Jobs/VacanciesRe: Are There Jobs In Uk ? by ogajim(m): 2:43pm On Feb 13, 2010
pafun:
Do recognise that I said that particular job was the last I did in UK. I had before this lived and worked in that country for almost five years and I know all tat is needed to be known about the citizens. It is not a bit like America believe me.
Like I posted earlier, I can't really speak for the UK despite regular visits but there are some things one can notice/see randomly to make you think how we can get so low in a foreign land.

Stereotypical attitudes are everywhere even here in the US but it is the level that catches folks' attention from time to time and place to place. I have friends that moved back after being hired by Nigerian companies and enjoy being there and contributing, we can't all be doing the same thing is my point. No matter what we do, we must never forget where we came from.
Christianity EtcRe: "Most Christians Infected With Prosperity Gospel" by ogajim(m): 2:09pm On Feb 13, 2010
Well said vivaladiva, some of these folks just don't get it. Conning a poor person to give up his/her last last dime in the name of "sowing" is plan wrong if not sinful. They want to believe what they're being fed about " time to sow and time to harvest".

Matthew 16:26

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Are There Jobs In Uk ? by ogajim(m): 2:44am On Feb 13, 2010
OP: One of the fundamental requirements of an immigrant is the ability to assimilate because it is wrong to expect your hosts to adapt to you instead of you adapting to their culture or way of life, that explains some of the issues you had with them. You are back in Nigeria now and doing well so no need for any lecture.

timaus: One of the benefits of a civilized (and even some uncivilized) cultures is the choice that's available to all, everyone can't be farmers or business men. With two Masters degrees you should know that some of have entrepreneurial impulses while others have technocratic impulses (Some folks sadly have neither) but I think you get my drift.

If there are Nigerians like that here, I haven't seen and maybe I do need to get out more but this place is not conducive for that, the women won't take it for one.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Are There Jobs In Uk ? by ogajim(m): 7:42pm On Feb 12, 2010
I don't know what to say, I visit UK and "see some things that makes me go hhhhmmmmm"

Some of those guys are really living off their wives and might be lazy to some extent because 2 years of no employment is enough to train for a whole new career.

There is some truth to both sides is my two cents (free) on this.

Bearshare:
would you be kind to read this, circumcision still exists but in a different form, burnt offering still exist but in a different form as well as tithing
The highlighted word was smuggled in there by you Mr. beashare (one of my spellcheck options want to call you 'timeshare' smiley)because I don't see burnt on Kunle's response. Circumcision exists today not as a requirement but as accepted practice and not for Justification which doesn't make those who refuse to do so condemned. Do you "worship" in the Temple in Jerusalem still? What does Jesus Christ dying on the Cross do for you? why do you not follow the Jews and maintain the Sabbath?

Dude! You have no walked in my shoes, I am old enough to know the expression as well but unless you know Adegbu "off camera" then I would think he meant what he said in the way he said it.

I don't think I accused him of "contributing to the delinquency" of the "bling-bling" preachers either but stating the obvious.
Christianity EtcRe: Christians Lets Discuss - The Law Of Seedtime And Harvest Time by ogajim(m): 4:59pm On Feb 12, 2010
Nuella, Adegbu,

Anytime some of you folks hear or read the word "GIVE" does it put your mind immediately on overdrive? MONEY to me is one of the LEAST and simplest things to give in the scheme of things, money is NOT everything to me (I can only speak for me), it is very EASY to outsource your giving but Salvation is not about making the easy choices if you ask me.

There are lots of us who proclaim Christianity but yet never offered to help an elderly neighbor shovel their driveway or run errands for them in the midst of the snow storm we have, it might be easier to order them food but don't you think they too might want to go out? That's an example (Before some folks aim RPGs at me wink)

Sowing comes in many shapes and forms and not just "put your money where your mouth is" undecided
Christianity EtcRe: Is This How We Plan To Root Out Religious Fundamentalism? Which Is Worse? by ogajim(m): 4:40pm On Feb 12, 2010
MyJoe, I couldn't have said it any better than you did, God bless you bro.

All these happened when the country had no "leader", as Dele Giwa once wrote "one innocent life taken in cold blood equals a million lives lost in a pogrom, " and i remember the title of that column "death of a namesake" written when Mopol shot and killed Dele Udoh (US based)who came to represent Nigeria in a tournament in 1981, (the kids don't remember this)

When will Nigeria get her act together?
CultureRe: Edo Colonized Yorubaland Not Vice Versa. by ogajim(m): 4:27pm On Feb 12, 2010
One thing you all need to know about EDO people is that they know their history to the last man. You need to come correct, Oduduwa sent his last son to Benin and he didn't talk until uttering "owomika" which Benin people translated to Eweka, check your history folks.

Mabell, at this stage of the game you are coming up with this? Come on now!
Christianity EtcRe: Pay House Rent Or Pay Tithe by ogajim(m): 9:00pm On Feb 09, 2010
Viaro, my point (since you avoided it or didn't get it) with the Haitian relief question is this:

Since it is not compulsory that our donations to the Haitian relief efforts go through the Red Cross,  it can't be compulsory either that our Christian GIVING be through a Church or Pastor, you can see a need in someone or a group of people and try your best to fulfill it. Just because others don't share your principle of giving doesn't make them anti this or anti that, we need to learn to control our emotions no matter the situation. Insults are for elementary school or even pre K kids who are still learning the ropes.

