Politics › Re: Buhari, Amaechi, Others Attending Council Of State Meeting by OLADD: 1:36pm On Feb 05, 2015
Omooba77:
A meeting of the Council of State where a major decision on the forthcoming general elections is expected to be taken is currently ongoing inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), is one of the nation’s former leaders attending the meeting which started at about 11:30am.

Others in attendance are former President Shehu Shagari, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd.), Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (retd.), Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar and Chief Ernest Shonekan.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is the only living Nigerian leader absent at the meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, and all service chiefs are waiting to brief the meeting.

Also in attendance are Vice President Namadi Sambo; President of the Senate, David Mark; Speaker, House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal; Attorney-General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN); Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyin Pius Anyim; National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki.

In the past years, these two demons (Ameachi and the Daura man) did not deem it necessary to attend Council of States meetings where issues bordering on national growth were discussed, but now that election in which they are participants is on the table, they suddengly made a u-turn. If I were GEJ, I will use soldiers to throw them out of the villa. Satans.

I think the forthcoming election has thrown up a lot of mysteries about us as a people. With unravelling accusations and counter-accusations, Nigerians are now in the position to either take the socalled financial experts and legal luminaries for their words or confine their opinions to refuse bins. First, it started with Sanusi who played around "missing" $48b, $20b and $10b NNPC money and now Soludo under whose watch billions of investors' monies were tatched away by the WONDER BANKS trying to ridicule the sitting govt through ridiculous, spurrios and unimaginable corruption allegations. Why can't Nigerians exhibit unwaivering gentlemanism at all times? Why do we allow political considerations to wittle down our sense of professionalism? Curiously, the likes of Femi Falana do not deem it expedient to comment on Buari's desecration of the constitution and electoral law simply because of his symphaty for APC. What's the draw-down from all this? A black man will always remain black no matter his educational attainment, age or status.

Sirniyeh:
Ahead of February 14 presidential poll, ChannelsTV station analysed the chance of General Buhari's winning through the statistics of the collected PVC in different region.

NN - 8millions PVC Collected
NE - 6millions. PVC collected
NW - 12millions. PVC collected
SS - 6millions. PVC collected
SE - 6millions. PVC collected
SW - 6millions. PVC collected

The Northern region has the highest number of PVC collected. General Buhari stands chance of 80% poll.

GMB also stands the chance of 70% of SW posts.

From this statistics, it daily becomes scary to GMB opposition as they insinuate defeat. For this reason they embark on all malpractices to influence the election date postponement.

But the authentic report reaching us here proves that election will hold as scheduled. All attempt to influence postponement will be defeated.
You're as dull as your other APC e-cockroaches. Is the NN the same as North Central?

Politics › Re: I’m Silent On National Issues Until After Elections – Obasanjo by OLADD: 9:08am On Feb 05, 2015
oludashmi:
A former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has said he will henceforth maintain silence on the state of the nation until after the forthcoming general elections.

He said this on Wednesday while addressing traditional rulers from Egbaland who were attending a seminar organised by a non-governmental organisation, The Village Network Empowerment Initiative. The seminar held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.

The former president, who had in recent times criticised President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, said it was unfortunate that some people could misconstrue his good intention for the country.

Hence, he said he had chosen to keep mum until after the elections.

Obasanjo, who also flayed the situation in which teachers in some states were being owed salaries for upward of six months, said Nigerians had an opportunity from February 14 to play their own part in enthroning leaders of their choice.

He said, “Where we are now, I have spoken. I have used body language and whoever still does not understand all I have been saying, it would take such a person a long time to understand.

“It is something that is very clear for us all to see. Some people came to visit me from Benue State three days ago and told me teachers in that state had not been paid for six months.

“There are states where teachers have not been paid for four months, three months and two months. That is not good at all. It’s only God that can help us to overcome all these problems.

“All I know is that God has done His own part and it’s now left for us as human beings to do our own bit. Do we, as Nigerians, say that God has not been magnanimous enough to us?

