And from the facts realted above,he didnt kill the guy instantly ,he went looking for a cutlass.the law is the killing must have been done in the heat of passion.like u open ur bedroom door and u see ur wife giving a Mouth Action to nother man.if u kill both of them in that instant, you get the benefit of having the murder downgraded to manslaughter.but if u leave the scene and come back to kill them ,it is murder.u hanged on the neck till u die.god forbid. |

Sir, forget this ECOWAS treaty, many people commenting on it don't even understand it. 1) The ECOWAS citizens don't need visa FOR VISIT, not permanent residency or work permit. 2) If ECOWAS treaty has solved all the travelling questions, why do ECOWAS member countries still have borders in between the various member countries? 3) The apparent domination of trading in Nigeria (which some wrongly interprete as control of the economy) by the Igbos is parts of the privileges conferred on them because they are Nigerians, the moment, they elect to be Biafrans, they become foreigners 4)No Nation will open its borders for foreigners to freely have a niche in economic aspects which the citizens can also do. This is why there is no major market in other ECOWAS countries where Igbos dominate like Ladipo, Wise, Ariara or Alaba laudate: You need to rephrase your comments. Don't mind them, they have been fed lies and propaganda since childhood. 1)The igbos who had money in the banks have withdrew their deposits in the prelude to that war (the Biafran war didn't start in one day but preceded by one year of ethnic tension). 2) The Igbos had their money converted to Biafran pounds which was not recognized outside Biafra. 3) After the war, those who had money had it in Biafran pounds which couldn't be converted to Nigerian currency. 4) The €20 flat rate was given (out of sheer magnanimity of the Gowon Regime to foster reconciliation) to Biafrans to start afresh. jpphilips: Recycling lies doesn't help anyone, how many Igbos had bank accounts in 1967? do you know there was only 1 bank in Igbo land at the time and it was ACB? there was a pogrom before the war a period of roughly 1yr, how did Igbos survive without their money? common sense tells me they took out everything they had before their escape, very few wouldn't have done that. So igbos really didn't restart their lives with 20 pounds, they had little or nothing in the bank, except for Ojukwu and very few others, ojukwu wasn't affected because he liquidated ACB before the war started, proceeds he used to fund the war in part, his father owned the bank in the first place that shouldn't be a problem. |

How will Ebonyi, Osun,Kwara, Enugu, Benue, Taraba and Kogi States run their governments if they support resource contral and True federalism? Even IMO and ABIA that jointly produce about 1.7% of Nigeria's oil output will find it difficult initially if we start true fiscal federalism and full resource control today. Politics › Re: Biggest Lie Ever Told(the North Feeds Nigeria) by oyatz(m): 1:00pm On Jun 15, 2017 |
Good questions. 1) The economy was brought to its knees when the prices of oil crashed because the country rely majorly on export of oil as a source of income. This doesn't mean, there are no other sources generating income or capable of generating income. Its just that, for years, the Governments (including your State's government) have neglected other economic activities which can be developed to generate greater income than oil. 2) There are many economic activities going on in Nigeria presently from which Government can generate substantial income through various forms of taxation but Government is not looking in that direction e.g Mining, Maritime, Agric , Power sector etc. delishpot: But when economy crashes they lay blame on slow sales or poor rates of crude ba? When has the poor performance of Nigerian economy ever been blamed on poor hide sale? Even your government agrees that the crude oil is the most profitable and important product the Nigerian economy depends on. Not that I support the breakup of Nigeria but if the North decides to brag about their food the South can also boast of the important role their oil plays. Stop receiving yourself.
Like I said before, your hide, ginger etc do they just go to the North, take their farms, harvest the available ginger without paying to the farmer who has grown that ginger and export his ginger abroad just as they do crude oil?. Are the farmers not the ones directly making cash from the sales of their products to exporters while the rest of Nigeria only shares from the duties, taxes etc paid?on the other hand, crude oil is not first purchased from the locals directly, exported and the revenue from exportation shared amongst Nigerian States. These are two different things. |

