Ewuro4:Yup, ginger, green and white onions and Chinese fish sauce and sesame oil. No salt or pepper though. |
Used my bamboo steamer Steamed Croaker fish with ginger and green onions, served with rice and Chinese sweet and sour veggie sauce.

babythug:Sudocrem is fine for most parts of the body except the eye and mouth area. It's a Zinc oxide cream (15% I believe), with other active ingredients. Zinc oxide treats skin ailments like rashes, chilblains etc. Zinc oxide is the main ingredient in powders like Agnesia (which is used for rashes on the body). However, please let's try not to use powder unless necessary (respiratory issues) HTH |
Well, it's true. An agenda is being pushed on us all. Things that were shocking are encouraged actively and debate keeps it in our minds. No-one thinks it a problem anymore to be decorated in tattoos and piercings, so many kids I know are doing soft to hard-core drugs and homosexuality is slowly becoming normalised. The reason that I would say that our Senate had no right passing that Homosexuality Bill is because they break the laws themselves. Nigeria is Sodom and Gomorrah already and a lot of your lawmakers have eaten the forbidden fruit. There was a young man who walked right by me in the afternoon at The Palms, dressed in makeup and flashy clothing and not hiding his sexuality. I was shocked, then I found it he flaunts it even on social media, flaunts his relationships with married wealthy men there too and that no-one would arrest him: because he has connections. Who do you think those connections are? But if he were a poor dude in some urban slum or village, he's be in jail. Hypocrisy is what got us into this mess of legalising gay marriage: when everyone was breaking the rules and vows of marriage, it became a commonplace thing, to be discarded at will. Rather than a pillar of community and society. Do you know gay men? I do. It's hard to hate the act and associate it with people you work with or are related to. So do you avoid them? |
byvan03:A story was on the FrontPage about a man who took his toddler from his estranged wife by force and the next day, reported to the Police station with the baby's dead body, that she had fallen in a well when he went to buy bread. No other explanation. What if that guy was shouting on top of another woman not his wife and his neglected toddler walked out and then the story changed to "went to buy bread" (who would leave a child unattended to buy bread?!!). That is how easy this thread could have ended up in Punch newspapers as "child electrocuted herself when Father was asleep and Mother not at home". Then we will blame the Mother, not knowing her husband was cheating on her and neglected his child for a girl that he will not remember her name in 2 years' time. Telling his wife is going to be hard (and i wouldn't recommend it) but drop a subtle hint that all isn't well. A man that can neglect his child to cheat is a slowpoke. |
cococandy:When the girl comes to serve water, channel your inner Patience Ozokwor. ![]()

Purity22 (I know I'm going to get my head bitten off for this...) But let me just say it: thank you for beating that girl up. If you were my sister, I'd be so proud of you. Stop worrying if the girl had died, we have a population issue in Nigeria and besides, this is NIGERIA! You'd never get convicted (I believe in diplomacy and violence: there's a time to talk, there's a time to kill. Too much reading of the Old Testament as a child caused this ).All I could think of is the baby lying unattended to, sitting in its filth, allowed to do whatever (what if the baby had crawled towards some electronics and put live wires into his mouth? What if he had crawled somewhere and something heavy lands on him), the useless pair (his matrimonial bed, his wife's wrapper). Ignoring his child because of cheap lust! Emphasise this part to your husband: he ignored the welfare and safety of his child to gbensh. Act strange next time you are the guy, let the wife notice something is wrong. When the girl comes in, hiss and act like a Nollywood Mother-in-law. If the wife asks, say "oh nothing!". You'd have planted seeds in her mind and she will eventually figure it out. |
Good one. I've only self-medicated for my eyes once (I had a burn) and I looked up past cases to know that I needed Corticosteroid drops for about 3 days max. Could you also explain to everyone on the thread, the difference between an Ophtamologist and Optometrist or Optician? A lot of people don't know and some unscrupulous medical practioners will see some patients who need Opthamologists and insist on treating them (because they're chasing money). |
touchmeder:I'm envious...fresh leaf soup will be on point in your home for planters, why not ask a carpenter to build you one for your herb garden? It's pretty simple and will look nice like the ideas below. Plus you can add more and make a proper herb garden in your wooden planter. The only issue I see with it is that the wood may rot with time with the watering but that won't happen in the next couple of months (They should use a thick solid wood as the base, not that cheap undried plywood. To stake your Bitter leaf plant, you can use Bamboo (it's a great support).Meanwhile...do you know I don't know any soup I can make with Bitterleaf? I tasted one once and it was bitter so I never learnt it... ![]() The plants look nice but can you put your snake plant inside another bag with soil? That Dumb cane may not let it get enough nutrients? Are you propagating the snake plant (clever you!)

