What insults?
When did I insult you?
Christ!

I repeat, your argument is rather lame!

'Each Family had its own health practices, didn't inter-marry, didnt eat some things...?!'
cheesy

Can you hear yourself?
cheesy

...and the Medicine was sooo good common illnesses were killing people off like flies!

So good that even though the old-timers didn't understand the foreign Religion, they could see that their Medicine worked.

Their 'Abikus' stopped dying, the Village Witch suddenly became powerless and contracting Pneumonia, Tuberculosis or just Malaria, didnt mean you had to die.

Was evidence-based Medicine forced down anybody's throat?
What do you think caused people to embrace Modern Science.

You need to go to areas of Nigeria, where your 'special' traditional medicine is still adhered to, and see treatable diseases killing people off-- or making them suffer unnecessarily.

For all your 'wokeness,' you my dear are displaying an alarming level of Myopia.

You probably heard the Conspiracy theories somewhere and jumped on it without thinking things through (properly).

You are out of your league here.
What league are you in, that you're proud of? The league of house negroes aka coons? Who do what Massa says: "Massa is good peoples!" It is obvious hollywood has spinned oyinbo for you and apparently, you have not lived with them enough to know them and so like a good 'boy' you just spew your Massa's praise.

Well, so it may not be said that you were not told, 'the proverbial dog destined to get lost never listens to it's hunter's whistle' enjoy your Massa's chitterlings(Google it). When a man has dwelt for long in darkness, even the Devil's fire seems a pleasurable light and such is what I perceive from your disposition.

Beg you?! undecided

What means did our ancestors have to stop childhood mortality?
Mention any.

Your argument is rather baseless and as such, I wasn't going to waste my time.

Comot abeg!
Lol! Apparently your knowledge of history is written ONLY in the English Language. Where is your village? perhaps we can point you to some good oral history that your oyinbo 'gods' have either hidden from you/deceived you with or you're just too lazy to research about.

Before the "wet chicken" showed up with their diseases, we had herbalists (not how they have been demonized by hollywood/nollywood even Christianity today). Every family had their own health practices unique to them, these traditions for health being unique to each family was a reason why certain families would not eat certain things, did not intermarry certain folks etc. The herbalist attended to specialist cases - those beyond the family experience.

Twice now, you have resorted to insults, in stating your narrow point of view. It only reflects your inability to disagree without being disagreeable. Moreso, a capture of your basic world view and so rather than return your intellectual myopicity, I will ignore it... But pls, there are a lot of lies out there, some of us who are woke, will not suffer freelance purveyors of lies to mislead our people. #OurMumuForOyinboDonDo

Compare childhood mortality 200 years ago and now!

Think Jon Snow, think!

...and HIV came from vaccines?
grin

Just go, abeg!
Jon Snow! cool... at least he outlived all those who became defiled.

Childhood mortality then vis-a-vis now? although both are, and should not, be the sole index for comparison, still... I'm glad you brought it up... Back then, our ancestral folks had a genuine concern to stop childhood mortality and had their means (primitive as per oyinbo mind). Back then, what worked for one village was not imposed or systematically rendered impotent by another village.

Since the entry of colonial whites, Africa, (sadly even till now,) the 'romance' with the West continues to have us taking one baby step forward and 24, grown men with big feet steps backwards.

And, No! I will not "Just go, abeg" (Beg me more! grin)

Come on...!

Malaria can be eradicated (or you didn't know?)
grin

Mind you immunization is debatable everywhere in the world.
There are whites who believe this rubbish too, saying it will make their Children autistic.

I have worked in HIV prevention in Nigeria and I can say with all certainty that without support from these your so called Eugenists, HIV would have ravaged this sub-continent more than any War or Poverty could.

Believe what you would though, and when you have children, refuse to have them gets their vaccines.
"worked with HIV in Nigeria", grin
Sir, did HIV originate from Africa? Was it not introduced through oyinbo vaccines?
Do you have or lived with someone with autism? Before vaccines, how did Africans survive?
Have you researcher the make up of the so called vaccines being sent to Africa?
Are you aware that most of these vaccines were not designed with African progress as the major concern?
Are you aware that although humans are the same, their genetic makeup differs and so there is no one size fits all medication?
You speak of "...without support...HIV would have ravaged" has it not already?

