Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Shell Discrimination Of HND Holders, Equating Them With Bsc Third Class. by ogawisdom(m): 6:59pm On Nov 10, 2015
baminasri:
Right now, I find it very hard to call myself a Nigerian. What is the point of pledging loyalty to a country that cares not for the HND graduates?

As an HND holder, I graduated with distinction (Top of my class)from the top polytechnic in Nigeria. With high hopes, I applied for the ongoing shell graduate recruitment. The recruitment process involves an online registration and series of online aptitude tests prior to oral interview. What broke my heart during the registration was when I saw the column fo where to indicate your class of degree. First option was first class. Second was second class upper. Third was second class lower and the fourth was third class/HND.
This means that irrespective of your grade in the polytechnic, shell sees you as a third class graduate.
Well, I have moved on. Better things ahead. My advice to HND holders is to embrace entrepreneurship. That way, we can gain respect in the society. And for the country called Nigeria that have refused to stop this BSc/HND dichtonomy, what out for HND holders who will shape the economy soon!!!
University graduate is way ahead of polytechnic graduate n d two can't b equal

U can't do direct MSc with hnd
Ur lecturers r mere bsc graduates
Most of u don't have five credits in waec
Most men/ladies won't marry a poly graduate
Hnd is a diploma nt a degree angry
Even when u get into civil service hnd starts below graduate n usually can't get to d top rank

I pity d good ones among u sha, if u ask me all polytechnics should be turned to university of technology n let them award B. Tech

Family › Re: The Stigmatisation Of Unmarried/single Working Adult Nigerians by ogawisdom(m):
StarboyMichael:
My friend wrote this and I want to share.

Let me first declare that this post was inspired by a Facebook post by a friend. She narrated that she heard a pastor telling the married women in his congregation not to be friends with single women...the reason for his advice is that he believes they will be misled by their unmarried/single friends.

Well I am not ready to join issue with this pastor, but I will like to use this opportunity to join issue with Nigerian society as a whole. Personally, I have always believed that Nigerians have a very misguided, perverted and warped idea of a relationship or marriage.
I said so because I am talking from experience. An average Nigerian believes that once a man or woman is working, the next thing is for him or her to get married. Everywhere you go, you are bombarded with the questions of "when are you getting married?", "do you know time is going?", "what are you waiting for?", etc. In fact, the pressure is so much that if you are not a strong person, you will start thinking that you have a problem.

Now let everyone listen to me, if you are married, congratulations and I wish you well. But it is an invasion of privacy to be asking people when they are getting married. And it is wrong of you to disrespect people because they are not married. Some people even think single or unmarried people are irresponsible or lose. If you are a man, some people will also insinuate that may be you are impotent. ‪#‎smile‬. I have seen situations where some married people believe you should accord them special respect because they are married and you are not.

Let me continue by saying that I am not married and I don't need anybody's advice on why I am not yet married. I personally will not tolerate disrespect from anyone because I am not married. Neither will I accord anyone special respect because he or she is married. I will only respect you if you deserve my respect, whether you are married or single is immaterial to me.

Finally, let it be clear that single or unmarried status is not a disease that needs to be cured. And to all the single and unmarried people out there, your destiny is in your own hands. Whether you allow the society to make you feel inadequate or not, depends on you. Always remember that there is nothing wrong with you. Also, know that everybody cannot get married at the same time. In fact, I don't have problem with anyone who doesn't want to get married at all.

Thank you and share your thoughts.
Nawa ooo a married man or woman is usually seen to be more responsible n this is correct 90percent of d time.
Most
Landlords won't rent their house to you except u r married, dnt blame them BC if u ve lived in a compound where some single students shared a flat u will understand

Some societies won't admit single members, if u like b 100yrs u cant b a member of cmo or cwo in d catholic church without marriage u r stuck in cyo infact u r nt a full catholic until wedded in catholic church

Most ppl won't do certain biz with you if u r nt married so if u disappear dey will hold ur wife n children

Op hw many armed robbers/criminals r married they r very few majority r single

Responsible female must marry b4 35yrs at most dts y Linda ikeji is seen as a waste even when she is a billionaire BC she is single n u can see she is now begging for husband grin

Responsible males must marry b4 40yrs at most, dts y Jim iyke is seen as irresponsible

It's odd to see singles at this age, even God didn't design humans like dt. As for d pastor he is absolutely right married women shouldn't keep singles as close /best frnds.

Op stop ranting n go and get married nw if u r old enough undecided there is time for everything, u can't b a single all ur life. It is nt good dt a man should b alone.

Good day all... I have this Toyota camry 1999 that the ac won't work even when repaired many times.. It will just work for highest a month and start blowing hot again, but the one that really pissed me off was that I went to an ac technician last week and he filled the gas, added oil and checked for leakage but found none... BTW he said my compressor is OK.... Only for me to switch the ac on today and it started blowing hot again... I wanted to cry, please gurus in the house.... Advice me on what to do, please
Lol pls dnt cry the compressor has a serious leak I guess, I have dumped ac on my car for 2months on acct of this until am ready to buy a toks compressor n brand new condenser.

Most ac technician can't trace a leak on car ac system, do they even have d equipment to do dt, dts the major challenge.

Urs seems to b a major leak if it lasts only a few days, when did u service ur ac system last n did u replace any component, expansion valve, dryer, evaporator/freezer, compressor n condenser.

