That's a classical manifestation of what is called VICTIM MENTALITY. I think the root cause of this phenomenon is the unfortunate civil war and the prolonged military rule, which destroyed true federalism and treated the Igbos with suspicion and veiled contempt. Most Igbo youth grew up listening to their parents, uncles or grandparents telling them about the civil war, often portrayed as a war of Good (Igbos) Vs Evil (other Nigerians) Hotfreez: Every December, the Ohaneze has a tradition of displaying stupidity.
Every December, they accuse the FG of instigating fuel crises to impoverish Igbo travellers. There are links here on Nairaland.
Around October, the same Ohaneze accused the FG of closing the borders to punish Igbo businessmen and starve Igbos during Christmas.
I don't know if they don't have sensible people to represent them in Igboland. |

Since 2002, several private companies have been given licenses to build private refineries e.g Orient Oil& Gas under the Chairmanship of Chief Emeka Anyawu and Capt Iheanacho were given licenses to and actually built refineries to different degrees of completion. You can also build your own refinery in your village MrSly: The victimization is clear. I use to know Ibeto and Dangote. Boom! Ibeto was hit hard and he went into oblivion thanks to God who didn't allow him fall completely. The counterpart dangote always has a field day. Zoned South by whom, who exactly has such powers to give a Geo-political zone the presidency? Yoruba politicians (just like Nupe, Ijaw or Fulanislaves politicians can do the same) in the APC can scheme for other power blocks in their party to support them to get APC ticket in 2023 but this is not exactly the same thing as presidency being zoned south. What if APC doesn't win? We are no longer practicing one party system. Getting APC presidential ticket doesn't automatically translate to getting the presidency. Yoruba politicians in the PDP can (should also) contest for the PDP ticket in 2023. Atiku, Wike, Kwankwanso or Peter Obi are also free to contest for the PDP too. This is how to nurture democratic culture without unnecessary butterness and acrimony mrvitalis: Why are u guys fighting for presidency to be zoned south ...let's kill zoning contest na let's see |

Read my post slowly and without prefixed mind. I said different parties determine how they chose their candidates. Who has the authority to force a political party to chose from a particular zone? Does the South necessarily mean ONLY one Geopolitical zone? # On my own personal note, I will strongly suggest that the contest should be thrown open for ALL Nigerians. It's a question of time, power will go round without the acrimony and negative emotions associated with the highly divisive concept of zoning. However, I am neither a Party Chairman or a delegate. mrvitalis: One mouth u want presidency zoned to the south ...you want to shut out the north

The problem with people like you is that you approach political issues solely from emotional points of view based largely on unfounded sentiments rather than a pragmatic and realistic views. 1) Have you ever sat down to ask why the PDP is not saying 'it is the turn of the Igbos'? Every party looks for candidates that can win elections for them. 2) Zoning is in the PDP and not in the Constitution of Nigeria. Because of this fact, there is no widely agreed order zoning or any authority to enforce it. Even within the PDP, when Good luck Jonathan wanted to run in 2011 against the zoning arrangement of the party, the Northern political power brokers took him to court in an attempt to force him out of the presidential race but the Court ruled that the PDP zoning formula couldn't be enforced because it's inferior to the Constitution. 3) There is no way you can completely shut out other Nigerians from the race and insist that ONLY candidates from the S/East should buy presidential forms and participate in presidential primaries of their parties. 4) There have NEVER been any presidential primaries in which ONLY candidates from one tribe/Geopolitical zone participated. 5) If an Igbo candidate wins the presidential primaries of the APC or the PDP, it's possible for him to win the general election but to think that you can force other Nigerians out of the race without contest but just by shouting Afonja or sitting down in your comfort zone and be abusing others saying ' you are greedy, it's our turn', you will be disappointed. mrvitalis: Do u even know who zoning is the brain child of ? Its Alex akwueme ...its based on geopolitical zone ,one south ,one north
Its only greed that would make south west contest after spending 16 years in the presidency ..when Igbo's have none
Na only una dey south ...
The main point of zoning is so that every geopolitical zone get to rule this country ...now u are twisting it to fit your narrative
Thought u guys say what's turn power is given u only need to build bridge ...how far your 2015 bridge is it still standing strong ? |

