PoliticsRe: Obi, LP Tender 18,088 Blurred Result Sheets, Other Documents by pacesetting: 3:33pm On Jun 15, 2023
It can happen, just as Nigeria witnessed the first time a governor was unseated by the court. If LP can provide overwhelming evidence, the court will have no other reason to use technicalities, unless they want to invite anarchy. And if Tinubu refuses, he and APC will not be able to withstand it when the chaos starts.
Angelfrost:
Good luck Jonathan was not unseated sir!

He lost an election fair and square!

I'm talking about a sitting President being sacked by the Courts! Never in Nigeria!
EducationRe: Breakdown Of The Student Loan Bill by pacesetting:
"the people who need it". That's a very poor reasoning. I won't be surprised if you're just a jobless internet troll begging for crumbs online. Saying you are a masters degree holder is the biggest lie I've ever heard this year. Because you don't even seem to grasp what you're typing here. I won't dignify you with another reply.
LegendHero:
Where did you see UK in my post? You sure say you get eyes like this?

I’ve passed the level of defending any policy coz I’ve seen some Nigerians are mentally unwell. If you like say the student loan na devil plan, it’s not my business.

The people that need it will collect it and enjoy the benefit. E no compulsory and they no put rope for anybody neck to collect by force.
EducationRe: Breakdown Of The Student Loan Bill by pacesetting: 2:09pm On Jun 13, 2023
I don't think you are doing justice to this your UK's master's degree claim. The reasoning is too shallow man. You don't provide a solution to symptoms, but rather to the main sickness. I repeat again, student loan policy will solve nothing. It will rather raise more issues.

The gov't should have put certain things in place before this policy. Otherwise, it will still go the way of so many other loan policies we have had over the years. Watch as the policy unfolds. And at the bolded, this discussion is not about Tinubu, but about a flawed policy.
LegendHero:
Ogbeni na USA I do my masters. You’re saying nonsense bro.

What is the cost of tuition in Nigeria compared to the West? Here you go need average of $110k for undergraduate whereas in a federal university in Nigeria for example, you can spend less than 200k for your whole undergraduate.

Even if you get a job of 80k in Nigeria after school, you can easily repay the loan in few years whereas for USA, even with $100k yearly job, you will struggle to repay the loan in few years when you factor in all other bills.

I now conclude that some Nigerians are actually deluded. At this rate, even if Tinubu implement 24hrs electricity, they will still complain that it is detrimental to Nigeria.
EducationRe: Breakdown Of The Student Loan Bill by pacesetting: 8:54am On Jun 13, 2023
As someone who has passed through the tertiary education system in Nigeria and Europe, I can confidently tell you that this policy is whack. This policy will create more problems rather than solve them because you can't place the cart before the horse. Don't worry, you will understand during implementation.
LegendHero:
You come dey talk like say Tinubu put rope for you neck to borrow the money by fire by force.

So what stop Tinubu from solving unemployment issue and sustaining the student loan too? Do one need to stop before the other Abi you just love hating for hating sake? You well so?

Sometimes I think some Nigerians are actually mentally handicapped coz I find it weird that some people are actually criticizing this good effort from Tinubu.
EducationRe: Breakdown Of The Student Loan Bill by pacesetting: 11:32pm On Jun 12, 2023
Tinubu is just putting the cart before the horse. We really have a long way to go. I pity those praying that the government favours them. They should rather pray that the government makes the right decision, which is obviously not the case so far.
dejol88:
This scheme is designed to increase debt Nigeria is owing without impact.
Many Nigerians like celebrating nonsense.

I feel we should redesign our education system where critical thinking would be compulsory.
EducationRe: Breakdown Of The Student Loan Bill by pacesetting: 11:29pm On Jun 12, 2023
That's my question too. A policy that cannot solve students problems. It will even compound their issues.
Web2020:
What is the real problems of Nigerian students between the below problem statement?

1. Average Nigerians are unable to afford their tuition fees?

2. Average Nigerians are unable to secure jobs after graduation.

What is the immediate problem is the loan scheme designed to solve?
EducationRe: Breakdown Of The Student Loan Bill by pacesetting: 11:26pm On Jun 12, 2023
Those parents that afforded university for their kids, where are their kids now? This policy is useless since the govt has not solved the issue of high unemployment. You guys should stop sugarcoating this useless policy.
LegendHero:
The policy will solve the situation of parent not able to afford university for their kids.

Because our own family can afford it does not mean other families can. There are people that their dream died only because of WAEC fees that their parent couldn’t pay let alone university fees.

Any one whose parent can afford their school fees do not have any reason for getting the loan. The loan is not compulsory and I don’t know why you guys are even trying to criticize it.

No one is going to force anyone to take the loan. If you don’t get a job after 2 years, they will continue to monitor you and start after you get a job. This can even force people to take up self employment jobs.
EducationRe: Breakdown Of The Student Loan Bill by pacesetting: 11:18pm On Jun 12, 2023
The problem is not getting loan, but paying back. Govt needs to first address the issue of unemployment before thinking about this policy. Tinubu's hasty decisions on fuel subsidy and student loans shows he knows nothing. I pity those applauding this wrong policy.
PepeXKermit:
how so? when they told you people to pay your OPAY loans, una say nothing fit happen. Nothing fit happen, now you no fit get genuine loan from govt.

PoliticsRe: Fuel Subsidy Is Organised Crime, Should Be Removed — Peter Obi Backs Tinubu by pacesetting: 12:49am On Jun 07, 2023
Please before you start writing long epistles in the name of proving tinubu right, read Obi's statement again. Did you read where he used tooth removal by a dentist as his preferred solution? If you did, then your third paragraph would have been unnecessary. But of course, comprehension is the problem of all you zombies.
LeoDeKing:
Someone up there already eating his vomitous since Peter Obi has thrown his weight behind the subsidy removal as he had stated during campaign.

