The Office of the First Lady is an unconstitutional creation. Ideally, Jonathan's salary should be used in cathering for his wife. The first lady should have no direct allocation from the budget, except on state functions. Am afraid, Ayo Ositelu's job is an unconstitutional one.

What an unserious bunch. Dwelling on failure instead of picking themselves up and facing reality. If you have failed jamb, clear out any thoughts of university this year. Work harder for next JAMB and be a proud jambito. Enough of these senseless ramblings. The ones who passed dont have 8 heads.

I see no reason y a student will mark 1 tin on d question paper and then shade another on d o.m.r bro the truth be told... a teacher that is close to a student am not talking about d classroom relationship, will know the students strenght even better than the parents
No. You're not a thoughtful person. Its not my fault that you cannot reason along. You probably havent done as much exams as I've done. Exams like JAMB cannot be generic. They need to be able to catch out even the most brilliant students. The questions may be presented as easy, but trust me, there's a catch in every question. Only the gifted will spot it. Those gifted ones get high marks. The ones who are not reasonable will not spot it and come out of exam hall making noise how easy the exam is. Even from this thread, many of you guys have shown very little understanding of simple lines of thoughts, talk-less of a JAMB paper set by experienced uni lecturers who specialise in picking out what students dont know.

viccipedia: if you say a teacher cannot vouch for his student that is like saying a father cannot vouch for his son... dnt see any point in wat u hav said
Vouching for exam result is not within the teacher's duty. His duty is to teach and teach well. What happens when the student faces the question is between the student and the paper only! JAMB I know contains a lot of very tricky questions set to catch out unsuspecting students. How a teacher can vouch for a student shading the right answer is beyond me.

mathefaro: Lyk I said earlier, this year's utme wasn't a matter of how a candidate prepares because the questions were so cheap and students all came home after the exam celebrating because they were sure of what they did(after months of thorough preparation) which I confirmed, only to see something different in their result. So what are you saying? I can stand for my students any day, anytime. Let jamb produce their jamb scripts and prove how these ridiculous results came to be.
I do not know your qualifications as a teacher, but I think it is rather unintelligent to vouch for a student you didnt sit the exam with. No teacher does that! No sensible teacher at least. I passed through a university where integrity is guarded. I had times I left exam hall waiting for a 90% only to see 55%. When I ask for the photocopy of my scripts and go through it, I see tiny, silly mistakes which have caused me to be marked down.
A teacher like you should be at the forefront of guiding students to start preparing for next year Jamb. You will be heavily humiliated if you keep vouching for students this way. You're probably one of those thinly breaded teachers responsible for this mass failure.

These are GEJ's sponsored Northerners. Try to whip up ethnic sentiments in the South and amongst Christian Northerners. Pity is the only reason GEJ will be returned. It worked in 2011, it wont work in 2015.
GEJ has used all the goodwills of a pauper being haunted by the 'ferocious North'. I'm a full blooded Yoruba, and will NEVER EVER vote GEJ again. I supported him in 2011, but anything other than GEJ is OK for 2015. He lost my last sympathy the day he appointed Anenih to NPA.

Well, this thread has shown why there is such massive failure. Students who pay very little attention to details or corrections are unfit for any tertiary institution. Students who cannot put forward a valid argument without name-calling do not belong in Nigerian university.
Congratulations to the hardworking few who made it. You are the official 'jambites'. The intelligent ones who fail the first time know exactly what to do.
The lazy ones who gloat in self-denial can continue calling me names. I have passed through university with a distinction, you haven't. Unfortunately there's no amnesty in universities. Failures just cannot get in.

You've stayed on this topic all day trying to justify your failure. If you were sensible, you would have started looking for past papers, remove yourself from nairaland and start solving those past papers.
It is rather shameful that most of you who failed jamb have stayed on this topic all day trying to console your failure. It was a bad read when your results were being dropped. It's even more pathetic your responses to failure.

Obviously the teaching standard is dropping, the students arent putting enough efforts in. Lets be honest with ourselves, the number of intelligent students in Nigeria is dropping. This is evident even here on Nairaland. Strange that less than 20 people in the whole of Nigeria got over 300. That's a shame. I think I got 257 and wanted medicine in Ife. My parents said I had to sit at home to prepare well till I got better marks enough to merit a place. I guess most students are being offered options which cut corners on excellence. This should not be the case.
All of you who have failed this year should be made to practice for another year, reapply for JAMB, and take the exam again. If you fail, keep trying.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: What Course Would You Not Advise Anyone To Study? by olapluto(m): 4:28pm On May 01, 2013
This kind of thread exposes our backwardness as a nation/people. All courses are important, as they all target different aspects of our existence. It is unfortunate that Science (and engineering) is almost dead in Nigeria. I see no reason why a graduate of Yoruba language should work in a bank. Yoruba, for example, is a markettable language. There are over a billion journals in science, none yet translated to Yoruba.
The only problem is the way our educational system has remained stagnant. If we were a dynamic people, we will have many diverse specialised areas of study which will be absolutely important to our existence.

