Jobs/VacanciesRe: Are Engineers The Most Unemployed Graduates In This Country by ocheejemb: 4:42pm On Oct 12, 2013
splendidb20: I had a heated argument with someone on which field of study has the largest unemployed graduates despite the graduates making 2.1 & first class. The argument ended in disagreements and it also raised another issue of 'why engineering should be studied for 5yrs giving that it is a level 8 course'. I was of the opinion that it is engineering that has the highest number of unemployed, high ranking 2.1 and first class graduates. This conclusion is not baseless because I studied elect. engineering. And none of my course mates is with any GOOD job right now <service yr 2012/2013 batch A>. They mostly divert to programming. So, what is your own opinion? Also, your opinion on engineering being level 8 after five tough years of complex analysis
I graduated in 2009 and I all my classmates have very good jobs. From 3rds to 1sts.

PoliticsRe: Lagos, Oando Complete N3.2b Power Plant by ocheejemb: 11:30am On Oct 11, 2013
What is interesting however, is the cost of the 10MW Solar plant in Germany.

Labour must be cheaper in Nigeria, so we can argue that for almost that same price we can have 10MW Solar Plants in Nigeria, especailly as we have way more constant SUN in Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Lagos, Oando Complete N3.2b Power Plant by ocheejemb: 11:29am On Oct 11, 2013
I know nothing about costing for a power project. However, if it cost 10bn less the savings wont have come to any of our pockets. I am glad to hear of a project being completed rather than the typical rhetoric of 'Govermnent TO build stairway to heave', 'Govt signs MOU to predict date and time if rapture', etc.

If all 36 Govts and the FG had more stories of completions, we would be fine in this country!
PoliticsRe: Lagos-badagry Expressway To Be Closed On Sunday by ocheejemb: 11:15am On Oct 11, 2013
Goddex: At Ijebu-Ode, I see a huge flyover bridge running across the ever busy Shagamu - Ore expressway but that road was never shut to traffic neither was any adverts placed on national dailies. The LASG promised to deliver the Blue Rail almost two years ago and with the barrage of criticisms it is receiving now wants to cause an effect to give impression that it is top of the situation
Is a flyover the same thing as a pedestrian bridge?

Did you pass the road every single day to ensure that there was never any disruption?

LASG is doing things the right and proper way, as is done by any sensible government, to inform the populace of possible disruptions and you are here spewing ignorant nonsense!
PoliticsRe: Lagos-badagry Expressway To Be Closed On Sunday by ocheejemb: 11:13am On Oct 11, 2013
ba7man: You just feel like talking, abi?

Do you want cranes assembling large precast beams with traffic driving underneath them running the risk of one of the beams dropping and killing people below??..........Or people should all of a sudden drive into closed roads and the construction workers will have to constantly explain to commuters that they are installing pre-cast beamshuh

That is a large construction site and many things are going on at the same time.
I have hope in Nigeria when smart people like you speak up, Sir! The level of thinking some people on here display is very disheartening.
PoliticsRe: Lagos-badagry Expressway To Be Closed On Sunday by ocheejemb: 11:11am On Oct 11, 2013
olrotimi: How on earth is this happening in lagos, on a sunday morning for that mata when thousands of xtians wld b plying that route to & frm church? Pls dnt tel me sunday is the best day to cause minimal inconvenience to commuters. For a company as sophisticated as CECC, such projects are done at night with heavy beams of light giving sufficient illumination. This is nt good enough for us, Nigerians are treated as sc*mbags by these foreigners, its soo not good
Yes, Sunday morning is the worst time, what would be better is early Monday morning when everyone is going to work, since that is so much less important than going to church
PoliticsRe: Lagos-badagry Expressway To Be Closed On Sunday by ocheejemb: 11:10am On Oct 11, 2013
gregg2: Open yours eyes. Those Alausa noisemakers' intention is not about your safety. They don't care about your safety. If they do, let them lay pipes to provide you with safe pipeborne water but they would rather leave you at the mercy of unsafe MaiRuwa, shallow Wells and sachet water. Their aim is to as usual make noise about a train service that is shrouded in corruption. We have numerous pedestrian bridges and flyovers in Lagos, is that how expressways were shut down during their construction?
Its a 5 hour closure, would you rather they do not announce that they were closing the road and leave everyone to be stuck in traffic for > 5 hours? You people can be bitter and myopic.
PoliticsRe: Lagos-badagry Expressway To Be Closed On Sunday by ocheejemb: 11:08am On Oct 11, 2013
Goddex: This is just a publicity stunt by the LASG to give Nigerians impression that they are working. How on earth should installing precast beams for a pedestrian bridge amount to a closure of road with newspaper advertorials? Before now, how are the several beams for flyovers and pedestrian bridges litred all over Nigeria and expecially Lagos installed?
Dont be a hater. And if you are gonna be one dont be daft about it. The pedestrian bridges you see 'litred' all over Nigeria, could they possibly have been installed while there was a free flow of regular traffic?