However, every segment will be negatively affected in the immediate period after the break up because we are deeply interdependent than what tribal bigots know or willing to acknowledge . |
Politics › Re: Biggest Lie Ever Told(the North Feeds Nigeria) by oyatz(m): 6:35am On Jun 15, 2017 |
This post is laced with misinformation and prejudice. The money in the federation account which is shared among ALL the tiers of Government comes from royalty paid by oil exploration and export, import duties paid to the Nigerian customs, taxation on economic activities within Nigeria, remittances from public corporations and profit generating MDAs and EXPORT duties from other non-oil export like cocoa (mainly from the S/West) ,hides &skin and leather products (mainly from the North), solid minerals, Timber , ginger, gum Arabic etc . delishpot: North doesnt buy crude oil. They share from the revenue of crude oil whereas the rest of Nigeria buys their food with cash and all revenue stays in the North and it is not shared amongst the rest of Nigeria. The south buys petrol and others just like the North butbwe do not export their products and share the money amongst the other states. So they enjoy crude revenue for free while the rest of the country pays cash for their agricultural products. See it this way, you sell fish and I have garri. You take my garri or revenue from my garri sales as a right but I must pay cash for your fish. Then you turn around and tell me I woukd die of hunger without your fish. If we want to play fair then you either give me fish for free as you enjoy the revenue from my garri for free or you should also pay cash for my garri as I pay cash for your fish. The revenue from crude does not go to the south alone. Can we also say the revenue from agricultural products of the north is shared amongst every Nigerian? No. We pay cash for their goods. |

This is one of the most intelligent contribution on this topic, devoid of the usual emotional tantrums by juvenile minds associated with most discussion on Nairaland with now monotonous shouting of afonja( the commonest term on nairaland), red mud erosion, Igbos, brown roof ,ndi Yoruba, Fulani, yorubastard and other derogatory terms. 4Play: This thread hints at something but it misses a larger picture: in a hypothetical scenario where Biafra is actualised for Igbos it will fundamentally change the calculus for other Southern ethnic groups. Whether Igbos get to visit the rest of Nigeria in a post-Biafra world is a bit of a red herring.
Assume, for the sake of simplicity, that Nigeria has a population equally distributed among the 6 geo-political zones with the North having 50% of the population. A Biafra for Igbos could mean 1/6th of the Nigerian populace but, more importantly, 1/3rd of the Southern populace leaving Nigeria. This will radically skew political power to the advantage of Northern Nigeria (yes, not a cohesive region but exhibiting some degree of coordination by comparison to the South).
The North will constitute 3/5th and come close to (if not now but eventually with higher birth rates*) 2/3rds of the rest of Nigeria. The rest of Nigeria would be unquestionably a Northern and Muslim majority nation. In such a scenario, many of the Southern ethnic groups would not want to remain in Nigeria and this would accelerate further disintegration.
In reality, Biafra independence would cause absolute mayhem for everyone and to me would be impossible to execute (at least peacefully). It's clear that most intelligent people grasp this: indeed, anti-Biafra sentiments (amongst Igbos and non-Igbos) is driven not by any great sense that the Igbos or Nigeria will be a great loss but the apprehension that Biafra will precipitate chaos for the whole of the South.
*There is an argument that with higher birth rates, the "North" will be a more entrenched hegemony over time. Remember the saying, "demography is destiny." |

You are very funny sir! You want to dictate to Biafra and dictate to THE ZOO at the same time on how to treat foreigners in their countries? So you think Igbos will enjoy all the rights and privileges presently being enjoyed as other Nigerian citizens even when they have become Biafran citizens and that ECOWAS, international laws and the international communities will jump into the picture to enforce these? Stop dreaming bro, its day break. Billyonaire: OP, Let me correct one impression. Biafra is not an Igbo thing, Biafra is beyond the Igbo construct which has been polluting the cyber-space. I am not Igbo, yet my father lost everything to that war. To me, Biafra is cry against marginalization, a cry against the inhumanity of man against fellow humans. Biafran represents something more than a country. It is a courage to say, 'No' to slavery.
The Answer to your question is NO. Nigeria can not deport Biafrans after secession, this is not 1970s. Biafrans resident in Nigeria and Nigerians residents in Biafra will be offered provisional citizenships with first right of refusal. Sane countries know the value of human resources. If Biafrans are to withdraw 100% from Nigeria. There will be chaos.
* Based on International Law on Migration of the ECOWAS 16-member countries, they will be required to get a Biafran Passport and Resident Permit in Nigeria. And the Nigerians living in Biafra will be required to do the same. Both Nigerians and Biafrans will be given at least 5 years to work out the terms of migration. Travels within the ECOWAS 16-member countries has been VISA-free and will remain so. What is required is resident permit.
* Based on International Migration laws, which I believe same will apply to Nigeria-Biafra relationship, if you own a Landed Property within the country, you are automatically qualified and have fight right of refusal on Nigerian Citizenship. I know many Biafrans will like to move away from Nigeria, and I am one of them, but will lease/rent out my houses in Nigeria and be paying tax to the Nigeria government while I go back to build Biafra. I will not hesitate to go back and help build Biafra to one of the best countries in the world.
* I will keep the last point to myself. |