Till this moment, their explanation has always been that Peter Obi would have cushioned the effect before removal, but ask them where Peter Obi said so, they will rather insult you down to your forefathers.

Someone said fuel subsidy will be removed immediately from day one, but they are explaining to us that the word "immediately" means "provisions and plans while removing subsidy".

Now that Peter Obi has shown his support for the subsidy removal, will rodents and nematodes continue asking if Tinubu supporters are queuing for N500 per liter of fuel or they will find another face-saving explanation?

Let's wait and see. 🤞

PoliticsRe: Is This Same Person The Owner Of Nairaland? by pacesetting(op): 8:38am On Jun 03, 2023
At the bolded, it's what the gov't should have tried doing before even removing fuel subsidy. Angola and Algeria are also removing fuel subsidy, but they are not relying on a private-owned refinery that has not even started production. Nigerian government is removing subsidy without providing things that can cushion its impact. That's a calamitous decision.
chidiokay:
What you people don't know the civil servant salaries increment is the main trigger of inflation where commodities are concern.
Anyone that understand Nigeria very well will know that anytime govt increases the salary of workers every other thing jumps up.

Fuel hike will spike inflation no doubt but the way Nigeria market & landlords respond to salary increment of workers is scarier .. naa inflation pro max

The solution to the current problem is not salary increment, Govt just have to find a way to flood our markets with abundance that will drive price low, and our naira has no value that is what needs to be corrected

PoliticsRe: 2ND JUNE 2023 ;Tinubu & Peter Obi Live Court Updates! by pacesetting: 2:18pm On Jun 02, 2023
At the bolded, it's exactly what Obi is doing. I wonder why y'all are pained. He has gone to court peacefully. Make una allow am do his "exercise in futility". Abi is it your exercise?
senatordave1:
Obi is producing results,we haven't seen the contents or has obi exposed any irregularities in those results.he hasn't proven anything.the only witness he called on Tuesday fumbled.
Obi days are counting, the court can't decide anything apart from 3 weeks allotted to him.until obi proves infractions on a substantial base, tinubu remains...
Inec rejecting maybe because the documents were wrongly submitted or inec were never pre informed
PoliticsRe: 2ND JUNE 2023 ;Tinubu & Peter Obi Live Court Updates! by pacesetting: 2:11pm On Jun 02, 2023
That's exactly what I'm telling you. Obi is producing INEC's certified PU results in the court. INEC is now objecting, so there are interesting days ahead. Don't bother about Obi's "wasted one week". It's for the court to decide. The most important thing is proving that INEC's declared result is different from the main result. INEC only declared results from state levels. The body now has to back it up with PU and ward results. If you're a math teacher, will you accept when your pupil writes only the answer to a math problem without showing all workings?
senatordave1:
Sorry, with which results are you using? Until you produce a counter result, inec result stands.by the way,obi has wasted one week.only two weeks are left.he called one witness who was rubbished
PoliticsRe: 2ND JUNE 2023 ;Tinubu & Peter Obi Live Court Updates! by pacesetting: 1:57pm On Jun 02, 2023
The mistake you are making is by using INEC's declared results in your permutations. Obi got 25% in 26 states, including in Kogi, Ogun, and Oyo. Just sit back and relax okay. The case is ongoing in court, and by next month we will all know what's up. There is no need doing permutations over INEC's declared results.
casualobserver:
Obi only go 25% in 15 states plus Abuja, total of 16. Let us assume he manages to get akwa ibom ( where he is close to 25%) and Rivers that we all know was massively rigged to make a total of 18, he still needs an additional 7 states. Now please look at the results posted and tell me which of these states he can manufacture 25% from. Is it jigawa, zamfara, katsina, yobe sokoto, Borneo Kano, kebbi where he got less than 2%? Or is it Osun Bauchi Ekiti, Gombe Keats ondo where he got between 3% and 9%. If not that is already 14 states out of a possible 19. Meaning there are only 5 states from which to claw the statutory 25%…and which are those states left? Niger, Oyo, Kongi, Kara, Adamawa and Ogun where he has between 10 and 15%. He is not going to get Oyo or Ogun, Kogi or Niger so where is the 25% coming from? Even if he gets all 5, he needs 7.

PoliticsRe: Queues Resurface As Tinubu Announces Fuel Subsidy Removal by pacesetting: 4:57pm On May 29, 2023
So, since it's already at play, what's the need to say it, or say it with a better language? "Subsidy is gone" and "we will remove subsidy" have different impacts.
nairalanda1:
Erm, subsidy removal has been basically on ever since Auntie Zainab, the outgoing minister of finance and money matters not covered by budget planning....stated that the budget for this year's subsidy would last through June.

Unless you did not want to believe it, this has been basically set in stone for months. It is just that most of us...even me, did not believe it.

Well, here it is.

In a way, removing subsidy was going to be like shock theraphy. No matter how nicely it was said.

PoliticsRe: Queues Resurface As Tinubu Announces Fuel Subsidy Removal by pacesetting: 4:43pm On May 29, 2023
He didn't say Tinubu should not remove it. He said there is no need saying it, because it will cause panic buying. Why is he already inviting chaos the first day in office?
nairalanda1:
The subsidy removal announcement has been there for months, ever since the past government said that they won't fund the subsidy beyond June.

At the end, Tinubu just confirmed what has been old news. He won't continue the funding.

Oga, you want us to borrow again to fund subsidy? Shey you know that Obi and Atiku too were saying that subsidy has to go in their campaign.?

God knows I hate this new APC government, but on subsidy we got to face the reality, or we keep lying to ourselves at the expense of a growing deficit.