I dont want to believe this is a true story but if it is the daughters deserve to die single for doing that to their own father. And to be honest, not getting married isnt the worst thing that could happen to them, so they should even be grateful that thats what karma has decided to do to them.

First of all, you should attend any of these top 100 unis and see what the difference is. You will agree that no Nigeriian Uni can make the list, and especially NEVER a public one at that. Just not possible

ProgrammingRe: Why Waste 4 Years On Computer Science In University? by ocheejemb: 4:39pm On Sep 09, 2013
meshybizzo: I think many people commenting here are forgetting so many things.

My answer to both is simple. They are both CORRECT! Computer science far goes beyond programming but also spending 4 good years (all things been constant e.g ASUU) in nigerian universities is sadly a long waste of time.
Well in that case one might as well not go to University to study anything at all in Nigeria, not just Computer Science. The best thing about Computer Science is that the information is out there for you to get and apply easier than most other science-like courses.

p.josh:
This is a conversation between my uncle and I.

Uncle: Josh, what course do you want 2 study.
Me: Computer Science
Uncle: Why
Me: Because I like it
Uncle: Do you know any programming language
Me: Yes, I know python and am still learning it.
Uncle: Who taught you?
Me: I learnt it by my self.
Uncle: Do not study com. Sci
Me: Why?
Uncle : Why waste 4 years in a Nigerian university studying Computer Science when you can learn it on your own or even register and learn it somewhere else.

Me: I will need the certificate when looking for work.

Uncle: Look, even if you want to learn computer science don't depend on your cert. When looking for work, you can work on your own.

To some extent, what he said is true. I advice other student not to take Computer Science as a course.
Sorry but your uncle is a block of cement. Why study medicine when you know how to do first aid? Why study engineering since you know how to do lego?

Son, if you already know how to programme in Python then you will sail through CS at Uni (hopefully).

Christianity EtcRe: A different View on COZA Sex Scandal by ocheejemb: 9:24pm On Aug 26, 2013
uken73: I'm not affiliated with COZA, neither do I know Ese, but I believe that in case Ese’s story about the COZA pastor is true, we should not make ourselves Judges over the matter. And meanwhile, there is this other interesting story I heard from a friend.

My friend was owed by a Pastor who obviously had the capacity to pay, but just won’t pay. He was advised to go and harass the Pastor at his Church during service; at least his member will pay if the Pastor does not bulge. But he said he can't try it, instead he will leave him to God. He particularly recounted an incidence where someone in the past had tried to humiliate a man of God in a similar fashion and God struck the man dead.

In the incidence, a member of a Church went back home and caught his Pastor sleeping with his wife. The Pastor had ran naked into a moveable wardrobe to hide. The man locked the wardrobe and called some boys to carry the wardrobe to church. A heavy crowd had gathered at the church to see and mock. The man opened the wardrobe, low and behold; there was the Pastor, naked as from birth. Immediately thunder struck the man dead and everyone fled. The Pastor went away unharmed.

The first two lines of a Hymn by William Cowper (1731-1800) say 'God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform'. The bible has something similar in Isaiah 55:8-9 (King James Version)
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Just leave him to God. It's non of your business.
Abeg dont talk rubbish here,,,the God me i serve does not go on personal vendetta on behalf of adulterous pastors. Rabid wolves in sheep clothing. With all the bad people roaming the world and causing evil, the God I serve in his infinite mercy and grace has not struck them down. The Pharisees and Romans that killed Jesus like a common criminal, God didn't strike them to death, it's the person who's wife Pastor is giving special deliverance, and taking to special levels of grace, on his marital bed, that God will strike down, for exposing him to his own church.

Thank God God isnt a human being
Christianity EtcRe: A different View on COZA Sex Scandal by ocheejemb: 9:20pm On Aug 26, 2013
A so called servant of God is a serial sexüal harraser and seducer of young ladies, no better than a politician or unethical boss. And we are supposed to fold hands and leave him to God, because they came and declared that they are servants of God. They are using your tithe money to knack in hotels in London, you are here quoting scripture.
Christianity EtcRe: A different View on COZA Sex Scandal by ocheejemb: 9:18pm On Aug 26, 2013
It is sad how some people will open the Bible and choose to interpret in the way that most benefit their case.

Some randy Pastor no one had heard of a few days ago is now a 'servant and prophet' of God in the same league as Moses and Eli. Hissssss..oshi
