Nigerians are intelligent.
Politics is a game of numbers. In Politics, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.
Lawan and Gbajabiamila have lost in 2015 and now won in 2019, so let's be happy for them for once and wish them (and Nigeria) good luck

Nooo. They both pass laws and if there is disagreement, they can organizes joint committee sittings to harmonize the different versions.

The two Chambers ensure thorough representation both based on population (House) and based on equality of States (Senate).

In addition , the Senate carry out certain functions which the House does not.

As much as the majority of South East are in PDP but their APC members put a good show for President Buhari in the last election. Compare 2019 to 2015 presidential election you will notice that they performed much better than their South West counterparts. Buhari got more votes from South East in 2019 than in 2015 and the reverse was the case in South West. They deserved to be appreciated if APC is a party of equity. NASS leadership is a way of appreciating good party member, it is directly of no value to a region as a whole. Even Kwara State as we know is a cesspit yet Saraki was a Senate President. All the positions are for personal gain so APC should be reasonable enough to appreciate their co-party members who stood by them against all odds.

Calm down Bros, nobody can scheme out the Igbos in the Politics of this country, it's just impossible!

Abdulazeez99:
As the battle of political power-play of who and what zone gets the high profile positions in the ninth National Assembly goes on, as the ninth Assembly is set for its inauguration on Tuesday this week, Igbere TV decided to have an interview with Hon. Demian Igbokwe, an APC chieftain and National Coordinator of COALITION OF SOUTH EAST YOUTHS FOR BUHARI (COSYB), a Buhari Support Group that played a major role for Mr President in the 2019 General Elections, to hear hi opinion as to what he thinks about the tussle of zoning in the 9th NASS as it seems the Southeast is being left behind.

In a brief interview with our correspondent in Abuja, Hon. Igbokwe while pouring out his heart about the current happenings in the national politics said that excluding the South East from the ninth NASS leadership will spell doom for the nation as a whole.

We sought to know how he feels about the clamour for the Southeast to be accommodated in the 9th Assembly, Hon. Igbokwe has this to say:

“It’s against the federal character arrangement for this Administration to look the other way while the Southeast is sidelined in the helms of political affairs. It’s absurd for anyone to refer to the Southeast as a zone the nation can do without.

I am seeing a nation drifting into total disunity, and I am surprised that those running the system are very comfortable with it. It’s also very sad for anyone to subject the Southeast to the condition of begging to be accommodated. How do we reconcile the fact that the third leg of a tripod is being neglected in a nation State where the Igbo, the Yoruba and the Hausa/Fulani are the biggest three?

Is it not funny that the Yoruba and the Hausa/Fulani want to take everything with what they have introduced as a new lexicon in our national politics? They ask:What did the Southeast bring to the table? When did that become a national benchmark for national inclusion on the basis of population, spread and just whatever?

“We have had Assemblies before this 8th and 9th. All the previous Assembly arrangements have been accommodative to all the zones of the nation, why would the 8th and 9th Assemblies be such a ridiculous set-up? If you have six or ten offices to share among six geopolitical zones, why would any zone take two at the expense of others? We can now see through the hypocrisy of some of our so-called leaders!

When Sen. Ngige had failed to return to the 8th Assembly, the leaders of our Party were busy telling anyone who cared to listen that if only the former Governor had returned, he would have been automatically anointed President of the Senate.

Compare then to now,how many Senators-elect do we have? It’ s aIl cheap politics. I once heard my friend from the southwest say that the Southeast didn’t vote APC and, as such, shouldn’t expect much.

Again, as I said before, I have always found that laughable, because, the Southeast voted for the APC, but results were written against APC by the Southeast PDP which, I believe, was done in connivance with a part of APC high command. I know what I am saying because I participated fully in the elections. I am not ashamed to say it,we from the Southeast played into the hands of those who do not want any good for us.”

“The INEC dribbling on Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s Certificate of Return, the INEC-mediated impasse on Sen. Ben Uwajumogu’s re-election and the speed with which the all-scarce Certificate of Return was issued to Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba of Accord, who came third in that election ,by the same INEC that are delaying that of Rochas after court ruling, while withdrawing that of Hon. Chike Okafor.

All of these are a sad proof that somebody or a group somewhere does not want to see the Igbo in a major political position in the land and I am surprised that our leaders are not talking, they are all systematically gagged! All of these were orchestrated,in the first place,to quarantine the Southeast into a cull de sac from where we can merely plead,as we are doing, for a crumb from the master’s table without a position in the next Assembly or any where that could offer us a strong leadership voice in the country.”

“From the arrangement on ground, the Muslim/ Muslim slot will tell badly of the next Assembly! The Senate President, a Muslim and the Speaker and his Deputy, from all indications, Muslims.

The Judiciary, another arm of government itself, is also headed by a Muslim;both at the level of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.

So what has happened to our balancing ideals in a secular State like ours? Or have we suddenly become an Islamic nation without knowing as some are wont to allege? APC, are we that insensitive to fundamental realities and nuances as a Party or are we condemned, cursed to make these mistakes that will never allow any escape route when President Buhari eventually ends his tenure in 2023?

When that time comes, who will bail the cat for the APC?

Among those currently on parade as national and regional leaders of the Party I see no head that can fly past all the realities I have itemised; unless and, of course, until the Party chooses to retrace its steps from the path of perdition that we have witnessed in recent times. Thank you.”

