My take...Study a course that gives you great joy, be it medicine, theatre arts, engineering etc. Fortunately most of the courses the OP advised people to go into like Agriculture, theatre arts, IT are professions you can easily take up in future even without having university degrees in those courses, professional courses/certificates may just suffice rather than academic degrees especially IT. I am an Engineer (O & G industry) and I have seen that at the end of the day, your passion for what you do will give you the greatest satisfaction, not even the money you make. So, if you are already in School, please try and be the best in whatever you do and love it too. If you are not, dont just go for it because you want to be a graduate, make sure you love it! All professions are important! It is up to you....

I get angry when I read pieces of news like this one. Aside from the need to diversify into non-oil sector in other to reduce significantly the dependence on oil revenue, Government should encourage companies to find new oil as means to beef up the depleted reserves! It's there; untapped resources. Companies may need to expand their horizon, drill deeper where necessary and Government should be ready to give some tax reprieve where necessary to encourage increased exploration efforts. Production sharing contract terms should also be looked into so that E&P companies can be buoyed to invest more in technologies aimed at finding new oil.

Wrong perception! I studied in both State & Federal unis and I can say while most of us always wish to study in the Federal Uni, a lot of times, it is about the name. Ask recruiters and they will tell you that some 2.2 products in some state unis perform better in tests and interviews than 2.1 graduates of federal unis. To a large extent, the individual plays an important role in what results he/she turns out. But I must confess that some state unis are really terrible in terms of facilities and lecturers. However you must give it to state unis like LAUTECH & LASU; they are better than many Federal unis and the quality of graduates they churn out underscore this assertion.

Education, experience & skills required;

• Minimum of HND/B.Sc in computer science or related discipline with 2 years’ post NYSC work experience in similar position.

Preparing and setting up the Academy for Certification examination, courses, lectures and other uses.

Interface with external technical officers and consultants as may be assigned from time to time.

Optimising and develop the Centre for video/audio streaming and video conferencing

(b) BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE

c) Employment Agency services
d) Training and development services
e) Certification services
f) Consultancy services
g) Carry out needs assessment of the Academy in relation to the above and other emergent products.

2. Pricing:
a) Carrying out of Marketing Survey of competitors’ products and activities to determine appropriate pricing, discounts, method of payment and promo.
b) Determine and evaluate economic (class), political, social and technological environments of potential clients in arriving at affordable pricing eg penetrating pricing or high class pricing irrespective of the product value.

3. Place:
a) This will require compilations of full particulars of competitors and obtaining their manuals, promo tools e.g course outlines and flows
b) Compilation of full particulars of potential organisational and individual clients for letters of introduction, promotion and marketing appeals of all the Academy’s products and services.
c) Compilation of full particulars of schools/institutions for marketing appeals.
d) Carry out Market segmentation of clients for specific appeals and management.

4. Public Relations:
Develop:
a) Press Relations – This is necessary for favourable mention in Print Media such as Newspapers, Handbills, Magazine, and Brochures. Broadcast Media on Radio, Cable and Television.
b) Community Relations aimed at promoting the Academy in neighbouring streets and lekki Phase I in general.
c) Employee Relation – This involve Total Marketing System, ensuring all staff are capable of Marketing the products and services with or without reward. Coordinate Affiliates/Resellers/Commission Agents and Initiators.
d) Customers Relations – Initiate programmes of retention and patronage through the use of PR, Forum and Membership, Free services and training.
e) Initiate, produce and manage resources in the following formats:
Texts – Fliers, brochure, handbills and poster.
Audio – Mp3
Video – Mp4
Graphics – Photographs, images, handbills and posters

Well it's not only Engrs that work offshore. We have doctors, cooks, cleaners etc. Your friend may be a roustabout (unskilled labourer) or even a community worker, if he comes from an oil producing area.