“Is it human or natural resources that we do not have? We are blessed with a lot of fertile land. Shakespeare says the fault is not in our stars but in ourselves that we are underlings.

“God has done his own part and it’s now left for us as human beings to play our own part. That our own part starts from the 14th and it’s now left to you and me. I won’t say more than that. I’ve said I won’t say anything anymore until after the elections.

“You’ll hear from me after the elections. But I’ve said it verbally and through body language and how you understand it all is now left to you. But whatever you still don’t understand about all of these, I will put it in prayers that God should enable you to clearly understand it all better.

“But I won’t say more than this until after the election.”

Delivering a lecture to the traditional rulers on “Waste to Wealth, Health, Biogas productions as an alternative source of energy for sustainable rural development,” the Director of the Zoo Park of the Federal University of Agriculture, Prof. Moses Oyatogun, enumerated the uses of different waste for energy production.

He advised them to take advantage of all manner of waste in their environment.

The initiator of the Village Network Empowerment Initiative Network, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, said he organised the seminar to enable the traditional rulers to acquire knowledge and exposure towards the development of their communities.

you mean buhari have been convicted in a court of law for certificate forgery? let us have the details, please. this is how internet urchins like you go about chatting nonsense you cannot defend.

so buhari executed drug traffickers? did he act contrary to the constitution of the federal republic of nigeria? in the 80s, drug trafficking attracted a capital punishment - deal with it. if you can hold a brief for drug traffickers then i shudder to think what the value of your scruples would be.
You're a typical description of a no-brainer. Fool, did Femi make reference to party affiliation in his piece? His submissions were entirely centred on personal trait comparisons and nothing more.. In simpler form, he was only comparing how presidential the two personalities are. Bringing party colouration into this will only further expose your stupidity. If not, why should your Mr. Clean be seen in company of Tinubu, the Chicago University and age falsification conman?
I am equally convinced your senses had been on errand in the past one month, if not, you should not be raising any doubt on the fact that Buhari lied under oath by claiming his certificates were with the Military when it was all hoax. If his WAEC certificate was (is) genuine, what stops him from obtaining a CTC and having it forwarded to INEC for verification? It shows how dubious you and your satanic mentor(Buhari) could be.
Zombie, nobody is disputing the fact that those executed drug traffickers did commit the crime, the bone of contention has always been; did the prevailing law as at the time of the offence stipulate death sentence? The answer is NO. So why did the tyrant take laws into his hand by pronouncing capital punishment for jail offences? If your brain is too shallow to comprehend these simple facts, then you urgently need psychosis tests.

buhari was the only leader we have had that tackled corruption and indiscipline. nigeria was heading in the right direction until his administration was truncated by IBB. for not mortgaging the souls of nigerians for a crippling IMF loans, every nigerian should vote for buhari!
The pioneer leader of Boko haram was killed during Ya'adua's regime when Jonathan was a mere VP. Aside this, nobody accused Buhari of "killing northerners" the way he did to Jonathan in his fight against Boko haram. Buhari was not advised to grant the Maitasine miscreants amnesty as Buhari did to Jonathan. And above all, maitaisine did not have political colouration and should never be compared to Boko haram by any sane human being.

As regards corruption, is it not curious that your Mr. Corruption Fighter was himself corruption personified? How could someone who forged his way into the military be regarded as " Mr.Clean"? The souls of the famous three drug traffickers Buhari executed will hunt him till death since he too was morally unqualified to lead any anti-crime drive.

Politics › Re: Osinbajo Chides Jonathan For Attending OIC Meeting by OLADD: 9:39am On Feb 04, 2015
ceejayclas:
VICE Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has chided President Goodluck Jonathan for being the first Nigerian leader to have attended the meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) since Nigeria was surreptitiously enlisted by President Ibrahim Babangida in 1986.

Osinbajo disclosed this on Tuesday, at an interactive session with professionals in Warri, Delta State.

