Nice concept... Kay now stealing the show from D'banj... he has been caged all these years |
Mr Aboki: Dino should go and swear that he has never benefitted from corruption in Nigeria.. guiddoti: Dont mind the guy, he is fighting for popularity and office. Lets Gej gives him one position u no go hear em voice again. A simple question for Nigerians like yourselves, If we don't mind this guy, who should we mind?... Should we keep waiting until Jesus comes before we do something about our nation? Remember, he is doing what no one dares to do. If u say he's simply poli-tricking, what about other politicians (past and present)?..why can't they also adopt this style of politics by exposing the rot in the system?... don't u think Nigeria would be better if just a few more politicians try to act like this man? |
Is Melaye Serious With His "Fight Against Corruption" ? The answer to this question can neither be a YES or a NO. The most important thing Nigerians need to look out for is if the ISSUES he raises are JUST or UNJUST or TRUE or FALSE. We live in a society which is crumbling at an alarming rate an no one seems to speak out. A lot of people are afraid of speaking out, a lot of people are scared of coming out to protest. We fear that if we speak out we will be arrested and victimized. We fear that if we protest we will be shot at by our trigger happy policemen. At the end, the nation has a perfect description in the Asa song, "There is fire on the mountain but nobody seems to be on the run." In the present state of our nation, ANYONE WHO IS ABLE TO COME OUT AND SPEAK UP SHOULD BE CELEBRATED AS A HERO. The only thing we should be mindful of is if the cause he fights is just or not. Everyone has a voice but there's no doubt that some have a louder voice than others. If I speak up against an injustice in Nigeria today, my voice will most definitely not be heard. If public figures (past or present leaders, celebrities, pastors or other ministers of religion) speak up, their voices would definitely be heard more that mine. Therefore we need these categories of people to be at the forefront of any revolution we pray for in our nation. In like manner, if I protest in Nigeria, I will most likely be shot at or arrested by the government. However, if the protest is led by a public figure, the police will be careful with their trigger. A typical example was when subsidy protesters were arrested in Abuja for 'disturbing public peace.' The protesters were quickly released for a very simple reason, a public figure (Dino) was involved in the protest. It is unfortunate that the only people whose voices can make an impact in Nigeria are already all tainted (or perceived to be tainted) with some form of corruption or misconduct but that is not to say we as Nigerians should then fold our arms and wait for a Saint or Jesus himself to come and speak for us. We must learn to use whatever we have to fight for what we need; we are left with no option but to fight fire with fire. I don't care about the personality of Dino Melaye, I don't care if he has impregnated 100 campus girls like some quarters would want to distract us with. All I care about is that there is something he has in his CV which is needed in Nigeria if we must move forward; if only Nigeria had about a hundred Dino Melayes. ![]() |
Yes I think the ring is important in proposals especially as it is the tradition these days. I however have a different concern... If a guy isn't sure of the EXACT type of ring his girl wants, is it okay to propose with a MAKESHIFT ring (anything which could signify a ring) and then later take her to the jeweler to select her dream ring?? |
rudedough: Must you tribalise everything? Dude get yourself a girl friend and stop being stu.pidly childish.Look very well, he wasn't being tribal... read through that post again... |
haveworkskills: No, DSTV does not necessarily make that much. I once spoke with a guy who works there and he said despite Nigeria's advantageously huge population, very few people could afford DSTV at current subsription fees. I then suggested that the subscription fees be decreased by DSTV, so that the services would become more affordable to more Nigerians. Who knows if he has tabled this very simple suggestion before his bosses at the office. My friend I think u are speaking too many economics grammar.. Nigeria is an abnormal society and as such, all these indices you mentioned does not really apply. If you doubt me, go and ask MTN, ECONET and the other telecom companies and they would educate you better... |
theoctopus: Please shove your allegation of unfairness where it belongs. Nobody cares! It isnt anything new. The foolish APC party has never accepted any result except they win. They are shameless losersTypical Nigerian mentality.. exact reason why we shall remain a third world slum village... because the irregularity favours you therefore it is right and every other party that cries out is foolish?... ..even INEC who is struggling against powers that be to conduct the election has accepted the exercise had some irregularities and has decided to conduct some polls tomorrow yet some morons come online and spew trash ![]() |
Sammiejokes: sometimes am dumbfounded by the way Nigerians reason, A friend of my who is in Kenya presently just told me how kenyans are more sophisticated than an average Nigerian. the comments here shows why the country is in a big mess, just imagine peoples thinking. There is allegation of unfairness in the election and nobody is really concerned to know if its true or not. Sometimes I don't even know my purpose in this country. Is this even a country? It is certainly not a country, it's a geographical spread filled up with pure breed retarrds ![]() Now on a more serious note, I keep saying that Nigerians love the abnormalities they experience everyday and are too scared to wake up one day to a sane society... else how can u explain that the same Nigerians who claim they want a change are openly praising an election filled with irregularities because it favours their candidate? ![]() |
