You have to have some balls to wear it with confidence. Besides how will I look walking into church like that on sunday. They will just announce an unexpected deliverance service immediately after church and lock the doors so I don't escape.

Both my sister's children where induced and she had vaginal births. No C-section. They picked the week to induce her and when the time came they gave her a call and she went in and had the babies.

I agree with contacting the government officials but how long will they take to get to him. Time is of the essense. Someone else might already be eyeing for ritual purposes. Why not make arrangements for him to get into a psychiatric hospital and when he has a bed ready and if you have any police friends they can help you bundle him into a vehicle straight to a safe place for him. It is not the job of the police but it might be the quickest way to get your friend to a safe place. Good luck. Let us know if you are succesful

Does impotence come overnight? He is much older so erectile dysfunction might be the problem but then you would have seen signs yourself abi? It just does not stop working overnight. Is it possible that he contracted a disease and he is trying to protect you from it. You have to let him know that he needs to talk about it because right now it seems that you are toying with the idea of leaving him. 2 and a half years of no sexhuhhuhhuh? Body no be wood o.

It sounds to me that your MIL is still grieving and as so not thinking rationally. She wants to hold on to anything of her son that she can. Be careful if you do decide to go to Nigeria. They might even have the whole wedding planned and waiting for you to just come in there and say I do. I cannot put anything past anybody that will ask you to do such a thing. If you feel like you are emotionally strong enough to handle it then go. You can also decide to stay in Lagos. Your mother in law and her son can come to Lagos to see their you and their child. Please do not go to the village and surround yourself with your own people. I know your MIL means well but that your Brother in law is a whole different story

Yoruba ke? There is no tribe that does not have people that beat their kids. My mom is Igbo and I bet of you saw her spank me when I was a kid you would say "those savage igbo people". You probably leave in an area with more yoruba people and unfortunately they wrestle with their children. It is not a yoruba thing.
Family › Re: Women, Victims Of Domestic Violence: Whats The Point In Not Speaking Out? by Outstrip(f): 2:56am On Aug 10, 2009
Men who hit do not start overnight. It usually starts with verbal abuse, mental abuse, emotional abuse etc. By the time the hitting starts he already has her in a very emotionally fragile place. She already feels she is nothing, nobody else would want her, she is a failure etc. It is not easy to build all that back up not to talk of then leaving especially when there are children involved. Also it is even worse for women in Nigeria than here in the west. I have seen cases where a man hits his wife and she leaves or calls the cops and she is basically ostracized by other Nigerian women. In fact I feel that in a lot of cases Nigerian women are evil when it comes to this. I am not making excuses for them because at the end of the day they still have to leave such a man but these are just a few of the reasons why some of these women stay

Fashion › Re: Who Is Nigerian's Number One Fashion Icon by Outstrip(f): 2:52pm On Aug 08, 2009
I would imagine that a style icon would be someone who is willing to take risks. Ifeoma Williams is just okay. She dresses well but there is nothing that stands out. Opral Benson seems to have he own style but I don't see anything iconic from the pictures I just saw either. Rita Dominic tries. She definitely takes risks though sometimes it feels like she might be spending too much time trying to look like something out of style magazine. She is the only one that I can actually takes risks. I know many Nigerians in my day to day life that are "fashion icon material" but if your face no dey magazine , lol
Politics › Re: Bank Teller Loses His Job For Trying To Stop A Robber: by Outstrip(f): 2:30am On Aug 08, 2009
Blah blah blah. It makes no sense even in Nigeria. So the teller in Nigeria should risk their life so that just in case they survive trying to beat down a possibly armed man they will not be tortured into confessing a crime they did not commit? I don't even get the point you are making. As for being suspicious of the manager I don't even know where to start with that. The manager does not make the rules. No company(absolutely none) in the United states will ask an untrained employee to confront a criminal.

My first job out of college was as a manager at a department store. It is just not done. Now I am not saying that my blood did not boil when I saw some of these low lives walk in my store and think they could steal and get aware with it. If you have your shit together you will have their plate number, direction they are going and feeding it to the 911 operator as they speed off. Unless it is an absolutely busy areas where there are a lot of alley ways the police usually have them within minutes.

Ha ha ha, long distance indeed! If you don't grab your man another girl will take him. If you think because you are married to him he can't talk to his family again you are wrong.
A lot of ladies out there always think that once they get married nobody has the right to command their husband besides them.
I may put your husband on the same analogy with me. When I wanted to travel; I barely saw anybody to help other than my mum and my sisters. If you are they type of girl who doesn't know how I grew up and just want me to tell my family to hit the door just because of her, I ain't stupid. If you love me you have got to love my family too.

Eyah. He will be back before you know it. I know even the kids will find it odd because they are so used to him being around. I used to literally cry when I had to go back to Chicago when we were still dating but now I will convince him to stay away longer to help him really rest. LOL.

