akpanbaba: To nigerians Atiku is a good thief.
For sure he's a good thief... In a nation where all our leaders are thieves, we have no choice but to identify the good in a few of them.

If only our polithievtians past and present could invest their loot within the country, maybe our lost glory could be restored. I wept when I saw this picture below. Even though I do not fully agree with some of the figures, it's a shame we let all our glory fade away as a nation.

condralbede: GEJ is working.....APC is criticizing..... BH is bombing. No matter all thorns we shall get thr.Nice one Mr President.
In every sensible democracy, there is an important office which is called the OPPOSITION. APC occupies this important office today in our democracy. It is the duty of the opposition to criticize the ruling party and keep them on their toes. That is how a sensible/healthy democracy works.

Without the opposition, the ruling party would do whatever it likes, just like the OBJs and even Abachas of this world. The emergence of APC is the best thing that happened to Nigeria's democracy. I wonder why this simple model is too difficult for some individuals to understand.

The incompetence of Jonathan, just like cancer, has continued to spread to all public agencies and top public officials... It seems the only commodity the present Nigerian government knows how to manufacture and distribute evenly is 'blame.'

This is a very irresponsible statement by the person/organisation you would least expect... It doesn't require much more than common sense to know that when the government misbehaves and the masses protest, the opposition would typically key into the opportunity to sell themselves... It is however very unfortunate that an organisation such as the SSS would stoop so low as to completely label all protests as opposition politics...

I remember not too long ago, the exceptionally 'wise' Jonathan presidency woke up one morning and increased the price of petrol from N65 to N142, an increase of over 100%. As usual, the consequence of this 'wise' decision was that the price of goods and services nationwide jumped by 200% and Nigerians cried aloud and occupied the streets... Till date the 'wise' Jonathan still openly and confidently blames the opposition APC for sponsoring the #OccupyNigeria protests...

Now the SSS is also trying to tell us the opposition APC invited CNN, BBC, Aljazeera, Reuters etc to Nigeria to cover fake/sponsored protests... What kind of silly assumption is that??.. Probably it is the Iraqis or the Syrians or the Israelis etc that invited and sponsored these international media organisations to cover stories in their territories too??...

In summary I would have to say Jonathan is a very very influential man and I have totally lost confidence in the sanity of the SSS top echelon.

manny4life: How can she defend something she NEVER claimed? huh embarassed
..And who told you she did not claim to have an MBA??... you think SR just came out of the blue and manufactured a story that she has an MBA and then turn around to dispute the MBA?... If she did not claim to have an MBA, how come all the websites where her profile is described (Wiki, aviation ministry etc) are either being disabled or edited??

All I know is that there's no smoke without fire.. if the allegations were truly baseless, there wouldn't have been a need to disable or edit her online profile in the last 48 hours. Our leaders in Nigeria are all crooks, we don't need a soothsayer to tell us.
Politics › Re: St Paul's College President Denies Speaking To SaharaReporters by obailala(m): 6:01pm On Jan 09, 2014
manny4life: At least they are not hiding it, their phone no is public information, let SR deny the allegation that they spoke with the President or Registrar of the School and confirm their news.
From the way this story has unfolded, my common sense tells me that SR called the President or Registrar of the School to confirm if one Princess Stella Oduah graduated from their graduate school at a certain time. The school authority however declines the request but makes it known to SR that there is no way any person with such a name would bag a master's from their school because they don't have a graduate school. This was all the info SR needed to go to the press.

As for the jobless NLM folks who said they spent $2000 to hire a private investigator to simply ask the president of the school if SR spoke with him or not, they can tell that flimsy story to the birds

What has the sacking of Oduah and replacing her instantly with another Igbo woman got to do with the Igbo vs. Yoruba madness??

If GEJ does the honorable thing and relieves the controversial minister of her position, will she not still be replaced by another Igbo woman from the same state??... how on earth did this case become an Igbo vs. Yoruba case??.. Why are we so petty in Nigeria?

Some people argue that the removal of Oduah would affect the upgrade of Enugu airport. The last time I checked, the upgrade of our airports was part of GEJ's campaign promise so I wonder how people can be so shallow to think that Oduah is responsible for upgrading these airports. With or without Oduah, the Enugu airport will still be upgraded as long as GEJ is in power.

Lastly for those who feel the call for removal of Oduah is an assault on GEJ's administration, that has to be the silliest assumption ever. Removal of a controversial figure from his government would actually boost the public perception of his leadership..
just imagine all the hell this woman has been put through
just because she built an international airport in enugu.
well, we are watching
if they successfully remove her, she must be replace with a tougher igbo lady
someone who will even upgrade other airports in igboland to international airports
that is the minimal for us
anything less, we drop jona sharp sharp
Now at least some of the Oduah bootlickers are beginning to reason with their brain.... I have always wondered why some of these shallow minded individuals always think that the removal of a dubious character from government is an assault against Igbos especially when she will deffinitely still be replaced by another Igbo womaan.