He said those accusing the presidential candidate of the party, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, of being a Muslim fundamentalist and campaigner of Islamisation of Nigeria were doing nothing but distorting history.

“Throughout his period as military head of state, Buhari was under intense pressure to drag Nigeria into the OIC, but he never yielded, because he respects Nigeria as a secular state, in line with the constitution. Besides, his cook and driver are Christians.

“When Babangida eventually dragged Nigeria into OIC, none of his successors ever attended any of its meeting because they know to Islamise Nigeria is very difficult, as you need to first get the constitution amended. That process, you know, is almost impossible.

“But it is on record that in 2013, President Jonathan, undermining the constitutional limitation, ensured that Nigeria attended an OIC meeting,” he declared.

Following attacks on PDP members after their campaign in Yobe which resulted in loss of lives, I have keenly observed a drop in the number of people that attended today's rallies in Kogi and Niger states. Can we reasonably conclude that such a precedence portends danger for our politics and existence as a nation? If our collective answer is in the affirmative, do we still have any iota of doubt on how sympathetic Boko haram is to the opposition? Can we also infer that the sect is working in connivance with political elements to ensure President Jonathan is not returned as president-elect in February? I am not a card carrying member of PDP but as a concerned citizen, the series of attacks suffered in the hands of Boko haram by the party in the last one year commands my attention and I forsee a dangerous trend that has the potential to truncate Nigeria's democracy if care is not taken. ninjasta:
Yoruba Leadership Forum has urged all Nigerians, regardless of tribes or religious beliefs, to vote for the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, as the group has adopted him as their preferred candidate.

In a statement signed by the forum’s Secretary General, Akin Malaolu, Buhari was adopted because he has met their leadership capacity for its adoption.

It reads: “We thank all our members nationwide and also delegates of the All Progressive Congress, who converged in Lagos to choose amongst themselves a presidential candidate.

“We have followed through the course of events leading to the nomination of Mohammadu Buhari and we are happy that the processes were both transparent and democratic. We accept the choice of this honest and strong-willed statesman.

“Precisely in 2011 and at the presidential election, our leadership forum adopted General Mohammdu Buhari and in companionship with our people as our choice and we voted impressively for him, but the results of the 2011 presidential election were skewed to favour the incumbent President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in several ways.

“Without doubts and speculations, Jonathan did not make those percentages awarded to him in Sokoto, Yobe, Enugu, Zamfara, Bauchi, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kogi, Ekiti, Oyo, Adamawa, Borno, Katsina, Plateau, Taraba, Gombe and Nassarawa states.

“We were fully conscious that the victory was stolen by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and this led to violence.

“Today and in companionship with our entire Yoruba people, including all leaders, we wish to state clearly and categorically that General Mohammadu Buhari has again met our leadership capacity for his adoption as the candidate to vote for in the 2015 presidential election.

“We, therefore, urged all Nigerians, regardless of tribes or religious beliefs, to honour Buhari with their votes so that the ring of thieves, who have turned our commonwealth into private properties, can be defeated to save our country, Nigeria, and move her away from our present gloomy foreboding with comforting speed.”

Has Buhari Shot Himself In The Foot? by Chinedu Rylan

At some point it all looked like Gen. Buhari and his All Progressives Congress (APC) team would pose a deadly serious threat to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and wreck their chances of returning the incumbent President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to power come May 29. But all the early good works and concerted efforts to win the sympathy and support of the masses, and gain their votes have been undone, almost single-handedly by the party itself.

Few weeks ago, it was safe to say that the winner of the February 14 Presidential election was anyone’s guess, bearing in mind that the two frontrunners in the elections were – and still are – neck-and-neck in terms of the number of core supporters they have been able to amass. Both, however, would have – and may still be – banking on the support of millions of undecided eligible Nigerian voters whose minds were yet to be made up on who to support and who not to support. Unfortunately, it now seems that the bulk of those erstwhile undecided voters are moving further away from the Progressives, if online sentiments and those in the streets are anything to go by.