benbazus: By accepting what the woman has said, I am simply trying not to lie to myself any longer; this is something we all know already... Nigeria has an embarrassingly high population of scammers (just visit university campuses in Benin, owerri and Lagos).. we may not be mentioned in those rankings of cybercrime countries but that is simply because most of our scams are on a relatively subsistence level compared to what is obtainable in other countries.. I still however maintain that Nigeria has the single largest population of scammers worldwide.. it is not just by chance that the name 'Nigeria' is always mentioned wherever scam is mentioned, neither is it because the rest of the world hates us so much..it is because, 4 out of 5 times a foreigner receives a suspicious email, it is usually traceable to Nigeria ...in terms of kidnapping, we are fast becoming the kidnapping capital of the world (just visit some states in the SS and the SE)... we will never solve any of our problems by living in denial of the issues |
benbazus: The first step towards solving a problem is accepting there is a problem.. the bolded statement above is part of the genesis of most of our problems... #my neighbor has no right to scold my kids #my brother/sister has no right to scold talk less of spanking my kids #school teachers have no right to punish my kids Fast-forward a couple of years and the kids turn into monsters. If Nigerians must live in the US or anywhere else, then the citizens of that country reserve the rights to criticize us especially when we misbehave. 70% of mail scams in the world today originate from Nigeria or Nigerians... Coming up with the argument that scammers also exist in other parts of the world is absolute rubbish.. we are talking of statistics here... when a single country makes up a huge percentage of scammers worldwide, we have no choice but to accept it when they label us scammers... we ought to be ashamed of ourselves and look inwards to solve our problems or redeem whatever image we still have instead of picking on those outsiders who are bold enough to criticize us.. ...and to address ur claim that Nigeria isn't in the top 20 in cybercrime, I suggest u do a little research and educate urself on the categories of cybercrime that report talks about |
lawbabs: What is offensive about it? It hurts us when other people tell us the truth. Why didnt they talk about Ghana like that. Can we deny any of the statements apart from the UNILAG tingy. U may say this is not a third world. But the features of a third world are present in this country. This morning, it was announced that 25 people were killed in fresh Boko Haram attack in Borno. Nobody said anything. It has become a norm. Abnormality thrives in this country. So what are we talking about.Nigerians are used to abnormality; we may claim we want change but that's a huge lie... truth is that we are happy with the abnormalities; we breathe abnormality, we eat abnormality, we drink abnormality, we sleep abnormality, infact we are too scared to loose our abnormality...hoping that one day the status-quo will favour us or our family members... Nigerians are more comfortable with insulting foreign messengers who are marveled and remind of our abnormalities.. Nigerians will also not fail to attack any Nigerian who also shouts out about our abnormalities (they accuse the person of also being a part of the rot and hence should shut up).. What Nigerians don't know is that no matter how hard we try to attack those who remind us of our woes, it doesnt change the fact that these issues exist... Every thing written in that article is a FACT... some dumbos will dwell on the UNILAG bit because their abnormality has temporarily switched off their ability to comprehend the use of hyperboles in emphasizing issues.. |
rexzqcom: Holly cow!!! What can i say? This is what has become of Nigeria. Though there is little exageration, the writer is not too far from the truth. our society is riddled with criminilities. Up from the so call leaders to the lower ones on the street. people dreams of getting rich without the thought of providing services to earn their keep. This mind set of something for nothing is killing our nation. wether we like it or not, this is our national credibility in th,e world. Other nations are raking their heads, spending sleepless night to create, invent, or discover things to elevate the human conditions, up lift, and improve living standards, thereby improving their own lots in life. No, nigerians want to lie, con, scan, steal, rob, and kidnap their ways to affleunce. we are not fooling anybody but ourselves. Though there are lots of men and women of reputible moral dignities among us, unfortunately, the empty vessels makes the loudest noise, thereby defining all of us. Something have to give. This nation has out lived its usefullness. It is a failed state. Big does not necessary equate great. The country need to be reconstituted to a smaller manageable parts. It's good to be defend ur country patriotically but unfortunately the truth is too difficult to conceal for too long... For how long can the few good ones amongst us continue to fight this lost battle of defending and upholding our non-existent integrity?? ... it is no news that we have a lot of bad seed in our nation.. and as empty vessels make the loudest noise, we are simply defined by the loudest sound our neighbors hear... U cant really blame the writer of the 'offensive' article and no matter how much we insult or try to gag these reporters, it doesn't change the truth which we all know.. |