Honestly I don't understand this fixation on Tinubu. 1) Is it compulsory that Tinubu must support a presidential candidate? 2) Why are you not interested in which presidential candidate is Chief Bode George, Dr Bukola Saraki or Mr Akinwunmi Ambode is supporting for 2023? 3) Does Tinubu have the right to support whoever he likes, just like Abubakar, Ishola, Emeka, Owen, Hauwa or any other Nigerian does? Why does it becomes an issue on who Tinubu is supporting? Why does it becomes greed if Tinubu decides to support Mr-A instead of Mr-B? dam4sam: GREED is a very toxic attribute and it is why l think your permutation up there may not come to reality. Tinubu is only interested in himself and what is in it for himself, not the betetrment of the South West.
His Greed will not allow him to support Prof Osinbajo, evenwhen it is obvious that he has shown 'capacity to lead'. Now, will he put Fashola forward as a replacement to himself, even if just to bring Osinbajo down? I dont think so because if anyone has undermined Fashola since his attempt at second term when he was Governor of Lagos, it is Tinubu.
Tinubu just does not like or want any other Yoruba person to have infulence or be recognised more than him. All his Politics are based on that singular, greedy ambition and that is why he pulls them down as quickly as possible. He wont Support either of Fashola or PYO, both of who are more sellable than him but would rather support a Northerner. |

Excuse me sir, I am not particularly a fan of Tinubu but the ways you people talk about and attribute so many things to him look very funny to me. What exactly do you mean by the 'greed of Tinubu'? Tinubu is a private citizen who has not been in any Government since 2007 and has never held any Federal Government office. How can such a private citizen aspiring to be the President of his country be termed greed and how can such aspiration lead to the break up of the country? myobjective: I am Yoruba but I must give it to you as one of the most enlightened contributor here on nairaland. The reality is the core north will use greed to destroy the one Nigeria they so much depend on for their sustainability.

Obviously you have a deep seated hatred for Tinubu but we must say the truth; 1) Tinubu is a private citizen. He is neither the I.G of police ,the Alaafin of Oyo, a Governor or the President. 2) Tinubu, like all citizens have the right to contest for any election, including the presidential election. The whole issues about a presidential election can't be centered on a private citizen. 3) It's not compulsory to win an election. Only one candidate can win at a time. Any citizen who believes in the democratic culture can run for elections with the fore knowledge that only one candidate (which may or may not be him) can win at a time. 4) Tinubu is NOT the cause of all the problems of Nigeria. Even if Tinubu drops dead today, all these problems will persist. 5) Tinubu is just one out of the numerous politicians in the Country. It's not compulsory that he must support whoever you support or must view issues exactly like you do. 6) You are free to vote against Tinubu and/or support your candidate who is in the same moral pedestal with Angel Gabriel. dam4sam: Whoever is decieving him that he can win a Presidential election in Nigeria, needs to be flogged and then given a brain transplant! The losers in all these, will be the Yorubas of the South West, if they ever allow Tinubu to hijack their Presidential ticket because he wont be able to rig nationally (as he does in Lagos ) and the party will lose to the Presidential election to opposition, very easily. Tinubu is a bad Product, a ticket-liability (he is still useful in rigging lagos election and unleashing violence on te opposition in Lagos) and his desperation and manipulations of the wishes of the people, needs to be checkmated for the organic growth of our democracy.
He has been sucking-up tp the Northerners and Buhari, defending the indefensible just to curry favor from Northerners, remianed connivingly-silent even when everyone sees the injustice in the incaceration of a Yoruba son in the person of Omoyele Sowore, disgraced Pa Fasonranti when his daughter, Mrs Funke Olakurin was slaughtered by Fulani HErdsmen-turn-kidnappers and has been fleecing Lagosians for God knows how long. #EnoughIsEnoughTinubu |

Nigerian politics has gone beyond purely inter-tribal contest that you assume it to be. Where did you get this funny notion that the Yorubas gave powers to the Fulanis? There is NO ethnic group in Nigeria that can give power in the way you are portraying. Politicians from different zones form alliances to compete for power. However, for certain reasons which I need not discuss here, most parties feel they will lose even before the election should they give their ticket to the S/East in 2023. It's because of this factor that even the PDP which has the S/East has it's greatest stronghold is very mute about the idea of the SE 2023 project. mrvitalis: I never said north killed zoning ...I said it early u lack basic comprehension skills