I really cannot believe how people who went to formal school can choose to just stay with what they re shown/told.

Please, if vaccines were all that, why do they have to ENFORCE IT? Why do they monopolize the operations to the extent where local breakthroughs in science are diplomatically shut down.

No pun intended but the plan is not to progress Africa, it is to keep them underdeveloped (unable to see or extricate themselves)

Christianity EtcRe: Daddy Freeze Apologises To Bishop Oyedepo by Ojady(m): 7:03am On Sep 13, 2020
Freeze appears to be one of many who may have been called but because of worldly recognition and riches, do not wait to be sent, but rather small revelation (like Saul) they send themselves. Sadly, for people like that, this is usually how it starts, using scriptures to justify folly. At the end of the day, something happens to them and then followers of them, blame God or confused to the point of denying God exists.

Pastors Ibiyeomi and Enenche (in the context of their personalities) were only calling Ifedayo Ibirinde to repentance - knowing fully well Pride cometh before destruction. God must really love Freeze considering the fact that Uzzah never had anyone warn him about "zeal of my father's house" Na one slap from God finish am
Christianity EtcRe: Pastor Paul Enenche Responds To Daddy Freeze, Calls Him A Mad Dog And A Bastard by Ojady(m): 2:30pm On Sep 12, 2020
Ifedayo Olarinde aka Freeze should be very careful. There are many ways to get your point across than resorting to direct insults. Is this how he wants his followers to address anyone they disagree with?

Not a few people agree that, What he does calls for critical thinking, is eye opening, (something critical to progress) however, why only religion, christianity to be precise? Is he afraid of the Muslims? Also, his condoning, frolicking even projecting celebrities with questionable morals is a major discredit to the objectiveness of his social punditry.

While criticizing christian religious stalwarts, he downplays the facts that there is a purpose for everything that exists or continues in a society. Men have souls, these souls, as much as we try to fill it's need with material things, social associating, it is only the immaterial that can adequately cater to it. This is perhaps why every human has a religion (a set of beliefs, practices/rituals) that aligns with what they believe - call it whatever (Christianity, Islam, Buddha, Atheism, Nature, Nudism, Rastafarian etc)

Additionally, it is only when the Government continues to fail the people massively like the Nigerian Government does, that religion offers an escape, a sense of hope; and so, for Religion to thrive like it does in Nigeria(with charlatans and opportunists) is not because of the Men of God per se but the failure of Government.

Freeze and all those who follow him mindlessly consider that, when what you do causes offence, reflects a bias mostly against certain religious leaders and apparently, your lack of a stainless moral background yourself, there should be no surprise as to all that is beginning to unfold.

Morally and speaking from a civilized sense, would he talk, mimic or ridicule his father like that? Even if you do that to your father at home and he allows you to do so, you do not take the practice outside your home and perpetrate it on others. Certain charities begin and should end at home. Or perhaps, we should go seek his father (without his father's not doing anything to us personally) and slap him around a bit for his bringing such a child without home training to the world.

Christianity EtcRe: Is Listening To Secular Music or Watching Movie Bad For A Christian? by Ojady(m): 3:57pm On Aug 16, 2020
I can relate...I will never forget as a choirister, how back then, I was flooding myself with Gospel, hip hop, Reggae, R&B and, Makossa, afterall they don't mix or so I thought. This was my medley, to the extent where, one day, during my leading worship, we reached a Praise break ( the part, you want the people to break in a dance/shout etc) and I loudly blurted out unconsciously the word "Awilo Longomba" - it was not funny. Apparently what a bird eats - it shuts... cheesy

Dependent on your stage of Christian maturity - Yes, it will affect you and you must control it.You see, in our walk here, spirit is everything. The movie, the music we encounter has a spirit, is fluid, looking for a soul/body to inhabit in order to give it life, enable its expression and, transmission.

When we listen or watch, there is an imprint on the mind no matter how small, or conscious we are of it. If it's music, you either register the beat, the lyrics, the arrangement or its visuals and where is that? In and on your mind. If it's a movie, it's a character, a scene, a quote, the progression of events and eventually, your mind is aware of it, forming an impression and eventually your opinion and attitude.

