Legacy Project! ![]() The way they come up with some of these fine names ![]() |
HNosegbe: So it cost almost $10billion to construct this plant in Nigeria, yet cost just about one-eighth of the amount for a similar-sized plant in Qatar? J12: Whats there to celebrate apart from the waste of scarce funds? The money wasted on this project will be used to build about five of the same capacity. NonsenseIf I'm right, the project was stalled severally by activities of militants. I think the site was even bombed several times and Chevron at a point almost withdrew from the project... We could rightly say the project effectively picked up only after the amnesty program in 2009/2010... Talk of the cost of doing business in a volatile environment; the only reason why chevron could continue with the project even at almost 1000% extra cost is because of the massive profits they know they would recoup in a few years of its operation. |
735i: The same mistakes we made in the '60's we are making again now.Going by the antecedents of NNPC and the Nigerian government, you should be rejoicing that this project was handled by a foreign company because if it were an NNPC project, for the next 30 years, it will perpetually be under construction with huge yearly budget allocations and of course another bait used by politicians to grab votes during elections... Even if by any stroke of luck it is completed and commissioned, instead of being a profit making venture, it will be another government liability company just like NEPA and NITEL and there would still be yearly budgets for its operation... If you are a Nigerian, you should know exactly what I'm talking about and you would pray our 4 national refineries (owned by NNPC) were owned by foreign companies. |
Politics aside, this is a very valid argument by APC. I see no reason why the coal mines cannot be revived in a state like Enugu which has no oil. Even if Nigeria as a country does not have the political will or ability (due to successive corrupt and clueless regimes) to develop coal power plants, I believe mined coal can be exported for income. |
tenzino: Yes! Back in Lagos, I have always had this news that IMO people takes good care of strangers. Especially those that don't come from their tribe. I have also had of how well their Governor treats the corpers in his state. That was why some weeks ago, when I was posted to IMO state, I never for a second taught of re-deploying. I accepted the posting with good faith.Hmmm.. I sense a trend here ... In the last few days, there have been several anti-Rochas threads springing up on nairaland... Most of these threads haven't really come up with any reasonable or convincing argument but I must say, this particular thread has to be the most ridiculous... ![]() @Op, were you sent to camp to go and see governor? |
EGTL at long last... this is very good news |
Not long ago, health practitioners and relatives of the ebola victims complained that the so called 1.9billion did not get to the ebola treatment centres and some self appointed govt defenders foolishly accused every media body which carried the news as being sponsored by APC. Now if this report by the health minister is true, then it's another exposure on the foolishness of some ordinary Nigerian individuals who have placed a burden upon themselves to defend the evils of the federal government even in situations when the FG does not need their services. |
Sometimes I wonder why it is difficult for people to simply call a spade 'a spade'... THE ONLY REASON MAJORITY OF IGBOS SUDDENLY HAVE A RABID HATE FOR ROCHAS IS BECAUSE HE JOINED APC... Enough of all the illogical arguments of him performing or not performing bla bla bla... If only Rochas' haters can be bold enough to just state this fact, then it will make life easy for everyone. |
lirusehn: yep only if they will give Jonathan to actualize his plans.Jonathan?... Which plans are we talking about? |
lincolnj88: All of you should stop being childish.....I visited china , xiuan....I was charged 180 naira for using other atms , I was charged 50 naira for using my own atms...in Uk 250naira is charged for using other atms while 100naira is charged for using ya atm.....Please how do you mean?... I dont get charged for using my debit card in any bank atm at all in the UK |
lol... the foolishness of men knows no bounds.. What's the difference between these followers and the ones who are made to bomb people in God's name? May God never let us fall into the kind of life's problems and storms that would make us go insane in our search for solutions.. |
Anything is possible, so I say Yes! Nigeria can be rid of corruption, but such a change can only be effected from the top of the triangle. Such a cultural change can only be kick-started if the person at the top is a stubborn and powerful person who hates corruption more than he hates his opposition.. |
skyrocketters: See more of the pictures and inner features of the jet below:I typically would not have clicked on the link to your Blog because of the unprofessional way you have chosen to redirect traffic but my 'church mind' just pushed me to do otherwise and the first sight greeting me is 'Air Bond' ![]() Bros abeg wetin be 'Air Bond'? ![]()