Regarding the upgrade of Enugu airport, that was a part of GEJ's campaign promise, with or without Oduah, as long as GEJ remains in power, the airport will still be upgraded.. I just wonder where people got the idea from that it's Oduah's idea to upgrade our airports.

There are different effective ways to discipline children. I was spanked as a kid and I will spank my kids but I am not of the opinion that spanking is the most effective holy grail to instilling discipline.

Most people usually make the reference to 'oyibo' children being rude because they're not spanked but that is not completely true. There is a larger (unreported) percentage of unspanked 'oyibo' children who are respectful and grow up to be responsible individuals.. However in Africa with all the spanking and brutalizing as the case may be, we still have a large portion of children turning out to be drug addicts, runsgirls, yahooboys and common armed robbers..

A question I have always asked and I'm still waiting patiently for an answer, if Biafra is actualized today, how does it solve the issue of massive corruption and impunity which plagues the Nigerian society of today?? .. or are there no corrupt Nigeria officials who are of South-Eastern origin??... If Biafra is actualized today, is it not these same corrupt bunch that will still be leaders in Biafra??

Sometimes the proponents of Biafra make it look like creating a new nation state would automatically solve all our problems; but me thinks it would even lead to greater confusion within the region
Politics › Why Do You Love/hate GEJ?? by obailala(op): 2:49pm On Jan 01, 2014
GEJ has made history as the most loved and most hated Nigerian president ever. I don't think any Nigerian president can boast of the kind of fan base which GEJ has. However on the other hand, it appears that GEJ also has a rather large population of vocal haters more than any other Nigerian president.

People who love him do so for Some or all of the following reasons:
1. They feel he has performed greatly
2. He is from their tribe/zone/state/region
3. They feel he is a friend of their tribe/zone/state/region
4. They are tired of presidents of northern extraction
4. He is from a minority tribe and represents a change from the status-quo
5. He is gentle
6. He is being haunted by the powerful forces holding the country to ransom since independence

People who hate him do so for some or all of the following reasons:
1. He is not of their tribe/zone/state/region and RELIGION
2. He is weak and has not been able to assert full presidential authority after over 3 years
3. He is under-performing
4. Unlike past presidents who have at least paid lip service to the fight against corruption, GEJ has paid 'NO SERVICE' at all to this fight
5. His actions and inactions show that he is an avid supporter (and maybe a major stakeholder) of corruption

Most supporters/opponents of GEJ are usually reluctant to publicly state their reasons because it could come across as petty. As for me, I'm from the SE and I'm not pleased with the GEJ presidency because of his attitude to corruption..

A new year question for Nlanders, why do you love / hate GEJ??
Politics › Re: Mayday! Mayday!! "EFCC Is Broke"-Cant Pay Salaries by obailala(m): 2:55am On Jan 01, 2014
Since the government of the day isn't interested in fighting corruption, I see no reason why scarce resources should even be expended in running an agency in which the same government it works for would still turn around and frustrate its efforts at the end of the day

Music/Radio › Re: Satanic Music And Dance So Cherished By Christians In Nigeria. by obailala(m): 3:24pm On Dec 20, 2013
Question for the OP:

Please what is or what does a Godly dance step look like?

Most Christians these days instead of focusing on pertinent issues just go around trying to formulate laws that should be included into the bible.... Women shouldn't wear trouser, men shouldn't weave their hair bla bla bla.... very soon one prophet would soon say it is ungodly to speak pidgin in church.

Every culture has a peculiar dance style which is part of its identity... A person from a particular culture who wants to serve God will definitely dance in a way which is known to him/her and is in line with his/her culture and that will be accepted by God...

As far as I know, there is no such thing as heavenly dance and people should dance the way they know how. However, I quite agree that there are certain dances (erotic/seductive) which shouldn't be done in church.

Politics › Re: Imo State House Of Rep Members Kneeling Before Gov. Rochas (picture) by obailala(m): 12:25pm On Dec 19, 2013
Men kneeling down before Rochas could mean a lot of things but if only some Nigerians can cease from being partisan and apply a little common sense, it will be clear from the picture that Rochas did not ask those men to kneel down.

God knows what those men must have done to humiliate themselves in this way but I don't seem to understand why everyone assumes Rochas is the villian in this one even when we are all oblivious of the real story behind the picture...

I sometimes just wonder how politics in Nigeria erodes human reasoning and makes people think like toddlers.
