Before Abaribe, they was an Arthur Nzeribe and his ABN that played critical roles in the annulment of the Jun12,1993 election.
Later they will be complaining that other Nigerians....

spiralwedge:
Senator Eyinanya Abaribe (Abia South), had raised a motion that the country had no President or Acting President at the moment, adding that

Name checkers, where una dey? Food don land.

You see why these people can't be trusted in Nigerian politics?

What an opportunist and cowardly traitor! Instead of using his privileges to address issuea facing his people, he's trying to set the Senate up.

He is even dumb, how did he get there? So, when a president goes abroad for an official assignment, the seat is vacant? How daft?

Never let the Igbo smell that presidency please. And let them go. Can't deal

Are there Yoruba PDP members?
Are Gov Fayose, Bode George, FFK etc Yoruba or Igbos?

PointZerom:
I said it yesterday that this is a planned game just to test the waters but some Afonjas were insulting me. The truth is that Saraki is more of PDP member than he is to APC this informs the reason why a PDP sinator was first to move the motion. It baffles me that some Yorubas are still seeing Saraki as a Yoruba man. PITY.

Most people in Nigeria wrongly assume that Nigeria or various tribes of oil producing region own oil, this is not true at all.

1) The oil companies ( mostly foreign) own the oil.
They went to borrowed billions of dollars from reputable financial institutions, paid for prospecting licenses, drill and extract oil, sometimes from the depth of the ocean and sell the crude oil while paying an agreed percentage of the proceeds to the federation account.

2) The knotty issue is that they pay whatever they like because, Nigeria doesn't have the technical capacity to determine the actual quantity of oil they extract...this illustrate the superiority of knowledge over ignorance.

3) When Nigerians, especially the Niger deltans militants shout 'our oyel' they don't know that the oil is only theirs in name but in reality, the oil companies own the oil.

4) The best way for these oil rich region to fully achieve resource control is through ECONOMIC means.
Let the Governments and peoples of the Niger Delta float their own oil companies, sell shares to foreign technical partners, sell like 10% of the shares to other Nigerians in companies that will be publicly quoted on the stock exchanges in Nigeria, London, New York or J'burg and start businesses.. They can't lose, they have comparative advantages over the Northerners and Afonja they love to accuse of undue benefit from oil.

5) If they must be genuine peace in the oil rich Niger Delta region, I expect sensible FG to deliberately encourage direct participation of the Niger Delta peoples in the oil industry ...militants won't be blowing oil installations if Delta, Bayelsa States Governments, Tompolo, Edwin Clark, GEJ, Asari-Dokubo & other potential trouble makers are part owners of oil refineries scattered across Akwa-Ibom , Bayelsa,Ondo to Delta States.
The FG can even give out money to workers in the oil companies to buy shares in the oil companies while repayment is done by monthly minimal deductions from their salaries over 10years, so when they retire, they become pensioners-shareholders...you won't like to sabotage a company where you are eating and also co-owner.

6) The youthful energy, mental capacity and financial resources used in Militancy can take Nigeria to a new height if properly channeled to productive ventures.
Politics › Re: Asari Dokubo: "Lagos Will Be Nothing Without Ijaw Oil" (Video Interview) by oyatz(m): 11:12pm On Jul 04, 2017
Its like you are impervious to reason.
1)I said no city/State develop because of a single factor and gave you interaction of factors but you keep shifting the goals, shouting oil money now, then claiming its the FG and now the British later.

2) Lagos has been a maritime city for over 500 years, this factor make it a destination for many peoples from diverse backgrounds; Portuguese, British, Germans, Americans, returned slaves, Arabs/Muslim missionaries and peoples from other African empires/kingdoms

3) Through out history, areas that are receptacles for diverse peoples often provide fertile grounds for cross fertilization of ideas, exchange of skills and articles of trade with improved civilization.

4) The peoples and leaders of Lagos made and are still making tremendous contribution to the development of the city... Whether you are willing to give them credit for it or not doesn't detract from this fact.

5) The British only settled on Lagos Island, a very small part of Lagos state... It wasn't the business or interest of the British colonialists to develop Lagos or Nigeria as a whole, colonialism was an economic venture!

6) The old federal capital was limited to only 5LGAs (Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Eti-Osa, Apapa and a part of Surulere) and it is not exactly the same as Lagos state.
Ikeja, Mushin, Shomolu, Epe, Oshodi etc were never part of the federal capital.

7) The Federal capital has been relocated for over a quarter of a century ,yet Lagos has developed more than when it was the capital.

cool The South south States and Kano State receive
great fund from 'oil money' than Lagos.

Oil money alone doesn't explain the development of any city/country.
Both Brazil and Nigeria are oil producing countries but Brazil is ahead of Nigeria virtually in all aspects

Get education, read about political economy and the history of Lagos with an open mind.
Cheers.

No city/ Statedevelop because of one single reason and development is not static, it is very dynamic... That's why a fishing village of Dubai in 1960 can be a World class city in 2017.
Lagos' development is due to a complex interraction of the forces of its GEOGRAHY, lts people &leaders and Political fortune.

Why was Lagos made the Capital of Nigeria upon almagamation in 1914, why not Onitsha, Port Harcourt, Benin city, Warri or Ilorin?..