I’ve come across several previously undecided voters, both online and offline, who are now almost certain that they will camp under the Umbrella. I went ahead to require of them what informed their decisions and almost all of them were united in their rationales for settling for the PDP. Assuming that I queried 50 persons about their reasons for shifting to the PDP, 45 of them told me that the APC and Muhammadu Buhari have played into the arms of the PDP.

Now, how has the APC and Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) played into the hands of the People's Democratic Party?

The PDP in their campaign trails and in their online push for reelection have never failed to remind us of how intolerant of any form of opposition, ideological or otherwise, GMB has been. They went as far back as his 1983-85 military regime where he put a host of opposing voices behind bars to buttress their point. One would have expected that the general, as a seasoned and elite politician that he is, would in response guard his utterances and be more watchful of what he says or does in the public and to the media, but the reverse has so far been the case.

In a protest letter recently channeled through the legal director of the APC Presidential Campaign Organization, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume (SAN), General Buhari threatened to file a lawsuit against the federal government-owned Nigerian Television Authority and the privately owned African Independent Television for what he described as “hate documentaries” against him that were aired in the tail end last month by the stations, unless they retract them and issue a formal apology. Such threats and disposition by an aspiring office holder (or even a serving office holder) are rather uncalled for in a democratic setting. The world over, leaders and politicians are scrutinized and castigated by the media on a daily basis and it’s seen as part of their obligations as watchdogs in the society.

If world leaders should file a lawsuit for every alleged calumny or supposed act of “hate” they've been subjected to, then the mountain of lawsuits that would be filed by the likes of Barack Obama, David Cameron, Vladimir Putin or even our very own Goodluck Jonathan will take several generations of humanity to tackle. These leaders are lampooned on a daily basis yet you rarely hear them threatening to sue anyone for it. His own case shouldn't be any different. So my advice to the General is that the sooner he develops a thick skin to withstand all the media "assault," the better for him, because he will be receiving a truckload of it should he eventually win.

In like manner, the leadership of the APC is doing their presidential and vice presidential aspirants and their image as a whole no good by backing out of a series of debates organized by different corporate bodies and organizations within the country in the run-up to the Valentine’s Day polls. Their no-show at the Nigerian Elections Debate Group (NEDG)’s Vice Presidential debates and their anticipated no-show at the presidential debates to be organized by the trio of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN), Arise News and ChannelsTV do nothing to gainsay the allegation leveled against them by the People’s Democratic Party of being fight shy of a public face-off in which they will have to tackle tough questions and defend their manifestos and party agenda before Nigerians.

Though the APC has come out to deny this allegation and have done their best to repudiate the "dodging theory" of the PDP by citing perceived bias on the part of the organizers of the debates as their reason for backing out, the average and neutral Nigerian on the streets is not buying it. The rebuttal has done very little to convince neutrals who are beginning to toe the PDP’s line. My advice to them is that they should vet their options and come up with a positive decision in time, before the election sets in.

For the sake of time and space, I will stop at these. These and many more PR missteps and political miscalculations have conspired to put the party in a precarious position and rob them of the people's goodwill which they once owned. In an election that will likely be decided by the undecided voters, the APC are fast losing speed and direction. Concerted efforts must be made to repair what has already been damaged and put their push for the country's top job back on track, else they run the risk of losing by a wide margin at the poll.

http://saharareporters.com/2015/02/02/has-buhari-shot-himself-foot
Though I detest anything from Sahara Reporters, this exposé is however an apparent attestation of the general feelings amongst many Nigerians. The fact that APC has lost and still loosing grounds on the basis of the party's haphazard handling of Buhari's certificate quagmire and debate hullabaloo is evident for all to see. As regards Buhari's threat to sue AIT, NTA and other broadcast stations, it's as empty as APC as a party. Why haven't they put paid to their numerous threats after the Osun election? I thought Lair Mohammed once threatened to sue the DSS for detaining him. Imagine if the president decides to sue Barcanista, Berem and other APC e-warriors on Nairaland! This is a fair indication of acute cluelessness syndrome currently afflicting that confraternity called APC and its leadership.