The Assembly accused Mr. Onyebuchi of operating a commercial poultry at his official residence and of disobeying Governor Chime, charges that, under the law, do not qualify as impeachment offences.C0ck and ..but finally just like the minister mentioned, "Agric is working in Nigeria" |
The number of private Jets in Nigeria jumped from 20 in 2007 to 150 in 2012 (only God knows what the figure would be now in 2014 when the likes of Tompolo and CAN president have only recently acquired their own toys). http://www.forbes.com/sites/mfonobongnsehe/2012/09/18/wealthy-nigerians-spend-a-reported-6-5-billion-on-private-jets/ In this day and age, with info like this flying around, anybody still wondering where the subsidy funds end up is self deluded |
Lol... This thread further indicts the man ![]() |
dontalk: So be it. As this post is a mere allegation, it's just a smear campaign, my conclusion . War against corruption should be holistic.Agreed!.. the war against corruption should be holistic... but I'm sorry, your suggestion that if it can't be holistic, then there should be no war at all is plain ridiculous. A lot of 'concerned' Nigerians maintain this same stance and it is shocking how so many people can clamour for such an impractical solution. Never have I seen or heard of a society where all its criminals were captured, judged and locked up at the same time.. What you wish for is IMPOSSIBLE and since a lot of Nigerians also clamour for this same impossibility, it is no surprise that we have about the largest (and ever increasing) population of past and present criminals still walking lose and even forming and joining political parties.. |
ephemm: Sorry Doctor, I am neither APC nor PDP, but I bet you are a Doctor and you are very angry atmFYI, I am not a doctor and I don't even have a doctor in my family. I am simply a concerned Nigerian who wishes to see a day where corruption charges (or even mere allegations) would be treated with utmost seriousness and not trivialized or outrightly dismissed based on perceived individual motives.. |
shizzle11: dont mind the hypocrites...fOOLS!I don't think you deserve a response but I would advice you go back and read my comments before you insult me.. |
dontalk: If only you can convict him then you can nail him...but your statements indirectly suggest that if all others can't be brought to book at the same time, then the single one caught should be given some slack |
Ela59: 50yrs is not too late for justice to prevail. But because of the type of political atmosphere we find ourselves. If idi amin is from your tribe/religion killing million from other tribe is justifiable .Yes it is not our fault that we were born into such a mad society but how does glorifying and perpetuating such dumb and backward |
ephemm: Doctor ObailalaIn Nigeria, if the president goofs and you complain, You must be APC (even if you are a foreigner, you must have been bought by APC) ![]() If fashola or tinubu goofs and you complain, then you must be PDP.. ![]() Now it is doctors vs FG. If you criticize the health minister (irrespective of what the criticism is about), you must be a doctor ![]() The childish mentality of Nigerian politics stinks... @ephemm: Not everyone is silly enough to play your petty games. Please leave me out of it |
dontalk: What a smear propaganda, Nigerians ? Only Prof Chukwu since 2008? Simply because he can't accede to 100% demand from NBA? Op, as a good historian, kindly also excavate & furnish us with accounts of political & non-political office holders since 2008 so we can compare them side by side.A simple question.. If it is not possible to excavate & furnish us with accounts of political & non-political office holders since 2008 as you suggest in your post, are you suggesting that the minister should therefore be TOLERATED and FORGIVEN and totally left of the hook (even if he's actually guilty)? |
rightym: I see aw few share ur view and de country is progressing. In summary, your argument is that he is being witch hunted or blackmailed by the sacked doctors or whoever and therefore even if he is guilty, he should be TOLERATED and FORGIVEN because the allegations against him has a political undertone. Sadly, a lot of Nigerians share your ideology and that is exactly why our leaders will continue to steal with impunity; they know their followers will definitely defend them even with the most ridiculous excuses. Unfortunately these ridiculous excuses do not seem ridiculous to most Nigerians. Several people on this thread have insinuated the same NMA blackmail and the basis of their argument being, "why is it now that they have decided to raise this issue?" Now my own ideology is simple, a thief is a thief and when a suspect is caught, the ONLY question that should be asked is "did he really steal or not." It shouldn't be the business of the law why the key witness decides to come forward with a statement only now. The political or religious or ethnic or economic reason responsible for the case being resurrected now should be inconsequential and the only thing which matters should be "did he really steal or not; that is how things work in developed nations.. There should be zero tolerance for corruption irrespective of individual affiliations |
