excanny:Good point here. But you should know that this is Nigeria and such ethnic mix ups are not by accident, they are deliberately used to force/foster national unity, which I dont know if they have achieved. Just like the Ika, ikwerre etc which has generated issues for years. The Yoruba pple in kogi (Okun) claims Yoruba cos we speak the same lang but they have their own dialect just like any other part of Yoruba (I know some), so no prob about that. |
They can claim whatever they desire. As long as they're ready to move out when the country breaks. Hopefully, they're not expecting us to leave a piece of our land for them. That would be very tragic.
lol Jarus:Jebba nigers fall within Niger state. that is, after the river niger bridge which is the boundary of kwara and Niger state while Jebba kwara are within kwara state, just at the river niger bridge. The River niger bridge is the breaking force btw the Jebba niger and Jebba kwara, so Nupes that fall within kwara should be the one they refer to as Jebba kwara. All the same, they (jebba kwara and jebba niger) are Nupes and acknowledge that they belong to Niger. |
DapoBear:I think jarus got that mixed up cos Northern and Southern protectorate only became married in 1914. Anyway, kwara is a Yoruba land but there are Nupes in parts of Jebba and Fulanis just as he stated. @Jarus Do you know one funny thing. . . in my last visit to Jebba, the Nupes said they do not belong to kwara state (if not for the nigerian government) but Niger state. They recalled how their fathers were moved to kwara state cos the government (I ve forgotten the name of the head of state as at then) wanted to use their land. They still maintain that they only follow orders from Niger state and not kwara state. |
Ileke, what Jarus is saying is that kwara pple are 100% Yorubas ethnically and culturally but northerners under Nigeria's geographical classification. Just as some ibos are not grouped under the SE. |
Oludashmi, lunch wo lo owe e? Ibo lo ti ri ibi ti awon Yoruba kan kan s'ebi pe omo Hausa- Fulani ni wan? @OP I first heard this in Jebba (kwara state) from indegenes, and also from Lagos based kwara indegenes So, it is news to non-kwara indegenes Many in kwara still recall while growing, how Saraki migrated to kwara from Ogun state decades ago and . . . . ![]() |
alj harem:I owe you a lunch |
Pathetic! R.I.P |
It should be 'Itunu' but probably pronounced in an Ondo/Ekiti/Ilesha dialect cos most of their 'i' are 'u'. 'Itunu' means 'Comfort' |
Onlytruth:The boldened is by your personal statistics thru your keyboard Nigerians/Africans are polygamous. Every living man is polygamous by nature, if given same measure of wealth, exposure, freedom etc and no culture in Nigeria/Africa opposes polygamy. But thanks to the new generation men and Christianity. |
R.I.P Bawomolo I always liked to read his post when scrolling thru threads and replies on nairaland, even if I had nothing to say. I saw this on friday but thought it was one of those funny threads and that the guy will show up to turn the thread to a joke, but first thing I saw this morning shocked me so much and I couldnt hold my tears. My heart wish him R.I.P. Ileke take heart, you make me feel it more. @all NL judges It pains to see how insensitive pple can be. . and surprising the way pple come to a conclusion that some other fellow will not make heaven just cos of the clashes they had one time or the other . . .funny enough, 99% church goers are mere religious and hypocrites. . . remember, it could be you, or even your relative, would you have asked a corpse the last time he prayed? If many Christians/Muslims die today, their neighbours would rush to the nearest joint or club house. How many Christians/Muslims have received the kind of eulogy as much as Fela, Tai Solarin. Micheal Jackson etc. And the fact that you criticize him makes you worse than he was (if at all he was bad, but history didnt tel us that). |
Andre Uweh: Andre Uweh: Andre Uweh: Andre Uweh:Andrew!! ChineyeN only said "yawn". Anyway, I am not disappointed as long as it is you. . . .reason I once said, going by your usual replies and the fact that you are married, then, NL teenagers are over due for marriage. |
by their names, you shall know them |
chines4:Guy? 1. Toothpick!! We can get this right if power is fixed, a lot of Nigerians have varied ideas that can announce them and the country as a whole but how do we achieve them without power, if not the business will go under. 2. We have more than enough piece of land to plant cassava for our selves and neighbouring countries but all still boil down on power and logistics (good roads). Besides, imported foods/goods will be more expensive than locally made ones if power/supports is in place. 3. We cant feed ourselves so we should import foods. OK. We cant secure ourselves, should we request for US police to come and secure us? We cant produce competent graduates, should we close down all higher institutions and employ only from Ghana? We cant do thorough and successful investigation, should we cancel our SSS and get FBI? We dont have good leaders, should we ask that the British come and take over again? The list is endless . . . cos there is virtually anything this country can do at the moment until few things are put in place. My pple say, chopping off the head, is not the solution to headache. |
Hmmnn ![]() Importation of cassava unbanned Importation of toothpick unbanned Importation of textiles unbanned But these are things we already produce or can produce very well in this country if only they can fix the power supply. Still surprised why some pple see this as progressive |

Little token of appreciation with $50000 Seeing posts like yours in the morning really affects my day but strengthens my feelings that Nigeria is heading no where cos the youths are even worse than the elders. |
marvix:I guess you are joking ![]() Transportation to where will cost $50000 and did they even ask him for it? If pple donated for Jonathan, who where the pple who did it? Where did they get the money from? Is it not the same public funds that they are re-cycling? If this is a true response from you, I wont be surprised cos I ve always said the worst of Nig is yet to come. Does he think he can buy the SNG cos they supported him during the Yar'Adua stuff . . .sorry oo, they are not with anyone forever, they see the truth and say it at once, you may be their next target. |
NIGERIA is not a nation, but a mere geographical representation of some ethnic groups found somewhere in West Africa and forcefully authourised to stay under the shackles of the name. No matter how anyone tries, the truth is that from top to down and down to top, we will always see each other as different people but under the pretense of NIGERIANS. Some people say our individual attitudes should change, this is TRUE but the announcer himself will not change how much more the 150,000,000 people. Or how easy is it for a parent to change the attitude of a teenage son or daughter, most times impossible. Corruption is the order of the day in Nigeria, forget about politics, even in our offices and businesses. The so called corruption will increase by the day (forget about the repainting/rebranding of a dilapidated house) and even a serious revolution will only pause it, cannot stop it. Until we are allowed to bear the names we used to bear and stand for the people we used to be before the (berlin conference) and before the arrival of Lord Lugard and his wife, we aint seen nothing yet (pls no offense and not a curse). |

So you now the official NL igbo stalker?. You go to registries to check the no of Igbos who divorce their spouses per month?. Why not expend that time and energy nto something that will improve your life?. People get time o.@Aloy Emeka God forbid, I am not. Did you read that in the post or you are insinuating? Didnt you see that it was meant to correct her (ebonyvibe) statement that igbo women kill their husbands young as retaliation cos they wouldnt take divorce? Go back and read. Do you know my profession? You need to learn. |
@kokoye I like your points. What should matter most to us is the care we give to our parents and beloved ones while they were alive cos that is the best respect, appreciation, burial and love we can give to them. Many of the aso-ebi we buy after their departure are just a waste of time and if the dead were to rise again and comment, many of them will curse their children and even send curses to their generations to come. That is why I give it to the hausas when it comes to burial . . .they just come together, weep, mourn by sitting in cycles, most times on the floor (their tradition), bury the guy and ends it. Only on rare cases they eat or drink. This shows real sense of loss. |
meyri:Gbam! But the man bears Sunday, could it be that he changed from Christianity to Traditional? ![]() |
