Jonathan ought to have made Strategic investments in Maritime and Oil& Gas industries in ways that will benefit many NIGERIANS and nobody will complain if there are sighted in the most appropriate location; The Niger-Delta! Onne Port and Ibaka deep seaport could have been built with functional railways to transport goods to and fro by partnering with the States' Governments, prominent Indigenes of these States, Nigerians in Diaspora, power brokers (across party lines) in other parts of Nigeria and super corrupt Nigerians who have the money to bring down any Government or cause troubles. Niger Delta militants won't be blowing up oil installations in their States if they themselves are made part owners of these oil installations. Dangote, Abdusamad Rabiu, El-Rufai , Danjuma and Northern Business class will tell their Trouble makers to shut up if they also have vested interests in these projects. Fantastically corrupt Nigerians that have stached Billions of dollars in Swiss, Dubai or Panama banks can be prevailed upon to return parts of these loots in 'forms of shares' in these companies. Believe you me, the Wealth in Nigeria if properly managed is enough to go round with far less acrimony. |
There were more money from RENTS collected from International Oil Companies for the sales of Nigerian crude oil during the Jonathan's Administration than in any era in this Country. Jonathan, coming from an oil rich but marginalized Region ought to help in diversifying the economy and empowered the Niger-Delta NIGERIANS in gaining strategic control in the Oil &Gas industry. For instance, instead of empowering Asari Dokubo, Ateke Tom, Tompolo, Pa Edwin Clark and numerous individuals, why didn't GEJ set up modular refineries on a PPP basis in Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Akwa-Ibom and Edo States? In this way, our import bill on importation of petroleum products would have reduced by 80%, creating more jobs for the Indigenes of these States. Below is a template of Ownership structure of one of the Refineries let say in Bayelsa State. FG= 25%, Bayelsa State= 35% Pa Edwin Clark= 5% Oando oil or Forte Oil=5% Northern potential trouble makers=10% Tompolo or Asari Dokubo=5% Other Niger-Delta militants and potential spoilers= 10% Aurthur Eze or Emeka Offor's chrome oil= 5% Bede2u: |
Excuse me sir, Is it illegal to sell vulture meat? GMbuharii: |
Relax and be happy bro, ATIKU is coming! roymary: |
Where is Vulcanizer to inflate our tyres at the first junction? I can't see any place for the roadside woman selling roasted banana & groundnut. Where will Mama Nkechi's Pepper soup joint be in the Plan nau? Where will the Danfo park be nau? Where will the residents burn their refuse in this place? Where will Ogbonna display his Okrika wears? Where will Bukky Danku be selling her 'Paraga'? The design doesn't show any Mosque or Church. W3LLAND3R: |
I know you can NOT change. This is NOT a Jonathan Vs Buhari narrative. I asked you to list Jonathan's achievements in the S/East because of the wrong statement you made that his administration was a period of infrastructural development. I strongly supported Jonathan in 2009- 2011 and expected more from him because; * He was the most educated President * He had the best experience in a democratic setting * I believed he made it to the President largely on Divine Providence, he is a man of Destiny * Most importantly, he was from the most marginalized region of Nigeria and from a minority tribe. I expected him to write many wrongs right in the land. Sir, it very wrong to assume that anyone who criticize the Government is a supporter of the opposition e.g any Citizen who criticize Jonathan must be a fan of Buhari/APC or any Citizen criticizing Buhari must be a fan/supporter of Jonathan/PDP. Both Buhari and Jonathan are NOT great leaders that can take Nigeria out of the woods. Bede2u: |
Excuse me sir, what exactly are these guys selling? DIKEnaWAR: |
So these are what you called ground breaking sir? The whole world can now see the reason why this is not a great Country. The citizens of this Country genuflect to mediocrity! Designating a particular Airport as International Airport is an achievement The same airport that was flooded after spending billions on its "International wing'' without completing it despite being in power for 5 solid years? Bede2u: |
We are on the same page sir. The problem of the South-South like the problems of Ebonyi, Ekiti, Jigawa, Taraba, Ogun or Anambra State is POOR LEADERSHIP. However, you need to know that crude oil is not presently being extracted in Anambra State, though the State may have huge deposit of crude oil. The largest proportion of Nigerian crude oil is NOT extracted from the territories of any State per se but from offshore (under the SEA) in the continental shelf. With improved Technology, commercial crude oil in different degrees of specifications will be discovered in about 17 States in Nigeria but all these will NOT transform Nigeria into a First world country,it will only produce about 10-12 Billionaires. michelz: |
Please mention three ground breaking achievements of Jonathan in the S/East between May 05,2010- May29,2015. Bede2u: |
It's people like you that think Afonja is a derograttory name. Just go to Facebook and type Afonja, you will see hundreds of Yoruba names bearing Afonja as surnames. It's an ancient Yoruba name given to a child whose placenta cut during delivery. There is nothing bad in the name. Afonja, the Historic Generalisimo of the Old Oyo Empire and the provincial Governor of Ilorin was a great man. He like all mortals made his own errors of judgement. Chipink: |
Sir,name the States that have the highest budgets in Nigeria. What's the budget of Osun State Vs Akwa-Ibom, Oyo State Vs Rivers, Osun Vs Delta. Lagos State budget is high, NOT due to it's Federal allocation but largely due to it's IGR. googi: |