I agree with Efemena. Sorry guys. Try and help her restructure her lifestyle to fit her current situation (i don't know how long she can sustain herself on donations from strangers). But I'll put her in prayers. |
kendlez:They've disappeared again (weird family members ) but why not take all the info I've given you, do your but and then go to the GH and tell them your observations and that they should perhaps make recommendations on allergy meds. |
bigtt76:So what should she have done? If she had come to NL with her greviances, some of you would have advised her to focus on her job and children and leave her husband alone, he will come to his senses #ensure. She did that and the husband disgraced her and jeopardized her career (or do you think album sales make money in Nigeria? It's her endorsements and private gigs which do). So she did an interview to save her job. And you're still not happy. Some of you would have advised her to divorce him. After all, she's paying the bills, he had slapped her around (even when she denied it, people saw her swollen face). His cheating is public (pretty girls on the island who go clubbing and are insecure enough to date a married man have been saying so for at least 2 years and they had pictures of him in bed to prove it. Or did you think her friendship with Linda Ikeji wasn't because she wanted something in return?). So she had divorced him. And you're still not happy. So, what should she have done? To anyone who has marital problems, the only lesson you can take away is this: please decide what you want to do and live with it. Because the world will judge and support alternatively. You may as well please yourself. |
stadora:You have described my symptoms. I have a dust allergy and used to have mild asthma. It runs in my family, so we are all used to it. Anti-bacterial meds won't help. I don't want to mention the meds I take (and yes, there is a children's version of it but I don't want to prescribe without a diagnosis) but speak to your doctor and more importantly, start looking for what is triggering the cough, when does it start. Can you clean the entire house with a damp rag (so the dust doesn't fly around) Or take baby to somewhere else dust free and see if he gets better. The dust mites, mold, cockroaches and perfumed products (even Raid or those pink mosquito papers) in the air could trigger it. Kendlez, please start looking for triggers like dust. one of the consultants i asked mentioned she thought it was an allergy. My eyes would water and i'd be unable to breathe and my nose would be burning inside (it would be runny and bring out mucous), so I would start breathing from my mouth (gasping for air). Your babies sound like me. But you need a confirmation from a doctor. What I'd advise is to make notes of the symptoms and what triggers it, meet up with your doctor and discuss if the baby can be prescribed anti-allergy meds (it is a liquid, sweet actually). You have to sound knowledgable so do your research (Nigerian doctors are used to handle patients who know little about their bodies or medicine so they may want to ignore your suggestions. That's why you have to do your homework). See if you can get a different diagnosis. HTH |
Kendlez, what city are you in? I'm speaking to 2 consultant paeditricians and they're saying that they don't think it's a bacterial infection because it should have cleared up by now. One is guessing it's an allergy. But they feel that the antibacterial meds are not be best for it. However, they stressed that it is guess work without seeing your baby. So if you can tell me what city you are, I can ask them to see if they know a good consultant around your area. Please try and answer this quickly because they're not the easiest people to catch and they don't like answering patients whom they cannot see. |
kendlez:My dear, I don't know. I'm going to post the mum below, try and read and see which describes his other symptoms. You neef to be able to accurately describe what his symptoms are. http://m.kidshealth.org/en/parents/childs-cough.html?WT.ac= It could be an allergy or asthma (though they would have heard something in his chest) or a viral infection. Did he get all his injections? Dtap and co? I'll try ask a few people and see if they have any suggestions of what to ask your doctor to look out for. |
MadCow1:Finally. When he was slapping her till her face swelled up, we heard nothing. When he was asked to step down as her manager because he was taking more than his salary, we heard nothing. When he was cheating on her with babes on the island (ask any girl who is pretty and goes clubbing to certain clubs, they will tell you Tbillz's life history), we heard nothing. Now he's accusing her of all sorts and playing to the gallery because she's getting fed up and her people have been asking her to move on from him. And it's working, people are saying "Depression"! An insult to people having real issues. |
pjthatcher:Why not chill a bit, this is a new product on the market. At least let it get a NAFDAC certification and number. It sounds okay, but I have no idea if the ingredients are baby-safe (though it may be toddler and older child-safe). Babies have very gentle tummies and even if they are eating adult food, they're eating food prepared in an environment that are used to. |
