Car Talk › Re: How Often Do You Use Your Hand Brake? by obstead200(m): 2:34pm On May 10, 2017 |
greenhulk: LOL, I use my handbrake whenever I park my car. In fact I engage handbrake before putting the car to park. That way it saves the transmission from damaging when u park on a sloppy road. Have u ever wondered why it becomes difficult to get ur car out of park whenever u park on a slope? That's because the gear is resting downwards the slope and it can damage ur transmission whenever u force ur car out of park. But when u engage handbrake before going into park, the brakes are preventing the car from moving down the sloap rather than being stopped by the transmission, so when u want to get out of park it becomes easy. Try it and u will know ur handbrake is not for fashion.
Also handbrake is useful when u are parked very close to another car on a slope and u need to reverse. Once u put ur car to reverse and move ur leg from brake to throttle, if u are not careful u might hit the car in front of u before the car moves backwards. But with handbrake engaged, just put the car in reverse, floor the throttle and release the handbrake... That way the car won't move forward an inch before going into reverse. On point. I do the bolded too always |

makingmy: Why are Nigerians so full of negativity. Why are you so quick to write the boy off as nonsense. A normal person would at least watch and see the outcome. You are just full of hate which reflects Your Own insecurities. It's sad that the way people make up for their failings is by lashing out at those with success. which success ?? Just take note of the OP and that young man's social media handle. Watch their space and follow all sister accounts they have on social media. Very soon, u will see them pointing to this 200million story and asking u to bring money and invest in their ponzi scheme, telling u that this 200million is a guarantee that even if u invest 1million, they will pay u 5million in 2 weeks. When u give them ur money, then u will understand u are the real mugu |

Meanwhile, FTC did u even understand the story? I doubt it. Technically, what the man did was not really a crime. He did not hack any network. He only wanted to extend coverage from a jamb accredited centre to other points that are not accredited, but with the intention that all their registration will still go thru the router installed at the jamb accredited centre. It is just like creating branch offices from a main office. It is not a crime, just that it is against jamb regulations. Anyway, jamb has been very stupid this year so far. |

Education › Re: Covenant University Suspends Final Year Students For Missing Easter Programme by obstead200(m): 7:55pm On Apr 25, 2017 |
himee: Covenant University is as it again and this time I am not keeping calm!
Please how can a school suspend final year students for not attending "Easter Youth Alive" program" for ONE year Where is that done? Is it on their curriculum? How many units does this program carry?
These students have barley two(2) or three (3) months to go before project defense and graduation, have exams coming up this week and the school wakes up and decides to suspend them for one (1) year? And what happens to the fees paid for the year? In this economic recession, parents should cough out close to a Million Naira again to pay fees
How many "churchy" schools have ever done this? None! Its only Covenant University! Is there no better punishment to give to these students than suspension for a WHOLE YEAR What culture are you trying to imbibe into these students? When they are suspended, will they go home and become better people? What are the lecturers and counselors in the school for? What are the various Bible studies or programs in the school for? Are they organized for just believers? Who did the church come for? Who did Jesus come for? Isn't it the sinners? What if after every sin we commit, our Almighty Father in Heaven decides to suspend us from this earth, where will we all be?
I should believe parents who take their children to such schools do so not just for academic purposes, but also for the spiritual aspect. Isn't that why they have a course titled "The Total Man?" Or what other reason is this course for, if not to build all students, particularly the erring ones to become better people? If not so, they should please enlighten us.
I think this time around, Covenant University has gone over board!
We will not keep silent again.
Please and please, we would appreciate if this is published. We have had enough of this!
LIAR!!!!
Covenant university has a very strong name to protect. They can't do this rubbish. I am 150% sure that student was suspended for other more grievous offences |