The real causes of underdevelopment in the Niger-Delta is not that much different from the problem of underdevelopment of Nigeria- POOR LEADERSHIP. 1) I am a staunch advocate of resource control. However, great resources will not necessarily translate to great development. 2) The Niger-Delta States' revenues which case other States don't have include a) 13% derivatives b) NDDC c) Ministry of the Niger-Delta Affairs d) Presidential amnesty payments e) Corporate social responsibilities of the International Oil Companies. 3) The resources already available in every State is not optimally exploited and judiciously utilized. The people of Niger-Delta like the people of (Oyo, Osun , Anambra or Kwara) should hold their leaders accountable first before pointing accussing fingers at others as the cause of their underdevelopment. includeauthor=Gentlewarrior1 post=81023538] Sir this are my reasons 1. The bulk of the nations wealth comes from the south south. They even other resources apart from crude oil which is number 1 2. Their leaders, the governors. The people needs to demand more because they deserve it and due to oil exploration they are suffering I mean i see no reason why Anambra, oyo etc should be more developed than bayelsa and other south south state Ogoni cleanup how many years now yet nothing. The people don't want to talk. To me niger delta own suffering is somehow worst than the north because they are so blessed. The wealth of niger delta is more than enough to over enrich them Infact their capital states is mediocre if you ask me Honestly if i were from an oil producing community i will do everything within my power to make sure the government provide basic amenities if they don't then i will mobilise fellow youths and force the government to do it. But niger delta millitants were given peanuts and they all drop the struggle thinking they are wise whereas . Outsiders are raking in millions and billions of dollars from your community while you and your people are suffering. Because i know if it were to be Igbos, yorubas or especially Hausa/Fulani they won't easily tolerate this. Atleast they will get something tangible out of it Niger delta money is been used to develop the rest of naija especially Abuja Lagos and kano while the people of niger delta suffer Well that's not my business though. I am only saying all this because there's a certain place i saw in delta and i couldn't believe my eyes. It was horrible[/quote] |

It is Sowore and NOT his kids that is an activist. . ...By the way, why didn't your dad send you to school in New York? At least he isn't an activist. Tina26: |
You are very funny sir. 1) Why do you think the South-South should be the most developed part of Nigeria? 2) Who do you think should be reponsible for their development? Gentlewarrior1: |
Excuse me sir, 1) Whose faults is it that only the States' capitals of the South-South States are fairly well developed? Who do you think is responsible for the development or underdevelopment of Brass, Opobo, Sagbama, Pateni, Bomadi, Ogbe-Ijaw, Oron, Eket, Ikot Abasi, Onne, Nembe,Aboh, Agenebode, Sapele or Warri? 2) What will the South-South gain if the militants are still in operation and what will they lose if the militants are still operating in the creeks, bombing oil pipelines? Do you honestly believe that Niger Delta Youth militancy will lead to development of the Niger-Delta? 3) If you support prolonged Youth militancy in the Niger Delta, will you also support the Youths in Afikpo, Bende, Isialangwa, Mbaise, Ohafia or Orlu to embark on widespread bombing of oil pipelines and Government installations in their areas? 4) What give you the impression that Sokoto, Zamfara or Kebbi are well developed? Gentlewarrior1: |
This woman is mispresenting the facts to gain unnecessary sympathy. The said document she was to sign was invitation based on the FORMAL complaints of conspiracy, false rape accussation and defamation lodged against her by Fatoyinbo. Since it's Fatoyinbo that lodged the complaint, you don't expect the allegations to be against him. On Dakolo being the first to Lodge a complaint; Fatoyinbo had earlier been invited by the Police without him making a show of it on social media or granting press conference over it like the Dakolos like to do. On the 'gun point' issue; every police invitation is accompanied by an armed police officer. Police Officers without arms have been malhandled and some severely beaten for trying to invite a suspect or conduct a search. |
There is nothing you will do that will surprise anybody sir. The whole World already know where you putting your votes come 2023. TSRC: |
I thought you people are rooting for Tambuwal or Kwankwanso or Atiku for 2023? TSRC: |
Jonathan has reconstructed Onitsha port to world class River port. dirtydiva: |

You are free to hate Tinubu sir. It's your right to hate Tinubu or anybody just as some people also hate you. You don't need to give us any sanctimonious sermon why you do. I just notice that those who hate Tinubu are also part of his marketers. Bede2u: |
Many young Igbos online like Bede2u hate Tinubu with passion but inadvertently, they are one of the greatest promoters of the Tinubu consciousness in our National polity by talking about him online every day. |
Nigeria will be to you what you wish it to be. As some people like you are saying Nigeria is cursed and nothing good will come out of the Country, Mallam Isa is building #7 Billion modular refinery in Imo State and Obi Jackson is building a #2Billion real estate property in Lagos. As some people are embittered about Nigeria, some Asians (Chinese, Indians and Lebanese) are looking for ways to get to Nigeria, the land of opportunities! NkayStory: |
This kind of Post and several other posts on Nairaland will show you why what Chimamanda is asking for may not come in the nearest future. chiagozien: |