Confidence doesn't always equal conceit, in one of your quoted responses where I wrote in German that I was no kid, you replied calling me a kid in German, do I follow that up? No way Jose.

It might help to get testimony from those who tithe knowingly but I do understand it is not a democracy in here smiley

Olowo, you seem to be on your own here dude!

TrauGod, Your youth is showing but is not an offense, go deep young man and I could get you the ball. wink

, " Ema jeka gbagbe Jesu, ", Some folks around us need more than just money (which isn't everything unless one becomes GREEDY)

Remember not to "let your left hand know what your right hand is doing"

God bless.
Christianity EtcRe: Pay House Rent Or Pay Tithe by ogajim(m): 6:48pm On Feb 09, 2010
Viaro, you're acting very much like Mugabe now smiley

How could I have lied about the Red Cross question that you couldn't even comprehend? Let's do this again and see if your meds kick in enough for you to grasp the question, If someone decides to give to Haitian relief through a means other than the Red Cross, are they still giving to the cause?
Christianity EtcRe: Pay House Rent Or Pay Tithe by ogajim(m): 6:05pm On Feb 09, 2010
Viaro can keep his/her brand of Christianity, name calling out of PMS induced frustration is not enough to make me lose my temper or operate below my usual standards, maybe the little Italian apartment is getting too claustrophobic? get out for some air dude(?)

You still don't get the Red Cross rhetorical question so just take a pass, I have passed beyond the insults stage, very elementary if you ask me.

Remember that nothing so quickly kills a man as the publicity he gives himself, there is nothing infallibly prophetic about pessimistic or cynical conjecture.

Blessings!

Christianity EtcRe: Pay House Rent Or Pay Tithe by ogajim(m): 4:45pm On Feb 09, 2010
TITHING IS A SCAM, yes I said it, now what?

I asked MR(?) viaro the other day, " will you call people who REFUSE to give to the Haiti relief fund through the Red cross stingy even if they have given via other means or can't give because of their situations?"

I got insults instead of a simple answer which I guess is his own brand of Christian meekness. Our Lord Jesus Christ told us to LOVE even those we perceive as enemies.

I wrote something the other day about some Nigerian Churches calling their members to Church despite the storm in this area (Feds are still shut by the way) and he went on to call me "fair weather Christian", another example of his meekness, I could go on but why?

Each of us can do what they please but at the end, we have to ANSWER to the Most High: Those of us (Kunle is the BOSS here) who want to spread the word about this new sale of indulgence should not be deterred by the name calling, intimidation, and other tactics they might come up with because stealing is stealing even those done in the name of the Lord.

The antics of a dude on PMS is not enough, if you're a QB and you see a Line backer like LT on your trail, you take a knee if you've got any sense, think about that for a minute omo iya (abi na iyawo?) cheesy

We cant expect anything less from a spiritual vagabond, and Hobo. Lets focus on the thread.

Proverbs 13:16

Christians now retort to name calling to emphasize their points? Where is "Can't we all get along" Rodney King when you need him?

Nice work Kunle as always, I am still looking for the NL Pulitzer committee because I want to nominate you for the good work you're doing,

I don't want to call you a slow reader Jo but what is too long to search for knowledge, understanding, information, etc? We are not being lazy now are we? wink

As Bob Marley once sang, " There's a natural mystic blowing through the air;
If you listen carefully now you will hear.
This could be the first trumpet, might as well be the last:
Many more will have to suffer,
Many more will have to die - don't ask me why, "

Joagbaje:
I have often asked myself if the owner of NL makes money from it, and if he doesnt I will like to contribute financially. Me as a giver dont like to enjoy things free. I use wikipedia and i used to think they make money from it until one day i saw the owner soliciting for donation. It touched me and i said  i have to send money to them" I was going to do a post to ask how naira land is funded. Nigerians like free things.

Life is giving and recieving, even the eco system of gases shows that. The purpose of every venture is contributing to life. NL is contributing to life, Taxi driver is contributing to life.

There is no twixting of scripures as regards tithing. If a man believes in it, you leave him alone so far as he is fulfiled and blessed by it. I am not approaching tithing as a pastor but as a Christian . Why will a pastor twist scripture on tithing for gains, 10% is too small. I give 30% apart from other things i give. Some are giving lands , houses, for gospel why will only 10% be a reason to twist scriptures.   If a man has gift of healing why would he be teaching on 10% when he could have said "if you need a baby ,bring 1million naira"  some will gladly pay 10 million to have a child or get rid of a life threatning cancer.  No pastor forces anybody, He teaches and he goes away. There is nothing like compolsory tithing . Everything is voluntary in the church , even prayer is not by force. So every one should work with their convictions as Paul said.

Romans 14:5
One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
The greatest things in the World (Air, Sun, etc) are free and I don't blame any Nigerian for getting anything they could for free either. If Nigerians like free things as you stated, how come no one can get contract without the Customary 10%(Could that be called tithe paid to the owner?)? You as a Christian ought to refrain from generalization Jo.

NL owner has done more for Nigeria than those politicos, pastors, etc who parade themselves as "leaders of Nigeria" and everything is not about money dude.