Career › Re: 5 Reasons Why You Should Write ICAN Instead Of ACCA by obstead200(m): 7:05pm On Apr 16, 2017 |
optimusmind: There have been much discussion on which professional qualifications a person seeking a career path in accounting and finance should have. While the ACCA is an international body with more recognition, there are certain reasons while one may chose to write ICAN over ACCA. I hope to shed some light why it may be better to write ICAN instead ACCA.
1. Cost of examination. The ACCA exams has always been more expensive than the ICAN exams, however with the recent increase in Dollars against naira, the fee is even higher than ever. Currently the average price per course is £80 oughly N35000 and you may have to write up-to 3 courses per diet if you want to finish on time. ICAN, the maximum you'd ever pay is N70,000 and that is for the maximum number of courses ( 6 courses),other times you'd pay N40,000 to N55000 for all your courses. So if you have a slim budget, it may be in your advantage to write the ICAN exams.
2. Availability of Resources For the ACCA exams, the resources at your disposal is someworth limited. Firstly, only few tuition houses are accredited to prepare students for the exams. Also, the study material has to be purchased online and paid for in pounds, another additional cost. For ICAN however, the resources needed are readily available online and offline. And there are a lot of books for purchase to make studies easier.
3. Statutory recognition. In Nigeria presently, only ICAN and ANAN has been given the charter to audit reports. So despite having the ACCA qualification, you still cannot sign and approve financial statements unless you are a member of ICAN, which would mean you coming back to write the ICAN exams. I know there are a lot of exemptions. However, isn't it double cost if you still come back and pay for the same ICAN exams again? The basic advantage of ACCA is the recognition in the private sector. But in term of statutory audit, or even public sector, you still need ICAN to climb higher
4. Easier to pass It is generally easier to sit for and pass ICAN. It is common to see individuals who seat for the ICAN exams and pass every thing in one sitting. Truth be told, ACCA is setting the standard which ICAN follow. So if your goal is to become a chartered accountant as soon as possible with lesser stress you are better of writing ICAN instead of ACCA.
5. Patriotism We always complain our county is bad and not progressing, yet we constantly leave our home made things and go for foreign ones. These two bodies are serving the same purpose. Therefore, there's no need leaving the one of our mother land for preference for a foreign body. It pays to be patriotic and promote the affairs of our own country.
Conclusion With the harmonization of accounting standard and Nigeria adopting IFRS, there is no difference between the two bodies. Basically they have Very similar course outline cutting through virtually the same area. The gap between the two bodies have greatly been closed. Also, ICAN is an international qualification and recognized in a lot of other countries.
Good luck in your career This is the biggest bullshit I have read online in a long time. ICAN easier to pass ? What nonsense!!! The OP shud not compare his mediocre self to other pple. Both ICAN and ACCA are not easy to pass. If u are not very very very prepared and very determined, u are going no where. I have ICAN, but if I have the funds to spare, I will jump on an opportunity to write ACCA. The only thing that makes sense in this writeup is that ACCA is expensive. That's all. Every other submission here is pure rubbish. |
Agriculture › Re: Xmas Broiler Broading In Pictures by obstead200(m): 12:25am On Apr 15, 2017 |
Turks: Mr Neo.
Well said. Your emphasis on stampede is what I don't understand. What's the number one cause of stampede?
Lighting; among other things.
If a brood isn't well heated, the birds would cluster in order to generate body heat thereby trampling on the weak/smaller ones. A window can be left open during brooding if the temperature of the brooder is just right. The opened window won't have any negative effect on the chicks, it'll help regulate the temperature as well keep the brooder oxygenated.
I've visited AMO farms and majority of their brooding pens are automated. Very little human input. You can't compare an automated environment with the 'backyard poultry' we run out here. They brood in ten of thousands. from my experience, DOC don't need heat that much after the 1st 7 days. I do open my brooding house during the day after the first 7 days and shut it at night. The primary cause of stampede is poor lighting, NOT COLD. However an ideal brooding house shud be designed to ALWAYS let in snipets of air (maybe even WIND) at a level above the height of the chicks, preferably at the roof level. This is aside from Windows that can remain closed for the first 7 to 10 days and then opened for some hours during the day from the 10th to 21st days |