Thee APC is not happy that the military is now winning the war against terrorism. Not even a little commendation from them is heard. Nigerians, be wise. By their fruits, ye shall know them.
You are absolutely right. God will deliver us from Buhari, APC and the born-to-rule politicians.

Middle Belt Dialogue (MBD), an umbrella body of all ethnic nationalities in the middle belt has said that although President Goodluck Jonathan the failed the Middle Belt after voting en masse for him during the last elections, the region wont fare better under All Progressives Congress, Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (rtd).

The Group in a communiqué signed by Hon. Aminu Zang, Mr. Lanre Obafemi, Mr. Mark Jacob and the facilitator of the MBD, Mr. Rima Shawulu Kwewum and made available to journalists yesterday in Kaduna after its strategic summit which held in Jos said middle belt citizens will be rewarding Boko Haram if Buhari is elected as president.

“We have watched in awe as hostile regions and personalities to Jonathan, particularly in the north, attract, secure or corner appointments and projects.

“It is obvious that as a result of our huge political investment by our communities in 2011, they have been exposed to unimaginable genocide and consequent untold hardship, while governments at the state and federal levels have appeared indifferent to the suffering of our people.

“As a result of the genocide, agriculture which hitherto had been the mainstay of the Middle Belt and a major source of economic stability of our people has been ruthlessly disrupted thereby laying the foundation for food insecurity in the country at large.

“Comparable to operations of the supporters of APC during the slave trade era, Fulani militias and Boko-Haram have ravaged and destroyed our communities, attacking serene, quiet settlements in the Middle Belt, thereby killing thousands of people between 2011 to 2014 and sacking hundreds of villages, ensuring that our communities and people were displaced from their regular homelands before the 2015 elections.

“If our people have been so single-mindedly targeted for genocide at a time that the patrons of the Fulani militia and Boko Haram are not in power, how much more would they be able to do should their patrons be put in charge of the federal government?

“Although the federal government allegedly provided funds to state governments to pay compensation to victims of the 2011 post-election violence, it is clear that governors across the north circulated these funds to the communities that perpetrated the violence, destruction and killings.

“The churches and Christian victims have not been rebuilt nor has such compensation been extended to families of victims. No political party or candidate shall be given unconditional support by the Middle Belt.

“Upon careful consideration of the issues above, and the need to invest in the safety and future stability of the Middle Belt, the summit resolved to support the candidature of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election on clearly articulated conditions that the secretariat of the MBD has been mandated to negotiate with the president.

“The political independence of our people is too precious to be sacrificed in appeasing those who believe that our people should not have access to political power.

“The summit therefore unanimously resolved that irrespective of our political leanings, all ethnic nationalities should vote en mass and ensure the success of President Jonathan at the polls in the February 14, presidential election.

“While we are obviously not completely satisfied with Jonathan, we will be eroding our freedom and would be paying/rewarding Boko Haram by even remotely considering the possibility of voting for Buhari.”

Some people have read in between the lines while some are yet to see the apparent connectivity of Boko Haram to APC, thank God the Middle Belt is not among the uninformed.

Cluelessness of this administration knows no bound. If elections are postponed by 6months, GEJ would have been in power for more than 4 years, thereby violating the constitution and making his authority illegal. He also needs the constitution changed to accommodate a-4& 1/2 yr presidency.. Changing the constitution takes more time and resources than holding an election..
Your own cluelessness knows no bound. Are you claiming to know more than the govt in the area of constitionalism? I am also not on the side of those clamouring for the poll shift but if it happens, there are provisions in the constitution that covers such exigency. Don't mislead Nigerians.
