Investment › Re: Mutual Funds by otomatic(m): 8:10am On May 14, 2023 |
Rates may be down for long if you consider that the Unclaimed funds trust fund being proposed by CBN will invest in treasury bills.
This trust fund will be made up of unclaimed dividends and monies in bank accounts that have been dormant for 10 years.
So that is free money in the market. There is a reason those funds are unclaimed. Most of them belong to dead people whose heirs have no idea of the existence of such accounts.
So once CBN takes over, most of those monies will remain with them in perpetuity. This free money added with insitutional investors with so much money to throw around, may motivate them not to raise rates. |

No big deal. You choose a successor, write a Will, take out life insurance and even choose a place to be laid to rest. You might even provide funding sources for the inevitable. It's all part of estate planning.
The late Queen Eliza even used to oversee rehearsals of the ceremonies that will happen upon her death. Everything was planned and rehersed often, even the minutest detail. |

Wotowotoman: Tell the bolded to your poor father… My father was a very accomplished individual and raised very capable and well rounded children. I don't think the same can be said of yours as your personality shows your upbringing. You cannot even carry on a decent discussion in a public forum without garnishing it with insults. Terrible human being with terrible character, that's what you are. A big shame on your parents. You better work on your character so that you won't end up as a depressed and lonely old man. See a therapist bro. Take that as friendly advice, although I doubt if you know the value of such. |

SmartPolician: The president is the leader of Nigeria.
FCT is one territory in Nigeria's 37 states (if you will).
The FCT minister is the governor of Abuja appointed by the President.
You people should stop twisting the constitution. The President governs Abuja by delegation to the minister (who is an appointee and was not voted in but serves at the pleasure of the President). Nigeria has 36 states not 37. Nobody is twisting constitution. We are looking at facts not emotions. |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by otomatic(m): 9:59am On Mar 22, 2023 |
Wotowotoman: Nigerians and stupidity. You are using percentages and think you are gaining. What you don’t know is that in real terms, you are losing big time as inflation continues to bite harder. The real value of your money even with the supposed gain in percentages is less. Take that gain to the market and see what you can buy. You will buy even less than the small gains you were making before the increase in rates.
Go and learn proper economics before you open your mouth again. So what is the solution? |
Politics › Re: FCT 25% Requirement: Olisa Agbakoba Saw This Coming by otomatic(m): 9:56am On Mar 22, 2023 |
SmartPolician: That FCT 25% NONSENSE sounds absurd to me. FCT is often separated from the 36 states because it's a territory, not a state (they cannot call it 37 states). However, as far as the election is concerned, FCT is like every other state in the country.
BTW, if Peter Obi is hoping to use that as basis to upturn Tinubu's sham victory, then I am afraid he has no case against the Druggie because it won't work. Look at it from another perspective. The President is the governor of the FCT via his minister. How can he then govern a territory he did not win? That clause has been interpreted before now by the supreme Court. |
