I bought 150 day old broiler chicks from Farmwell outlet aka Treasure chicks, two weeks later I bought another 350 day old broilers from the same source. at over 8 weeks now the 150 set still looks like 3 weeks old and the 350 set looks like 2 weeks old at 6 weeks.

when I went to their office to complain I discovered that I was not the only one as other farmers too were equally complaining. aside from the stunted growth, the mortality rate is also very high. The staff there prescribed different drugs/vaccines but still no changes.

I'm an agriculture graduate. I have been keeping broilers for over 5 years now. I always sell my birds off at 6 - 8 weeks at an average weight of 3.3kg. But with these two sets of broilers, I don't know when they will reach market weight.

I need urgent help considering the fact that a bag of feed is about #3,550 and they consumer more than 3 bags per day

Am really surprised that birds of that small size can consume 3bags a day. Abeg check well and know what is really happening to ur feed.
Also, I shud expect that with ur wealth of experience, 5 years as u say, u shud have known that u don't just buy DOC from any hatchery. Buy from only trusted and reputable hatcheries that have the funds and the personnel to develop and manage super quality parent stock and aalso have a name to protect at all cost.

If that drawer was made of the standard wood that drawers like that are made of, the saving twin would not have been in any condition to save himself, talk less of his twin bro, because when the drawer tripped over, it landed squarely on his legs, while the less fortunate twin would most certainly have had his neck snapped since his head was in one of the drawer compartments when it keeled over , since the fall would have made that compartment forcefully shut thus snapping his neck or gravely injuring him.... even if by some chance, the compartment doesn't shut during the tripping, the wooden front of the compartment is enough to inflict enough injury to the toddler...

My point.... Yes the kids tripped and fell...but I doubt they were under any serious treat of injury

Maybe u were never a kid yourself. U just found urself as an adult.
As a kid, it has happened to me while climbing cupboards. And it was made of wood. Secondly, as an adult, I have had to rescue kids from similar situations.

From all observations I have seen that this is what so many people are not comfortable about and so I have decided not to go ahead with it anymore for the sake of being labeled as a scammer for no reason.

However, in regards to the cost of sending it which you stated I didn't include, that was because it was not possible to fix a cost being that I can't charge the same price for someone who needs it in one state closer to me with another in somewhere farther. This was to be determined by the location of the person but either way, I am not offering this service anymore.

And lastly, in regards to the person saying that I was avoiding someone that wants to pick up from me, I believe I never stated anything that stated I was a dealer of the said rice. So please kindly read my post properly. I was only trying to help those that wanted it but couldn't get to it. That meant I was charging the N500 to help go through the stress of getting it, actually because I have a link inside that I would be able to make it easier to get it. This doesn't really matter anymore because like I have stated already, I have backed out of doing this service to avoid being tagged as a scam.

Before u reach where u will store them, u will see pple to buy it from u at 2k extra. That will give u 200k sharp profit. Assuming the person that borrowed u money takes 50k for using his money for a few hours, u still have 150k to use in buying more rice to resell

I have not lost any of them. Not even one.
Moreover, I noticed that twisted neck when they were less than 2 weeks old.

the problem is the investigation.
Most of these investigations by outsiders to the system leave a lot of loopholes that the legal system can easily puncture and declare their findings invalid.

The only thing that sticks permanently is hard core indisputable evidence, carefully obtained by those very conversant with the system, the insiders.

I am not in anyway supporting the Randy lecturers. I am just stating what I observed based on the report. There is a good chance that the external investigators did a shoddy job. The lecturers will therefore stand a fighting chance of being reinstated by the courts. Too bad

my point is that investigations of this nature is best done internally by the school, and very discretely in order to obtain tangible admissible evidence.
It is not what the EFCC, the police, ministry of Education and all other groups of people (that do not know their left from their right about the basic facts related to the matter) should handle.
In such circumstances, the investigations usually end up with the (hired) investigators seeking out some scapegoats to hang, in order to hide their ignorance and also justify that they were effective in executing the job they were given. I have seen it play out several times.

