Work Begins On U.S. $1.4 Billion Warri Industrial Business Park What is the industrial Park? The warri industrial park is going to be deliberately designed, fabricated, fully constructed and developed business community (manufacturing and service companies) located in one place or land area. It is a community of businesses seeking collective benefits that is greater than the sum of individual benefits each company would realize by only optimizing its individual performance. The business community will also seek the benefits of neighbouring communities to ensure that net impact of its development is positive. Quote: Construction work has begun on the multi-billion dollar Delta Industrial and Technological Park located at Aladja, near Warri,

Let Fashola finish with Lagos. Lagos is a country of its own. |
I will ask him if he knows one guy in Lagos called Fashola. If he says "yes", then I would tell him to call the guy and ask him for the definition of Governance. |
State Police would go a long way to change the security dynamics in the country. The States with effective Police systems would drive all the criminals out to other states without effective Police systems. When the the states with non performing Police forces begin to feel the heat from the criminals, they too would sit up! Fashola knows the way forward. I wish we didn't have that nasty constitution! |

For those that posted pics, thanks a lot, post more if you have. To the cynics, I appreciate! But sincerely, why should anyone ask me to upload ugly pictures? Why would I want 2 waste camera space taking ugly pics. Warri is getting more and more beautiful by the day as new hotels, supermarkets, fast food outlets etc continue to dot the landscape! @Pepeye You taught me something cool and I appreciate it. Don't ask what! |
We will get our news from other sources. Facebook is free. Yahoo, Gmail, Youtube and Nairaland are all free. Why do they think anyone would want 2 pay for news. News is free everywhere already. |

I love Warri. I had a wonderful childhood in that city. The city is in the news again and it is a political hot topic for all the wrong reasons. Many people have a very wrong impression of what Warri really is. Many perceive Warri as a Dangerous, Militant Infested Haven. Others know Warri only from the mouths of comedians. But sincerely, Warri is one of the most liveable cities in Nigeria. I think Warri is amongst the Top 5 cities in the country. In terms of per capita GDP, Warri is second only to Abuja. The number of middle class citizens in Warri is almost as much as the number of poor in the city. The number of brand new cars are almost equal to the number of old cars. The city has one of the best economies in Nigeria as a result of the oil economy. All major roads in the city are dualised with street lights working perfectly from 6pm to 6am. Much of the crises that we hear of doesn't take place in the city of Warri. It takes place in the creeks. The creeks are far away- some good two hours away by boat. Once again, I love Warri cos I grew up there and I thought I could help correct erroneous impressions. Here are some pics

