SALVATION- one topic that is missing in churches.
mabell:
That's not true. Pls be specific, it does not happen in all churches like you have stated In the church i attend, i hear it like every day i go to church It's such a serious matter that if i have the opportunity to be with fellow brethren outside church, they still talk about it and tell people about Jesus So stop spreading false news
He is not spreading false news but the truth cos he did not say salvation is missing in all churches. I believe he is looking at 90%. If yours still preach salvation all the time, have it in mind that many others have abandoned that word.
Like the poster said, churches now focus on devil, witches, familiar spirits, wizards and enemies, at every individual ignorance and carelessness. . . making pple fear the devil and care less about God. Concentrating on prosperity and how to attack the devil and their enemies (sometimes families and neighbours) instead of showing love, focusing and fearing God. |
Religion / Re: How Has Your Walk With God Been? by oludashmi(f): 11:46am On Jan 18, 2011 |
nuella2:
Christianity is the earth walk of the new creation, after a man get born again, GOD left him here to , reconcile men to him, fulfill his purpose and win in the midst of challenges through his word. How has your walk with God been? I believe Christians in this forum, has great testimonies to share. How they have triumphed in the face of challenging situations. Your story could just be what will make other Christians remain standing assured in Christ today.
My walk with God has being beautiful, my parents never went to church, so as a child a wondered from church to church. Until some group of Christians shared the gospel with me, wow! i got born again. Then trouble started, my father threatened to disown me, stop paying my fees and the persecution at home was terrible, but i stood my ground, i told him i rather drop out of school than stop going to church. Today everybody in my family is born again. God is faithful.
In my early years in the university, I almost got distracted as a met a very wealthy man, who before i could say a word, bought me a car. Wow! Promised to take me abroad and on and on. what a temptation, but have being taught that am a seed of Abraham, i own the world, i KNEW i was rich already been rich was beyond owing a car,i cld not accept the gift so returned the car, another round of persecution started. Friends and relatives mocked me, cos they felt i was brainwashed, they felt God sent the man as a blessing. Months later the man left that city without a word, cos the police was after him. Christ! What if i got involved with that man?
Brethren, in this walk we collide with challenging situations like David and Goliath, but God is always faithful. The first job i got, i was given an official car. There is no hurry is life, don’t take any short cuts, follow him step by step cos faithful is he that has called you.
How has your walk with God been?
Love your story. . .its inspiring |

Romance / Re: Help! I'm Above 30 And Under Pressure To Get Married by oludashmi(f): 11:10am On Jan 18, 2011 |
Focus on your career create achievements for yourself improve on your physical appearance every single day. All these things will keep you busy and your mind off your single status. And who knows, someone will get to notice you esp when you have made something of yourself. In short: work on every aspect of your life, marriage may then come before you know it. Perfectly said by meadan In addition, pray and when you are sure/convinced that God has answered you, dont pray about it again, instead thank God all the time cos you know it is done. Calm your spirit but anytime it occurs to you, smile to yourself and say it is done.
Reduce your standard of the kind of man you want, no man is perfect just as you are not, if you can get 60%, its ok. As for parents pressurising you, tell them boldly to be calm and wait for your appointed time so that you dont make mistake due to their pressure . . . and for friends, boldly tell them there is a season and time for everyone and when your time is come, you will send them an invite (then they will stop asking you) . |

If any woman do this to her mother-in-law, no matter what may have caused the fight who was at fault, the husband should beat her immediately or when he comes back.
If she imagines her mother-in-law was her mother, she wont do that cos no matter what her mum do to her, she wont be able to raise her hands. For a woman to be in a serious rift with her mum shows she still sees her mother-in-law as a stranger in the house. |

I'm still amazed at the term "bouncing baby". Wouldn't one have to drop a baby from a height to see if he / she bounced? And I'm sure Tgirl would never do that! More appropriate would be "a healthy baby girl."

rabzy:
Hey, i don't think it started 15 years ago, the Binis have always been wearing beads for long, uromi where the Woman comes from is in Esan and we don't wear as much beads as the Binis. Also such heavy beads are often worn by the nobility, the King, chiefs and the King's wives,
such wearing of the beads as a vest might have been restricted to the royalty, but the advent of modernization and popular fashion has made it very common.
If you check out pictures of Bini Kings and also several carvings, you would notice heavy beads on them, so it wont be surprising if their wives also have such elaborate beads made for them.
I confirmed the boldened from her and she said it is true. . .so you are right She said modernization must be the reason it is now generally used cos she started noticing it in the late 90's/2000 |

@Ileke I have an elderly edo woman (Urhomu) here, seeing all the beautiful pix including the ones on the traditional wedding thread. She said the heavily beading of hair and the weaved bead across the chest, started not more than 15 years ago cos as at their own time even when she got married about 23 years ago, beads were only worn on the neck, across the hair, the arm and around the waist.
But she said she wouldnt know if it was a lost heritage that is being re-introduced or just modernization. . .just like the Yorubas, who didnt have buba initially. |

Culture / Re: Neglect Of Igbo Language By Igbo People by oludashmi(f): 9:00am On Jan 13, 2011 |
Akhenaten:
I think this situation is overblown. Igbo language is alive and well in Alaigbo. However, I see many of the dialect disappearing. I do not know if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but focusing on Standardized Igbo is something I support.
Maybe I am a little biased, because Standardized Igbo is based on my Central Igbo dialect, so I should consider myself lucky.
And most people in the East speak Igbo. Now those who live in the Diaspora cannot speak Igbo, so we should be worried about that. However, this is nothing new for immigrant communities. Most descendants of Italians who live in the U.S. cannot speak Italian. The same goes for other immigrant groups.
As long as the people of the South-East speak Igbo, the language will not die.
I agree totally with you! |