I don't know how else to explain this to u. But trust me, If u work in a government agency, especially if u are close to the main stream corridors of power, u will definitely understand and appreciate how MDA politics and bureaucracy operate.

I work in a govt tertiary institution. And the management of my institution has had occasion to sack staff for sexual misconduct. So I know how it is done. Without hard, indisputable evidence, no one is sacking anyone.
Do u know the potential exposure which lecturers will face if the govt can just wake up and sack them based on what a student says?

I have supervised jamb several times. And each time, I weep for our students and youths. They don't know Jack. They don't even bother to study. It is that bad.

I still maintain that a lecturer will be f*cking scared of failing a student who deserves to pass. The possible repercussions are scary. Answer Scripts get re-marked all the time. Most lecturers also have enemies among their ranks that will never cover up for them. So a re-marking will likely expose the deed.

All these students that bribe and sleep with lecturers for grades are very stupid and dumb. Most of them are so lazy that they have no other choice. They can't study. They deserve to fail.
But that does not justify lecturers to take advantage of the rot and further corrupt the system.

Unless these lecturers were sacked for other reasons. Unless they were caught red handed and the evidence against them is very strong. Other than that, If they were sacked as an outcome of an investigation started because of a newspaper report, then all I can see here is the beginning of a very long, brutal and messy court case which the lecturers are bound to win.
U don't wake up and sack a federal civil servant so easily, based on hear say and rumours.

u can probably buy old layers (the nigerian version so called 1000 frozen chicken u bought) for around 1300.

This is hydroponic fodder made from sorghum (guinea corn). It is 6 days old and ready to be fed to pigs, cows, rabbits, goats, sheep, ram, horses e.t.c.
It can also be fed to poultry, but at the 4th day as this is @ the 6th day. This fodder was made from 1 kg sorghum and now weighs 6 to 7 kg.
Get trained on this and reduce your cost of production.

hmmm. interesting advice.
i will still try a few noilers next year anyway. I will try to minimise cost of feed by combining local materials as best as possible. i will track my costs and see what i get in 12 to 14 weeks.

Second picture below shows loss of feathers and I suspect low crude protein as being responsible as I used grower feed from vitalfeed and hybrid in the last two weeks.
I will boosting the meal with 15% roasted soyabeans to push the crude protein to about 20% today

Formula is this
48*15 (soybeans cp*percent of meal) + 15*85 (hybrid grower cp*percent of meal)
=720+1275/100
Average of 19.95 crude protein

After this I will use vitalfeed broiler finisher or broiler finisher concentrate for the remaining weeks

ONE QUESTION BRO:
what is the feed consumption of these birds? do they eat like broilers?
if so, why would u raise a bird for 14 weeks when u can attain similar results with broilers at 8 - 9 weeks.
what is the average weight of these birds right now?

U see bro, I'm following ur posts like crazy. I'm attracted to noilers based on what I heard that they can eat low quality feed and still do well, just that it might take them a little longer to reach market weight. I am planning to experiment on them next year. So your thread and that of kayo80 is trying to help me decide on the optimum trade-off between lower feed costs and longer rearing (and feeding) period.

so far, I do not see the logic in using the same grade of feed i would use for broilers to feed noilers. It will only make me spend more on feeding. am also considering the fact that a lot of people will want to down price is as local chicken. I would either need to sell by kg (low total sales value due to reduction in dressed weight) or sell at even lower prices to the middle men.

@op ,while carrying out due diligence on your new farm you still need to concern yourself with finding market for your birds, do not wait till the are mature before you start looking for market. with the number you have it will not do you any good to keep them for an extra day. you should look out for people that buy per kilogram,they usually can afford to buy large quantity at once.

but at the present cost of feed, u might not make profit by selling on per Kilogram basis.
