Every ethnic group has a malady of some sort. Who would rather collect money and sell their heritage, labour and sweat of their fathers to strangers rather than their own. What these promoters dont want us to know is, boxing is money. Not in itself but the marketability of the fighters. AJ was starting to bore the powers that be. I graduated in the year 2019 from one of the foremost Universities in Nigeria, did my NYSC but after that I have been applying for job all to no avail.

During my job search, I applied for a job in a private University in February, after much delay, we did Examination in June and interview in July, I was picked as I have seen my name on the list of successful canadidate. The job is very OK and working environment superb and with a moderate salary and virtually no stress
But the thing, I have strong passion for my course, I have even applied for M. SC(1 year) in another University just to gain more knowledge, already have thesis topic and everything that I will need all through, I have already initiated how to japa through study abroad once I finish my course, now I am scared, like really scared because if the plan doesn't work out, then I will be losing a very good opportunity.

Note : I can't study my M. SC in that university because they do not have the department and equipments

You could:
a.) Show a level of commitment to your offer, by paying for your first term and deferring the admission till the next intake ( that is if they offer starts in Fall, Spring, Summer or Winter). Let them know that since your passion is further education for a career in academia, you have commenced a teaching paid internship towards that. This makes you appear focussed, credible and poachable afterwards.
b.) Since nothing in life is sure, Forget the employment offer, go on ahead honour and full-fill (sic) the offer - the future is bright. If you were graced to get an offer in the first place, in Nigeria, (where the only things that work are 'cronyism', 'nepotism', ethnicity and ethnocentrism, corruption etc)YOU CAN GET ANOTHER OFFER in Nigeria or anywhere for that matter.

You see, a significant proportion of Nigerians who live abroad are not straight and this is why they avoid the radar. Anything that calls for their scrutiny, you will get thrown under the bus sharp sharp.
When a Nigerian comes abroad, the best thing for him or her is to minimize or avoid Nigerians especially shady ones.
Out here, there is a way things work and the critical first step is to earn trust of locals/citizens not Naturalized Nigerians. Your host country wants you and there are many ways to succeed, the major determinant is patience, paying your dues as a newcomer and modesty. Does not make sense, rather, since the scheme is called Youth Service, one should be allowed to commence the service right after SS3. Many youths are still redeemable and malleable right after high school, having them go serve then, perhaps for 6 months waiting to go into Uni buys them time and also allows them serve should strikes prevail when they eventually get into university and are overage by the time they graduate. It's not the length but the scope, the limitations the current system imposes

First of all, if a final year project is useless during and after graduation, the blame is on the school, the department, the supervisor and finally the student. First of all, the idea of a final year project should be a culmination of the 4/5/6/7 years (dependent on the course) of the student's studies. Simply put what was a problem, a phenomenon that you encountered or has been an issue of debate in your field of study while on campus. Say for instance, you studied electrical/mechanical engineering, a project can focus on accessibility (automatic doors/escalators) for physically challenged students, or if a civil/structural/surveying/urban regional planning student, the construction of a mini link road/bridge that could serve as a short cut route to other parts of campus. If you are a science student (mbbs, mcb, bch etc) your project can be on accessible and affordable medical care for students on campus etc. My point is, your project must focus on pointing out and research on problems within campus. You can point out why it is an issue, how it is a problem and then solutions. This project aimed at a campus problem will allow you build on it, if you have to go for Masters due to no job and then brag about your problem solving at any interview.

The problem is, most of us never thought about project until perhaps year 3 or 4, at that time, the gp is either buried at the Lagoon front or you just want to graduate. Also, supervisors who stifle one's creativity, either cause they are lazy to read or reenacting what they experienced while as a student writing their project back then.

In conclusion, if you re in your final year or about to, this op's post is a decent place to start, ask yourself, what will my project be about, originality, that is something you can relate to or just copy and paste....either way, its your call

How I end up washing people's poo as a graduate with 2:1.

Growing up, I used to admire graduates a lot especially the way they do things, conduct themselves and the rest. You see them living in a good house and in the morning, they dress up properly, go to work and return in the evening. Non-graduates of course used to jealous graduates a lot as it were. Fast forward to today, the table has sharply turned 360°. Now, graduates have not only been ridicule but reduced almost to nothing. Non-graduates who learnt one skill or the other are the ones kicking money bags to the bank.

Well, I finished university 3 years ago and couldn't find a job despite aggressive job hunting due to obvious reasons. Being the first in the family, the pressure was/is already much on me. The aged parents have tried within their powers thinking the best they could do for me was training me to acquire a university degree but in today's Nigeria, it's glaringly not enough.

Let me not bother you all with long story but I don't see myself continuing with this kind of life any longer because it's not what I envisaged.

According to the heading, I graduated with second class upper division which of course is a good grade considered very employable according to society standard and labour market. Despite this, I searched for job in every nook and cranny I could but to no avail. Everyday I have to eat food, rent expiring, bills piling up, parents looking up to me and younger ones who are already in school every now and then would call and ask for assistance and which I didn't have. Out of no option, I accepted an offer to work as a laundry man in a hotel for 15k/month. That's how I thought I have at least got something doing. Frankly speaking, I didn't have an in depth knowledge of the job description.

Obviously, this would be a long story but let try and shorten it. Do you know that I have drained so much from my body in the course of this work physically and health wise? Practically, I wash between15-25 bedsheets/duvets everyday as the hotel does not have washing machine....parked since it got spoilt. Consequently, my pams have developed thick skin which is now very tough, rough and scratchy.

However, the above might not just be my only anger. More annoying is that, some guests are so inhumane. Is it because you paid money to lodge in the place that's why you believe you have to do wickedness? Why I'm writing this is because of the very one that happened few days ago. Actually that wasn't the first time. It's been happening over and over before. Could you believe a guest used the hotel bedsheets and defecated on it, folded it and kept it and checked out. As a laundry man, of course it landed on me and I was the one who washed the poo off. Oh God! Like I said, that wasn't the first time although other ones only used the bedsheets to clean their buttocks (for whatever reasons because I believe tissue paper is always there) after defecating but this particular guest 'pooed' fully inside the bedsheets, folded it and dropped it for whoever to come carry it and wash. I'm not writing fiction here please. This is 100% real of what I'm going through in the supposed 15k/month job. How wicked? When toilet was there?

Moving forward, equally, I can't count the number of times I have washed menstrual blood from bedsheets. These men bring even women who are on menses to sleep with them and end up pouring menstrual blood all over the bedsheets and I would be the one to wash it. God why?

Most annoying of all is, the management pays salary on the 26th of the following month. How inhumane some people can be? In other words, I have to work 2 months to get 1 month salary or simply put, 15/2=7500. In reality, that is the salary I'm receiving as a graduate. When I picked up the job, my plan was to raise up to 50k within the shortest possible time and move to something else, but unfortunately, I don't even know what I'm doing now.