If you are serious....look up Few Modelling Agency. They are based in Lagos and have a training school. When you are done, they may decide to either sign you or another agency like Isis or Beth Models may. But that is only if you're good (and the competition is fierce because everyone and their sister wants to model, so they are looking to bounce a lot of people). From there you may end up (if lucky and hardworking), abroad modelling. Or you can try and get yourself signed into Commercial modelling agencies. All of these people are based in Lagos, so if you're not there, that's it. So, your first test of seriousness: go and find out the addreases of social media contacts of the 3 agencies I mentioned above. If you ask me, I won't tell you because I don't know. Good luck. ps: they may most likely tell you to remove your weave or cut your hair. Because your face doesn't look "strong" (it's not very memorable), so they have to know what they're working with to maximise your potential. |
telemapreye1:Okay, so if you don't inform them, so they don't parent their child and stop them at home. And the child goes on to do it again and maybe he does it to a child who can tell her parents and they come and shout at both you and said boy, cause a scene and other parents hear and decide your creche has "bad children" and withdraw them. Would you still be worried about offending them? |
Please inform their parents. Let them come and sit down and listen carefully. Please. They may even be watching stuff on tv and copying it. It may be an older person who is not a parent in their households exposing them to this stuff. |
Flashh:If they encourage safe water transportation, I assure you you won't need this new bridge. If even 20% of Lagosians use waterways, traffic will reduce. |
To the naysayers, I'm going to explain this to you in a beautiful manner (I encourage believers to get their money ready to spray me in appreciation, because my explanation is THAT beautiful ). Disclaimer: I am not a member of Winner's Chapel and do not attend a church with such requirement. Now, the word of the Lord stipulates that Fornication (the act of pre-marital sex) is a sin. That is clear. The church, as custodians of the words of God, decided to teach and enforce His laws. Some churches leave you to work out your salvation, other give you guidelines because they believe you may mot achieve it without Discipline from earthly sherpards (the clergy). Now, since the church has decided to teach and enforce, but however are limited by privacy laws, that they cannot monitor each and every one of their members, they passed the by-law "pregnancy test or no marriage". They do not want to condone your sin of Fornication. It's not their place to judge you (so they won't and will bless your union afterwards), but they do not want to celebrate your sin of Fornication (they are custodians of God's word which clearly stated that you sin). Modern Science has made it possible for people to fornicate and "not get caught" #BirthControl (pills, injections, implants, condoms and abortions) and Virginity cannot be tested for either gender (proof of hymen doesn't make you a virgin and men cannot be tested for virginity), but the church is still enforcing its by-law. Since you decided to go the extra mile and use contraceptives to fornicate (and sin) in the privacy of your heart, the church has left you to have that conversation with God at your appointed time as to why you were sooo determined to fornicate. As for the church, they have (as custodians of the Word of the Lord) done their part by teaching against fornication and enforcing a pregnancy test before marriage. They cannot enter your bedroom and be chasing you and that chick around the bed with a cane. So the church rule of a pregnancy test before marriage stays. The End. I'd like that money spray now please ![]() |
damiso:Nigerian teachers are not motivated. Nigerian workers in general are not motivated. Our society is apathetic. It annoys me when they tell married women "go and teach or start a school", what was once a wonderful discipline has now become somewhere to dump bored housewives. Teachers are too busy being worried about the basics of living to care about imparting anything meaningful to their students. The first thing Daycares do is to suscribe for DSTV or buy Barney cds, so as to have something to shut the kids up with. Metalgear, most of us have lived in the U.S. please think about this carefully: do you want your child to be left to the whims of cheap childcare in a society which is set up to fail Black Americans? It's a risk that if you're willing to take, sure (and pray nothing happens. Though your 3 year old is attempting to kiss her sibling, most likely she's been exposed to weird stuff). You should take time off, let wifey finish her course and then you continue. Or send kids back to grandparents in Nigeria and pray that they are on top of the situation. |