Where then do we start? We can start by doing away with the touts inside the lobby. We can start by ensuring the air-conditioning systems work. We can look to make sure passengers are well-treated on arrival and departure. We always look at problems and immediately assume throwing money at them will solve them. I have since realised half the problems with Nigeria have nothing to do with money. Even with all the money in the world, our airports and our country will not work as long as we do not have people who care about excellence. Caring about excellence means knowing that Nigerians deserve the best all the time. When we reserve the rights citizens of other countries take for granted, upgrade such to privileges for our citizens, we will always miss the point of making things work. Nigerians deserve more but as long as we have people – including the President – dancing on national TV because a road contract has been awarded, we’d always have a situation where mediocrity will remain the norm. Would anyone say the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is the mess it is because of money? Nay. It is what it is because we are who we are. We have become a people accustomed to seeing nothing work. The bolded statement is soo true but a lot of Nigerians are so myopic to see this. MMIA is the only airport where I have to arrive up to 4 hours ahead of time or risk missing my flight. An airport where passengers for different flights are bundled into the same check-in queue and it always ends in chaos EVERYDAY... sometimes I wonder if the airport management are kindergarten pupils because a little bit of common sense will solve this issue and not money. The airport car park is another hell... it could take several hours just to drive out of the car park at night not ONLY because the roads within the premises are horrible but because the airport security bluntly refuses to control the traffic (I was told airport security somehow makes some money from the traffic gridlock, still can't figure out how they do that)... Nigeria is a shame and it's obvious most of these problems require just a little bit of common sense and not money. |
point5: I think 5-7m in Lagos main Land,,10-15m in Lagos Irland,,15-24million in Banana irland/Estate,,my profession is civil n constructn engr,,,I also kn much abt real estate managmnt..giv me a call if u need my service..08036642694 POINTThe OP said 'excluding cost of land' so I believe we are talking of just building materials and cost of labour; what other factors could be responsible for the clear difference in cost in the 3 locations you highlighted?? ...or could it be due to the different soils and required foundation types?... I would have thought the soil in Lagos Island would be similar to that in banana island? |
Goalkeepers: Buffon (Juventus), Marchetti (Lazio), Sirigu (Paris Saint Germain); ![]() Naija boys too much |
theoctopus: Buhari cannot make a good president. He was there before and failed. He was woeful and clueless! He was also pushing an islamic agenda! He is a bigot and can never changeCan u please elaborate on the bolded part of ur statement?.. I've always heard this statement since Buhari started contesting against PDP but no one seems to come up with tangible backup stories. |
Living Soul34: What is there to discover... Buhari served as head of states, governor, minister, ptf c/man etc in this country and if nobody can come out with any case of corruption against him on those platforms then you guys better shut your mouths and appreciate the man because he got no equal as far as integrity is concerned in Nigerian politics... For me the only person that comes close to Buhari in Nigerian politics in terms of integrity is Chief Audu Ogbeh... That Buhari is in the same party with people that were once accused of corruption is not enough reason for anybody to dance around because if he is waiting to associate with people of his kind alone he may not find up 50 of such men among active politicians in Nigeria and by implication there is no way somebody like him would have the opportunity to be in the helm of affairs to do the right thing because politics is a game of number.... Moreover, its we need to understand that what you do with power is more important than how you get to power... The only problem i have with Buhari is his age and may be religious fanaticism. This post says it all... Buhari has always been the major opposition since the Nigerian democracy days.. He's always presented a 'corruption free CV' as his main (only) selling point.... If he truly was corrupt as some people claim, the PDP in the last 10 years should have been able to dig out some dirt on him.. When I opened this thread, I expected to read about some real scandal at least for once... but instead all they can do is attack the integrity of the people around him... No man is an Island and there is no way anyone can get to the top in the Nigeria of today by surrounding himself only with people of impeccable character. Buhari would have made a good president but I'm not comfortable with his age too... Furthermore, with the sharp ethnic and religious divide in Nigeria today, I doubt the possibility of a Buhari presidency. |
idupaul: And who told him he is an excellent Central Banker? Sanusi is another example of how an empty barrel can hoodwink the whole nation that it is full by making a lot of noise .Empty barrel?.. Can u explain to us your own definition of full barrel?... |
Olugbenger: So you mean we should not blame the Government for bad roads but we confront the average Nigerian commercial driver who is described as a weed smoker or drunkard according to ur silly statements.I think you are the one who needs to be asked the bolded question which u just asked me... Did u read anywhere in my statement where I said the government shouldn't be blamed?? All I simply said was that bad driving is the greatest culprit in road accidents in Nigeria, closely followed by bad roads.. It is then left to whoever is responsible to tackle these issues |