kevoh:Thats my point! Why would you pay just 400 naira for something you'd enjoy for another 10 years. An album like ASA's should sell for something like N2000. Its the best album I've heard in ages and yet I bought it for just 150 naira. That is three minutes talk time on most networks!I feel guilty just knowing how much I bought such a masterpiece! The problem of proper distribution/marketing of CDs & Movies would be over soon as we are working out something cool 4 the nigerian market! |
@Poster I have thought about this too. I think the prices are way too cheap. To think about it, we easily spend 500 Naira on recharge card that would give us talk time of just over 10 minutes and yet, a CD we would play over and over again for years we are willing to pay only N150. It is ridiculous. |
texazzpete:You have little idea what you talk about. First, the creeks are a much more difficult terrain than the jungle. While meandering through a jungle is predictably monotonous, on the other hand, every new creek you see is an entirely new terrain. Worse still, the Nigerian Navy nor the Army never trained in the creeks as their initial job description was to protect our borders, hence they restricted their combat training to the high seas. There is no greater nightmare for the military than to have to meander through the Niger Delta creeks, as every bend poses a danger cos militants could lay ambush on the other side. I'm still amazed that up until this day, the military hasn't captured or claimed to have killed any large number of militants. texazzpete:These people have wives, kids, parents and families?? Do the innocent hundreds they killed not have loved ones too? If you've ever been to the Niger Delta, you'd know that over 80% of the JTF is of the Hausa/Fulani Stock! The JTF is whose army?? I do not support the militants but I have no choice but to support their ideology in the face of a deliberate attempt by Abuja/ YarAdua types/Northern hegemoists to prevent this nation from experiencing true federalism. Why is it so hard to just sincerely tackle the real issues?? |
What kind of Human Beings rule Nigeria! |
. |
AjaraEwuro:Everybody has the right and freedom to comment. What you should say is "you don't have the need to comment authoritatively on issues you have too little knowledge about" |
mbulela:The cabs would reduce the number of vehicles on the streets. With the availability of these cabs, many folks would instead of driving to and about anywhere with their own private vehicles, rather take a cab as it would save them the stress of driving in the perennial Lagos traffic. kosovo:About Nigeria, Likewise me! |
Now this is good governance! This Fashola dey rock! The best part of this is that the state government didn't(I guess) have to spend a dime. They just designed the policy and created the enabling environment and bam! 1250 cabs are on the streets of Lagos!! Thats all it takes to govern! Good policies and an enabling environment! |
Although we like to think that the people in our lives are well-adjusted, happy, healthy minded individuals, we sometimes realize that it just isn't so. Personally, I've had moments where I'll be skipping through my day, happy as can be, thinking life is grand and BAM, I'll be blindsided by someone who manages to knock the happy wind out of my sails. Sometimes it is easy to write it off and other times, not so much. Maybe you are a positive person, but when you are around a certain individual, you feel negative. Or, maybe you have an idealistic view of the world and when you are with certain people, you are made to feel silly, unrealistic or delusional. Or, maybe you pride yourself in being completely independent and in control of your life, but when you are around a certain family member, you regress into a state of childhood. Some of these situations, and yes, these people, can have a tremendously negative impact on our lives. And, although we are all human and have our 'issues,' some 'issues' are quite frankly, toxic. They are toxic to our happiness. They are toxic to our mental outlook. They are toxic to our self-esteem. And they are toxic to our lives. They can suck the life out of us and even shorten our lifespan. Here are the worst of the toxic personalities out there and how to spot them: 1. Manipulative Mary: These individuals are experts at manipulation tactics. Is a matter of fact, you may not even realize you have been manipulated until it is too late. These individuals figure out what your 'buttons' are, and push them to get what they want. * Why they are toxic: These people have a way of eating away at your belief system and self-esteem. They find ways to make you do things that you don't necessarily want to do and before you know it, you lose your sense of identity, your personal priorities and your ability to see the reality of the situation. The world all of a sudden becomes centered around their needs and their priorities. 2. Narcissistic Nancy: These people have an extreme sense of self-importance and believe that the world revolves around them. They are often not as sly as the Manipulative Marys of the world, but instead, tend to be a bit overt about getting their needs met. You often want to say to them "It isn't always about you." * Why they are toxic: They are solely focused on their needs, leaving your needs in the dust. You are left disappointed and unfulfilled. Further, they zap your energy by getting you to focus so much on them, that you have nothing left for yourself. 3. Debbie Downers: These people can't appreciate the positive in life. If you tell them that it is a beautiful day, they will tell you about the impending dreary forecast. If you tell them you aced a mid-term, they'll tell you about how difficult the final is going to be. * Why they are toxic: They take the joy out of everything. Your rosy outlook on life continues to get squashed with negativity. Before you know it, their negativity consumes you and you start looking at things with gray colored glasses yourself. 4. Judgmental Jims: When you see things as cute and quirky, they see things as strange and unattractive. If you find people's unique perspectives refreshing, they find them 'wrong'. If you like someone's eclectic taste, they find it 'disturbing' or 'bad'. * Why they are toxic: Judgmental people are much like Debbie Downers. In a world where freedom rings, judgment is sooo over. If the world was a homogeneous place, life would be pretty boring. Spending a lot of time with these types can inadvertently convert you into a judgmental person as well. 5. Dream Killing Keiths: Every time you have an idea, these people tell you why you can't do it. As you achieve, they try to pull you down. As you dream, they are the first to tell you it is impossible. * Why they are toxic: These people are stuck in what is instead of what could be. Further, these individuals eat away at your self-esteem and your belief in yourself. Progress and change can only occur from doing new things and innovating, dreaming the impossible and reaching for the stars. 6. Insincere Illissas: You never quite feel that these people are being sincere. You tell a funny story, they give you a polite laugh. You feel depressed and sad and they give you a 'there, there' type response. You tell them you are excited about something and you get a very ho-hum response. * Why they are toxic: People who aren't sincere or genuine build relationships on superficial criteria. This breeds shallow, meaningless relationships. When you are really in need of a friend, they won't be there. When you really need constructive criticism, they would rather tell you that you are great the way you are. When you need support, they would rather see you fail or make a fool of yourself. 7. Disrespectful Dannys: These people will say or do things at the most inappropriate times and in the most inappropriate ways. In essence, they are more subtle, grown up bullies. Maybe this person is a friend who you confided in and uses your secret against you. Maybe it is a family member who puts their busy-body nose into your affairs when it is none of their business. Or maybe, it is a colleague who says demeaning things to you. * Why they are toxic: These people have no sense of boundaries and don't respect your feelings or, for that matter, your privacy. These people will cause you to feel frustrated and disrespected. 8. Never Enough Nellies: You can never give enough to these people to make them happy. They take you for granted and have unrealistic expectations of you. They find ways to continually fault you and never take responsibility for anything themselves. * Why they are toxic: You will spend so much time trying to please them, that you will end up losing yourself in the process. They will require all of your time and energy, leaving you worn out and your own needs sacrificed. Link: http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/life/8-toxic-personalities-to-avoid-461078 Which one of these personalities describe you? Remember, before we start accusing others of possessing any one of these qualities, we should look within, we might just find that we possess all the qualities. |
biina:Or maybe 5,800 out of 70,000! |
Very interesting read!! I'm guessing El Rufai is writing a book! I really does explain how things operate in Nigeria's corridor of power. My best part of the article is this "According to then Governor Yar’Adua, when he visited me - the President sent Governor James Ibori of Delta State to see him in Katsina and invite him to pick the Presidential Nomination Form of the PDP. Umaru flew to Abuja in a private jet arranged by Obasanjo and Ibori the following day. By the time he got to Abuja, Ibori had already paid the N5 million (US $40,000) application fee and collected the form in Umaru’s name."What a strategic thinker Ibori is. That 5 million Naira investment has paid off a million times and over. |
U.S. embassy moves to end Nigerians' ordeal over visa 70,000 residents seek U.S. visa in Nigeria From Oghogho Obayuwana, Abuja Sanders also disclosed that 70,000 Nigerians applied for U.S. visas last year, out of which 58,000 were granted.
If this is true, how come Nigerians keep complaining about American Visa been a problem! That figure is over 80% of applicants. That makes American Visa the easiest Visa to obtain in Nigeria. |
I'm waiting for the full story oooh! Asides, please provide a link 4 the facebook page. I go like join. The guy is one of my very few Nigerian heroes! |
