Bunsenbun:
You are being too harsh on them.I also had wondered why they do this until i found out that nigerians do not like the idea of "fixed price",imagine the number of people that will ask physical vendors the price of their goods even to the extent of bargaining rudely only to walk away,my mom was a legend at this, while little me would wonder why she would waste away a good 10 mins on such a thing.DM for price is a tactic to make sure only serious/interested buyers ask. This is good for goods whose actual value can't be determined at face value e.g shoes, belts, necklaces that are not from popular brands.
it is better to state Ur average price and then say DM me for further negotiations. Or say serious buyers should DM me for serious negotiation and possibly a slight discount

this is getting worrisome. I recommend we use the same vigour used by social media in pursuing wrongful arrests and police brutality to follow this case. Tag Nipost, tag EFCC, ICPC, police force......infact any official government social media handle should be tagged. Press release, petition national assembly etc. Nipost need to look into this ugly trend fast, before we are black listed. Everyone affected should go to Facebook and Twitter and start dragging Nipost. This things must stop.

Update From . COM

The Imo State Task Force did this to a poultry farmer for not having the state emblem on his car. Thousands of a day old chicks crushed, Reports.

Why are humans this wicked. Same people go to Church everyday.

You see why some people are barren for life? Generational curse await them. Don’t say it’s just chicks (animals). There are things you’ll do, nature will never forgive you.

Rivers State Task Force did similar thing. Where are they now? Disarmed and dismissed with nothing. Some have started begging on the streets.

NAWAO… there is God o!

I don't think so. I think there are birds that died due to stress, when the vehicle was confiscated.
I blame the driver fully.
If the taskforce confiscate Ur vehicle with live birds in it, they won't stop u from offloading the birds. They don't want that kind of gbese on their head. What most people do is to request the taskforce to allow them drive to a condusive place, either close by or in the premises of the taskforce, where the birds can be offloaded and transferred to another vehicle. The officials will have to agree. But they can't accept a request to let u drive away to Ur own premises.

There was a time I wanted to be a pilot.
Then I wanted to be a soldier
At another point, I just wanted to be a hitman in the mafia.....like mark dagascos.
Then at another point, a doctor.
At another point, a livestock farmer (I am presently doing this one on the side)
At a point I also wanted to be a trailer and luxury bus driver.

But now, I am a professional accountant and a Polytechnic lecturer. And a poultry farmer

AgricultureRising Cost Of Day Old Broilers And The Way Forward by obstead200(op): 2:07pm On Sep 15, 2020
Any poultry farmer out there would attest to the fact that the greatest challenge facing the poultry industry right now is the astronomical rise in the cost of DOC broilers and pullets. These hatcheries hold us by the balls and are cashing out heavily on our misfortune. This is also coming at a time when the broiler market is heavily saturated and the demand for matured bird are lower, due to the economic condition. It is now very difficult, even as a small holder farmer, to make a profit of ₦300 per bird. When u pay ₦580 for a day old bird, and spend (using a best case scenario estimate) and average of ₦1100 to bring that bird to market size at 8 weeks, it is still quite difficult to get the market women to pay above ₦2000 for such bird. This is very disheartening and farmers, without knowing it are gradually eroding their capital and driving themselves out of business.
I think it is high time we farmers put on our thinking cap and start figuring out how to fight for ourselves and survive. I think farmers should come together in groups of 10 or less.........(People who can muster considerable funds) to pool resources and establish breeder (parent stock) farms and solar powered incubators. The main aim should not be to sell DOC but just to get enough chicks to stock their individual farms regularly.
I shud assume that a 1500 capacity parent stock farm can service 10 farmers of 700 broiler (x 2 pens) capacity each, if they take turns of 3 farmers per batch every week to take up the hatched eggs and stock their farm. That way, each of the 10 farmers is guaranteed a regular 3-weekly supply of DOC at a highly reduced cost. Any farmer that lack adequate capacity to take up and stock his quota of DOC is free to sell it off to outsiders.

I know a lot of expertise is required to run a breeder farm, but with the right network, and enough capacity that comes from the combined resources, everything is possible. To ensure fair play, the combining farmers can form a new company and draw up an iron clad agreement. Internal controls like web based CCTVs can also be installed and viewed by all partners from the comfort of their phones to monitor daily proceedings in the farms.

We need to rise to the challenge and fight these companies ripping us off in the name of DOCs.