To identify if it is good for you or not,you would an awareness not only of what you re watching or listening to, but also a questioning of what subliminal (innuendos and not so obvious) messages being passed. A typical example is action movies - where Guns are used arbitrarily like it is the culture in America, where it is far from the truth. Such awareness only comes with the Holy Spirit and maturity. If one is immature, one takes it as is (just a movie), for someone woke (for lack of a better word) you are aware not only of its direct but also indirect messages ( that handsome gay guy who has it all together, that lesbian politician who talks so eloquently representing her community, that teenager who is jerking off and is caught and is quickly excused, that girl who is deemed slow cause she does not drink/having sex etc.)

It can affect a person

These animals may have been wiped out during the flood of Noah's time. I doubt that though, as only land animals were recorded as having 'died'. This suggests that, some of the water animals, if not all-did not die, rather some of these beasts MAY HAVE dived deeper and deeper into the darkest parts of the oceans, into the earth's core. Such creatures only being seen when, there is an earthquake or tsunami - either due to their moving or their being pushed up a bit closer up to where humans are able to sight them. The movie 'The Meg" starring Jason Statham and sea-farers attesting to this. The ocean is loaded.

Most countries have an embassy in other countries. The embassy, ideally is to be a representative, advocate even a home to its citizens in the host foreign country. An ambassador is akin to the President of its citizens in the country. Fostering and managing socio-economic relations, however, this right here (the sacking of an embassy, harassment of foreign citizens) is a disgrace. The sacking of the Embassy was perhaps the beginning of a systemic Nigeria must go movement (if there is one) No one can deny the fact it is a fallout of the illiterate nature of ambassadorial appointments and staffing of Nigerian embassies worldwide. And who is to blame? The home Government, the host country and, the people who live in such foreign countries.

The home Government that appoints diplomatic nonentities who cannot even manage their own homes as ambassadors and diplomatic representatives. Such shallow individuals lacking initiative, patriotism to improve social relations just run the embassy as a hustle, connecting their cronies and lackeys leaving Nigerians in limbo and maltreatment from citizens and institutions of the host country.

The host country who is not allowed to have a say in who it wants as it's ambassador. If you re sent a troublemaker, would you harbour him in your house to invite trouble and disturb your peace. Moreso, Communication is key. If there is a flouting of regulations, what is the media for? InvestmentRe: Safe Betting: How I Lost N880,000 In 8 Minutes by Ojady(m): 4:35pm On Jul 30, 2020
abujarealtor:
Good day, everyone.

Yesterday was one of the most confusing days for me. For a moment, I almost ran mad.

Two weeks ago, I didn't even know what betting was like. Never done it, never experienced it. I hardly knew what the numbers meant.

Fast forward to yesterday, Tuesday, 28 July, I was risking a client's money on a game I thought was 'a sure bet.'

It was an eSports game I've been following for a while. I knew the players involved were very skilled and could score for fun. They did so in over 10 successive matches last night. So I thought it was worthwhile betting they'd score at least 2 goals.

I tried to do so in three attempts, but didn't have the mind to follow through, only for the matches to end up with at least 3 goals or more.

Informed by this, I thought it was safe to go on ahead and play this one time. I did. Unfortunately, both matches didn't end like I had predicted.

Over 800k was gone in a flash. I couldn't believe it. Seeing the signs, I attempted a cash out while the match was still live but couldn't, as the option wasn't available.

You may wonder why I had to risk such a huge sum.

It's simple; think I got greedy. embarassed

However, my excuse was that I needed money to offset some bills. Faced with so much responsibilities, I thought winning over a million naira would go a long way in helping me take care of stuff since business hasn't been coming in so much. The tile money I used was my first business since March, before the lockdown.

But, of course, my greed overshadowed any excuse I could offer.

To all the young men out there, please, regardless of how sure you are, do not stake more money than you're willing to lose. I've been there. The allure of making it big sooner can be overwhelming, but don't risk it.

If you must, stake little sums and make future bets from your winnings.

cry cry cry

@I'm not sure whether this is the right place for this, but pls help push it to the front page so people can learn from my experience.
This is a Classic example of the saying "If it looks too good to be true/real, it probably is". A reminder to NEVER EVER jump into any river with clothes off, head first, both feet and entire body.

Nonetheless, the story sounds incredulous, no offence intended. I mean, if I used up a client's 800Gs meant for something productive for the client and more business/money for me, I would not be-at least not within 48hrs, posting it for people to learn right away. I would be all over trying to cover up. However, I want to believe you have recouped the capital, otherwise Sir, the Nigerian Police Force, Covid19 or not, are still hungry o!

