I will tell a little story of a friend of mine who lost his life through characters of this kind. I will try and make it snappy.

His name is Gbenga (real name)
He was a very quiet guy. He travelled to the UK, left wife and a kid in Naija.

Gbenga spent some years and found a way for the wife and kid to join him.

Wife came to the UK and started having affairs. My guy didn't know until one day.

He left for work and forgot something at home.
He came and met one of his friends fuccckking the wife right on his bed.

Instead of being calm, he started beating the wife and his betrayal friend escaped.
While descending the stairs, the friend called the Police, gave them the flat address etc. That a man is beating his wife bla bla bla.

Police came, saw the wife beaten and crying. They whisked my guy away instantly. And to cut the story short, he was eventually deported.

Gbenga arrived Naija and after some months he ran mad.

Lastly, he fell sick on the street , rushed to UCH and died.

My point.
He must have grew up with this kind of attitude though a quiet person.

If he was calm and settled the issue some other way, he wouldn't have suffered such a fate.

It is highly stupid beating a woman like that guy did.

You didn't state your existing qualification(s). However, it seems you're a career starter. Your best bet is to take the federal job, assuming your long term career goal is to remain an academic. You should then ensure you gain your PhD, if you dont already have it. Then, switch to a Federal university. Your years of service will be merged and continue to count. Polytechnics can't be compared to universities - its like comparing oranges with apples. That said, initially, it would appear you're working in lower cadre institution (which is what it is), once you make the transition to a Federal University, that feeling disappears. Good luck.