I seem to have this common problem with dating:

After a few weeks of talking, and/or one or two dates, communication ceases without warning. I would send a text message every few days wishing her well. If I call, the phone will just ring to voicemail. If I send any text messages, it will not be returned.

If this had just happened once, I'd quickly get over it. If the girl would simply tell me that she doesn't want to continue, I'd be okay with it. This cessation of communication has been from every single girl that I have talked to, and it has always occured in this fashion.

I don't know what is wrong with me, or what I'm doing wrong. It has gotten to the point where I fear that God doesn't want me to marry, or have a family someday.

Can anyone advise me on what to do?

my friends too wonder, they say with my status ladies should be all over me. they say i dont take them serious. i am not gay and wil never be.

i agree my job leaves me little room to go out because i work almost every day. in fact in a whole month i have just 2 free weekends. 2 days out of which i still go to work.

is there something i can do to be in a healthy relationship. i desire to have a balance.

I had given my wife all the liberty to use facebook, whatsapp and other internet applications. She is not a regular user of these applications. One of her co worker(married with one kid) whom she had a bad remark, like he is always chatting with some other lady who is also married. She had a negative remark of this person. After few months this guy turn to be in her friend circle and occasionally she used to tell me details which sounds different from earlier comments and sound good about that guy.

Later he started to sent 'Hi', 'How r u' etc in Whatsapp and facebook and she used to show me and reply with my permission. I took this as a good friendship and did not noticed much about it. In recent one month somehow I started checking the messages. The messages were normal and nothing sounds different.

He got another job and maintained this friendship. What surprised me us in addition to messages in facebook or whatsapp, they communicate also in SMS but content is very decent. The count of communication has increased and now a days she dont tell or show his messages may be she might be thinking that I am convinced of their friendship.

My wife basically hesitate to send messages if I ask to send details of any things to buy from shop and also was very cautious of not wasting money by SMS. But now she replies to all his SMS and not bothered about cost.

Few days back I openely discussed this with her and she told you can check our messages any time and there is nothing of bad nature. Also she said since I dont like this she will stop sending messages. infact he used to send messages between night 9.30 to 11. Since I objected she messaged him in front of me that not to send messages as I dont like that.

what worrying me is whether this communication continues and if the messages are deleted I wont come to know.

So far both of them have not dealt in a wrong way. Reading above what do you feel whether this is a good relation or shall I put constraints on it. Also how will I bring back my wife from this relation though it is not crossed boundaries so far
It all starts with being good frnds, chatting with someone daily even lovers can't beat dt tongue
Family › Re: Someone Please Tell Me What To Do by ogawisdom(m): 12:06pm On Oct 31, 2015
Needadvice:
I am married with no kids yet. I am a professional, but my work does not pay much. Because of that, my family had to put up with the little that i come home with at the end of every month. It pains me that in the face of many domestic needs begging for attention, i only can do little. In order for us to cope, i resorted to the common man economic tool - scale of preference. I give priority to those the family consider capital projects and attend to the others after. This method however has not appealed to my dear wife. She acknowledged that we go for the big financial tasks, but at the same time argues that i have not been given her chunk of money for her needs. It's undoubtedly true that every wife needs monetary tips to attend to her private needs, i don't know exactly how to achieve that from my little salary without sealing off the so-called big projects. At the moment, she just finished Uni and awaiting NYSC. So, she hasn't started doing something yet even though we have a plan for that. Few months ago, she started agitating for change of our accommodation which i gave in to, because truly that was long overdue. I borrowed some money which we are still paying with interest. I am working on starting a small business for her (before the NYSC next March) and i am also planning to pay (half) of the school fees which her Uni mandated us to pay as part of her clearance for the service, but still we are at loggerheads because i wasn't able to leave out some big cash with her. Being at home, i attended to her basic needs (not all though) and promised her i would arrange to be paying some stated amount from my salary as soon as we are cleared off our debts and pressing needs, but at every slight provocation, she reminds me that i am not doing enough for her financial needs. The problem is, i don't see a way of meeting her expectation unless i give up those big ones (which directly affects her and increase the family's chance of doing better). People who have found themselves in this situation, please share how you handled it. It'd really help me resolve it without making a mistake. Thanks
Draw up a family budget based on your family income taking some of her needs into consideration, show her the budget n both of u shld agree on it n stick to it.

If she complains assure her things will get better by d time she starts working

If she disturbs u further after all these abt her needs then tell her to her face dt she is extremely selfish n stand ur ground huh

Btw borrowing for consumption is bad economics dnt let his lady make u a perpetual debtor, live within ur means

A woman can easily frustrate or kill a man ie if d man wants to satisfy all their wants which they call needs

Hi my people, pls I need ur advise regarding nissan xterra niaja used.

I'm about to buy an suv, I'm thinking of nissan xterra 2003 model Nigeria used, is the car economical? Does it have second hand value? Is it problem free, I guess is not problematic? And any other advice I may need as I will not want to change car in next five years after purchase cuz of other engagement, can it take me through five years? Thanks a lot for ur contribution
No car or SUV is problem free not to talk of a naija flogged SUV but xterra is super rugged with high ground clearance it is compatible with naija roads. Nothing can stop u potholes, flood, even if u want to climb mountain it is a super offroader. If u dnt mind d looks which is like a soldier ant then u r good to go BC its parts are relatively affordable n available.

It can take you as long as you r willing to replace parts, do servicing n repairs.

U shld try d 4 cylinder if u prefer fuel economy to d power of v6