Aug 6,1861: Lagos treaty of cession signed between the British Government and Oba Dosunmu of Lagos, so Lagos already had British administration between 1861- 1914 (53 years) and was more developed than the rest of Nigeria.

Before 1914, Lagos had street lights, drainage systems, telephone, electricity, postal services, hospitals, schools, churches & mosques, shops and a fairly educated populace .

Get education, read widely, be an informed mind...its in your best interest.

Cheers.

The investments of Dangote, Abdulsamad Rabiu and T.Y Danjuma dwarf the investments of Igbo's in Lagos and I have never seen a northerner shouting they own 50% (abi na 85%) of the economy of Lagos or declaring that Lagos has become a no man's Land.

The problems with people like you is that, you get high with a dangerous blend of politics, tribalism, ignorance and pseudo-economics.
Politics and tribalism (sustained on ignorance) mix well but but not with economics.
1) The oil companies HQs are not even in Nigeria to start with.
2) If Nigeria divides to whatever number, the oil in the Niger delta will still have to be drilled, explored and exported by those who have the capital, technical experience and managerial capacities, not necessarily Ijaw,Itshekiri, Ogoni or Ikwerre tribal chiefs or militants... This is the reason why we still depend on multinational oil companies to extract the oil in Nigeria.

3)Oil companies don't have to be in only countries that have crude oil
Are you aware there are many crude oil refineries in India and Singapore with out one litre of crude oil?
Oil refineries are like cassava processing mills, they can be located anywhere in as much as the owners can get cassava from any markets to process... Oil refineries can purchase crude oil from international market ,refine it and sell the products anywhere they like, it doesn't have to involve Niger Delta.
4) Otedola deals with downstream sector of the oil I.e importing and distribution of petroleum products...bombing of oil pipelines will rather increase his wealth because electricity supply will drop and more people/companies will depend on (Imported) diesel to run heavy duty generators.
5) Distingeration of Nigeria will make Lagos richer than what it is now...its a topic for another day/post.
Cheers

misano:
1. I'm not Igbo by tribe.

2. I don't believe relocating HQs will make Niger Delta any better because D Niger Deltans used their own hands to push these companies out by bombing & kidnapping D expatriate workers.

3. Lagos state is what it is today because they have always had good leaders, that use their allocation to build D region.

Now answer my questions. If Nigeria did not have oil will these oil companies be existing? If they divide Nigeria today will all those HQs not return to Niger Delta? Will the Lagos state be able to enjoy the oil tax from the oil companies? If Niger Deltans start blowing up oil pipeline will Otedola not feel it financially? If Nigeria is divided today will those Nigerians & government official that have oil blocks still have it?

I will say this again, directly or indirectly, every region has gained and will continue to gain from the Niger Delta oil.

1)Your assertion is not correct.
2) Oil is a commodity of trade and there is no crime is investing in the oil business.
Even after disintegration, those people will still be in oil business just as foreigners still dominate Nigerian oil industry.
3)Not every oil is Niger Delta oil.
Importation of diesel and kerosene from Venezuela, Brazil or Morocco and distributing it all over Nigeria have nothing to do with Niger Delta oil... Even every body in the Niger Delta depend on IMPORTED OIL
4) Stop listenin to Radio Biafra, sart your own oil companies and stop complaining
Cheers

Which one should we believe now?

Fearlez:
and you're liking America to Nigeria, a place of naturalised oddity!

In Nigeria private individuals or firms do not make the rules. The body in charge of ports in Nigeria is the one and only Nigeria port authority (NPA) not even state government can meddle in this.
Everything, from airport, to seaport and railway system is Government exclusively. Not in America where Government lias with private institutions in research and partnership. The only times Government here are prepared to collaborate with private institutions is in double taxation of the citizens.
I believe the systematic neglect of other ports in the country is a deliberate move borne out of propaganda and fear of the unknown.

1) Oil companies, like all other private companies have rights to run their business (in a legal way) anyhow they like and have the right to have their HQs anywhere under the sun just like you can't order Innoson or Champion newspapers or Ekenedili Chukwu to locate their HQs in a particular State.
2) The oil companies (Chevron, ExxonMobil,Shell, Total,Agip etc) HQs are actually in America,Paris ,Amsterdam and London.
What they have in Nigeria are operational offices.
3) Nigerian oil companies are still crawling behind these multinational oil companies.
4) Petroleum marketing companies like Ondo, MRS, Forte oil and independent marketers only buy petrol from large scale importers or they themselves IMPORT from Venezuela, Brazil, Morocco and distribute across Nigeria... Most of them have nothing to do with Niger Delta.
They are ordinary private companies, they can locate their HQs anywhere.
5) Stop listening to propaganda on Radio Biafra, You too can start your oil company and site the HQ in your Town.

Lagos to me is the biggest leeches. If yoruba so believe that they solely made what it is as they claim, why is that rest of SW looks like a piece of sh1t whom the government have to treat like an IDP camp.

Let's test a theory, let every oil company HQ migrate back to wherever they drill their oil from. Close down every non yoruba companies in SW and have them return back to each region they hail from, then let's wait and see the progress of Lagos.