Olugbenger: pls which over speeding are they talking about?I totally disagree with ur assertion above.. The FRSC is right on this one... Overspeeding and grossly irresponsible driving is the primary cause of 80% of the accidents in Nigeria... Is it not in Nigeria u see commercial drivers making a trip from lagos to abuja and back the same day (speed must be involved)?? Is it not in Nigeria u see drivers drinking kai kai before a journey to 'clear their eyes' (talk of foolishness)?? Is it not in Nigeria u see drivers increasing their speed to 'fly' across potholes?? Is it not in Nigeria that even a dead goat can secure a driving license?? Is it not in Nigeria that vehicles cruise at over 140km/hr?... do we even have a highway speed limit in the country??... even if we do, our leaders are the first to break the rules. If the roads are riddled with potholes, a sensible driver should slow down... but the opposite is the case in Nigeria.. u see vehicles cruising at over 140km/hr on pothole riddled roads, dangerous bridges and bends etc (no reasonable country allows up to that speed on its highways)... when disaster occurs, every one screams 'bad road'.. I beg to differ, the culprit is bad driving... unfortunately the bad drivers put every other driver at risk and everyone becomes a victim.. |
WHIZBRO: What has smoking Marijuana or not believing in Marriage got to do with expressing your opinion as a Nigerian?Dont mind the reetard... when dumb people have nothing to contribute in an argument, they tend to focus energy on irrelevance |
Peter Obi made donation of N2million to the Reverend Father. The Father rejected it and ask him to give that to the poor whom he have starved for years. Didnt know we still had this type of pastors in Nigeria |
torkaka: “He went to the IMT, got some students and had a deal with them. The students didn’t even know why they were at the airport, neither could their supposed leader say the platform under which they were protesting. From the onset, any right thinking adult Nigerian would know this was exactly the case |
pharmow: Astonishingly beautifulStory story, stooory... KILL DEM ALL!! ![]() |
arsenalwenger: I wont lose sleep as long as source of the info are punch, sahara reporters or premiumtimes. These media houses have proven to be shameless\unprofessional for the past few days in sham journalism. The rants of another morally decayed partisan Nigerian youth who sells his conscience, his future and the future of his unborn kids for a plate of beans and plantain... unfortunately Nigeria (and Africa at large) is where it is today because your type abounds... #SMH |
Sometimes I wonder, "will Stella not be replaced by another Igbo person even from the same state if she is sacked??... Why is the issue of switching one Igbo minister with another Igbo minister becoming an inter-tribal battle??..... It doesn't take much more than common sense to understand that all the politics in this case is just by Stella to retain her post... It's unfortunate that a lot of not too smart individuals have fallen for her gimmicks.... Furthermore, for those that say its about the Enugu airport, the last time I checked GEJ is the one trying to fulfil his election promise by fixing the airports, I just wonder why these misguided Oduah apologists are trying hard to sell the farce that without Oduah, GEJ will abandon the airports... |
ladenz: My dear, if APC was really really offering anything new or different from what we have been seeing in the past 14 years, I assure you many Nigerians will support them. The truth is that its the same old people, the same old policies, the same old practices with a new name. You say APC has nothing to offer except a new name?... in the Nigerian case, a new name is a welcome development especially when u consider that PDP has absolutely nothing new to offer. |
ladenz: My dear, if APC was really really offering anything new or different from what we have been seeing in the past 14 years, I assure you many Nigerians will support them. The truth is that its the same old people, the same old policies, the same old practices with a new name.Yes APC is no different from PDP but the issue is, if APC and PDP are one and the same, why are most Nigerian so disturbed about the existence of APC??... I find it quite strange that lots of people now genuinely support PDP and if u ask them why, they would say, "APC and PDP are the same" |
naptu2: They certainly didn't act like people who deserve respect. We don't all have to agree. People are not robots. Differences of opinion are expected in a democracy. You settle matters by dialogue or at the polling booth, not by violence. ![]() I have always asked this same question to the die-hard proponents of a national dialogue. In the Nigeria we know as it is today, what would be the most likely outcome of a national dialogue??... Will it not eventually end in a brawl??... will a national dialogue build roads or equip schools??... can someone knowledgeable enough in these things please prove me wrong What we see happening in Edo state is just a tip of the icebeg ![]() |
vislabraye: Adams Oshiomole should be carefuL. I don't even trust his so called APC.Nigerians are such strange people... You dont trust APC which hasn't been tested but you trust and prefer the status-quo PDP which has ruined the nation for 14yrs?... Its strange that most Nigerians have embraced the principle of "the devil you know".... a lot of people genuinely want PDP to just rule forever without any change.. I really dont get it ... |