I will scroll down, read and watch how they will blame 'Afonja' for this.

okenikpoto:
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is being berated by the hundreds of its members and supporters who were asked to pay $20 (CAD) to enter into the venue of a town hall meeting being held by the leader of the group, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The event which held at the La Victoria Banquet Hall and Convention Centre in North York, Toronto Sunday night witnessed so many members of the group and Igbos in Canada coming to welcome the leader of the group but were shocked when organizers started demanding for a $20CAD (N5600) admittance fee that was not announced in the posters calling for the event.

Nnamdi Kanu has been in North America and visited several cities in the United States before arriving Friday evening in Toronto Canada.
According to the event posters which well circulated to the Igbo communities across Canada, the event was to mark the Biafra 52 Yeats Memorial Day and started with a Heroes and Heroines Remembrance Day which held on Thursday May 30, 2019 at Queens Park in Toronto followed by a solemn service and procession from Queens Park to the United States Embassy to submit a petition calling for Biafra.

The town hall was scheduled for 5pm on June 9, 2019 at 69 Milvan Drive, North York, Toronto and was signed by the factional IPOB coordinator, Tim Okafor. There was never any mention of gate fee for the event.

Also, the event which also appeared on the one of the Igbo communities association in Toronto, Igbo Union, made a clarion calls to all well-meaning Biafrans to attend the event.

The announcement read, “IPOB Townhall Meeting, June 9 2019
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Town hall meeting in Toronto Canada
The IPOB Supreme Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be holding a town hall meeting with all Biafrans in Canada on June 9th, 2019. This is a clarion call to all well-meaning Biafrans to attend.
Details are as shown in the flyer below:
Date: Sunday, June 9th , 2019
Venue: La Victoria Banquet Hall and Convention Centre
69 Milvan Drive, North York ON M9L 1Y8
Time: 5 pm-9 pm.

Also, there was no mention of any gate fee. It was very embarrassing for the attendees to the event to be asked to dish out $20 to gain entrance, and this is coming on the heels of a receipt that surfaced recently indicating that a monthly fee of N500 is being collected by the organization from their members across Nigeria.

“This is not how to treat members. There was no mention of a gate fee and I came with my family to the event only to be asked to pay for every member of my family. It is so sad that IPOB is now being used as a money-making venture and I am so disappointed in Nnamdi Kanu for this kind of exploitation,” said one of the aggrieved members.

IPOB Canada has been having a leadership tussle between Tim Okafor and Dr Anicetus Okanga who both claim to be the National Coordinator of IPOB in Canada. The Okanga led faction was instrumental to bringing a renowned US lawyer, Bruce Fein, to Toronto last year and no gate fee was charged. It was then worrisome that the Tim Okafor led faction who organized the town hall meeting held Sunday may have decided to cash in from the people that attended the event.

“It is very disgraceful for the IPOB now to be asking for gate fee, it is very wrong and may put the organization in jeopardy should this gets to Revenue Canada that they are making a business out of Nnamdi Kanu’s visit,” said one Chinedu Ukonu.
Another aggrieved member who left the venue said that what he witnessed was so embarrassing and an eye-opener to Ndigbo on what the main objective of IPOB is.

“Now we know what Nnmadi Kanu is using IPOB to do. And this is how he intends to run Biafra.”

Yes, you are very correct.

Many of the people in APC are working underground to ensure that an Igboman becomes the President in 2023.

RTSC:
That is the fact I have been saying.

The fulani owners of the apc want an igbo presidency because they forsee the hand writing on the wall.
They know an apc without igbos is an opposition in the long run, and the pdp will capitalize.
It is not feasible.

And it is no wonder, the SGF have publicly called for igbo presidency in 2023.

It is the Yoruba in the apc that are running faster than their shadows, without any recourse to long term political realities.

2023 is going to be interesting. Nothing is set in stone yet as far as the apc is concerned.

What die hard Buhari's supporters fail to know is that there can NOT be peace without Justice.

Global terrorism index is NOT done by America or one particular country.

Fulani militia is not the same as the Fulani ethnic group.

Genocide carried out by the end of Fulani Herdsmen is terrorism and NOT inter-tribal crisis.

When one group numbering about 250 young men fully armed with sophisticated automatic riffles invade your village at 2: 30am shooting anybody at sight, burning your houses and all your belongings and moving their herds of cattle to occupy the village for months and FG army
don't protect your people but rather swiftly move to prevent you from reprisal attacks, do you call this inter-tribal crisis?

Officialgarri:
And what right does a foreign body have to label a tribe in another country a terror group?

This is a slap on the face of Nigeria. It doesn't matter if Fulani tribes men carry out attacks but we must know that Fulani is still an ethnic race in Nigeria and therefore, the attacks could be termed an intertribal conflict.
Except the Nigerian Government declares otherwise.

How would it feel if Nigeria helps America to label the crip and blood gang who carry our murder on daily basis a terror group?

Hausas aren't the only people in this country. It's a great myth that an igboman or indeed any Nigerian from certain tribes can't win a presidential election.
This myth has aquired a life of it's own because we haven't practiced democracy consistently for a long period.

If we have been practicing democracy since 1966 without military intervention, many myths would have been bursted.

If Igbos can convince 4 Geo-political zones out of the 6, they can win a presidential election but this will take time, resources and careful planning.