Also note that I am female and igbo inheriting from my father and my brother knows this very well too so my family is not like that to begin with my own family is enlightened and supportive. What your wife chooses to do should with her brothers or inheritance should not even be your business .
I don't even know the point of this argument. Even if Ur father made a will and gave u a share, it is ok Na. But am pretty sure Ur brothers will have larger shares. And Ur father will never will his ancestral lands and building to u. Stop lying, he won't do it. He might give u a house he built elsewhere, or shares he bought in a company etc. But Ur brothers will still have a larger share.

But if Ur dad did not leave a will, then good luck fighting in a court of law. I know that following precedence, the court may want to rule in Ur favour. But I am sure u have been following election cases. Precedence could be easily ignored in deciding cases

Story,go and argue with the courts. What is so special about ancestral lands?
Ancestral land or not females should inherit.
Your take on the matter is not what the law says and cannot stand once such law is challenged.

20% assets my foot.
Anyway that will be in the will you choose to will to your daughters but without a will no court will tell you that 20% maximum is what should be inherited for daughters.
Like I said females must have an inheritance ancestral land or not.
anyway Goodluck in trying to change an age long culture. Abi u think say Na by court ruling only? How many of this cases even get to court?
My opinion is strictly based on the fact that unmarried women need to be provided for in their father's house, and also, married women whose husbands are not so bouyant need to be given a soft landing and a helping hand where necessary. That is why I suggested 20%.

If u like, 2mrw, come from Ur husband's house to come and fight for equal share of inheritance with your brothers. U will just end up ridiculing urself because nobody will support u. Even Ur husband, if he is Igbo, will no longer trust you.
To make matters worse, I bet u that the court ruling for u as a married woman will be significantly different from the above.......Na Nigeria we dey and sentiments are usually involved in cases like this....even at the supreme court level.

My wife happen to have parents with significant assets. I won't support her if she starts fighting for equal share of the asset with her brothers, even though the brothers are quite wayward.

This is wrong.
I believe women, whether single or married should, except where there are no sons, be allowed to Inherit a maximum of 20% of man's ACQUIRED assets.
But ancestral lands are ruled out please.......except in the rare condition that there are no sons...........in which case I think the woman inheriting such ancestral lands must accept to raise at least 2 of her own sons to bear her father's name and pass on the inheritance to them in due course. This is my take on the matter. SHE MUST NOT SELL THE LAND. SHE CAN ONLY HOLD IT IN TRUST FOR HER SONS WHO WILL BEAR HER FATHER'S NAME.

Excerpts :

Anthony Joshua's long-held dream of fighting in Africa could be aided by the rising threat of another Nigerian heavyweight who plans to knock him off his perch.

Efe Ajagba has already plotted how he would dethrone Joshua, whose pride for his African heritage is worn in the form of a tattoo on his arm.

"The people would support Joshua because he is the heavyweight champ," Ajagba tells Sky Sports but he is quickly establishing himself as a dangerous contender with vicious KO power who could become the perfect foil for Joshua to stage a fight against in Nigeria.

Joshua plans to fight Pulev in December

"Skill would beat Joshua, not power," said the undefeated Ajagba. "Me and Joshua both have the power. But skills control the power.

"I have more skills."

"I don't think so," Ajagba says. "The best weapon of Joshua's is the left hook and right uppercut. He doesn't have a good jab.

More on this storyWhyte's instructions - 'Povetkin nearly done!'AJ: Fury's claims 'don’t add up'

"I respect him. He is the heavyweight champion. I respect everything about him - his talent and his potential. He is a humble guy.

"People are saying that I talk Joshua down. But I don't want to do that.

"Joshua is from Nigeria so he is a part of Africa, too."

Joshua was inspired to reclaim his IBF, WBA and WBO titles from Andy Ruiz Jr last year after a trip to the Makoko slum in Nigeria, the African nation where his parents are from.

"They told me: 'Make sure you go get those belts back'," Joshua told Sky Sports at the time. "That is massively inspiring."

He hopes to one day emulate Muhammad Ali by fighting in Africa but it is logistically difficult despite the clear interest. Ali beat George Foreman in 'the Rumble in the Jungle' in Zaire in 1974.

The emergence of a challenger like Ajagba can only benefit Joshua's dream.

"Absolutely in the future," Ajagba says of facing Joshua on African soil. "It would be perfect. Two Nigerian warriors fighting in a title fight."

