mompurity2:this is a silly question, but please how do you tell them apart? |
realdentist:Either in Balogun where they sell Salon supply things or like Alphahandmaiden said, poke a hole through the cover of a regular plastic bottle cc PresVA and iomoge2 |
mrk74:Dude, you're not a bad guy and neither is your woman. I think you guys will be fine and I have a feeling she's going to put in more effort into removing that food item you hate and apologising. And I'm sure you're going to be giving her positive reinforcement (remember, if you tell her something and she doesn't do it, leave her be. She'll come and find you for your good advice when she sees it). |

Swim. Check on Youtube, there are lots of videos. At that age, they are still very comfortable being suspended in liquids/water. My friend used to teach a class to 4 to 6 months old babies abroad at her church. If I knew how to post video. At Ikoyi club, you can take the baby in, but they won't start swimming lessons till 12 months. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccFq-DLeEy8 |
imurboss:See as you stylishly blamed the multivitamins. Abeg make we go Gym together, mah friend! ![]() I think you need to tighten your stomach muscles. |
Pacypatty:See swag! eolowu1, it's finally nice to meet Baby Gold (who is driving mummy to distraction ) |
MizOmalicha:I think that just means he's blowing raspberries. Which means he'll be a good swimmer if you start himnat 3 months. Yes, you read that age right, 3 months old babies who can swim underwater ![]() |
fpeter:I just don't understand why it pains them so much ![]() |
Prettyhurts:Aha! A girl, pretty like her mum. See the BwestAttacker, Hansel @mitchyy everfaithfulgod, we can't wait for birthday cake. Is he a November baby? MamaOO, your LO has your lips nazablossom, he's cute |
So apparently, today's #Threadbabies is Boys Only Nice one ladies. |
mompurity2:That is a really nice bedsheet. |
mompurity2:No vex, I had to do a lot of scrolling and I missed it a couple of times. It's good their necks are getting strong. Honestly, I would wait till 4 months or even 4 and a half months, there's no rush. Try and lie them down propped on a pillow first. I didn't check any guideline so i wouldn't keep panicking that "baby isn't sitting, isn't walking, has no teeth, didn't get elected for School President, doesn't have a boyfriend, hasn't finished learning how to colour neatly so may not get admission into an Ivy league university". So, start sitting them propped up with pillows behind them in 2 weeks' time? |
Zaynie, how can you like ages 4-5, that's the worst group ever! I never taught but I used to volunteer and that age group never sat still, during Story Time, they were climbing my back to plait my hair and fidgetting constantly ("Charlie pushed me, Nneka is sitting too close, I want to pee, Toyin's leg is touching my own"![]() |
thorpido:You don't get, I started counting threads a while back bashing women or telling them to change for the better. Then I tried comparing it to threads extolling women. The ratio was 10: 0. Not one male moniker thought to say "hey, we have great women", it was all just insults and putting down in nasty and petty manner. They don't even realise how bad is to constantly feed yourself negative ideas about a gender, it means when you eventually do get married, you will go in thinking it is a battlefield, that every little issue will become an avenue for a vicious fight. With that mindset, your marriage is dead on arrival. You cannot keep saying "she is evil and bad" and then think you will meet a pretty girl, marry her and one day NOT say the same thing about her. You are what you consume. Do you know I met some guys on NL who are married and they said they're disgusted by Family section guys? I've met 3 now who call them "small boys" and one went to say I should stop coming to this section because my mind would be poisoned. No-one is saying the blogger's friend's wife didn't do wrong, all we are saying is "why is it only the wife, only the mother we hate everytime?" Even on Child Molestation threads, they will blame the mother of the victim and random girls for not agreeing to sleep with the perpetrator. On a Domestic Violence thread, it is the victim's fault for marrying a wife beater and annoying him, oh she must have been chasing his money and didn't see "them good guys". On the thread where the NYSC guy's mother sold akara or food to send him to school, filled with comments like "our girls cannot do this". There are so many women contributing positively to their families, they are not celebrated, but the menfolk go on to publicly "try and teach them and hope they will hear word". It's madness. |
No #threadbabies today?? |
VikingsOO7:and you're seeing trouble where there is none: your intended audience is telling you to also address that message to your fellow men. Simple and logical. The End. Abeg, let me leave this section for una. No be my pikin una go marry so e no concern me |