Am I the only one that knows that Akata is a bad word. Quite a few of my yoruba friends have told me that it means wild beast. It is literally translated from the yoruba language but originated from Yoruba's living in the US. I do not want to get insults based on this but I have been told that time and time again. My family and I do not use the word and I am simply not comfortable with people using it around me

first of all----the topic dey wrong!! BANK TELLER LOSES HIS JOB FOR STOPING A ROBBER ! !

company policies must be treated not by just a blanket application but on a case by case basis ------------ the guy was cock sure the robber wasnt armed and he acted on his intution (instinct) does that now mean that banks should now be robbed by any unarmed guy------and bank worker comply even when it is obvious that the guy only has one or two bubble gum rapps in his shallow pocket? all of dem dey crase!
How was he sure. Did he pat him down. He was not sure. If police can figure out that a guy in unarmed just from his behavior then they will not need to pat down. What if this guy had a gun and when Mr Hero chased him down he shot and hurt or killed a customer in the bank. You can never bring someone back and the bank will definitely be sued.

Only 5 nights apart?
that means no travelling without the other?
Haaaaaaaaaaa, that will choke person oh.
I think it is good for the relationship for the man and woman to chill out away from each other sometimes oh, so that when they now come back, they will burn with fire in bed.
However, i am never in support of man and woman sleeping in separate rooms while they are in same home oh.
I know couples like that that have wonderful marriages. My friend though only married about 8 years was never apart from her husband until earlier this year. They have a very strong marriage. I personally do not mind some days apart. LOL. I just think that when you decide to have your own separate bedroom and bed you're starting something that can lead to a break down in intimacy

I don't see why you should want your own bedroom. I can understand your own space like a man cave but at the end of the day you simply just have to have a room where you have your marriage bed. I am on your wife's side on this one. Make a space for yourself if you are feeling a little crowded where no one bothers you but you have to keep that connection to your wife.

There was a manager at Walgreens that ran after a shoplifter and he slipped outside and his head hit a pole that was protruding out of the floor. It perforated his skull and killed him. It is never worth it.

Do you have any sisters that can kick her ass? Okay just kidding. What did you know about her before you got married. She has to absolutely not respect you for her to hit you. Have you talked to her parents about it? I will not encourage you to live with someone that hits you because they can kill you. Talk to her parents or someone you both respect. Maybe you guys need to live apart for a while and sort things out.

GEW:
well i can understand your point seeing your grand ma  history luckily some of us dont have that kind of mum.  go read the thread on marrying women who cant cook and see my take on matters like this.

once again i repeat what i said in an earlier thread marriage is a partnership and it is everymans duty to protect his wife.  however if you see a fight brewing between your mum and your wife, common sence demands that you ask your wife to calm down and let the woman who will be away in an hour or a day do her business and go away.   you will never know your ma inlaw more than your husband.

i know this is a generation that likes to claim rights without looking at the broader picture and responsibilities. it is always better to live in peace with your family.  i am priviledged to marry from a family who believe in unity at all cost.  my ma inlaw has 6 daughter inlaws who calls her mother becos that is who she is to us all.  the few years i have known her she has proved she is a Godly woman.

you talk about " starting something that you cannot finish" i say it is not good looking for troubles becos most of the battles some young women open upon their head and marriages is uncalled for.  i dont want to mention names we have seen some cases here on NL blown out of all proportions with devastating consequences.  most fights are not worth it my dear sister.

we all should learn to be small and very little in our own eyes.  we need our mother inlaws more than we know.  every marriage has its own challenges you need the good will and prayers of everyone on board for success.
You completely misunderstood my statement about finishing what you cannot start. If you let your mother sit you down and discuss your wife in a negative way then you have opened pandora's box. Once you start it or give the impression that you are willing to go there then you have started a process that will only get worse. You just should not be willing to entertain anything of that sort. I guess everyone is different but even if my husband was the kind that lets certain things fly I will not because you simply have to respect other people regardless of your age. I don't think that is too hard to do. In our culture respecting a younger person is seen as belittling yourself but I was not raised that way. I do not also buy into the whole thing about that was how they did things in the olden days. That to me is nonsense because even if your parents raised you like an animal you as an adult has a responsibility to yourself not to come across as being raised in a zoo.

My mother in law has been here since November and she has never messed with me (not directly anyway LOL) but I cannot imagine her doing something that annoys me which she does a lot of and I say something that I will not say to my mother. I remember when my mom came after I had my first child and I was having my post partum blues crap and I would cry for no reason. She got mad at me and was like "if you do not tell us what is wrong how can we know what to do" and my husband chimed in with nothing positive and all hell broke lose. I lit into both of them and went to my room and continued my crying that had no reason. I can do that to my mom but not my mother in law especially since she has never been around people like my family. She might even think we are all mad if she happens to see us interacting with each other just like she thinks Americans are completely insane. That is why it is important for the son to play that role. He understands better the way his mother reasons and he understands how his wife reasons.

but if i may ask,why is it only the womenfolks that are always having this problem, motherinlawsas btw daughter in laws,i think it has to do with an attitude common in all women, they all wanna own the man(no disrespect to womenfolks),i hardly hear of problems btw father in laws and sons in laws, haba women una no go kill us men ooo
Father in laws usually no get time for that nonsense. The mothers are the nurturers and sometimes it is hard for them to know where to draw the line. If the mother was the kind that just sat her butt at home and has no other interest then more than likely she will want to keep mothering and that is usually what causes the friction.

The only thing about Angelina is the lips and even that is not most people's thing. If you can just cut out the lips and model just that then fine. Overall I think Jen is much more sexy. Angelina looks like her waist line is right under her chin and sometimes I get the feeling that she is just not comfortable in her skin
