This is so silly! The white folk hate our guts, do U think we like them! I don't even understand what u're sayin! Put things in context!
We have a saying back home: "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king", you're beginning to rub off as that one-eyed dude.

Do you guys have any morals? wasn't "mama Africa" alleged to have abused little boys while her hubby was away for too long? Your president? gun toting youths? disease-induced orphans? I can go on but why?

I have yet to come across a black professional dude from your parts, Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Somalia, etc, I have seen PLENTY. Work on your "problems" and leave us to work on ours because we both got problems.

Tonye-t seems to be the kind of dude that will twist the Scriptures to his advantage.

A couple of days ago, he claimed Caesar represented the widows, orphans, the poor, etc.

I can tell the dude is not serious and needs not be taken serious.

I have never paid tithes to any Church, pastor or what have you and I am BLESSED (in a foreign land no less)

Tonye-t: Are Christians expected or required to follow "Ancestral customs" now huh huh huh huh

To each his own, each of us will have to work out our Salvation with fear and trembling, we do have a DUTY to protect the innocent (kids and Christians who are being taken advantage of by WOLVES preachers)

OP,

Delusions of grandeur, I am not sure you've been outside Nigeria for more than a couple of weeks straight or you wouldn't have the same position you seem to maintain on this thread with your rant.

What "oyinbo dish" was placed in front of you if I may ask? Like paddy said, only the FAKE among us boast about oyinbo this and oyinbo that. I live in an area where even the regular grocery stores sell plantain, okra, etc and the African stores all over the place to get the rest, even with our food being available, most of us still miss Nigeria to say the least.

Maybe you should transfer this anger towards your "leaders" who no nothing about elementary leadership, I should be mad too because some of them are coming stateside now with their stolen loot and buying properties they don't even have the visa to visit often enough.

As for the "foreign accent", all I can say is that the main objective of communication is to be understood, are you saying we should be speaking pidgin in meetings when even the Jamaicans won't understand it?

Seedtime and harvest. Gen.8:22
You guys will go any length to prove your folly of a doctrine, now where did they mention money? Verse 20 had this:

20And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

Do you and your so called MOGs still practice the above?

Your cartoon must be from a tithe-friendly site  grin, see below and tell me where it said 10%

2 Cor. 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

OLAADEGBU:
"Will a man rob GodYet you have robbed meBut you say, How have we robbed youIn tithes and offerings" -- Malachi 3:8

Here we see that tithes and offering belong to God by virtue of covenant agreements with man.  When we use what rightly belongs to God for personal gain is becomes robbery.

Can we also see how we rob God of tithes and offerings?  This verse is not only applicable to Israel but is also applicable to all nations both in the New and Old Testaments, for God is not a respecter of persons.

As we have pointed out earlier, the paying of tithes was practiced before the Law (Genesis 14:20-;28:22).  It was also commanded under grace in the New Testament (See Matthew 23:23; Romans 2:22 that we should not commit sacrilege, if you are not sure of the meaning find out; 1 Corinthians 9:7-14; Galatians 6:6 Paul here explains why tithes and offering should be paid; 1 Cor. 16:2; and Hebrews 7:1-10).

It often amazes me that folks agree that offerings can be given today but not tithes especially when God says tithes and offering belong to Him. undecided  Where is it written or implied that tithes and not offerings are now abolished?  huh
Ola or is it Agbegilodo?

Malachi was speaking to the Levites about their collections and what they bring to the Temple. The pimping pastors or prosperity pimps love to quote that a lot, so you are either one or been severely brainwashed by one and need to REPENT ASAP.

Study your Bible more and you will find that Jesus Christ taught us to love, help others (poor, widows, orphans, strangers, etc), visit those in prison, etc. There are plenty of ways to help others and MONEY happens to be just one way but you won't guess that from the preachings of the prosperity pimps.

John the Baptist PREACHED REPENTANCE, stood up to the so called Caesar of his days that they had to jail him, I wonder why he didn't take tithes, offerings, seed sowing, etc to "help his ministry".

You guys need to wake up from this SLUMBER and repent from these false doctrines/preaching. Christian Temples are the people and not the buildings, God doesn't live in any Temple built with human hands, why don't you folks take the time to study the Word instead of being carbon copies?

What my post showed is that the regional white folks hate your guts, the other Africans don't think much of you guys either and the fact that you guys have low expectation. You all need to grow up real fast before you point fingers at Nigerians, when you have population in excess of a quarter billion, you're going to have some characters for sure but to think that surmises all is STUPID.

I am well traveled and can lecture you about lots of places, you and your ilk can kiss my *ss if you're going to generalize without concrete evidence. I have come in contact with a few folks from the SA region, some I liked and some I didn't but you won't hear me calling them out for the place they come from, I'll leave that to the less experienced.

The tithe merchants are BACK with some recruits pa pa tongue

Therefore let us give to God what is due God (Matt. 22:21), give to Caesar (beggars, poor, widows) what belong to them. In the Old Testament administrative tithing, Moses’ commanded them to set aside the tithes in the 3rd year and give specifically unto the strangers, widows and orphans. Simple!.

Tonye-tithe; are you kidding me? Caesar equals the poor, beggars and widows in your BOOK?