In other developments, a seasoned Ghanaian football administrator admits Ghana has been cheating for ages:
Veteran Ghanaian football administrator, Abbey Pobey claims the country can never win a title at the Under-17 level following the introduction of the MRI age-cheating test.

The Black Starlets recorded their worst defeat at the junior level in their country’s rich footballing history when they were hammered 6-1 by perennial rivals Nigeria in their opening match at the ongoing African Under-17 Championship in Morocco.

The Ghanaians were completely dazed by Nigeria who recorded their heaviest win over their opponent at the junior level in Marrakesh.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducted an MRI test on all the players of the eight teams before the start of the championship.

Nine players including three Nigerians, three Ivorians and three Congolese failed to beat technology.

However a depleted Nigerian side were too hot for the Ghanaians to handle and the Neoplan Stars owner claims the country will struggle to win any title on the continent with the introduction of the age-cheating test.

“We shouldn’t tickle ourselves and laugh. I am saying that we can never win any title if we use the right ages,” Pobey claimed on Happy FM

“We have to understand that we have cheated at the U17 level for many years and we must now adjust to the new system.

“It’s a good start for us. We should look at the growth of the players and expects to win titles at the senior level but never at the junior level.

“Take it from me, we can never win the U17 again if we don’t cheat. I wasn’t surprise we lost to Nigeria.

“My only disappointment was that we lost by that humiliating margin. But the truth of the matter is that if we use our right ages, we can never win.

“I think Ghanaians should get use to that so we can continue to focus on building on their talents for future prospects.”
CAF introduced the MRI test ahead of the start of this year’s competition in order to combat the widespread issue of age-cheating.
The competition which has been thought to contain over- aged players for many years is now separating ‘the chaff from the wheat’ by employing the use of a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to scan the wrist of the players thereby determining the bone density.
Health › Re: Should Non-doctors Head health Institutions? by olapluto(m): 12:06pm On May 01, 2013
I had this discussion with a Ghanaian friend. Health management is not exclusive to medical doctors. In fact, nowadays, the role of doctors is narrowing down to exclusive surgeries. Every other aspect can be handled by nurses, midwives and others. Serious doctors will want to be better in their field and not dabble into admin.
Lets look at it from the MPH, Master of Public Health degree. That is a more admin related course, and the requirements is for anyone who has done medical sciences. That in itself is a subtle admission that medical administration is not solely for medical doctors.
Politics › Re: Boko Haram Militants Showing Off Weapons From An Army Barack Raid (VIDEO) by olapluto(m): 10:21am On Apr 30, 2013
NAHHH! I'm too intelligent for this Boko Haram propaganda. I grew up around army barracks and how easy is it to get to the armoury, cart away so much weapons, and drive out alive? In other to enter an army barracks, you must first pass the soldiers at the gate. If you succeed in killing them, then the whole barracks is triggered, there will be war!The first place to be protected will be the armoury. Those who believe this surely do not know Nigerian Army well. Which barracks was so porous to be raided in this time of high security? Those weapons look more like Gaddaffi's weapons than Nigerian weapons.
Having said that, I think the only war BH is winning is the propaganda war. This I blame solely on the army's mode of operation and the current politics in Nigeria. The net is tightening on BH so fast. I'm not a fan of Jonathan, but I think the Nigerian army is FINALLY hurting BH. I believe by now, most of our JTF soldiers are well aware of BH tactics. Gone are the days of surprise guerilla attacks.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Share Your Job Interview Experiences by olapluto(m): 12:23pm On Apr 29, 2013
First 'adult' job interview was for GSK (as a research scientist) here in UK. I passed all the initial interviews (company knowledge, ethics, etc etc). The first face-to-face interview was the toughest 1 hour of my life until then. I am usually very relaxed and casual. The interviewer probably saw this and pounced on me!
It was a technical interview. Initial greetings done, he brought out 2 blank A4 papers. Then opened a set of questions in front of me. Gave me a pen and said I should start solving them. I had to take a deep breath and I started. He said it will take me 1 hour, but in my mind, I knew I could finish it in 25 minutes max. So I started...
First thing I wrote, he probed me on that. I had to explain everything I write verbally to him. I had to present alternative strategies, the possible side effects, and possible health and safety issues. I didnt know when 1 hour elapsed and I hadnt answered half of the questions.
He said he liked me and we should continue the interview. After almost 2 hours, we reached the final question. By this time, my eyes were really blurry red and I could barely make my way to the door. I had been intellectually wallopped. He called me 3 days after to say I am on a waiting list, in case the first 2 guys dont want the job. I didnt get the job! But the experience taught me a lot. After that, I'd been successful in 90% of interviews I go for.
