comparison.. They scream that Buhari truncated a democracy in 1983 as if the word 'democracy' equates to 'good governance'.. We keep shouting democracy democracy as if the solution to our woes is democracy just like we've had in the last 15 years... Nigeria presently needs a Buhari to instill the fear of corruption in the hearts of men... unfortunately, the Buhari of the 80's may be too old now but we need a person with a similar spirit... |
nanizle: An ambassador-at-large is a diplomat of the highest rank or a minister who is accredited to represent his or her country internationally.Interesting discovery.. Just wondering what the duty of a foreign minister is ![]() Nigerian politics stinks |
With the rubbish we see in Nigeria everyday, especially the short sightedness and plain dumbness of the youths (so called leaders of tomorrow), it is only wise to say the solution Nigeria needs is a ruthless dictator with a genuine mind focused at sanitizing the system... I pray Nigeria gets a leader who will continue in the ways of the Buharis of the 1980's. Call it whatever you may want to call it; criminal, crude, animalistic, thuggish, undemocratic, backwards etc, the fact remains that we totally need leaders who would track down corrupt officials like rats wherever they try to hide in the world, that's exactly what Nigeria needs today... The failure in apprehending rats like Umaru Dikko and co in the 80's gave birth to the impunity and diabolic corruption we have in Nigeria today. Everybody now believes they can steal and either run away or bribe their way out, hence the downward spiral of the nation in the past decades... |
Too many Nigerians are just plain silly and by the day, even more Nigerian youths voluntarily join the silly bandwagon.. How did the news of a proposed privately owned residential development degenerate into an APC vs PDP and Igbo vs Yoruba battle?.. What is really wrong with Nigerians??... Some people think this is fun but little do they know that just like every other habit, it creeps into their brains like cancer and completely overcomes their entire sense of reasoning.. |
www.nairaland.com/attachments/1568752_img_1259037129309_jpeg_jpegcda483382e018fd91c41a82bdaebcbac Chaiii... Chaiii.. This is wicked... anyway I don't blame Amaechi, rather I blame the Op of this thread. Amaechi never said the project was completed. This thread is the handwork of one of these shameless online political pawns trying to deceive the public with hope that they could receive some pittance from politicians.. |

Now this is how China started... with their consistency, China now gives the rest of the developed world goose pimples.. A few good policies in place by our leaders and Nigeria will rise again... |
I remember when a woman named Veronica Ogbuagu effected a similar tsunami in Delta state under Ibori. 2 years afterwards, the number of students registering for waec/GCE doubled in bayelsa while the number registering in Delta state took a nose dive.. Oh Yes!.. the dumb proportion of delta students exiled themselves to bayelsa so they could cheat. It took only a single lady being a commissioner to change the story in the entire state.. This just gives an indication that Nigeria is still salvageable if only the right people can be appointed.. |
DoroMega: Here you go.lol... thanks |
