just an observation.

the same way the MYTV patch will not work on the H transponder, the same thing goes for the ajazeera+ when used with H transponder. i had to change the position of my LNB to find this out.

there's offical firmware release and the unofficial one. even satmac and satuniverse label some releases as official. srsupport files are official ones, i advise anyone that does not like living dangerously to stick to it.

I have come across a dealer who is selling a Strong Decoder, SRT4822XII. It has a CA slot for MyTV card, one Common Interface Slot and PVR via USB. It is retailing for US$124, plus another US$50 for an Irdeto CA Module. Since I have not previously used strong receivers, what should I check to know if its an original Strong Product? Thanks.

check that there's a serial no, CE printed and not stickered to the back and then the made in china sticker. they are all located between the AV input and the COM port.

You will need rs 232 cable for you to be able to upgrade your srt 4650 receiver.  If you check around page 60 - 70 of the last season, this was discussed. or better still, check the FAQ on FTA where i reproduced the post.
On how to get the cable, it depend on where you reside, if you are in abuja as I am, then I can be of great help.  But as soon as you get the rs232 cable, i am sure any member of the forum will be too willing to tell you how to go about it.

apart from the cable, you will need the stb loader since it does not have USB, once you once the software that you want to use, just lunch the loader and chazam you are there.

@olofofo, thanks for the ali3329c update posted in the G group it really came handy as srsupport.com as not released any. The file you posted is a rar file,  for the benefit of those who doesn't  have rar file extractor may be you should upload one, i would have love to do it but presently i dont have a good internet connectivity.  What is multichoice up to, why do they want to instal nilesat at their office and i dont think they need a local installer to do that as they have their own team of engineers.

.rar format is for portability, here's a link to where you can get winrar www.rarlab.com, besides Google has issues with .bin and .exe extensions.

Al-Jazeera Said to Mull Bid for English Premier League TV Rights

Al-Jazeera Network, the Qatar-based broadcaster that started a sports channel five years ago, may bid for the rights to show English Premier League soccer matches in the Middle East, two people with knowledge of the talks said.

The network is in talks with the league about the rights, which cover three years beginning with the 2010-2011 season, they said. They declined to be identified as the bidding process hasn’t started yet.

A deal may help Al-Jazeera lure more viewers to its sports channel and bolster advertising sales. Al Jazeera Sports, which can be watched in countries across the Middle East and North Africa, already broadcasts Spain’s La Liga and Italy’s Lega Calcio Serie A. The broadcaster also has the rights for the UEFA Champions League from 2009 to 2012.

Last time the rights were sold, Al-Jazeera lost out to pay- TV network Showtime Arabia, which shows live matches across the Middle East and North Africa. Dubai, United Arab Emirates-based Showtime Arabia is owned by investment firm Kuwait Projects Co. and Viacom Inc., the U.S. media company controlled by Sumner Redstone.

The Premier League said it will invite broadcasters to bid for the rights to show the games outside Britain once the local rights sale has been completed. The league last month sent out invitations to tender for the domestic rights for the three seasons from 2010 to 2013.

Al-Jazeera’s English soccer offering has so far been limited to FA Cup, the national knock-out competition.

International Rights

A spokesman for Al Jazeera didn’t immediately respond to calls and an e-mail seeking comment. Dan Johnson, a spokesman for the Premier League, said the process for the sale of international broadcast rights had yet to begin.

Premier League teams on average get about half their revenue from broadcast agreements that have ballooned in the past decade. The current U.K. deal for Premier League rights, worth about 1.7 billion pounds ($2.6 billion) over three years, expires in 2010.

The league’s total broadcast agreements, which include international rights, are worth 2.7 billion pounds over three seasons, ranking it as the world’s richest soccer league. The most popular teams and players, such as Manchester United and its Portuguese-born star Cristiano Ronaldo, have a global following.

Al-Jazeera, which means “The Island” in Arabic, began operations in 1996 and is financed with money from the Emir of Qatar, advertising sales and cable subscription fees. Besides the original Arabic-language flagship channel, Al-Jazeera now runs other channels including Al Jazeera Sports and an English- language news channel.

The choice of what you buy is really yours. a lot of people love the convenience that comes with a USB enabled devide, but mostly the problem is that they a bit more expensive but compensates for the other functionlitiees. starsat is good receiver with a different GUI but belive me when i tell you this, it is the same with the echolink that we use. here's list of the types of decoders that you can surrently use the JUJU CARD on, i sincerely hope that i can exhaust this page and quickly move us to season 3.

can anyone confirm that darsat is on Intelsat 901 at 18.0°W?

regarding the arguments over which is better between echolink and starsat, what one might want to consider is the support, if you notice how many decoders on their support page and how so many of them are not currently being supported.

3020 IR PLUS is still the most supported right now as you will see from their website. it belongs to the same class of ali C which is 3329c Beta version. the starsat X6300cu and 5300 cu also belong to this class. meanwhile the X7100Cu which the moderator has belong to the epsilon class of decoder

if you are considering buying a usb version of echolink you might want to try the EL-5060 2CA USB which is a new product with USB support.

but note this fact. there is no official support site for starsat decoders unlike the echolink and benefit right now is because the starsat we get are clones of the the available echolink. just think of time when there will be no starstat version of the echolink we have. I pray that day does not come.

what trend sells is the decoder. no card at all, it is hardcoded into the decoder, u buy the decoder and you pay monthly subscription.