I feel sorry for you now if this is really your take, who was the temporal AUTHORITY of those times?

GREED needs to be reclassified as a DISEASE.
Foreign AffairsRe: South African Blacks - Could It Be Inferiority Complex? by ogajim(m): 1:58pm On Jan 11, 2010
Smokie appears to have been smoking something when he wrote this and I am not surprised that a fellow SA agrees!

I used to play soccer with a WB from Zimbabwe who later became SA before finally ending up as an Australian and we used to kid him about his different nationalities and his point then was that we didn't get it and it would soon be clear to outsiders why their folks don't feel welcomed in that region anymore and NOW I can see why from some of the venom against Nigerians on this and other threads by SA regional folks.

Any Country with a considerable amount of Mineral resources is a target and one don't need a degree in Nuclear Physics to figure that out, Congo anyone?

I was at the World cup hosted by Germany in '06 and have no desire to come to SA this June unless I am allowed to come fully armed to defend myself.

If you think Nigerian President goes overseas for medical treatment because Nigeria lacks those, then you really haven't been to that Country, I'll take that kind of president anyday over one that believes a shower after unprotected sex with an "HIV positive" lady is GREAT protection.
Foreign AffairsRe: South African Blacks - Could It Be Inferiority Complex? by ogajim(m): 3:59am On Jan 09, 2010
A lot of us still remember those "free South Africa donations" even at the Elementary school level, South Africans getting free educations all over the country, not to talk of the pressure Nigerian Governments mounted with their "Oil Clout" in those days.

Maybe we need to educate our SA brothers about some of these, as for the "dingo/dingbat/dumbo, those of us in NA don't need to say anymore. wink

OLAADEGBU:
@dupsygal,

You can only do so much in trying to change my people's poverty mentality. Human nature is totally different from the principles practiced in the kingdom of God. The way up is down, to harvest is to sow and to receive is to give. Folks will find this difficult to comprehend just as those who are used to walking by sight will find it difficult to adjust to the principle of walking by faith.

Jesus said it is better to give than to receive. If you feed a poor man with fish you may succeed in feeding him for a day but if you use the Kingdom of God's priniciples and teach the poor man to fish you will end up feeding him and others for a lifetime. Some folks would rather depend on handouts than to become suppliers.

Paul also addressed this issue in Galatians 6:6 as Tom Brown has pointed out, that we have to provide for our ministers who preach the gospel. I wonder what other practice that would suffice than the practice of tithes and offering that was already in place.
How does not giving 10% to some "pastor" equate "poverty mentality"?

Where is it written that you must "sow a seed" with just money?

Where is it written that "giving" should be money only?

Where is it written that farm hands, craftsmen, etc paid 10% tithe?

Why can't you support "Pastors, MOG, etc" with offering abi they demand too much?

Can't you get a real job instead of twisting the Bible for "filthy lucre"?

Need me to keep going? Get a grip man!

Just checking here.

No one is saying you should not give to your Church whatever you desire to give them on a scheduled basis, the belief that one is someone required to pay God before God blesses them is wrong=modern sale of indulgence no wonder Nigerian politicos get the front seats in some of these "Churches"

I was there so i know them even with thier words. How can someone without the holy spirit test spirits. A man that is lost will do anything to scatter the sheep of the shepherd. A wise man will listen to the holy ghost inside of him and not some confused critics forcing themseves on people. Even if they see red they will insist is yellow. Joagbaje:
We are not complaining.  . Ask yourself if everyone behave like you, will the gospel ever reach africa?.While some of you are still arguing over Ten percent to God others are giving all for the gospel. I don't give ten percent as tithe , I feel it's too small I give twenty or sometimes thirty percent. The inventor of Caterpiller machines attributed his success to his tithting. He started with 10% and later 20% before he died he was giving 90%! and only kept 10% for him self and this  10% was in billions! .These are men that were involved in sponsoring bibles all over the world. Let the the poor men be busy attacking the churches ,spend your whole day in business centres typing rubish . Campaingning for other poor people. There's no amount of money you give a poor man that will suffice. It is the gospel that will help the poor and THE POOR MUST GIVE TO GET OUT OF POVERTY!. Anybody busy doing something will not have time to criticise those who are busy.
Any Bible verses to support the highlighted?

Abram gave a tenth of the LOOT, show me anywhere else he "PAID" tithe!

Jacob promised to give a tenth in Bethel, do you know where it was stated he "paid"?

Mosaic Law tithing had to do with the tribe of Levi, is Tonye-tithe a Levite? Are your fellow pastors from the tribe of Levi?? Lev27:30-32

Festival tithe? Deut 12:11-12 or the "welfare tithe" in Deut. 14:28-29?

Jesus did not fulfill the LAW for you? Matt. 5:17, Gal.3:13

The Scammers keep quoting our Lord Jesus out of context in Matt. 23:23 or Luke 11:42 which was for those UNDER THE LAW.

Jesus Christ (most High Priest after the order of Melchizedek) didn't collect tithes but the "pastors" that came after him are required to collect tithes?

If God required a Christian to PAY tithe (instead of freewill giving/offering), why didn't he send our Savior from the house Levi instead of the tribe of Judah?

I am curious!

To PAY tithe sounds too much like "pay taxes"
