FamilyFamily Of 8, Friend Die In Sleep ... After Burial Of Mother by ochallo(op): 12:17pm On Jul 09, 2012
Grief and sorrow enveloped yesterday Umuakuru village in
Emekuku, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State following the mysterious death of nine members of a family whose bodies were discovered in their rooms early hours of the day.

The family had buried their 98-year-old mother, Mrs Felicia Njoku on Saturday, July 7 in their country home.

The deceased include Mr. Pascal Njoku, his wife Juliana and their five children, Ebere (first daughter), Ifunanya (second daughter), Chibueze (son) Jackline (third daughter) and Uchechi (last daughter).

Others, who also died along with the Njokus, were Mr. Njoku’s sister, Christina Uba (nee Njoku) and her friend Catherine who accompanied her to the burial.

A family relation who pleaded anonymity told Daily Sun that with the burial of their mother over and attendant funeral activities completed, the embattled family retired to bed late in the night but could not wake up the following day.

However, fingers were being pointed at a member of the family whom the source said had earlier threatened to deal with the late Njoku and his family over a lingering family problem. Not prepared to take chances over the threat, Njoku’s wife, Juliana reportedly compelled him to relocate herself and their children for safety, but her advice was ignored.

When Daily Sun visited the deceased’s residence, their corpses were yet to be taken to the mortuary as armed police and soldiers cordoned off the area to prevent possible breakdown of law and order as the youths from the area were sporting for action. An elderly man from the village told Daily Sun that the corpses would not be removed from the compound until certain rituals were performed to appease the gods of the land.

“We have never witnessed this kind of tragedy in our village. I am 90 years of age, this type of calamity had not happened before and something serious must be done to appease the gods.” Another source told Daily Sun that a pastor, who visited the family last Wednesday before the burial, suffered a spiritual attack and was unable to continue the prayer session.

A woman, who narrated her ordeal to Daily Sun also, said a day to the burial she defeacated in her dress unknowingly and was rushed to the hospital. Suspicion of the victims’ death from fumes of generating set was dismissed by eyewitness, who said the family had none.

PoliticsRe: Enugu Assembly Passes Bill Banning Okada by ochallo: 6:34pm On Jul 04, 2012
I look at Nigeria and laugh, every where in the world, motor bikes are used, even ones that are bigger and faster, yet no accidents, the accidents are because the roads are bad and small.

As for crime, people who are already inclined to crime would simply devise other means to forge ahead, it;s not the motorcycle that causes crime.

This is just like saying, you are placing a ban on internet usage because youths use the internet for fraud and pornography.

i have experienced an armed robbery once, and they didnt use bikes.

It is very clear, that the average nigerian thinks only about himself, if those fools in the senate knew that people actually send themselves to school using the money they make from Okada, and people feed their families with it, they would not make a stupid decision, like that.

okada riding is not a business, so what is? politics

if they know that people who their businesses have failed are now into okada riding, so what should those ones do, the next day.

before anyone makes such decison, you have to work with the NURTW, let the registered bikers submit their names and find ways of absorbing them into other crafts and professions, but no, people in the realm of power just make stupid decisions that make life difficult for others. when i was in Nigeria, i went to portharcourt and had to trek a whole street to my office, because they ban okada.

This would only increase the crime rate in Enugu. If the senate had any literate person, they would have known that. but they are all biggots rigged in.

God, I beginning to believe that there is actually a curse on Nigeria.

Music/RadioRe: Wizkid And Sarkodie Win At BET Awards by ochallo: 12:26pm On Jul 02, 2012
I dont know why Nigerians are so backward in their thinking, it takes you to come out of that Jungle and see the other side of life to know that things are not what they seem, the international act award was one category, later it was broken into africa and other parts of the world, because they realised that african artists would never win if they were competing with blacks like sade adu etc from the uk.

Now they want them to give them on stage and they should "perform" { which means they should dance to the song while shouting "come on", " lets go" etc}, this illiterates dont know that all award shows have pre award shows where a larger percentage of the awards are given , so that it doesnt end up being a 5 hours show from hell like the AMAAs, soundcity and all the dead bit award shows to ever originate from Nigeria.

Looking at general comments on Nairaland, i defintely see that Nigerians need a total brain overhauling.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Mainstreet Bank Sacks Over 650 Staff by ochallo: 12:51pm On Jun 26, 2012
faithin9ja: Until a bank crashes and all those who have deposits lose your money (like I did in the 90's when Pinnacle Bank and Crystal bank crashed)before we will realize that bankers jobs are not a God given right. If not for Sanusi, after Francis Atuche, et al had finished dealing with Bank PHB, the bank would have gone bankrupt and depositors would have lost all their savings. We would have been queuing up outside the bank struggling to get our money.

When CBN changed Bank PHB to Mainstreet Bank nobody rushed to remove their money, there was 'no run on the banks' compare that to the bank crash in Nigeria in the 90's or even the Northern Rock collapse in UK as recent as 2008. Despite all the insults we throw at Sanusi the nation still has confidence in the banks, because of his policies.

Mainstreet Bank cannot afford to have the same number of employees sitting around not adding to the net worth of the bank, better to lose 800 employees than for the whole bank to collapse.

People should wake up from their dream world and bigoted, myopic, uneducated opinions and face the truth. Sanusi has sanitized banking for the better.
what you have said is half truth, sanusi carried out a good intention in a very bad way. Who told you that people didnt go to these banks to collect their money, the customers of PHB and the customers of Mainstreet are not the same at all. The whole taking over was so public and terribly done , it has driven the banks to a much earlier death.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Mainstreet Bank Sacks Over 650 Staff by ochallo: 12:44pm On Jun 26, 2012
For the dummies that are applying to mainstreet bank, you would experience what people experience when they stand in the middle of the main street. All those banks that were taken over are going to crash, i know that because i have worked in a bank before, those banks were taken over and then the next thing that was done was to rebrand, spend money that they dont have to pay for renaming pretty much everything, from cars, to tellers to bank property. Since this banks have been taken over, they have not done any remarkable business strategy , they have not rolled out any cutting edge product, nothing, it simply means they are there to wind up the bank.
PoliticsRe: Reps Ask ECOWAS To Stop Deportation Of Nigerians From Ghana by ochallo: 9:03am On Jun 25, 2012
this was started by Nigeria, when it deported all those sweet Ghanaian buns sellers, they have been in this country for years and you have never heard of them stealing or being locked up in jail, yet they were deported because somebody's palm oil soaked buns was not selling like the Ghanaian ones, now they are retailing.
