Be careful of having deputies with Luck in their names...Good(luck) Jonathan. now (Luck)y Aiyedatiwa....just wondering. May Aketi's soul rest in peace. |
Look at the Northern elites, do you see Buhari and Dangote's daughters covering their faces? Religious bigotry is for the poor! |
Coming from a man who left a comfortable oil and gas job and wife with a decent bank job in Nigeria and relocated to North America 5 yrs ago, I can say it makes perfect sense. However, decision to japa is a personal one and people should not be castigated for it. I can tell you that at least half of the people criticizing are actually planning their japa moves, only it has not materialized, I know them. I don't want to begin to cast aspersions at Nigeria because really I never had a single bad experience in all my years in the country. I had great fun in every area of life despite that I am grateful I reluctantly followed my wife to leave when we left. As for me, Nigeria will be great again and I plan to return to live the rest of my life there and that's why I haven't stopped investing in the country even though some advise against it So, my advice: if you feel the need to japa and you are convinced, go for it because out here if you are skilled, you will eventually succeed. If you are not skilled but hardworking and can do any legitimate job, you will also succeed. You don't want to know the number of people who never owned a plot of land before leaving Nigeria and after 5 years out here, own their own house here on mortgage ofcourse and have also sent money home to buy an apartment in Nigeria. There are also people who live in Oshogbo, Ilorin, Yenagoa etc not even Lagos or Abuja, but they're blessed and sending dollars to train their children abroad. Bottom line, you can be blessed anywhere. Just identify where works for you and go for it and like Ashake, cut off your ears! |
Wrong caption - should be "some women" A lot of women stick by their husbands cos they also know that good spouses are difficult to find abroad. It's not only women who leave, a lot of men leave their wives after japaing so, it's both ways. However there are still a lot of happy marriages abroad. Mine is one...a classic example, and I know very many others! |

The North and South should never have been amalgamated. 2 completely different kinds of people with different ideologies. They use religion when it suits their purpose. As a Christian, I don't care if we have Muslim-Muslim, I just want a government that delivers. |
marlow1962:Please be advised that the 10 pound is for 1 hr of job. At 40 hrs per week, that would be 1,600 to 1800 pounds. That's what you should be comparing to the N50,000 minimum wage. Truth is most people on minimum wage in the Western world work more than 1 job so their month ly pay before tax could be 2,500 pounds. |
TonySpike:I am well. Thanks. I can also say everyone in the group is doing well too; in our forties. Lol. |
TonySpike:The name just stuck. Yea. |
Dshocker:Wonder, Wonder, Wonder, Wonder....till you turn to Wanderer! |
See life. Chief Pius Akinyelure was Tinubu's boss at Mobil Oil. Now he will have to report to Tinubu. Tables have turned though in a good way. |
Kola was not in Kidivision 101. He had his own show which he anchored on NTA 2, channel 5 called "Reach Out" TonySpike: |
My calculation shows : 12,000 bags x 64 dericas per x 5 cups per derica = 3.84 M cups. That's just over 1 cup per resident - 1 plate of rice! Unbelievable!!! |
At least she has company now. Good and lasting friendships can develop from there. Thanks for your succint advice. Kobojunkie: |
She's a 20 year old girl studying in a university in the same city as I am. I can confirm that Nigerians have reached out to her within hours of posting this video and she's no more lonely. She even has an abundance of friends now. Thanks |

NIMASA, DPR, NAPIMS and many other government agencies should be ashamed of themselves. How can NIMASA say a rig which came into Nigeria brand new in 2012 - the finest Swamp Rig in Nigeria for a long time, has been operating illegally for 7 years!!! This is ineptitude at its peak. Rigs always get audited yearly and are supposed to provide requisite approvals as part of requirements. The Rig in question suffered a fire incident in 2017 and was repaired before being returned to operation and no one noticed in the course of recertification, prior to being placed back in operation, that it had no NIMASA approval. This Rig has been moved severally since 2016!!! Nigeria is simply a joke!!! Anyways, we await the investigation report. |