VikingsOO7:Because when you constantly complain about a certain group of people, bash them continuously (seriously why are you guys still toasting Naija women, abeg gwan marry foreign babes and be happy, Ghana and Kenya is also #TeamForeignBabes o) and then tell them you need to change, without you accepting that maybe you're part of the problem, that other group eventually starts acting up, determined to prove your worst predictions right. If you keep calling your child a thief, one day it will come true. As you name it, so shall it be. Reading Nairaland has shown me you cannot win in life being a Nigerian woman. |
keepingmum, dyt and eyinjuege, how dare YOU imply that women are caring, a lot of them are supporting their families uncomplainingly and standing by their man?! How dare you say that some men cause their own wahala with their hands, are you trying to say men should take responsibility for some of their own woes, that after they have made their beds, they have to lie on it?? Are you honestly trying to imply that women actually carry their weight times two in caring for their families?! Don't you know women are useless and are not as great as their mothers! hian, Are you Feminists!!! ![]() |
cococandy:what is African Breadfruit? Also, what is "Acha", saw some and wanted to buy, but didn't know how to cook it (plus it was hideously expensive). |
awwe congrats my bro. stjsd, abeg prophesy for me ![]() |
Okay everybody!!! It's Friday and you know what that means: INTERNATIONAL #THREADBABIES DAY!! Whose turn is it today!! Let's see cute pics. cc Stadora |
phunmykay:Try Google. I think you have to blend and make tea. |
Doubledouble:Yup. Start with what he likes then give him more stuff, just keep introducing food to him. Meanwhile...you owe me a house-cleaning! I took my phone from Baby E to reply this and she followed the phone from her potty...and did half her poop on the floor! |
jamjam5000:I didn't pay, covered by Govt Insurance. In U.K. it's taxes at work, in the U.S. it's Health insurance and it is also actually sponsored by companies (I even got coupons for Enfamil formula). Which is what I wanted to replicate here: sponsorship by private individuals, churches and companies. But considering how much you pay, it's still a good thing. In Nigeria, even if you pay, you will still have to carrt every item on your list. Though I think expensive private hospitals here don't tell you to buy detergent. |
lioha:We have written and even put up pictures and charts so use the Search and look it up, there are tons of info. It's maybe 10-15 pages back. I deleted all the pics, I'd have reposted them pele. Just check "6 months baby food health" in the search bar on NL. |
sayoddy:Do you have a digital thermometer or any type of thermometer to check his temperature? What does it read? |
iomoge2, PresVA and other mamas, that witch hazel thing will really help. Ingredients are: Witch-Hazel (alcohol-free) Aloe Vera gel (optional) Lavender essential oil cold water Mix it and put it in a squirt bottle (see pic below). I've seen them sold with Salon supply people in lagos island or apparently you can check Gbadebo street, Ojota. Spray liberally. Epsom salt is sold in pharmacies (the mall pharmacies have them). MamaOO can explain how she used them. I only did sitz bath because people mentioned it and I used to use it to hide and sleep in the bathtub . But sitz baths do work still and more affordable and accessible.
|
MamaOO:Does it not drive you crazy you get all that free stuff yet in Nigeria, you will buy even Omo and Imperial Leather soap to carry to bathe your newborn?? I mean, we don't deserve to be called a good country. I wanted to organise a free charity care package for new mums in GHs but abeg I can't even try it. |
hotmomma:It's a pain relieving spray. It's really good for taking away the pain. It doesn't heal but you will feel nothing if you get sewn. It's one of the free stuff they give you in hospitals abroad but I think it's sold in Healthplus or Medplus over here in Naija (but Lord knows the price). The Witch Hazel is nice, clean and cooling and will aid with healing. The coldness of the witch hazel mix is nice and aloe Vera is soothing (I used to rub raw aloe vera gel on my skin when it itches). Nothing will speed up the healing process but as long as the place is not infected and is cool, you won't notice anything. I was driving around 4 days after birth and I didn't notice till I started bleeding heavily. I didn't sitz bath till like 3 weeks later or so. I don't think I needed to. cc iomoge2 and PresVA
|
Ibj50:I used to be. |
stadora:Do you remember Bournvita of our youth, chocolatey it was? Well, nowadays when you mix it plain, it is always light brown in colour without milk. I suspect they reduced the amount of cocoa and increased the sugar. And I feel it's the same as Ovaltine. So, if you want to give LO, okay, but milk is better IMO. Plus, less expenses. We've never had Ovaltine and she hasn't missed it. I'd rather give her milk to drink. |
stadora:NO! Sorry for yelling, but millions of mothers have weaned without a single drug given. Why would a baby run a fever from being weaned?? Why are you giving Ovaltine, it's sugar-y and expensive compared to plain good ol' whole milk. Well, it's upto you. |

, i always feel embarrassed each time people ask if i'm pregnant, don't know maybe it's cos of the multivitamin drugs i take. It's really giving me concern now, don't know what else to do o
So, start sitting them propped up with pillows behind them in 2 weeks' time?
