Bros you need to understand one thing very well:

Islam is NOT exactly equal to Fulani.

An Emirate is an Islamic Theocratic State.

Ilorin Emirate started as an Islamic Theocratic State but later became hereditary monarchy and it involve people from Fulani, Yoruba, Nupe and Hausa origins.

E.g Ilorin Emirate has four Baloguns who are part of the kingmakers and these are

1) Balogun Ajikobi (Represent the Yorubas).

2) Balogun Fulani (Represent the Fulani group).

3) Balogun Alanamu (Represent the Yoruba)

4) Balogun Gambari (Represent the Non-Yoruba, Non-Fulani groups)

olril17:
so can you also explained why they are trying to put Jebba in to the Ilorin emirate?
can a pure Yoruba ever become an emir in ilorin?

Thank you and God bless you.

Because of the Political achievements of the Fulani people in Nigeria, many people now want to show their 'Fulaniness' even if they only have 25% or even 12.5% Fulani ancestry e g Atiku and Saraki.

Bukola Saraki's case is worse as he neither understands Fulani or Hausa Languages.

ProudDick:
You neve told us how Dangote is Fulani. You just want us to believe he is Fulani. Most people you guys call Fulani are not even Fulani. Fulani have their distinct features which are very different from any Nigerian group. Only buhari, emir sanusi and yaradua qualify as fulani. I don’t see how babangida, abacha, Dangote, ganduje, kwankwaso, saraki, atiku are Fulani.

The truth is most people claim to be Fulani when they are not for political leverage. You will know a Fulani when you see one.

By the way, what give you the impression that you and your Great great-grandfather in 1809 belong to the same ethnic group?

It may surprise you if you dig deep enough to learn that your forebears as at 1809 weren't Igbos but Igala, Idoma, Edo or even Hausas who were displaced by the Fulani Jihard and fled southwards and settled in Aguleri, Mbaise, Umudike, Nsukka or Awka.

Excavations at Igbo-Ukwu led to the discovery of glass beads worn by residents of the town 1000 years ago but were of Egyptian origin.

How did Egyptian glass beads got to Igbo-Ukwu in 900 AD? The answer shows that there were middle men (who may be Hausas) traders connecting Igbo-Ukwu residents to North African markets.

Donald Trump's Grandfather was a German who migrated to America just around 100 years ago but today will you say Donald Trump is a German?

Many families from Nsukka had their great grandfathers who were Igalas but today their descendants are Igbos.

Dr Olusola Saraki's father may have Fulani ancestry but most of his descendants today aren't Fulani.

What in a man suggest that he is Yoruba?

If you sincerely think that Bukola Saraki, the son of Olusola Saraki whose wife is Toyin Saraki, whose Son is Olaseeni Saraki whose siblings are Gbemisola and Olaoluwa Saraki is a Fulaniman , then you can believe anything.

Out of all his four grandparents, ONLY his grandfather (Alh Mutairu Saraki) is of questionable fulani ancentry.

Interestingly, Alh AbdulGaniyu Folorunsho (AGF) Abdulrazaq, the father of the incumbent Governor of Kwara State once publicly granted an interview to the press that Alh Mutairu Saraki (Bukola Saraki's grandfather) personally introduced himself to him as an Abeokuta (Yoruba) man in 1963 but had Quaranic Education at Ilorin while staying with his aunty who married an Ilorin man.

On a personal note, I strongly think Alh Mutairu Saraki was one of the descendants of itinerant Fulani clans who was most likely born in Abeokuta in the course of the family migration from one place to another.
There are many examples of descendants of such itinerant Fulani clans whose great grandfathers were born in Yorubaland and have now adopted Yoruba ethnic group.

I personally dated one of them before and I know several people like that.

Even Dr Olusola Saraki, the father of Bukola Saraki was born and raised in Lagos. He attended Eko Boys High School,Lagos.

In 1964 Federal election, Olusola Saraki contested in Asa (outside of Ilorin).

Their claim to Ilorin is very recent.

BrownRoofRep:

If you go to Otto market after Oyingbo or Agege markets in Lagos, you will see many Hausa traders speaking Hausa while buying and selling, does that mean Hausa language is spoken in Lagos?

If you go to Ama Awusa in Onitsha, Abakaliki or Aba, the Hausa traders speaking Hausa language, does that mean Hausa language is widely spoken in Anambra ,Ebonyi or Abia States?

Hausa language are not part of the languages of Benue or Kogi States.

Yoruba language is more widely spoken in Lokoja than Hausa

In the same ways, there are some Fulanis in Offa, Ijagbo, Kishi, Ogbomosho, Ikoyi and Oyo who have become Yorubas.