Before we begin to rain curses and offer prayers, pls can we just go beyond rhetorics. When was the last time we genuinely, deliberately expressed concern for that man, that woman, that boy, that girl, the child we see everyday, beyond our own narrow, selfish, perhaps passive selves?

When one sees things like this, it is an aftermath, a culmination of events to which the individual concerned took the easiest available way (they knew) out. If they did not die of natural causes due to abandonment, the state of mind of the mother comes into question. Did she know she could put them up for adoption? Was she aware or had the social ties to advocate for her to get the children separated (if they were Siamese/conjoined). Was she afraid to tell her parents she had conceived? Were they born healthy and soon realized were conjoined and thought, in this covid19 times?: How we go take do am? In essence these are just a few of the underlining issues.

May God help us all to pay attention to what matters (humaneness, humanity and fraternity) not lies, and vanity. cry

Is it a civic right to feed people at a funeral? If so, even during Covid19 and numbers are rising? I don't get it...It appears the organisers don't care, are mentally lazy or, they see an avenue to siphon money if covid19 cases increase.
Who were the organisers of the food distribution? Could they not have had the food prepacked prior to and handed to folks on a properly designed social distancing compliant queue.

At times the real motives of philanthropy, charity or generosity needs to be questioned in a place like Nigeria. The organisers of this event should be arrested and held responsible if a spike in Covid19 cases is reported after this. "Pay attention to those who act a role, they tend to forget their lines".

"...worst recession..." - says who? This World Bank people are just a big scam - using PR spin to deflect their own reality. Truth is, every country in the world is going to experience a recession, either currently, soon or later. As a Matter of fact, like covid19 it is pervasive from the East (China) to the West (Italy) to the North West (America) and then Southwards (Africa). The World superpower balance will and is shifting, sadly the USA, UK, and the G8 as we know it is up for contention. Opportunity awaits every country ...

A statement like this has staunch political undertones perhaps an aim of scrambling for fledgling (so called 3rd world/developing) countries/allies who's political class are not literate enough (both socio-economically and global-politically) to negotiate or demand a change in structure. This is why you see them coming after Akinwumi Adesina (of the AFDB) with their crony organizations. The Dude has seen where the ball is going and is ready to position Africa, re he's initiatives and appointing trusted allies. When they have no dirt on you and want to maintain the imbalance, they devise anything, media, propaganda and so on to influence the general opinion. They succeed to the extent that majority don't ask the intent of such publications.

Please, Nigerian leaders, you got this...if they don't want our fuel, Biko, make we dey use am ourselves. Now is the time to look inwards, towards solving our problems with no interference from economic bullies like the World Bank.

Interesting and incisive piece: Simply put: You will have your accepted/hitherto Single/Self/My way of life shaken to its roots...and this goes for both man or woman. Being married is not the same as side chicking/Asst boyfriending, dating, rehearsing for marriage -IT IS WHAT IT IS - Not for the selfish, immature or as an excuse or an escape from something/someone
Prepare to cleave and compromise. To cleave means to split or sever. Some views, relationships, behaviours WILL HAVE TO GO. The list is inexhaustible and peculiar, howbeit once you are prepared, (prepared as in readily adapting, gradually going with the flow till it's natural, seeking to understand why with a lot of long suffering and patience) the transition will not be VERY difficult. When one gets married, one has to be ready for change and, to change. That girlfriend who could not hurt a fly,you will discover gets overly upset when you finish peeing and dont pull up the toilet seat; the guy who when you were engaged complimented you on how well you cook, pukes at your adding curry to his scrambled eggs: toothpaste pressing anywhere on tube vs from bottom; symbolism of left hand vs right hand giving and receiving; that MiL (Mother in Law) who came to beg you to marry her philandering son now turned to a Be-All or End-All of your new home (God knows how many times you have whispered 'Mind your own business Mama's) under your breathe; that your chechere (#inFela'sVoice) 5&6 friend who secretly envies your new status spreading your business out on the streets; the so called Senior/Elder sister who now feels, now you re family can come and go (including your freezer and pot of soup)as she pleases or expects you babysit her kids while she goes about her business etc)