Heavyweight prospects are defined by their power but Ajagba, more than most, is carving out a reputation as a wrecking ball.

He is unbeaten in 13 and the only opponent to go the distance was Ali Eren Demirezen. That fight was Ajagba's hardest examination so far - Demirezen had a better record, unbeaten in 10, before they met.

Curiously he plays down his knockout power insisting it is nothing special.

"I don't think so. It's not about me," he says. "It's about the way I throw my punch and how my opponent feels it.

"It's not about power. Power comes from how you throw the punch, and how you land the punch. Move your legs into the punch, that's where the power is."

Ajagba is the youngest son of a boxer who initially discouraged him from following the same path. But trouble became too easy to find for a young and feisty Ajagba.

"I discovered boxing in Nigeria. I would fight on the streets and I always won," he says. "So I started boxing.

"Fighting on the streets is different to boxing. I had natural power. I wasn't fighting a boxer, I would fight bodybuilders. I wasn't a boxer, he wasn't a boxer. So I hit them, they fell. Boxing is different because fighters train everyday to get in the ring."

At first he did not enjoy the discipline that came with boxing.

"No, not immediately. I had to take my time and think about it.

"When I started boxing they taught me foundations - how to move my legs, how to throw combinations."

Image:Ajagba is now promoted by Top Rank

He was Nigeria's only boxing representative at the 2016 Olympics and was eliminated by Ivan Dychko of Kazakhstan, who is now 9-0 as a pro but with none of the clamour attached to Ajagba's rise.

He was scouted at the Olympics and brought to Houston, Texas, a city with a large Nigerian immigrant population to base his professional career.

Was it a hard transition?

"Not really. The environment is very different. I saw a different life when I came to America, a different community.

"The environment in America is beautiful. Nigeria is beautiful too, but America is a different culture."

He worked with Ronnie Shields, who had previously trained Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, and the opponents soon began to fall. Seven of his first eight fights were finished in a single round.

One of those remains among the strangest results in boxing history, although Ajagba does not find it funny.

His 2018 win against Curtis Harper was officially clocked at one second. The opening bell rang, Harper calmly exited the ring and walked backstage, never to be seen again.

The clip went viral, viewed millions of times in the days afterwards. It emerged Harper was protesting against his own promoter.

"I was mad and confused," Ajagba says. "I didn't know what was going on. Why did he walk out of the ring?

"I didn't see him after the fight. But before the weigh-in, his girlfriend came to me and said: 'Are you fighting Curtis Harper?'

"I didn't know why she was asking me questions.

"She said: 'You have the talent, you have the skills'.

"She came to me to ask me to take it easy in the fight!

"I can't do that.

"Why did she ask me to take it easy?

"So when Curtis Harper walked out of the ring, I was mad and confused."

Image:Ajagba has built a 13-0 record based in the USA

The next stage of Ajagba's development will be promoted by Bob Arum's Top Rank. He has changed trainers to Kay Koroma, who also works with Shakur Stevenson and Jarrett Hurd, meaning he will be based out of Virginia.

Aged just 26 and with all of his fights coming in the USA, he is still a prospect being carefully managed through the heavyweight division.

There are issues to iron out - last December he was floored by Iago Kiladze, an opponent on a four-fight winless run, but recovered to avoid catastrophe. Earlier this year he needed nine rounds to get rid of Razvan Cojanu, who was beaten inside two rounds by Daniel Dubois.

Ajagba is hoping to make his Top Rank debut in September and promoter Bob Arum said: "He has immense physical tools and a great work ethic. I have the utmost confidence that we're looking at a future heavyweight champion."

The match will be so interesting,
They are both good boxers in their respective areas.
Still on still,
Anybody that wins,
Still on still,
UP NIGERIA, that is d koko!
after reading this history, all I can tell Efe Ajagba is "Egungun be careful Na express u dey go".

In any case, the prospect of a fight between them is still remote for now. He would have to win more fights and gain far more reputation than he already has right now. Boxing is big business and heavyweight category is the biggest of them. No promoter will want to bankroll a fight that won't spin significant cash, both for the fighters and for the business. Right now an AJ and Efe match won't command so much respect or patronage. Maybe later on, when Efe is much more popular and have achieved like 20 unbeaten record, then his promoters can start hyping him up for an AJ match.

Frankly, I think he stands a (slim) chance against AJ