ephemm: This is pure nonsense!!!You do not support corrupt practices but you can tolerate corruption?... What are you talking about?.. What I understand from your post above is that Nigerians should TOLERATE the man's filth because it was committed 6 years ago. Do you realise that those developed countries which you admire for being relatively free of corruption, it takes a certain level of decisiveness and intolerance to corruption for them to achieve their present status?... In developed countries people are punished for crimes they committed 30 years ago all because substantial evidence was only recently made available by someone (maybe a friend) who due to vendetta decides to spill the beans now.... The moment Nigerians learn to ask only important questions (did he committed the crime or not?) and overlook the underlying political/religious/ethnic reason why the witness decided to come forward, the better for our nation. |
rightym: Both OP and de suspended Doctors should go ve a life....and what if he is actually found to be a corrupt rogue?... Should he be allowed to continue LEADING YOU?... It is because a multitude of Nigerians share your disastrous ideology, that is why we can never move forward as a nation.. |
new2020: Yorubas are at it again. They attack Stella Oduah, Attack Oteh, attack Nkonjo Iweala, Diezani Madueke, and now? You people are just wasting your time. If he is removed, just as Stella Oduah, another Igbo person will replace him.U think by defending corruption based on ethnic origins it makes you a better/smarter person or nation or tribe?... It only makes you look like an ediot... and Nigeria is the way it is today because we have a multitude of your specie roaming about |
First of all, it can be argued that he wasn't indicted after investigations were concluded (this we all know would be the eventual outcome of this expose). Secondly it is not news that the entire public service in Nigeria reeks of corruption, so why should anyone be surprised at this expose. Thirdly, I see no need to raise up this dusted issue by whoever because going by the antecedents of GEJ (and other Nigeria leaders inclusive), it is not news that the man GEJ has an uncommon affinity for corrupt/indicted individuals and even if this case is revisited properly and it turns out the health minister is a corrupt rogue, I can bet my last dime (and even my life) that he would be personally defended by his amiable oga at the top.. Now being defended by his oga on top may not be my greatest concern. My greatest worry is that if there is a social media uproar based on this case, some myopic brothers of mine from the east would begin a counter online campaign in his support claiming he's being persecuted because he's from a certain region of the country... The sad thing is that these set of misguided individuals fail to realise that their relatives are the direct victims of such malpractices especially as it is the health sector. |
PhockPhockMan: Ok, true federalism, state police, additional state for South East, upward review of derivation etc.Okay I see... However if not for the inherent stomach politics practised all over Nigeria, I see no need for an addition state in the southeast. True federalism nullifies the need for an upward review of derivation. It also cancels the need for additional mushroom sized states (if only we can put aside our rice and beans politics)... There would also be no need for the state police clamour as this would almost automatically be solved by true federalism. |
fkaz: South west won't support illegality, the south west as always call for a SOVERIGNE NATIONAL CONFERENCE and not the charade president jona put together to deceived people like you. Were the delegate to national conference selected through referendum or elected by the people to represent them in the first place? Or you think for a northern, mallam waziri maina to move that all their talk in the conference is just a resolution and proposer to the same 1999 constitution that is the problem of nigeria and not a brand new constitution is a joke? They should just send their resolution to the National assembly as an amendment just like many other proposers that are still pending at the assembly. Is it the illegality of Jonathan in setting up the conference or is it the recommendations of the conference itself that is the problem of the southwest??.. Me thinks the recommendations of the conference are perfectly in line with the clamour of the southwest right from the onset, so why the opposition?... When will the SE, SS and SW every learn to dump their madness and understand that they need to unite if they must achieve any progress against the setback of the North? |
Bigcake: Very poor attempt at fraud. As poor as it may appear to be, there are still individuals out there who fall for such.. |