chigoizie7:If it's the Lagos Homs scheme, it's targeting middle class people (the people I know who got into it successfully without connections are all mid-level bankers). They tend to plan their lives out and know that they will most likely pay off on time or flip the mortgage over to the next buyer. They are also used to taking bank loans. I don't think Nigeria is ready to provide low-cost housing to lower class of society. They wouldn't pay (half are already wondering how to game the system. They're hacking Data from networks, is it housing that will be honourable about ) |
For anyone coming home to fiddle with the tv, set up Parental control and password it. I'm going to do the same (because I left my baby at an aunt's place and when I got there, the maid and baby were watching Africa Magic. And I have seen lots of children attending million-naira nursery and primary school and sounding like the maids. Because that is whom they stay with the most and the maids switch on Africa Magic once the parent leaves home, no matter the numerous complaints from their employers). We watch Cbeebies until baby E is asleep and Daddy is the only one not in "Formation" but I will whip him into shape soon. Yes, I referenced a Beyonce song ![]() |
metalgear:He's kinda right, not enough time for your kids. You and your wife have to sit down and really think about what's best for your family. It may be that you or your wife may have to postpone some things in your career. It may be that you have to send that child back to grandma (you won't be the first and most of them turn out okay). But you cannot keep sending your child to someone's grandma whose beliefs and ideas about childcare are different than yours. So start shopping around for a new Nanny or playschool (3 is old enough) and both of you sit down as as a family and see if you can get flexible with your classes and work (rather than take Fridays off together, one person takes Friday's and another gets another day, that's 2 days during the week at home with your child). There are people who have been in your situation and kept quiet and the child turned out okay. There are people who kept quiet and are regretting. It's a chance you have to take and a choice you have to make. And childcare is the same everywhere, you have to shop till you find something you like. G'night . |
To keep yourself hydrated, why not munch on some watermelon slices. Watermelons contain almost 92% water and are a delicious and nutritious way to stay hydrated on a hot day. Cut and put slices in the fridge or buy some ice block, put bowls of watermelon inside and everyone can take it after lunch (when the day is hottest) as a dessert. Babies from 6 months old can even take watermelon and they love it as a finger food. |
anytaij:It may not be that the doctor doesn't know what he/she's doing (because there's an online medical encyclopedia). But don't take medical advise from me or anyone here without getting someone qualified to ascertain whether we got it right or not. Why not ask around here who knows a good paeditrician around your area. HTH Gbagada? Can you go to Lifeline Children's Hospital in Surulere (please look up their address and info, I don't have it). What about LASUTH Ikeja? It's a teaching hospital so there will be consultant paeditrician there. Check online for their address. Since after taking meds for one ear, both ears are now bringing out pus, you can escalate your treatment options. |
anytaij:But why were you putting swabs in his ear in the first place? You're not supposed to. The swabs are meant to clean the outer perimeter of the ear (the part you can see). Swabs can actually push stuff inside the ear and not safe for babies. Go back to the hospital and if you're satisfied with the advice given to you, ask the doctor that you'd like to see a paeditrician. The paeditrician will then take a look and make some recommendations. All mothers, cotton swabs are not safe for baby's ears because they cannot sit still and swabs can push stuff like bacteria (staph for example lives on everyone's skin, clean or not ) into the inner ear and cause wahala. Dampen a swab and use it to clean only the outer part of the ears. Don't worry about wax build-up for now, your child refusing to answer your calls is not that the child is deaf, he/she's being stubborn ![]() |
cococandy:I don't know much about daffodils, the little I know is they're bulbs (like tulips). Could it be that you're overwatering them? Because I've certainly killed a few.plants drenching them in water and when their leaves turned brown (their roots were rotting due to excess water), I poured more water in erroneously. Did you put filler (rocks or something) under the soil before planting? I didnt and my spider plant is drinking a bit too much water and browning so I'm watering less (once or twice a week). Maybe that's it? And you could go to Home Depot (no, not them, the other one...) and get a sachet of plant food? I dunno. Gardeners in the Western Hemisphere, please answer. |
Melinde:He needs to fire his tailor. Just look at the hems and seams! Shoddy work. |
Sharoniah:In beween them and AB Art world you should be able to get what you need (for now). I know Crafties4all had better quality yarn than the ones in the market (locally-made but still support the Kano ones as we want to grow the Naira nah ) |