Today, the grand children of the late highly successful Oshogbo based Hausa-Fulani businessman, Alh Saidu (Saidu-Gomina) are claiming Yorubas and some have married Yoruba Men/ women

Bros, everybody migrated from somewhere.

After 4th Generation, you can claim the ethnic group you migrated into.

Donald Trump's Great grandfather migrated from Germany to the USA, today he is a proud American and the President of the US.

Sen Fatai Buhari's (APC, Oyo North) great grandfather, an itinerant Fulani cleric migrated from Sokoto to Ogbomosho, today he is a proud Yoruba man.

Gov Goodwin Obaseki is today a proud Bini noble man and the Governor of Edo State but his Great-grandfather was an Ika man who worked at the palace of the Oba of Bini and rose through the ranks to become a High Chief (Agbo Obaseki).

AmaHopeOn:
You won't find anything tangible on the Internet. People write their own history, if someone else writes for you, they will write to their interest and distort the truth. It is still widely believed, education is haram by the Hausa's, while the Fulani's the emirs, politicians, and business men are well educated. The Fulani's are the ones writing, and the same ones writing Hausa/Fulani.

You have to read books from libraries.

You are wrong sir,

Millions of Fulani people have settled in the cities ,they are not in isolation and in the process, they give their females to their host tribes in as much as the suitors are Muslims and substantial cultural assimilation has occurred.

My friend and colleague who served in the North and decided to settle in Kano ditched his Igbo fiancee to marry a Christian Fulani girl at a Catholic Church in Bompai,Kano.

sean079:
May I say there is one heritage that fulani man do not compromise and that is not giving out their female in marriage to another ethnic group. This is what i know very very well. They are also very happy to be in seclusion from other group.
Politics › Re: Where Are The Hausas? by oyatz(m): 6:22pm On Jan 21, 2020
How do you determine who is Fulani and who is Hausa in the North?

It is wrong to say Dantata, Dangote, Ishyaku Rabiu, Buhari are pure Fulanis.

It's more correct to say they are people of mixed Hausa-Fulan-Kanuri ancestries.

AmaHopeOn:
Hausa lead in Business, which business exactly!

I read a post on the Datatas, and I noticed an intentional disturtion of facts. That the danatatas are Hausa's. No, they are not. They are Fulani's.

The Fulani's don't just rule, they control businesses too. Name any thriving business up north, it is owned by Fulani.

Dangote is not hausa, he is Fulani.

The conquest of the Hausa's is not just in their lands, but in the mind too. The average Hausa is dumb, dumb in the sense of not having a mind of their own.

I also know the OP, knows more than he claims and uses a different moniker to fuel this discuss.

There are few Hausa's that are getting liberated, but this few are extremely bitter, but their religion wouldn't let them fight back.

Time, time. The Hausa's will eventually get sense. Give it time, time settles all scores

Please just mention three Nigerian Towns/cities that are FULANI Towns/cities. Definitely not Sokoto, Kano , Katsina or Zauzau (Zaria).

Fulanis are a minority tribe in Nigieria.

Obviously you don't know much about Ilorin.

Go to Oja Oba in the heart of Ilorin and speak the FULANI Language.

Try to attend 7 wedding and naming ceremonies in Ilorin and tell me if they are Yoruba or Fulani ceremonies.

Try to check if these ceremonies are closer to those in Ogbomosho, Oyo, Ibadan or closer to wedding and naming ceremonies in Sokoto ,Zamfara or Gwandu.

Check the Music record stores in Ilorin and see whether it's Yoruba music like Fuji, Juju or Fulani music that is the dominant music genres there.

All the surrounding towns around Ilorin like Offa, Ijagbo, Eiyekorin, Asa and even farther towns like Jebba are Yoruba towns so how can Ilorin become Fulani in isolation?

olril17:
let's keep fooling ourselves in Yorubaland about how fulanis have been yorubanized...yet they want to subjugate jebba and put the town under the Emirates, and they have been trying to to do same to Offa as well.. yorubanized indeed ooo
Politics › Re: Where Are The Hausas? by oyatz(m): 6:19am On Jan 21, 2020
You don't know what you are saying sir.

The Fulanis in Ilorin have been Yorubanized.

Mention just 5 highly successful Fulanis from Ilorin without Yoruba names and blood.

Name 3 widely practice Fulani cultural practices in Ilorin.

Bearing ISLAMIC Names is not the same as bearing FULANI names.

FULANIS don't own Islam.

On the contrary, in 50 years time, it will be very difficult to find traces of FULANI in Ilorin due to cultural assimilation into the larger Yoruba population.