I know the Managing Director of Depthwize, Uche Dimiri and a good number of management of the company, having worked as Drilling Supervisor on the rig when it came in brand new 2012. They don't joke with HSE...never! It is unfortunate that this has happened but let's wait for the investigation report as a lot of things could have gone wrong. Accidents happen in different industries even in the most advanced countries of the world so, let's not make this a Nigerian thing. May the soul of the departed find eternal rest whilst we pray that the missing crew members are found alive. |
Northern elites always marrying within themselves, thus keeping the poor perpetually poor and easliy manipulatable for political reasons. Islie: |
While I agree it's a systemic failure but it is a collective one. Shell and other MNOCs are culpable, the government is, so are the people who inhabit these oil producing communities - the elders and leaders who are only interested in personal gains to the detriment of community development. dettolgel: |
I think people should be made to understand the business decisions Shell is making. Shell has been divesting their onshore and shallow offshore assets for more than 10 years mostly due to the need to move away from the volatile communities surrounding these assets. It's not only Shell, all multinationals have been doing this. A case in point is one OPL 2007 hitherto operated by Total but was given up by them and Conoil Producing got this asset as a PSC block and converted to OML 150 after fulfilling contractual obligations. Multinationals just prefer to focus their efforts on deep offshore activities with little or no interference by oil producing communities and prospects for profit maximization. Even ExxonMobil has divested their 4 shallow offshore assets in Eket area where Seplat seems to have picked up the juiciest of them all. It's a business decision not that they are leaving the country due to corruption or economic downturn. They institutionalized the corruption we are talking about today in any case. |
Obasanjo's cabinet still the best since the return of democracy in 1999 |
Great player but inconsistent |
•Ronke Ayuba - She was married to General Tanko Ayuba; very powerful guy in IBB's administration. •Modele Sarafa-Yusuf - Last I saw her she was working in Sports Marketing Communication at Globacom around 2010.... •Ruth Benamasia-Opia - I saw her last working in NNPC-NAPIMS around 2015 •Chris Anyanwu - I remember Abacha jailed her and was later freed. Think she went into politics. •Comfort Okoronkwo - Where is Aunty Comfort? She was our Presenter at Junior Challenge and also stood in for Aunty Marie Fatai-Williams at Speak Out a few times. Nostalgia all the way!!! |
Let me start by saying you can successfully relocate abroad at 40. I left an oil company job Nigeria at 40, relocated and within 5 years, I now have footprints not only in Nigeria but in 2 North American countries. The western world is such that you can be what you want to be cos the system is an ideal one. However, the truth is Nigeria is a promising country and lots of people in Nigeria are doing better than some people in diaspora. So, ask yourself, do you have conviction about relocating cos if you are not convinced, stay back and make it work. it's not a bed of roses in Europe or America but if you are hardworking, resilient and surround yourself with the right people in diaspora, you MUST make it! |
He s right. Soyinka can never be a great Novelist without a Nobel Price |
Yes, because he couldn't spend Oil Money like Amechi - ex Rivers Governor. Ask PDP, they will tell you how Rivers Governor Wike funded the party for years before Atiku and co returned. Gaabasky: |
That has been the story of Nigeria. We overlook the most qualified and we expect the country to be better. It would have been so easy to market PYO. He wouldn't be avoiding debates like BAT is doing. It's just unfortunate. |
Even the Famous Lie Mohamed has slowed down on feeding Nigerians with lies. So I am surprised that PMB could be so shamelss as to spewing out the greatest lie of the century in such a brazen manner. Such disrespect for the intelligence of Nigerians! |
The man owns the breast, the baby owns the milk...Fullstop! |
Just imagine if Northern Nigeria was separate from Southern Nigeria, Buhari would have no one to congratulate!!! |
It's a shame when the Devil himself tells us his good friend is a Saint. |
