In reality, about 80% of the members of political parties in Nigeria are motor park touts, divorced market women, Okada riders, roadside mechanics, ignorant artisans and unemployed semi-educated youths, many of whom don't have Twitter accounts, listen to AIT, Arise or TVCs. They don't read Newspapers.


The demerits of direct primaries system is that these motley crowd of uninformed party members are in politics for whatever they can eat and they only support candidates that can butter their breads. They are neither principled nor very patriotic.

Members of the APC voted in a direct primary and Ambode lost.

Tinubu was okay with Ambode but several APC leaders at the Local Levels (wards) were offended with Ambode's policy that removed them from the waste management system and their replacement with an European company, Pentascope.

The problem with this post is that you jump into conclusions without really knowing the basis of the argument.


Is the matter about whether Aregbesola also should become godfather or whether Tinubu alone should be godfather?

The matter is whether Gov Oyetola should be re-elected or not.

Aregbesola drawing Tinubu into the matter, lambasting Akande and others is quite unnecessary.


The Governor is seeking re-election and enjoys the support of majority of the APC stakeholders in Osun (the recognized State Exco, all the elected APC members and most of the party's stalwarts). Aregbesola's nominated aspirant should face the primaries on Saturday.


From my own perspectives, Aregbe knew his candidate can't win but they want to play the spoilers to ensure the defeat of Oyetola/APC in the general election.

This governor is banking on Omisore to deliver Ife/Ijesa axis for him.
He is about to get the shocker of his life.

Some are saying Aregbe is no longer popular. I laugh at their naivety and ignorance.
With the recent happenings in the state, it has shown clearly that some former PDP members who decamped to APC are in charge of Oyetola's government. They are only the one supporting him and running the show of his government.

Is it not the same Lagos that Tinubu said then that party members are not happy with Ambode to go for second term? He made sure he didn't go for second. If I remember then, he said he can't change the will of the people.
Now that party members in Osun said they don't want Oyetola, Tinubu now want to cause mayhem in the state because of Oyetola who will eventually betray him.

Tinubu does not value all the years Aregbe has been loyal to him. If he does, he won't have jettisoned their mutual bond.

The APC secretariat and chairman recognized by the national APC is Prince Famodun (Oyetola's faction).

Aregbesola is not getting the matters very well probably because he relies too much on the Abuja connection.

How on Earth does he think Alh Moshood Adeoti who decamped from APC to contest under ADC in 2018 thereby splitting the votes of APC only returned in Jun,2020 , started engaging in anti-party struggles will be handed over the APC ticket while the incumbent Gov Oyetola who tried to clear the mess left by Aregbesola should step down?

If APC should acced to such dangerous demand, they will be easily defeated by the PDP.

While it's true aregbeshola was very loyal to his boss, I found his vituperations unfortunate. He has a problem with oyetola, but was attacking Tinubu because he recommended him, its fair, but he should have kept the fight where it is.
The problem I have seen in many of these SW states where he former governors have issues with present governors is many of them want to be godfathers,but don't really have what it takes. Aregbeshola did 8years as a commissioner, immediately went for another 8 years as governor, took a break , then his on as a minister for 4 years, making 20 years in public office. Is he the only one?
The man they all blame, did only 8 years as governor and vacated the seat, he has been supporting them ever since, spending resources to help them achieve their dream. I can't really write all that happened here, but the man should have calibrated his vituperations.
The same issue with amosun, was in house of reps, became governor, went to Senate, consecutively, is it only him, if they want to play godfather, leave public office, stay back and work for others but they don't have the gravitas and sense of justice, they will blame tinubu who left office 15 years ago.

With all due respect Mr Tinubu has decided to make himself Don, so as La Cosa Nostra says, he has placed a target on his back.

He did his 8 years as governor but has continued in politics after that.
That he has not been in office is no excuse for the fact that he has been interested in every political office ever since and has expanded his coast to influence, occupy by proxy and dominate the political landscape throughout the south west, meaning he cannot play innocent in all the strife going on.

He has refused to let democracy take proper root in the domain he calls his kingdom and this in itself has consequences.

Like all great empires, they will eventually crumble under their own weight and collapse from internal strife.

When Mr Tinubu has 'installed' enough lackeys and created enough divisions and the estranged ones form a critical mass..... then the barbarians will begin to bang on the gates of Rome.

You had better advise Mr. Tinubu to begin to let proper democracy take root in order that he can plot a honorable exit strategy, a worthy end to all his political endeavours. That is sound wisdom.

How will Tinubu let proper democracy take roots in this matter?

Are you saying Tinubu should just say 'Hi, Gov Oyetola, don't run for second term and allow the former SSG nominated and preferred by Aregbesola become the APC candidate so that democracy can take roots'?

What exactly do you wish Tinubu to have done?


It's true Aregbesola suffered for and nurtured the party in Osun State but his poor economic policies dragged the State into economic depression which caused hatred for the APC that the party nearly lost the 2018 Governorship election.
The succeeding Administration of Gov Oyetola was seriously handicapped by spending substantial wealth of the State to repay loans incurred by Aregbesola.

If Oyetola had mastered his game very well, he should had begged Aregbesola to take the Osun East Senatorial ticket in 2019 and he would most likely lose, which would have humbled him and learn the gravity of his mistakes.



I don't think Tinubu or any sane person will advise Oyetola not to seek re-election just to please Aregbesola but

1) it is most appropriate to accommodate the Aregbe group by conceding 40% of all Government and party positions to them.


2) Prevail of Aregbesola to accept and accommodate Omisore in Osun APC .

In 2015, some of us thought those southerners in APC that sold Jonathan out were the south's worst enemies. At the moment, I wonder why I don't mind an Amaechi presidency. The reason is obvious to me. We Africans are tribal by heritage and I got to realize that even the Jonathan I was fighting for isn't really Igbo. Well...Amaechi is competent and a plus for us Ndigbo. However, the battle isn't over yet. We should get PDP ticket too since it seems that providence is on our side at the APC side.

The only thing I can say is that if Tinubu doesn't want to relinquish the quest for presidency as it is the turn of Southeast,then I see no reason why Atiku cannot contest.