YungMillionaire:
The same thing is happening to the Yorubas in Ilorin. I was shocked when I learnt that the current governor of Kwara state is Yoruba. I mean look at his names. Not a single Yoruba word in his names. i give Ilorin 5 more decades before it is 100% Fulanized.
Politics › Re: Where Are The Hausas? by oyatz(m): 5:57am On Jan 21, 2020
But why crying more than the bereaved?

Most Northern leaders are of mixed Hausa-Fulani ancestries e.g Buhari, Yar'Adua ,Dangote.

The Fulanis in Kano, Katsina or Zaria are only partially Fulanis. Their culture, language and blood has been hausanized.

brightokechukwu:
The Hausas are too docile, even during the pogrom of '66 against the Easterners, the wildly held misconception by many Igbos was that the perpetrators of the killings were Hausas...although true to come extent as some Hausas did participate in the massacres, the truth is that majority of the officers, men and civilians that did the killing were the Fulani and their Middle belt collaborators. The most violent prone set of people in the North are mostly Fulani's and not even Hausas.

Thats why I respect the Kanuri people, pure war-like people who didn't take sh*t from the Fulani invaders, when Fulani invaders tried to conquer their land, Kanuri warriors butchered them like goats and sent them packing from their territory. Hausas on the other hand, are just a lost cause, it's even more interesting to know that no Hausa person has been in power since the history of Nigeria, na mostly Fulani and Northern minorities.

E.g

1) Balarabe = A son born on Thursday

2) Danladi= A son born on Sunday

3) Gambo= A child born after a set of twins

4) Chiroma= First born son of a king or a nobleman = Okpara (Igbo)= Aremo (Old Oyo Yorubas)

5) Shekarau= A child whose pregnancy exceeded the usual 9 months= Omope (Yoruba)

6) Attahiru= The spotless = Ajimotokin (Yoruba)

7) Al-Hassan (From Arabic) = The first son in a set of twins

cool Family trades adopted as surnames e.g
Maimagani= The potent medicines seller.

Note:

1) Most Hausas bear Islamic/Arabic names e.g Abubakar, Fatimah

2) Most Northers adopt the names of their towns/villages as surnames e.g Aminu Kano, Sheu Shagari, Hassan Katsina etc.

However, those from Royal families/dynasties wish to emphasize this by bearing their names plus their father's and grandfather's name e.g Sanusi Lamido Sanusi meaning

Sanusi ,the son of Lamido (a learned Fulaniman) ,the son of Sanusi.

Emir Muhammadu Idrissa Ibn Muhammadu Ambali.

In the North, the main identity is the Islamic identity which bind millions of people together regardless of their ethnic backgrounds

jayfolarin:
This is exactly what I would like to know. Are they truly in bed with the fulani? Or have they been completely oppressed into silence with violence or threat of? Is this a religion brainwashing thing? Or is this all mutual between both parties?

I have a feeling, following the pattern of violence with which the fulani incurses into other regions that fulani's power in the north isn't exactly mutual.
Politics › Re: Where Are The Hausas? by oyatz(m): 12:34am On Jan 21, 2020
Where did you get this story from?

1) Hausa-Fulani has nothing to do with the Biafran war

2) In the NW, most people are actually of mixed ancestries.

3) In the N/E however, the degree of mixed ancestries varies with the prevalence of Islamic religion.

Dedetwo:
In your post, you have touched two issues of mention. The Hausa are conquered ethnic group. When people are ruled by a stranger, in this case an Emir, it is indeed the subjects of Emir are conquered. As for the phrase, Hausa/Fulani, it marked the start of foolery in Nigerian society triggered by Nigeria/Biafra war. Fulani is extremely small in population. However the members of the ethnicity found themselves in the corridor of power due to the shift in balance of rule by Nigeria/Biafra war. In order to make Fulani significantly visible, it became apparently paradoxical to align Fulani with the docile larger ethnic group hence the nonsensical Fulani/Hausa phrase.

All the points you pointed out are already parts of the organization of Amotekun.

Regional organization is not necessarily illegal in Nigeria e.g Northern Governors Forum, the old Bank of the North etc

FriendNG:
1. Every state in Nigeria is independent and there is nothing like regional force. Therefore each southwest state assembly should pass a bill establishing the security watch vigilante group.

2. Each state Amotekun must have a unique registered name (example: Lagos State Amotekun Security Watch, Oyo State Amotekun Security Watch etc).

3. Each state "Amotekun" should have it own individual leader. (Although leaders from different states can have a forum just like Governors forum to exchange ideas)

4. Amotekun members of a particular state cannot work outside the state upon which they are recruited. Example: An Amotekun member of Ekiti state cannot make an arrest or any other security function in Ondo state.

In summary Amotekun cannot be a regional force but state force, unless the constitution is amended for regionalization. In such a case the Southwest House of Representatives will establish it own regional security.
